Is it possible to get this quest at indifferent?

Guard Weleth may be found wandering near the North Gate (/loc?).

You say, 'Hail, Guard Weleth'

Guard Weleth now says, "Hail, Soandso. My name is Weleth Nagoh. In addition to my patrol, I am in charge of keeping the guardhouse [stocked with supplies]. I must get back to my duties. Farewell."

You can ask him "Stocked with what supplies?" and he will offer,

Guard Weleth says 'I must keep the guardhouses here stocked with arrows, rations and water. That reminds me... I still have to [return that blasted crate].'

You say, 'What crate?'

Guard Weleth says 'Oh, we just received a shipment of arrows from [Nesiff] in South Qeynos. The arrows in this box are missing their fletchings and I can't leave my patrol to take them back.'

You say, 'Who is Nesiff?'

Guard Weleth says 'Nesiff Tallaherd owns the wooden weapons shop in Merchant's Square in South Qeynos.'

You say, 'I will take the crate of arrows.'

Guard Weleth says 'Oh, thank you! Here is the crate. Make sure [Nesiff] sends me back a new invoice. [Lieutenant Dagarok] would have my head if he found out this happened again!'

You receive a Crate of Defective Arrows.

Nesiff Tallaherd may be found in South Qeynos in his shop, "Nesiff's Wooden Weapons," at +440, -245.

You say, 'Hail, Nesiff Tallaherd'

Nesiff Tallaherd says 'Greetings, ______! Nesiff Tallaherd, owner and operator of Nesiff's Wooden Weapons, at your service. I am the finest woodworker in all of Qeynos. Even the Qeynos Guard uses my arrows, thanks to [Guard Weleth].'

You say, 'Who is Guard Weleth?'

Nesiff Tallaherd says 'Guard Weleth is like a son to me. He is responsible for purchasing supplies for the Qeynos Guard. He buys arrows from me. He is usually stationed near the North Gate.'

Nesiff Tallaherd says 'Oh dear. I hope my mistake will not bring too much grief down on poor Weleth. He was told not to order arrows from me after the last time I fouled up their shipment. But Weleth knew I needed the account to stay in business. Could you please rush this new invoice to him right away? Thank you.'

INVOICE - NESIFF'S WOODEN WEAPONS - QEYNOS: 19 CRATES - LONG FLIGHT ARROWS - 36 GP CREDIT OF 1 GP AND 9 SP REMAINING DUE TO DEFECTIVE CRATE - CUSTOMER: WELETH, ON BEHALF OF QEYNOS MILITIA

Lieutenant Dagarok wanders near "Crows Pub & Casino" in North Qeynos (/loc?).

You say, 'Hail, Lieutenant Dagarok'

Lieutenant Dagarok says 'How dare you disturb me! You people need to just mind your pathetic lives and leave the rest to us. Leave me now!'

Give him the slip of parchment.

Lieutenant Dagarok says 'What is this? Hmmm. It seems Weleth has a problem with following orders. I will deal with him. Good work in bringing this to my attention. Our job here would be much more difficult without the help of loyal citizens like yourself. Take this as a token of Commander Kane's appreciation.'

Dag will take the note at dubious - so get the crate (use a pc that is amiable to guards if you are not) and have him give you the box. Then you can get your corruipt faction up over and over.

Guard Weleth is on Guards of Qeynos faction, he stands in North Qeynos.
He wanders back and forth at the entrance.

If you stand next to him long enough, you will hear him say

Guard Weleth says 'Argh. Not again. This whole crate needs to be returned!'

You say, 'what crate ?'

Nesiff Tallaherd is in South Qeynos, his shop is named "Nesiff's Wooden Weapons".
Nesiff Tallaherd is at 439.67, -243.51, 3.13

The item you receive from Nesiff when you return the crate is "A Slip of Parchment". Give the parchment to Lieutenant Dagorak for the evil quest.

Lieutenant Dagorak wanders around in North Qeynos near "Crows Pub & Casino", near the pond.

Guard Weleth gives you 'Crate of Defective Arrows'

In a total fit of boredom one day, I decided I'd use my shaman to kill Lashun Novashine (that annoying cleric that always asks us to STOP THE INSANITY and give in to the Temple of Life, or somethin like that) in between buffing newbies in NQ... he wanders around in the NQ yard from time to time, and is green at level 8 or so I think.

Point is, the poor guy dropped five crates of defective arrows.

It worked last night for me. Your problem may be one of faction - indifferent faction or better with the Qeynos Guards (the non-corrupt ones) is required for Guard Weleth to give you the crate. Otherwise he tells you that he "neither likes you nor trusts you, so begone."

This is an excellent newbie quest for anybody starting off in Qeynos. Not only does it quickly raise your Corrupt Guards faction, which will be a lifesaver when you move on to Blackburrow and do the Gnoll Tooth quest, but it also provides a decent amount of experience. My agnostic human monk started out apprehensive to the Corrupt Guards and did this quest at level 3 until she was amaiable (about 8 times or so). The experience took her almost to level 4, and financed a few pieces of cloth armor as well.
There is an even better way....

For a quick way to get Bloodsaber faction up, do this: (Make sure to have pretty good faction with guards of qeynos)
Go to the bank and get about 2k in gold. Get a port to North Karana and head to loc 1400, neg 2700 and look for Guard Shilster. He is a corrupt guard that roams around the zone but spawns in this place, since he gets killed a lot. Hand him 5gp at a time, and you get +Corrupt Qeynos guards, +Bloodsabers, - Qeynos Guards, and some other faction I can't remember. I was scowling to Bloodsabers and after about 3k gp, I am apprehensive now =) Hope this helps a bit
RE: There is an even better way....
# Mar 14 2002 at 3:34 AM Rating: Excellent
Went investigating this bit of info since Bloodsabre is such a pain of a faction to build if you don't have some already.

Shilster ( http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=6658 ) slips you some Blackburrow Stout for your gold... and the fourth faction hit is +Circle of Unseen Hands.

I hope this helps all the folks out there who are sick of having Lt Dagnarok tear them a new one, or just want to be able to train at the evil guilds. Slaughter gnolls... then use your earnings on shilster... and only the Order of Three is left to jump you in town.
Good guards factions

Just wanted to note that if you do the bard note quest while doing this one the only factions youll hurt is Mistmoore and ring of scales. And since you have to pass right by there it isnt really out of the way
The skinny
# Dec 16 2001 at 7:50 PM Rating: Good
Ok I figured this all out and found that doing this quest the evil way is best for everybody. Here is the breakdown:
The good way:
Merchants of Qeynos +2
Circle of Unseen Hands -2
Antonius Bayle +2
Guards of Qeynos +2
Coalition of Tradefolk +1
Corrupt Qeynos Guards -1

The evil way:
Merchants of Qeynos +1
Circle of Unseen Hands cancels out
Antonius Bayle +1
Kane Bayle +1
Coalition of Tradefolk +1
Corrupt Qeynos Guards +1
Guards of Qeynos cancels out
Bloodsabers +1

Following through both parts of this quest the evil way gives nothing but positive faction hits and two that the positive and negative hits cancel each other out. The good way you lose faction in two places. A good way to build your faction in Qeynos without getting caught up in the local politics and making yourself KOS to one side or the other.
RE: The skinny
# Dec 28 2001 at 2:08 AM Rating: Decent
It is not really true that the evil way will give positive faction only. Your faction with GuardsofQeynos and CircleofUnseenHands will slightly go down. The reason is that you lose more faction that you gain (it is not 1:1). But still the evil quest is the better one:)
RE: The skinny
# Feb 18 2002 at 9:24 AM Rating: Default
Actually he is right. just use everlogs and only do the evil quest and you will see the faction hits for getting the invoice from nessif and the invoice to dagarok will give you he said

Actually, Circle of unseen hands is 1:1. I havn't checked other yet, but I believe it to be the same. I maxxed out circle ( the easy way) then did this quest, and have faction still maxeed out.

I see alot about raising CORRUPT GUARD FACTION - just look up the "tattered leather pouch" quest. For S.Queynos. I stumbled over it, it raises this. It does however effect the normal guards....

Sneak?
# Nov 07 2001 at 7:41 AM Rating: Decent
Could a dubious ranger pull off handing him the note by sneaking behind him to hand it in? I've tried sneaking past him before, but as of yet, he remained Dubious, though other corrupt guards went to Indifferent.

Would Wolf Form be an option?

Aside from Left Goblin Ears quest in HHK, I haven't really found a 'safe' (i.e. without destroying other factions) way to raise CorruptQeynosGuards faction (and no way to raise Bloodsabre except this quest).

Edit: I have found ways now... Up to indifferent and still rising.

I know that as long as I don't mash my faction more, I'm safe... but after dragging more than one friends' corpse away from the pond while they pray for a rez... I'd rather not have ol' Daggy give it to me prison style like he has so many others. ;)

What if Dagarok is ready to attack?
# Oct 19 2001 at 1:43 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a level 24 ranger, whom Dagarok has killed several times now. I have a little under 800 hp so that harm touch + 1 attack finishes me - I don't even have time to react when he jumps me.

My corrupt guards faction is kos, while good guards is "can't possibly improve" I've killed a lot of gnolls true, but other quests dropped the corrupt faction more. So I'm wondering what can I do to improve corrupt-guards faction? Maybe I'll think about bloodsabres when these guys don't want to kill me anymore.

Right now I'm suspecting I need to go camp good guards :( And I'd rather find another way.

It also bugs me that with my good faction as high as it can possibly get, when a corrupt guard attacked me when I sat to switch a spell, my good noble ally Lieutenant Arathur... jumped in assisting the corrupt guard instead of me.

I´ve spent 20hours+ doing this quest,.. still KoS to the bloodsabres.

I guess a human enchanter with Rodcet Nife isn´t the best choice after all ;)

The Tacklebox/Bloody Tunic quest in South Qeynos gives a positive hit to Bloodsabers too, not sure how big (I don't intend to wander down to the Sewers to find out. :-))

Has anybody tried casting illusion:iksar and checking faction on that before doing quest work to rase Bloodsaber faction? My Iksar monk started off dubious to Bloodsabers, so that was a convenient place to bank while working on Qeynos factions.
Limited Quest?

I did this quest yesterday and I was limited to doing it only 5 times before 'Guard Weleth' says something like: 'I know you are a good citizen, but I cannot help you with that.. yet.' This leads me to believe that I can redo the quest another time, but I wonder if anyone knows how much time needs to pass before I can restart the quest... Any information would be appreciated.

If you want to get your faction up with the guards of qeynos without killing in BB and you have some money just buy brandy and feed it to rohand in south qeynos. I went from dubious to ally in no time.

Guard Weleth decided not to ask for your help because your faction with the good guards of Qeynos dropped, as a result of doing this quest. You should go kill a few gnolls and then try again.

Factioning an enchanter

Notes: Crate and note are lore but droppable.
You must have the enchanter turn in both the Crate and the note in or he/she will become KOS to the good guards.
Some times someone gets glitched and the guard wont give them a crate (that’s what happened to our enchanter). Then you just hand off crates form someone that’s not glitched.
Doing it like this you only get good faction with Bloodsabers and CorruptQueynosGuards.

Guard Weleth walks a path by the main gate in NQ loc pos216, pos124. He mainly is between the guards shack and the wall. And some times walks into one of the shacks. He has a set path and never despawns.

Nesiff is in south Qeynos in Nesiff’s wooden weapons shop accost for the clock tower and pond in SQ loc pos434, neg233. and he never despawns.

Leutenant Dagorok is in north Qeynos on a spawn despawn timer. Spawns at 11pm if not engaged in questing he will despawn at 7am. But he will always despawn at 9pm, then respawn at 11pm. He stands at the ramp to the monks guild loc pos167, pos254 but walks a path around a building once in a while. His despawn point is at the corner of the building at the night light loc pos29, pos385.

This is what we did to get our enchanter to dubious.
Had friends/guild mates make pallies that started off in Qeynos. Had everyone make hot keys for an invotrys slot that crate and note would fall in and hot key “/say I will return the crate”. Then we all got crates and followed the enchanter to Nesiff in south Qeynos and had the enchanter turn in all the crates by traded off crates for notes. Then followed the enchanter to Leutenant Dagorok then everyone gave the enchanter back the notes one by one. We did this for about a hour and half checked faction under the warrior guild in the Qeynos Catacombs. Faction was moved from KOS to threatening, enchanter cast the lv 51 faction allince and illuion dark elf faction was moved to dubious. And then we did the quest.

Faction changes that I made with Leutenant Dagorok ( CorruptQueynosGuards). Made with a pallie.
Started out at apprehensive.
8th time faction to amiable
28th time faction to kindly
38th time faction to warmly
But was still KOS the bloodsabers but that was more likely a pallie/SK thing.

Thanks for the excellent informamtion! Based on this information I was able to start improving my faction with the Bloodsabres. I have a some more information to add...

The Lieutenant does not spawn / despawn on the schedule described here. As far as I can tell, he never despawns, nor does any other guard in Qeynos. (Trackers have a hard time finding a specific NPC, since not even rangers can sort alphabetically). But he has quite a tendancy to wander, and can be difficult to find.

He spends most of his time making the circuit around Crow's, but sometimes heads over to the gate. Being very aggressive to those he hates, he may then get pulled a good ways out into the newbie area -- nothing like a 600pt Harm Touch on a level 1 snake! I've also watched him head into the "barracks" at the gate, so make sure you check there. I've never seen him wander into the area of the Temple of Life, presumably because he hates them. (The Corporal, who is good-aligned, does drop by the temple regularly).

The two parts of this quest both raise and lower some factions (QeynosGuards and CircleOfUnseenHands). I don't think you need to worry too much about becoming KoS to anyone, but do keep an eye on your QeynosGuards faction -- just kill gnolls if it becomes an issue.

I started out "Ready To Attack" to the Bloodsabres and "Dubious" to the corrupt guards. After about two hours I was still "Ready To Attack" to the Bloodsabres, but "Ally" to the currupt guards! The corrupt guard faction bonus is large!

I decided to enlist the help of newbies. I would /ooc that I was looking for people to run errands for coin, levels 1-5, safe and easy. Of course any level can do it, but those are most desperate for coin to buy their spells. After showing them the quest, I promised to buy receipts from them for 1pp each. They'd do 1 or 2 runs, and then ask how many more. I'd say "many many many" and they'd get excited :). I had 3 people ding just from turning

I found it most efficient to just sit at the feet of Lt. Dagarok, hailing him to keep his attention. Every time a reciept appeared in my trade screen, I'd toss in 1pp, and then give the receipt to the Lt. While waiting for them to make the circuit, I'd /ooc looking for more helpers. The particularly nice ones also got +2 stat rings as extra thanks.

I've probably spent about 5 hours doing this now, and finally the Bloodsabres have moved to "Threateningly". I can't get close enough to use the Alliance line without aggro yet, but I want good faction anyway, so I'll continue until I get "Indifferent".

Sound like a pain? Not really, I've gotten to meet lots of nice people, and help them get started with a few platinum in the bank. And remember - if it was easy, it wouldn't be "epic".

Just to follow up, and carry this thread even further off-topic!

After 1 more day questing, I got to "Dubious" with the Bloodsabres. Around the same time, my GuardsofQeynos faction dropped all the way to "Amiably", but killing a few Gnoll trains in Blackburrow fixed that right up.

I entered the sewers and tried applying Benevolence, but was still at Dubious. (I don't have Collaboration yet, haven't gotten around to visiting FV yet. Sue me :))

I was able to safely walk into Bertoxx Temple and get the empty vial without further improvements to my faction.

Last night I made my way to Lower Guk and found that a friend was camping the Sage. I kept him company for a few hours until the Scribe spawned, and had no trouble at all charming him - he was quite green to me at 51.

I now have the Paper, Ink, and the SMR for the Pen, but I'm going to hold off as long as I can. The SMR is a nice robe, I don't want to turn it in before I have to!

Well, good luck to other Enchanters, and anyone else who decides that good Bloodsabre faction might be nice to have.

Take care!

First You have to give the crate to Nesiff. Then You give the note to Lt. Dagorok.
