Ok here is what i know form doing this quest. my input in BOLD.
Quest:
1) Journey to the Dreadlands and find the dark elf mercenary 0/1 (Dreadlands) NE CORNER OF ZONE - LAYING ON GROUND
2) Destroy the discovered spiders 0/3 (Dreadlands) FOUND AROUND GIANT FORT - SNOW AREA
3) Speak to Webmaster Katil 0/1 (Dreadlands) NE CORNER OF ZONE NEAR THE NORMAL SPIDER WEBS
4) Defeat Webmaster Katil 0/1 (Dreadlands) I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THIS, I ATTACKED HE ATTACKED BOOM KILLED HIM
5) Take water from the giants and drink it 0/1 (Dreadlands) GROUND SPAWN JUST INSID ETHE GIANT FORT
6) Find a cure for the poison and use it 0/1 (Dreadlands) GROUND SPAWN INSIDE THE NW BUILDING INSIDE THE GIANT FORT
7) Confront Webmaster Katil 0/1 (Dreadlands) TOOK A WHILE TO FIND HIM, HES NOT OUTSIDE THE GIANT FORT, I RAN BACK TO NE PART AND WANTED FOR HIM TO SPAWN THERE, HE DID AFTER ABOUT 5MINS, HAILED AND WENT ON
8) Kill the Spider 0/1 (Dreadlands) BACK TO GIANT FORT
9) Kill another spider 0/1 (Dreadlands) SAME AS ABOVE
10) Escape and return to Sam Napth 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge) DONE

Anniversary Solo Task: Spider's Bite

Anniversary events tend to run from mid-March to mid-April (sometimes to mid-May) each year. They are not available during the "off season".
For an overview and list of EverQuest Anniversary events, see this quest entry. This is a solo task introduced with EverQuest's 13th anniversary. It's expected to only be available during anniversary season (mid-March through mid-April). It begins with Sam Napth, a Halfling in the Plane of Knowledge at about -215, -90, -155 (next to the Soulbinder). You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth' Sam Napth says 'I've been expecting you. I have great need of adventurers to help me deal with an important issue. There are a lot of tasks that need doing, I'd be grateful if you could help me out. You see, I've been trying to prove to some important people that such things are foolishness. So I've arranged some tests to prove it.' A task window pops up offering several anniversary tasks. You have been assigned the task 'Spider's Bite'. Sam Napth has asked you to kill spiders to prove that killing spiders is bad luck. You've killed plenty of spiders before, and while you've had your ups and downs, you haven't noticed any correlation. The oddest part is that he wants you to go to the Dreadlands and kill a specific set of spiders. The mercenary he sent previously has not returned or reported back in any fashion. Journey to the Dreadlands and find the dark elf mercenary 0/1 (Dreadlands) The dark elf mercenary is located at 1490, -5150 by Webmaster Katil -- this is in the northeastern part of the zone. This step updates as you approach the location. You say, 'Hail, a mercenary' a mercenary is dead, and does not respond. Destroy the discovered spiders 0/3 (Dreadlands) Three mobs called "a spider" spawn and attack. They hit for a max ~3,600. They are stunnable. Speak to Webmaster Katil 0/1 (Dreadlands) You say, 'Hail, Webmaster Katil' Webmaster Katil says 'So, another one has shown up? Sent by Napth, are you? I will tell you nothing. I killed the one who came before you. I told her nothing. I do not know what you or Napth want, and I am beyond caring. I'll just kill you instead.' Defeat Webmaster Katil 0/1 (Dreadlands) Katil hits for a max ~10,000. At (random?) health spots, he may respawn at 100%. Just keep at it until he dies. Webmaster Katil casts a spell before being struck down. The corpse left behind is an illusory decoy. Katil still lives. You have slain Webmaster Katil! Take water from the giants and drink it 0/1 (Dreadlands) Task Window Says: You feel parched and a little sick. You need a drink. The large structure of the giants should hold what you seek. It can be found in the frozen wastes nearby. The water from the giants is located at -470, 1940 (inside the giant fortress in the snowy area southwest of Karnor's Castle). Find a cure for the poison and use it 0/1 (Dreadlands) Task Window Says: You are poisoned, and feel gravely ill. The large structure of the giants should hold what you seek. It can be found in the frozen wastes nearby. In the northwest building inside the giant fort, find a ground spawn and drink it. Confront Webmaster Katil 0/1 (Dreadlands) Task Window Says: Webmaster Katil, a drachnid, stands in your way again. Katil spawns outside the giant fortress. Hail him. You say, 'Hail, Webmaster Katil' Webmaster Katil says 'So you managed to cure your poisoning. No matter. You won't manage this time. Napth will have to come himself eventually, and I will finish him then, too.' Kill the spider 0/1 (Dreadlands) "a spider" spawns a short distance away. Kill it. Kill another spider 0/1 (Dreadlands) Kill the next one. Note that these keep spawning, so you'll want to back away from the location. Escape and return to Sam in the Plane of Knowledge 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge) Task Window Says: The spiders cannot be stopped. Flee, and return to Sam Napth in the Plane of Knowledge. You say, 'Hail, Sam Napth' The events certainly played out in a very unfortunate manner, as you've reported to Sam. However, you tend to think that there is something beyond simple bad luck at work in regards to what occurred.
