Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".

For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry.

This is a solo task introduced with EverQuest's 13th anniversary. It's expected to only be available during anniversary season (mid-March through mid-April).

It begins with Sam Napth, a Halfling in the Plane of Knowledge at about -215, -90, -155 (next to the Soulbinder).

You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth'

Sam Napth says 'I've been expecting you. I have great need of adventurers to help me deal with an important issue. There are a lot of tasks that need doing, I'd be grateful if you could help me out. You see, I've been trying to prove to some important people that such things are foolishness. So I've arranged some tests to prove it.'

A task window pops up offering several anniversary tasks.

You have been assigned the task 'Improper Boating Attire'.

Sam Napth has asked you to test the effects of these particular gray gloves when riding on a boat. He wants you to proceed to the Buried Sea, and either board the ship the Wind Dancer, or use the rowboat at the Wind Dancer's dock. Speak to Sam's lackey near Sid Hacke's bar to use the rowboat.

You receive "Gray Gloves".

Arrive at the Buried Sea and go to the Wind Dancer's dock with the gloves 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

This is near the Wind Dancer's dock. This dock is near Sid Hacke.

Ride the Wind Dancer or speak to Sam's lackey and use the rowboat 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Ride the Wind Dancer or use the rowboat. Either way, you receive an emote and are zoned into an instance of The Buried Sea.

Sam`s lackey says 'Sam send you? You can [use] rowboat if big boat is taking too long.'

You say, 'I'll use the rowboat'

Sam`s lackey says 'Here, take the boat.'

A horrid sea monster attacked your sea vessel, and you've been washed ashore. You've woken up, in a fair amount of pain but still in one piece. As are the gray gloves. You should take a look around and get your bearings.

Explore your destination 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Head southeast from Sam`s lackey, heading past some apes and ruins onto a hill. There should be a rock on the hill, and somewhere nearby you should get an update and spawn 3x "a hunting raptor". (Location, about -3525, -4100, 370)

Raptors spring from the tropical brush to attack!

Defend yourself 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

You only have to kill one to get the update. They hit for a max ~6,500 and are mezzable (but not stunnable).

You have slain a hunting raptor!

Scour the island for food, such as edible mushrooms, and eat it 0/3 (The Buried Sea)

Task Window Says: You've been washed ashore on a remote island and your ship is nowhere to be seen after being attacked by a sea monster. Search the island for food, water, and wood. Eat the food, drink the water, and bundle the wood up. The wood will be used for a fire later. Water can be found in palm fronds, fungi can be used as food, and dry wood can be used as fire.

From the raptors, head southwest up onto the hill. There are some ruins at the top. Look between the rocks and the ruins for a blue mushroom (around -3645, -3900, 405). Eat the "Foraged Foods" for the update.

The food is awful. You feel sick. You've had the bad luck of picking up inedible items.

Go around the back of the ruins where you picked the first mushroom to find another. This is around location -3660, -3855, 405.

The food is awful. You feel sick. You've had the bad luck of picking up inedible items.

From the second ground spawn location, face west and head off the hill. There will be a mushroom on the ground by three palm trees at about -3935, -3395, 335.

The food is awful. You feel sick. You've had the bad luck of picking up inedible items.

Scour the island for wood sticks and bundle it 0/3 (The Buried Sea)

From the last ground spawn, face southeast to find a ground spawn that looks like a branch (location about -4120, 3645, 330). Click the "Assorted Wood" for an update. This changes the item into a "Bundled Wood".

NOTE: Don't click the "Bundled Wood" yet or the task will bug and you won't be able to finish it.

You bundle the wood and put it away for now.

From this point, head west to 4170, -3370, 335 and pick up that ground spawn. Click it.

You bundle the wood and put it away for now.

Further west at -4200, -3235, 335 is another one.

You bundle the wood and put it away for now.

Scour the island for water found in palm fronds and drink it 0/3 (The Buried Sea)

East of the Druid ring is a monkey statue. Between those two sites, you'll find a ground spawn that looks like a palm leaf: -3840, -3055, 367. This is "Collected Water". Click it for the update.

This water is actually sea water! You spit it out.

Head east towards three palm trees and find another leaf (-3885, -3450, 340).

This water is actually sea water! You spit it out.

Head east until you come upon an inlet (-3915, -3765, 320) where you'll find another.

This water is actually sea water! You spit it out.

Use the wood bundle to start a signal fire 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

You can click the "Bundled Wood" anywhere. Doing so will trigger the following emote:

The gathered wood seems very flammable, and it should be easy to get a fire going. However, as soon as it starts to blaze up, a torrential downpour starts. The rain destroys the fire. It may be wise to go to higher ground.

It begins to rain.

Take shelter in the large ruin on the highest point of the island 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Task Window Says: The wood was good, but now it's pouring rain. Find shelter in the large ruins on the island, and enter the building.

Go into the ruins in the southern-most area of the island.

Clear the undead in the ruin 0/3 (The Buried Sea)

Kill any three undead mobs. They hit for a max ~6,500 and are mezzable (but not stunnable).

Confront the ghost 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

You say, 'Hail, an unknown ghost'

an unknown ghost says 'Your actions here have awoken the long, forgotten dead. However, I return for a more specific purpose. Those gloves you wear. Those are mind. I had the misfortune of being murdered on a boat trip around the Buried Sea by pirates. The pirate took my gloves. I know they hold power, and I want them back. Give me what is mine, and I will leave you in peace.'

Hand over the gloves 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Turn in the Gray Gloves and be ready for a fight.

an unknown ghost says 'At least, I have my gloves back! And you are a fool. I killed the man who used to own these and took them for my own. And now I will take corporeal form again, and return to continue my life. And unlike you, I have a way to escape this island. Now, prepare yourself. I will make your death painless if you do not struggle.'

Defeat the ghost 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

The ghost hits for a max ~6,800 and is immune to mez and stun.

Take the gloves back 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Loot the gloves and an Ancient Portal Stone from the corpse.

Use the ancient portal stone found on the ghost 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Clicking the port stone zones you into the normal Buried Sea zone.

Return the gloves to Sam Napth in the Plane of Knowledge 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth'

The entire trip was a disaster. But you're still alive. The cursed gloves, belonging to a murderer, seemed to have been passed along. They seem to bring misfortune and turmoil from the minute you stepped onto the boat. Now that they are returned to Sam, hopefully your bad luck has ended.

So the original time i did this, i was able to spawn the raptors but none of the ground spawns spawned. I had used the little paddle boat.. but it never really worked. I had to fly over to the island.

The second time I used the big boat and it worked all great, was super fast and easy quest.
This should be - not positive

Turn off autoloot before you kill the ghost and loot the items 1 at a time from the corpse the old school way or it bugs the mission
still buggy

I have just done this quest twice and each time it doesn't update "Take back the gloves". No matter what I did could not get the task to update. Went back to Pok, got the update for handing the gloves back to Sid but still that step missing so no quest finish.

I was having alot of issues with trying to take on all 3 of the raptors at once. (lvl 92 warrior) Here's what eventually worked out.

When you die and come back, the raptors don't move from where they lost aggro (ie, killed you and your merc). I have a Spear of Constriction (procs ensnare) and I snared two of them. I then ran to the other side of the island and got killed. When I came back, they were still strung out from the chase and I was able to pick off the unsnared one solo.

Do you already have the quest item in your bags? The item is lore and you won't get a second pair of gloves if this is your second time requesting.

Tried this task yesterday and was apparently bugged. If the row boat doesn't send you to Monkey Island, that is your first clue. Delete it and just start again!

For a solo task, mobs hit really hard. Have a 95 tank merc and I'm an enchanter and have trouble killing the raptors. Since I have no way of healing anything, and the mobs are immune to stun (brilliant sony), not sure how i'm gonig to get this done. I'm an alt and not main so not raid geared or anything.

This was probably the hardest task for me as an enchanter. I did it with a healer merc, a fully buffed pet, plus another stored pet. I lost both pets, but by that time the mob's health was low enough that the merc could keep me healed through the remainder of the fight.

Just to let you know what you *might* be in for.... once I got the unknown Ghost to about 25%, he took off rocketing up to the northwest corner of the zone. He was snared and rooted at the time so I have no idea how he moved so fast. It took just a few seconds for him to completely heal up while swimming northwest. I had to hunt him down underwater and kill him all over again. He's comparatively pretty easy compared to the other mobs in the zone, but it was still annoying.

When you get update for "find your destination" 3 "a hunting raptor" will spawn; those are only ones you can kill for update, they are sorta tough depending on your class, as a 95 warrior it too me a while to split them so i only had one and then took me a while to kill it as i dont dps very much, my healer merc was at 40% mana to by the end as they hit me for a range of 1.2k to 7k. they seem to depop pretty fast too as i was caught off guard the first time and kited away to drop aggro, when i went back they were gone. quest seems quite difficult for a solo task

Attire not Atire.

Other handy tips, mobs do not see invis and do not summon. If you are tanking them they hit up to 7k (on a 95 bard).

The pale grey gloves have a clicky Cloud of Ill Fortune. Expendable, 50 charges. Spell effect: Summons a cloud that reminds you of the bad you luck (!! go go Sony proofreaders) you had while wearing the Grey gloves. Gives you a rain cloud above your head
