Initiating the Expedition

You say, 'Hail, Reklor Irespine'

Reklor Irespine reaches out for you as al struggles to speak, 'I owe you my life, _____, and many apologies. My mind and body betrayed me as a foreign [essence] entered my soul, bringing with it a volatile rage which I was unable to control. Without your [help], I fear the possessing spirit would have taken over completely.'

You say, 'What essence?'

Reklor Irespine winces as al recalls the recent events, 'As you placed the stones within the temple, I felt a surge of energy flow through the air. It was as though the sentry stones were conduits for spirits of some sort, allowing passage from their world into this one. Once the final stone was set, a crippling wave rushed over me. My body was still, but I could feel my veins begin to flow with a foreign power... And then I blacked out, only to awake [broken] and filled with painful regret over what I had unknowingly done.'

You say, 'Broken?'

Reklor Irespine pauses, sucking in air with visible discomfort, 'I fear I won't ever fully recover from the trauma my body received, but something must be done. The power within the force that possessed me; it was greater than anything I have ever known. Where a [power] like that could come from? I can hardly guess, but it seems to manifest itself using the sentry stones.'

You say, 'What power?'

Reklor Irespine speaks with certainty, 'It is clear to me what needs to be done. The sentry stones must be destroyed. I am no match for the power they contain, but you somehow managed to resist possession. Whether by luck or mental fortitude, it does not matter. Tell me, do you have a large force [willing] to destroy the stones, or perhaps you are [able] to complete the task with a smaller group?'

You say, 'We are willing'

Reklor Irespine says, in Alaran, 'Maintain your focus, and keep our goal at the forefront of your mind. Let me know when you are [ready].'

Two Sides of the Stone is now available to you.

Triggering the Event

You say, 'Hail, a sentry stone'

a sentry stone trembles while subtle [whispers] can be heard from within.

You say, 'What are these whispers?'

a sentry stone begins to shake as the murmurs grow into a cacophony of voices, filling the room.

After a few seconds, "Avatar of Ladrys" spawns and attacks.

The Avatar

The main mob switches forms every 65 seconds, alternating between "Avatar of Ladrys" (its starting form) and "Avatar of Sholoth". Both hit for a max ~25,000; flurry (no rampage); and summon from 100% health.

They both cast a spell called "Disruption" which hits every player on their hatelist. This hits for 18,000; interrupts spell casting; and may cause spells to be locked out for a few seconds. Reportedly, the faster you do damage to the Avatar, the more often this spell is cast (it is a punishment for too much DPS).

From here, the two Avatars have varying abilities.

Avatar of Ladrys

While the Avatar of Ladrys is live, a spell slow aura is active in the room ("Aura of Resplendence"). This decreases spell haste by 60%.

Ladrys casts the targeted AE spell "Purification" on random players:

Purification: Targeted AE 20', Magic (-920)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 29000 per tick
2: Decrease Effective Casting Level by 200
3: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%

Every 15-25 seconds (random), Ladrys spawns an add called "inner darkness". This spawns on top of a random player and mimics that player's form. These adds buff themselves with "Mirror", hit for a max ~10,000 and single-target rampage. If they are not killed within 15 seconds, they AE the spell "Inner Darkness" and despawn:

Mirror: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Illusion: Target
2: Increase Attack Speed by 40%

Inner Darkness: PB AE 40', Magic (-920)
1: Blindness (1) (1 tick)
2: Decrease HP when cast by 56300

Avatar of Sholoth

While the Avatar of Sholoth is live, a melee slow aura is active in the room ("Aura of Decay"). This decreases Attack by 200 and decreases attack speed by 70%.

Sholoth casts the targeted AE spell "Wave of Filth" on random targets:

Wave of Filth: Targeted AE 30', Disease (-920)
1: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect) (1 tick)
2: Decrease HP when cast by 41700

Every so often, Sholoth spawns an unattackable, non-targettable pool of waste (appears as a black ooze). As long as you stand in them, you'll be chain-casted with "Sludge" (there is a small delay between their spawn and the point in time when their aura goes live):

Sludge: Single Target, Disease (-920)
1: Decrease Movement by 60%
2: Decrease Mana by 5000
3: Decrease Endurance by 2000
4: Decrease Hitpoints by 52300

The Splits: Timers & Power-Ups

As the Avatar reaches a health increment, it goes inactive (adds do not despawn) and you see this emote:

Forced from its host, the possessing essence splits into shades of decay and splendor, fleeing to the east and west towers respectively.

This happens when the Avatar reaches 75%, 50%, and 25%.

At this time, four NPCs spawn: One sentry stone on either side of the room ("a perfect stone" in the west and "a diseased stone" in the east), and a mini-named in either tower ("Vision of Splendor" in the west tower and "Shadow of Decay" in the east tower).

You need to split the raid and engage the two mini-nameds at the same time, however you have a few moments before you have to port to the towers. You can actually wait as long as you want, but the mini-nameds will power up 3:05 after the Avatar goes inactive (with an additional power-up every 3 minutes thereafter).

65 seconds after the Avatar goes inactive, you'll see this emote:

Whispers of splendor and decay call you to the west and east towers.

Two minutes after that, you'll see this emote:

As time passes, the shades of splendor and decay grow in strength.

It's recommended you port up before the power-up; however, the mini-nameds are still quite manageable even after one power-up. Any more power-ups than that, and you may have a difficult time staying alive.

To port to a mini-named's tower, all you need to do is approach its corresponding sentry stone (there is no hail; you will automatically port up to the tower if you get close to the stone).

The west stone ("a perfect stone") ports you to the Vision of Splendor's tower and the east stone ("a diseased stone") ports you to the Shadow of Decay's tower. Upon porting up, you'll automatically be warped to the center of the room, aggro'ing the named (which summon 100% health).

The Splits: Mini-Nameds

With no power-ups, the Vision of Splendor and Shadow of Decay each hit for a max ~20,000. With a single power-up, they hit for a max ~25,000. Their DPS increases with further power-ups.

Both of them flurry. Neither of them rampage. Neither of them have any regular AEs. Both of them have additional abilities based on which split you're on (details are in the sections below).

These two mobs must be balanced in health. They must remain within 5% of each other's health, or they'll heal the difference +5%:

In an effort to restore balance, Splendor and Decay begin to heal.

Failure to follow their mechanics (details in the sections below) also results in a 10% heal.

NOTE: Upon a mini-named's death, the players in that tower are immediately ported back to the Avatar's room. The Avatar remains inactive until both mini-nameds are dead, at which point it re-aggro's.

The First Split (75%): Vision of Splendor

Vision of Splendor calls to all those before it, 'Impure souls, tainted with magic, are no challenge for me!'

Few among many must rid themselves of magical effects.

A few people must remain buffless for the entire duration of this split (reported as low as three people, but may be 4-5). This includes songs and aura effects (but not debuffs or rez effects).

During this split, in addition to its regular abilities, the Vision of Splendor casts "Resplendence" (hits four random targets at a time) and "Burst of Brilliant Light" (AE):

Resplendence: Single Target, Disease (-920)
1: Silence
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 19300 per tick

Burst of Brilliant Light: PB AE 30', Disease (-920)
1: Knockback (4) and Toss Up (3)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 16800

The First Split (75%): Shadow of Decay

The Shadow of Decay calls to all those before it, 'I demand an offering of rot and decay, made from the flesh of your own!'

The Shadow of Decay AEs "Rot", which leads to the AE "Decaying Flesh" (which gives a zombie illusion):

Rot: Single Target, Disease (-920)
1: Root
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 23780 per tick
3: Improved Spell Effect: Decaying Flesh
4: Increase corruption counter by 30
5: Stun (4.00 sec)

Decaying Flesh: Self 0', Corruption (-900)
1: 100% Chance to trigger: Zombie Rot
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 16400 per tick
3: Increase corruption counter by 30
4: Decrease Attack Speed by 80%

At least 12 people must keep these DOTs on them. The Shadow will check for this requirement every 6 seconds, so it must be kept on you at all times. Reportedly, having too many people with the DOT up can cause bugs, so it's recommended you have a fixed amount of people keep the DOT while others cure it.

As long as too few people have the DOT on them, the Shadow of Decay will regenerate a significant amount of health per tick.

The Second Split (50%): Vision of Splendor

The Vision of Splendor casts "Filth" as part of her emote mechanics as well as "Purification":

Filth: Single Target, Unresistable (-900)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 39000 per tick

Purification: Targeted AE 20', Magic (-920)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 29000 per tick
2: Decrease Effective Casting Level by 200
3: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%

At certain health intervals (non-repeating), adds called "a pure essence" spawn (immune to mez and stun; hit for a max ~18,500). If an add is not killed within a certain time frame, the Vision of Splendor regenerates 10% health and will continue to do so until the add is dead.

Every 30 seconds, three random players get an emote. Those people must locate the Purity Stone and move to its location to cure themselves. This is a small sentry stone that appears in one of the windows. You have 12 seconds to do this before the fail mechanic kicks in.

Everyone Sees: Vision of Splendor shouts, '_____, _____, and _____: Cleanse yourself of the filth that clings to your souls!'

Target Sees: Seek out the purity stone to remove the filth that surrounds you.

On a Successful Cure: You have been cleansed.

On a Fail (Vision regens health): Vision of Splendor shouts, '_____ is still covered in filth!'

The Second Split (50%): Shadow of Decay

During this fight, the Shadow of Decay casts "Wave of Filth":

Wave of Filth: Targeted AE 30', Disease (-920)
1: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect)
2: Decrease HP when cast by 41700

At certain health intervals (non-repeating), adds called "a cesspool" spawn (immune to mez and stun; hit for a max ~18,500). If an add is not killed within a certain time frame, the Shadow of Decay regenerates 10% health and will continue to do so until the add is dead.

Every 30 seconds, three random players get an emote. Those people must jump out a window. (Note: Levitation effects greatly slow your jump speed, so click them off before initiating this portion of the event.) You have 12 seconds to jump before the fail mechanic kicks in.

Everyone Sees: Shadow of Decay shouts, '_____, _____, and _____ must throw yourselves from the tower as a sacrifice to Sholoth!

Target Sees: Jump from this tower as the ultimate sacrifice to Sholoth!

On a Successful Jump: You have made the proper sacrifice.

On a Failed Jump (Shadow regens health): Shadow of Decay shouts, '_____ failed to make the sacrifice!'

NOTE: Only a player with the emote should make the jump. If you have the emote and jump, you'll be ported back into the room. If you don't have the emote, you'll simply fall to your death.

The Third Split (25%): Vision of Splendor

Vision of Splendor calls to all within its reach, 'Pray for purity, to cleanse your minds and bodies, or suffer my wrath!'

During this fight, "inner darkness" adds spawn and attack, hitting for a max ~15,000 (immune to mez and stun; single-target rampages). These cast "Inner Darkness" if they're not killed within 15 seconds. The Vision of Splendor, itself, doesn't have any additional AEs here.

Shortly after engaging, a random person will be given a book, "Book of Prayers" (you'll see an emote indicating who receives it).

You'll need at least five people to keep the book passed around (to pass it, target a player and right-click the book). The book, when clicked, triggers the spell "Prayer of Purity" on you. All players passing the book around must keep this spell up via the book:

Prayer of Purity: Single Target, Unresistable (-900)
1: Silence (2 ticks)
2: Decrease Mana by 6000 per tick
3: Decrease Endurance by 900 per tick
4: Trigger Effect: Strained Voice on Fade
5: Decrease Hitpoints by 16400 per tick

NOTE: If "Prayer of Purity" fades from you, a new effect takes over: "Strained Voice" (lasts 1-2 ticks and still counts toward the NPC's "prayer" requirement). This effect may impact your ability to click the book. You can pass it, but you won't get rebuffed with "Prayer of Purity" (which you need on you in order to prevent the NPC from regenerating).

If you get "Strained Voice" on you, wait until it fades and then quickly pass the book along before the named takes notice (you'll have a 3-4 second window).

Upon Passing the Book: You recite the Prayer of Purity as you pass the book to _____.

Upon Failure (Vision regens health): The Prayer of Purity must be maintained.

The Third Split (25%): Shadow of Decay

Shadow of Decay calls to all within its reach, 'Sing your chants of decay! Fill your minds and bodies with disease, or suffer my wrath!'

During this fight, black oozes spawn on random people. These have a damage aura (the same ones that spawn with the Avatar of Sholoth). The Shadow of Decay, itself, doesn't have any AEs here.

Shortly after engaging, a random person will be given a book, "Book of Chants" (you'll see an emote indicating who receives it).

You'll need at least five people to keep the book passed around (to pass it, target a player and right-click the book). The book, when clicked, triggers the spell "Chant of Decay" on you. All players passing the book around must keep this spell up via the book:

Chant of Decay: Single Target, Unresistable (-900)
1: Amnesia (Silence vs Melee Effect) (2 ticks)
2: Decrease Endurance by 3000 per tick
3: Decrease Mana by 2000 per tick
4: Trigger Effect: Strained Voice on Fade
5: Decrease Hitpoints by 16400 per tick

NOTE: If "Chant of Decay" fades from you, a new effect takes over: "Strained Voice" (lasts 1-2 ticks and still counts toward the NPC's "chant" requirement). This effect may impact your ability to click the book. You can pass it, but you won't get rebuffed with "Chant of Decay" (which you need on you in order to prevent the NPC from regenerating).

If you get "Strained Voice" on you, wait until it fades and then quickly pass the book along before the named takes notice (you'll have a 3-4 second window).

Upon Passing the Book: You recite the Chant of Decay as you pass the book to _____.

Upon Failure (Shadow regens health): The Chant of Decay must be maintained.

I believe that only three players must remain buffless. It is wise to have more if any of the buffless will be casting (Go, go, GoM!).

The time before power up is now three minutes, not two.

The time to reach a purity stone is now 12 seconds.
