Baxok Curhunter is at location 851, -436 in Ak'Anon.

You say, 'Hail, Baxok Curhunter'

Baxok Curhunter says 'Hail, ______. I invite you to serve the mighty state of Ak'Anon by becoming a Gemchopper. We gnomes are not known for our warrior skills, but those few who endure and survive to become elite amongst our warriors soon find that the technology of the gnomes has found its way into our halls. You must be a [new recruit] or [an outsider], perhaps?'

You say, 'I am a new recruit.'

Baxok Curhunter says 'Well, good to make your acquaintance, ___. Maybe someday you shall be a great Watchman. Until then, I have a task for you. Will you [serve the Crown] or has a yellow streak appeared upon your back?'

You say, 'I will serve the Crown.'

Baxok Curhunter says 'Go to the Lesser Faydarks. There you will seek out a fairy city. It seems the little pests have stolen one of our fabulous clockworks. Destroy the clockwork and bring me proof. Be very careful. The fairy folk may be small, but they pack a punch.'

You have slain Gearheart!
Your faction standing with Fairie got worse. (-100 faction hit)
--You have looted a Blackbox XIVD.--

Baxok Curhunter says 'I can hardly believe you destroyed the clockwork. The last ten men I sent became fairy fodder. Thank you. Here is a token of my appreciation. Serve Ak'Anon well and we shall treat you well.'

Your faction standing with Gem Choppers got better.
Your faction standing with Merchants of AkAnon got better.
Your faction standing with King AkAnon got better.
Your faction standing with Dark Reflection got worse.
Your faction standing with Clan Grikbar got worse.

Easy way to pull Gearheart
# Aug 14 2001 at 9:26 AM Rating: Decent
I have found an easy way to pull Gearheart. His duty is to protect the Faries and their town. When you attack one of the faerie maidens or courtiers that hang out a bit away from the city, he (and only he, not the guards) will notice it and run to the fighting spot. The Maidens and Courtiers are easy, so here is your way to get Gearheart alone :)

Halbarad
Paladin of Mithaniel Marr
Zebuxoruk

P.S.
I used root to prevent that the maiden/courtier flies back to the town and aggros everything in there.
non violent?
# Apr 25 2001 at 7:12 PM Rating: Decent
The low reward may be a sign that there's a non violent way to solve this.
I tried to speak with most npc that could be related to the Quest, but nothing. Maybe I didnt find the right phrase. (Great that the servers are always overcrowded with pc. Talking to the npc is a pain in the ***, no way to get something out of the fairy princess about that tickin guy in her village!)
Another try was the code card you get the C-blackboxes with. But Gearheart is a D-series (male fightin clockwork). Is there a way to get a D code card?

There must be some way, the truth is out there!
Level of Gearheart

I am a 38 warrior on Karana I have just done this quest and at my level I would not get exp from a level 15 to 25 mob but I did which makes me thik that his level is more about 25 to 30 he double attacked for 56 on me and I have high ac about 780 or so he took me down a bubble of hp ( about no buffs I have 1500 hp ) and I did get a small exp boost from him so I think the level range is way off for this mob ( and yes he still conned green to me )

Ginedorf Steelaxe 38th lvl Barb Warrior

Good luck to those who are about 20 who think they can solo him

Worthless

For the level of the mob needed to be killed, the return is pathetic. Ned a -1 rating for this.

If you want merchant faction, a better quest is the Scrap Metal quest from the scrap you get on rogue clockworks (the spiders) near the Mino cave. Give two at a time to Sanford Featherhead across from the Mines of Malfunction (necro guild) in Ak'anon. Rogue clockworks are much easier to kill than Gearheart, and you can just collect them all day until you're encumbered (Gearheart's box is Lore of course, making for frequent trips through brownie-laden country)
Much tougher
# Jul 05 2000 at 1:44 AM Rating: Decent
Gearheart is smack dab in the middle of fairie land, and is allied with the little ba****ds. Because of this, if you pull Gearheart every single faerie within your range will make it their personal duty to hunt your **** down. Bring an Enchanter.

There ae 2 other things you can do...

1. bring a druid harmanony works great here...

2. Pull a maiden off the edge everytime I pull a maiden he comes running....alone, with the maiden of course.
Tougher than is written
# Jul 03 2000 at 6:24 PM Rating: Decent
I was hunting faeries for soil of underfoot when this fellow helped out them, he connned blue to me at 31. He was very difficult to kill, he was hitting in the high 40's, and took me down to about a bubble. Does he really spawn with a 15-25 level spread? He's a tough little guy.

I helped a pallie friend of mine take him when he attacked her for killing maidens. He was yellow to her at 24th. With a couple of other people at that level this would be a relatively easy quest.
