This quest begins with Astaed Wemor in the Temple of Life of North Qeynos. You will need to be at least Amiable (150) to Priests of Life.

A summary:

- Give Kizzie Mintopp three honeycombs and 30 gold pieces for the Honey Jum.

- Take the Honey Jum to Astaed Wemor to receive a potion.

- Take the potion to Lempeck Hargrim of West Karana and receive a NO DROP Rusty Scythe in return.

- Take the Rusty Scythe to Astaed Wemor for the Shining Star of Light.

In detail:

You say, 'Hail, Astaed Wemor'

Astaed Wemor says 'Greetings. I am Astaed Wemor of the Paladins of the Temple of Life. We are the defenders of the all-giving Prime Healer. Are you [here to pray] or are you [here to assist the temple]?'

You say, 'I am here to assist the temple'

Astaed Wemor says 'Good. There are a few in the congregation who require assistance. Will you be [traveling afar] or are you [staying close to Qeynos]?'

You say, 'I will be traveling afar'

Astaed Wemor says 'Then outfit yourself well. We will require you to visit Rivervale, the village of the halflings. There you shall find an herb merchant named Kizzie Mintopp. She has an ingredient we require. Tell her you are from the Temple of Life.'

Find Kizzie Mintopp in Rivervale and tell her you're from the Temple of Life.

You say, 'Hail, Kizzie Mintopp'

Kizzie Mintopp says 'Enough talk there, chatterbox. You buy lots of herbs. I gotta make a living, not more friends.'

You say, 'I am from the Temple of Life'

Kizzie Mintopp says 'Oh, yes.. They always come for Kizzie's [honey jum]. They should have sent you next week. There is a [problem].'

You say, 'What honey jum?'

Kizzie Mintopp says 'It's a secret!! I get the honeycombs and combine them with the secret sauce and..presto.. honey jum!! It is used by only the wisest as a component. And you can only get it from Kizzie. It is also good on batwing crunchies. If you like.. Kizzie can [make honey jum] for you?'

You say, 'Make honey jum for me'

Kizzie Mintopp says 'No, no, no!! You will not get honey jum until you give Kizzie three honeycombs and thirty gold coins. Honey jum is valuable. Kizzie raised the fee!! That is how it works.'

You say, 'What problem?'

Kizzie Mintopp says 'You see.. Joogl Honeybugger is hurt. He usually collects the [Honeycombs]. Only he knows where to get them. I need the Honeycombs to make the Honey Jum. Go and speak with Joogl. He is at his burrow outside of Rivervale. He says he cannot work. Tell him you need the Honeycombs.'

Joogl Honeybugger is found in Misty Thicket...

You say, 'Hail, Joogl Honeybugger'

Joogl Honeybugger says 'Hello. I would shake your hand, but it would [hurt]. Ooooh! Owwy!'

You say, 'I need the honeycombs'

Joogl Honeybugger says 'If you're looking for the honeycombs, I don't have any right now. I have been unable to get any since I was attacked by the little [buggers]. I will tell you where to get some if you will only get me a bandage for my bites.'

You say, 'What buggers?'

Joogl Honeybugger says 'I was attacked by the bixies. They swarmed on me!! I think I got too near their queen. I need that honey to make a living! Get me a bandage and I will tell you where all their worker bees buzz around.'

Give him a bandage...

Joogl Honeybugger says 'Oh thank you, _____. If you are ever going to gather bixie honeycombs pray you do not run into the queen. The only way I know of collecting the honey is by intercepting the drones and taking the honeycombs they sometimes carry. Good luck !!'

Kizzie Mintopp says 'This is not all!! Kizzie says, three honeycombs and thirty gold coins!! Oooh!! They never listen.'
Kizzie Mintopp says 'This is not all!! Kizzie says, three honeycombs and thirty gold coins!! Oooh!! They never listen.'
Kizzie Mintopp says 'You are one lucky bixie buster. I just made a batch of honey jum. Here. No waiting for you. One jar for your good work. Bye, now!'

And then head back to Qeynos for the turn in:

Astaed Wemor says 'I pray to Rodcet Nife that you have made it back in time. Let's add a small amount of this honey jum to this and.. here is the potion. This potion must be taken to a sick member of the congregation. The man is Lempeck Hargrin. He lives in the west plains of Karana between the river and the crop fields. He is in dire need of this potion. He has an odd disease. We have tried everything to cure him and this is his last chance. Run to him.'

You say, 'Hail, Lempeck Hargrin'

Lempeck Hargrin says 'Gree.. .. tings. How are you? Don't get too close to me. I have come down with something bad.'
Lempeck Hargrin says 'Thank you!! I felt the madness nearing my brain, but now I feel much better. Please take this as thanks - it is all I have to donate to Astaed Wemor. Be sure he gets it. I shall thank Rodcet Nife every day for sending help.'

Bring the scythe back to Astaed.

Head back to Qeynos for the final turn in:

Astaed Wemor says 'It is good to know that we saved Lempeck. He has given us his scythe as a donation to the temple. We shall find a use for it. As for your fine work at preserving the life of another, I reward you with the Shining Star of Life. Should you ever desire more strength in battle, call upon it to give you strength, but let it be known that at battle's end, you shall feel weaker than before you called upon the power. Just for a short time. When the power is drained, go to our temple storehouse and ask Whysia to [recharge the Shining Star of Life]. Go and serve life.'

finished it!
# Feb 17 2001 at 11:00 PM Rating: Decent
I just finished this quest!!! It wouldn't have been too bad except for the fact that I kept getting PK'd in Rivervale by the Short Fuse guild. Now I have a majic weapon!! I also posted that I recieved the Prime Healer poiton not the one stated above. It worked just as well. Altho when I gave the Honeyjunm to the cleric the game crashed it for no reason!! But it saved the Potion on my inventory.

Need help on Kizzie faction
# Feb 09 2001 at 6:46 PM Rating: Decent
Here's a good one for you faction junkies out there. I am an Erudite Paladin and Kizzie cons apprehensive to me. I really don't want to use a mule character. Is there any way to get faction with her up? I've gotten to amiable with Guadians of the Vale, but started indifferent with that faction. It seems like noone here (except for one poster) had any problem with Kizzie faction. Is it tied to the Priest of Life faction (they are apprehensive to me too)? I'm not sure if I can ever get Merchants of Vale up to amiable. Please help!! I am dying to do this quest but don't want to make a mule!

Oh, heck ... You don't need a mule ... what you need is a friend in Rivervale. Look for a newbie, and offer to buy the honeyjum from them for 5 or 6 plat. You might need to supply the honeycombs, which are dropped by some of the bixie drones in Misty Thicket, and which can sometimes be found on the vendors in Misty Thicket or in Rivervale if somebody has been selling theirs to the merchants.

Good quest for non healers

I do this quest as a 20th level wood elf ranger. Lempeck never attacks and I always get the SSL when I am done. Sells from 50-70PP depending on day and my mood. Takes an hour if I do not get a SOW. NOTE: I did the blessed oil quest once or twice to make sure I had faction before I tried this. You may want to do same. Anyways, good money for anyone who Lempeck doesn't hate.

The quest is timed from when you get the curing potion. After doing the quest a few times I've seen that it has nothing to do with the potion you take to Lempeck but everything to do with how long it takes to get to him. Also it doesn't matter if it is day or night. Before you get the cure have a sow or something similar and be sure you know exactly how to get to his house.

Is it possible for a dark elf cleric to do this quest? Somehow I don't think I would be very welcome in the Temple of Life, much less regarded amiably. :P And since I'm most likely KOS there, it's not like I can turn in bone chips there to raise faction. Anyone know of any other way to raise faction or am I just never gonna get this weapon?

P.S. Bloodsabers worship Bertoxxulus. If you do too you might want to forget about doing this.

Priests of Life really hate Bloodsabers. If you dont mind messin up that faction (Qey underground SK and Necro, probably some evil cleric there too - but they dont much like DEs anyway). Go out to SK and kill the skeletons at Grimrot's till you can't stand it. Pretty sure it raises both PriestsofLife and KnightsofThunder faction. Possibly 'good' Qeynos Guard as well. You will have lots of bone chips to take back and raise faction even more. You will mess up Bloodsabers anyway, just about every quest you do for cleric/paladin in Qey lowers it. Good luck.

What is with Kizzie?
# Nov 29 2000 at 7:34 AM Rating: Default
I kept trying to get honey jum from Kizzie, but she loos at me "apprehensively" , so I had a Halfling OC buy it from her for me, and continued the quest. Got killed by Lempeck, wrong potion, I guess. Only brought 1 bottle of JumJum, too. Which way do you think is better to go to Rivervale, from Qeynos? I am omly level 11 now, got killed in HP already.
RE: What is with Kizzie?
# Dec 10 2000 at 11:32 AM Rating: Default
You can only have one bottle of Honey Jum at a time since it's lore. As for routes, if you can cast an invisibility spell it's probably easier to go through Kithicor (daytime only) and Highpass. Otherwise you should make a brief dash through the top of Runnyeye and then carefully work your way along the wall in the Beholder's Maze to get to East Karana.
Neat Weapon

Hi all, I got my shining star on the second try. Went to rivervale and got the honeyjum, ran to qeynos and got the antidote(or what ever he gives you). The first time i tryed this lempeck was sitting inside his house, he proceeded to attack me after i gave him the potion. The on my second try Lempeck was on his roof paceing back and forth and he gave me the nodrop scythe. I did this all with my bard, i had to use my charisma/faction song to get an amiable. I started out with indifferent before the song:) the only thing that confuses me is that the weapon proc. doesn't cure "weak poison" but it does cure other poisons and it heals a bit too.
Personally my cleric loves this and if your a high enough level to get the honeycombs and make the run its doable, with the right faction of course.
Good Luck,
Kilil Glitterkid, Bard of the 22nd song.

I went from indifferent to amiable with the guy and he still won't give me the quest... he just keeps telling me to either do the clothspinner quest or the rabid hides thing. I'm a halfling, if that makes any difference.. I'ma bout to give up on even trying.
RE: amiable???
# Jan 29 2001 at 3:59 PM Rating: Default
As a high elf I took an age to get enough faction to get this quest. I had to do a fair bit even after I was amiable. I did the blessed oil quest over and over to get my faction when rabid whatnots were hard to find.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 08 2001 at 9:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There are two different ways of amiable. You have to go on hunting rabid animals or give Lashun 2gps till you got the correct "amiable"

Ochre Potion of Disease Warding causes attack
# Sep 23 2000 at 1:55 PM Rating: Default
Identify the potion first. If it is an Ochre Potion of Disease Warding be prepared to run or defend yourself. You still get the same faction hits when you give the potion to Lempock, but he attacks you. I ran. I didn't want negative faction hits for killing him. I don't know if you would get negative faction hits or not; I didn't want to chance it. BTW I don't know Lempock's level; I was over level 20 both times I did this quest. If someone has killed Lempock in self defense please post if there are any faction hits and if so what are they? Incidentally the mace is a very nice item; the cleanse proc (as far as I know) is unique to this item and extremely useful when fighting necros, shamans, and various undead that cause disease, poison, blindness, etc. Also the amount of light may look like a little amount to an Erudite but my Elven cleric switched back and forth between the mace and a greater lightstone and they appear to provide the same amount of light. (The mace must be equipped of course, not just in your inventory like the GLS)

yea, he attacked and i stood in... this was in my low 20s high teens.. he was blue. i barely took him down.. thank Marr for flash of light.. got no items and basically a reverse faction call from giving it to him. ticked me off. talked to a gm, said they'd look into it.. never heard from anyone again

What level does the SSOL proc at?
RE: Proc levle
# Sep 18 2000 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent

This weapon procs at level one! I tested it on a level one cleric from Paineel. It is a nice mace, and gives a little bit of light off too for us blind erudites, hehe. The best thing so far that this proc cured me of was the PlagueRatDisease, it usually adds about 5-10 HP when it procs too.
Notes on faction....
# Aug 28 2000 at 7:53 PM Rating: Decent
You must be at least "amiable" with PriestsOfLife before you will be able to receive this quest.

The easiest way to do this is collecting bone chips. You can turn them in to Lashun Novashine for faction; it took approximately 60-70 chips for me(High Elf Cleric of Tunare) to go from "Apprehensive" to "Indifferent".

You can also hunt rabid wolves and rabid bears, and turn in their pelts to the priestess in leather armor in the temple proper. You get better faction for this, plus 2pp and an Endure Disease scroll(L14 spell) for the bear pelts. However, the rabid animals are a bit rare, and you run the risk of being discovered by the infamous Eco-Terrorists of Qeynos Hills, Holly Windstalker and Cros Treewind. This took me from 'Indifferent' to 'Amiable' after turning in about 10 assorted pelts.

RE: Notes on faction....
# Oct 07 2000 at 4:29 PM Rating: Default
Two more ways to raise faction with the Priests of Light: Lashun Novashine also accepts donations of 2 gold pieces. Unfortunately you can't just give him 100 gold pieces, you have to give him 50 times 2 gold pieces.

The other way is to do the Bandit Sash quest. Every sash not only gives you money and a weapon, you also get faction for the Priests of Light and other good Queynos factions.
Lempeck only attacks when
# Aug 27 2000 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
Check the potion given by Aested Wemor. If it is a Prime Healer potion, it will work. He gives out one of 4 different possible potions in return for the Honey Jum. If Aested gives you the wrong potion, get him another Honey Jum, until you get the right potion.
RE: Lempeck only attacks when
# Aug 31 2000 at 3:00 AM Rating: Default
My potion said it was the prime healer potion but when I identified it, it said ochre ward vs disease and he attacked me.
RE: Lempeck only attacks when
# Sep 09 2000 at 7:26 AM Rating: Default

I just handed him a potion that said it was a Prime Healer Potion... didn't identify it, didn't realize I needed to. He attacked me.

So just seeing what it says is not enough... you need to cast Identify on it.

He attacks at night

The sicknes causes him to go crazy at night
RE: He attacks at night
# Mar 18 2001 at 3:18 AM Rating: Default
Nonsense. I just finished giving him the Potion. I gave Astaed the Jum at night. Before leaving Qeynos I had it identified and it was a Potion of Disease Warding. I got to Lempeck's house after stopping for 2 fights along the way. (Which casts doubt on the timed quest theory.) It was 2 AM Norrath time when I gave him the potion, and I got the Scythe for the Star. So much for the night theory.
Confused Effect
# Aug 22 2000 at 4:27 AM Rating: Default
Well, I just completed the quest and when i got the mace, Astead Wemore describes the effect of the mace as Reckless Strength, and says it can be recharged by Whysia. However, the weapon descriptions lists the effect as cleanse so the Reckless Strength effect may not really exist. I had Whysia "recharge" the weapon, but this had no apparent effect.

In FP I did the piranha quest and when I did it I got a potion of disease warding, I brought Lempek the potion and IT WORKED!!! I then finished the quest and gave away the starto a Paladin
Other potion didn't work
# Sep 11 2000 at 3:48 AM Rating: Default
I did the message quest involving the guy sitting by the lake in WComm and Diggin who runs up with the note you need and then runs away. The reward for that quest is also a potion of disease warding but when I gave it to Lempeck he just said 'Erm..thanks..etc'. I wondered of my faction was not good enough as it is only indifferent with the Priests of Life. Astaed woudln't give me the potion when I gave him the honey jum as he said he didn't trust me enough

Mace mix up
# Aug 03 2000 at 2:54 PM Rating: Decent
I'm a 19th lvl cleric on Fennin Ro, and I got this hammer at around 6th level, and used it till about 13 or so. It does proc cleanse, mine only happened when i didn't need it too (lol), but it has no strength proc, the screaming mace does proc Yaulp, a str/ac spell, but I do not know of any weapon that procs the useless reckless strength spell. And the gls effect itself is almost enough to make the weapon worth it at times :)
RE: Mace mix up
# Oct 07 2000 at 7:59 AM Rating: Default
Uh ever heard of the Polished Granite Tomahawk, its 6/25 1hslash, procs reckless strengh. Pretty nice item!
RE: Mace mix up
# Oct 27 2000 at 7:10 AM Rating: Default
Actually the PGT procs Bezerker Strength, not the useless reckless strength.
Paladins
# Jul 20 2000 at 5:18 PM Rating: Decent
Highly recommended for paladins. You can get a magic weapon very early in your carreer which is important if you are not a twink. You might think, a paladin with a 1Hb? but we are 15 before we get the hammer spell, and that is your first conjuring spell, so good luck casting it. It does not proc reckless strength or did not in the 5 levels I used one constantly. (sure you dont have it confused with the screaming mace?) =)

This quest was a pain to do, I had to buy the darn honeycombs. The mace seemed to never proc cleanse and when it did it did not cleanse my ghoul root. I never saw it cast reckless strength. Use your conjured hammer at low level, or save and buy one of those cheap magic one-handers floating around.

This is probably the best 'starter' quest for young Clerics. Make sure your faction with the clerics is amiable and make sure that they give you the quest. Once you complete it, you'll have a very nice mace that procs at a low low level. Cleanse, the mace's proc, will remove one negative effect, and procs fairly commonly. The mace also has a spell of reckless strength when used, and itself gives off light as a Greater Lightstone. You can use this until you upgrade to a CIMS or Screaming Mace
Warning to Gnomes
# Jun 29 2000 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
Just a warning to any Gnomes that might want to do this quest. Lempeck Hargrim seems to have a thing against gnomes. I did this quest in gnome form, and Lempeck took the potion, and I got the faction hits, but no Scyth. Lemmpeck then proceeded to kill me. I re did the quest and used illusion human, and had no problems.
