Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This raid expedition begins with General Serobi in Sarith. He's found in the northeastern part of the dock area at about 20, -1050, 4.

Pre-requisites for requesting the raid:
- Completion of "Oseka's Knowledge"
- Completion of "Sacred Relics"
- Completion of "Tides of Change"
- Completion of "The Key to Freedom"
- Completion of "Begin the Offensive"
- Completion of "Assault the Tower" (group mission)
- Completion of "Time and Tides" (group mission)
- Completion of Valley of Lunanyn raid: "The Herald of Oratory"
- Completion of Sarith raid: "The Defeat of Prexus"
- Minimum skill level in Alaran: 73

Pre-requisites for participating in this raid:
- There are no task or language requirements.
- Your "Record of Tales" must be evolved to, at a minimum, its third level: "Record of Lore" (NOTE: See this raiding guide for information about VOA raid progression.)

Summary

- Say "enter" to General Serobi to launch the expedition and receive the trigger item.
- Once inside the zone and ready, right-click the "Fury of the Tides" to activate the event.
- Kill five out of the six High Priests.
------ Follow whirlpool emotes.
------ Fend off and kill templar adds.
------ Kill zealots as they spawn.
------ Stay off the water to avoid additional adds.
- Numerous people (at least 10, or more) should loot the talismans from templar corpses.
- With just one High Priest left, the people with talismans must target the High Priest and right-click the talisman.
------ All clicks must be done within several seconds of each other.
- After successful clicks, approximately 12 (or more) zealots spawn and need to be killed.
------ These additional zealots come from the bottom three alcoves and possibly from further up the ramp.
- Once the clicks are done and the zealots killed, the event is won.

Initiating the Raid

You say, 'Hail, General Serobi'

Without pre-requisites, you'll see:

General Serobi says 'You are not yet ready for the task I have planned. Speak with Solphius Kelprunner, Tiljin of the Deep, or Aquarn the Tidalmaster if you wish to help.'

With pre-requisites, you'll see:

You say, 'Hail, General Serobi'

General Serobi bows respectfully in greeting, 'You look well rested, _____. This is good. You will need your strength for what lies ahead. While your efforts thus far have been commendable, it is clear now that it will take a much greater force to stop Oseka. Large or small, all help is needed. Tell me, do you have a [group] or a [raiding party] on hand, or perhaps you're willing to make another [move] against the Temple of Rubak Oseka?'

You say, 'A raiding party'

General Serobi nods with understanding, 'Ah, a raid. This will help immensely. To be able to possess the bodies of alir High Priests is a [power] unlike any I have ever witnessed. If the source of alir strength lies in Rubak, we shall find it, and use it against alir.'

You say, 'What power?'

General Serobi says 'Just as Prexus derives power from the oceans of Norrath, Oseka must be sustained from something within Rubak. Finding this source of power, however, won't be an easy task. Oseka and alir High Priests are likely expecting an attack...' The General reaches within his robe and withdraws a water-filled crystal [flask]. 'Within this vial, the tremulous waters of Prexus are contained. The vial may be small, but the strength within is boundless. One drop alone can embody the power of the sea.''

You say, 'What's this flask?'

General Serobi says 'A gift bestowed upon me by Prexus himself. While he cannot [enter] the domain of Oseka, his power could, if contained. The Fury of the Tides, when unleashed near the heart of Rubak, may cause enough of a disruption for you to find the source of Oseka's power and use it against the false god.'

You say, 'Let's enter...'

General Serobi hands you the crystal flask with great care. 'You hold the power of Prexus in your hands. When you are ready to [depart], I will lead you to the heart of Rubak.'

You receive a "Fury of the Tides".

You say, 'Depart!'

General Serobi says 'Safe travels, _____.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Rubak Oseka, Temple of the Sea.

Activating the Event

When ready for a fight, whoever has the "Fury of the Tides" needs to right-click it. This instantly causes all six High Priests to activate:

A drop of water spills from the vial, causing a tremulous wave of disruption.

NOTE: The High Priest standing at /loc -35, -25, 80 will always be the first to turn into "High Priest Xalziks".

Mechanics

About a minute after the event activates, "High Priest Xalziks" will turn into "High Priest of Oseka" and, consequently, one of the "High Priest of Oseka" will turn into "High Priest Xalziks". When this happens, there is no change in health.

If you kill "High Priest Xalziks" while other "High Priest of Oseka" are still alive, one of the remaining mobs will turn into "High Priest Xalziks".

NOTE: In the group mission of the same name, as long as your DPS is focused on "High Priest Xalziks", the whirlpools don't spawn. It's unconfirmed whether this is also the case in the raid.

The High Priests

Each High Priest has approximately 30 million to 35 million hitpoints.

"High Priest of Oseka" hits for a max ~16,000 and flurries (no rampage). It's immune to stun, mez, and snare. It casts "Up From the Depths":

Up From the Depths: PB AE 60', Magic (-920)
1: Knockback (6) and Toss Up (3)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 36200
3: Stun (2.00 sec)

If its target is outside 50 range of it, it procs "Sea Spray" on that target:

Sea Spray: Single Target, Magic (-920)
1: Decrease Movement by 70%
2: Stun (3.00 sec)

If it gets within a certain range (100?) of another High Priest, they start proccing "Pure Waters" on each other:

Pure Waters: Single Target
1: Increase Hitpoints by 6000000

High Priest Xalziks hits for a max ~23,000 and flurries (no rampage). Xalziks has all of the above abilities and also casts "Riptide":

Riptide: PB AE 50', Magic (-920)
1: 100% Chance to trigger: Tide Pull
2: Unknown #343
3: Decrease Hitpoints by 19050

"Riptide" triggers "Tide Pull" which is a one-tick pull-spell (will pull you towards the mob).

Dispells

Occasionally, you'll see the following emote:

High Priest Xalziks begins to purify aleself.

This may be an indication that Xalziks is about to strip itself of debuffs. This is not confirmed, nor is it known for certain what the emote may otherwise indicate.

The Zealots

Beginning about 40 seconds after the event trigger and through the entire duration of the event, non-aggro Hadal zealots will spawn and wander towards the water. These need to be killed before they reach the water, otherwise they turn into an add.

Zealots spawn one at a time (about every 45 seconds) and can appear in any of the bottom three alcoves.

A single DPS group should be enough to keep the zealots contained. If a zealot reaches the water, you see:

A zealot has made the ultimate sacrifice, allowing another High Priest to appear.

...and an additional "High Priest of Oseka" spawns (complete with all the abilities listed above).

In addition to the appearance of the additional High Priest, this also spawns two adds in the water: 1x "a water spirit" and 1x "a drowned believer". The drowned believer has a standard aggro range (avoidable if you stay away from them). These hit for a max ~18,000.

The Devout Templars

Beginning about one minute after the event trigger and through the entire duration of the event, adds called "a devout templar" spawn about once every minute. It's reported they have a single spawn point somewhere on the northeastern side of the pearl, but this is not confirmed.

Templars tend to aggro random people upon first spawning, move fast, and sometimes warp around. They need to be quickly brought under control.

They hit for a max ~17,500. They are mezzable, but not stunnable or snareable. If their target is outside 50 range of them, they proc the spell "Sea Spray" on that target:

Sea Spray: Single Target, Magic (-920)
1: Decrease Movement by 70%
2: Stun (3.00 sec)

The devout templars drop an item called "Ancient Pearlescent Talisman" for use at the end of the event.

The Serpents

If anyone gets too close to the water, they trigger an add called "a serpent". These are immune to mez, stun, and snare. They hit for a max ~21,500.

The Whirlpools

Over the course of the event, random people will receive an emote:

Target Sees: A whirlpool begins to form around you.

Everyone Else in Raid Sees: Swirls of violent water and wind begin to form around _____.

This emote is a 9-second warning that a whirlpool is about to spawn on you. The whirlpool (non-combative) has a damage aura in its center and has an AE for anyone who gets within 40 range of it:

Whirlpool: PB AE 40', Magic (-850)
1: Pull target towards caster (-75)
2: Decrease HP when cast by 16300
3: Decrease Movement by 50%
4: Decrease Attack Speed by 50%

Completing the Event

Once you have only one High Priest left (it will be "High Priest Xalziks" by default) and you have enough people who have looted talismans from templars, coordinate your clicks so that they all happen at the same time. For each click, you'll see:

A portion of Oseka's power returns to the pearl.

Upon the last necessary click, you'll see:

The tides calm as Oseka's spirit becomes bound to the body of High Priest Xalziks.

And then you'll see...

Confined to the body of High Priest Xalziks, Oseka calls for the help of alir devoted.

...And several zealots spawn and begin walking towards the water. 3-4 zealots spawn in each of the three bottom alcoves. Additional zealots may come from higher up the ramp. They all must be killed before they reach the water.

Note: While this is going on, High Priest Xalziks is still active; whirlpools continue to spawn; and templars continue appearing.

Once the zealots are all dead, you've won the event. The remainder of the event is non-combat:

High Priest Xalziks gurgles while struggling to form cryptic words, 'Your so-called Gods are weak; pathetic. Fear is easily trumped, as you proved by defeating one of your own lesser Gods. I suppose I should thank you for your unintentional gift.'

High Priest Xalziks trembles as the remnants of life fade from its body, but the voice of Oseka continues, 'Do not think that you have seen the last of me. I may not be able to possess another mortal body, but I will assume my rightful place amongst my followers. This land will be reclaimed from the lesser gods, one way or another. I will not spend eternity confined in the depths of Rubak!' As Oseka's final words echo throughout Rubak, a brilliant light escapes the limp body of High Priest Xalziks and travels toward the pearl.

An "Essence of Oseka" appears and disappears into the pearl. A chest spawns there with loot.

With advanced loot, the 9x Ancient Pearlescent Talisman clicks can be done with a single character. They're lore, but you can simply load up the personal loot section with the talismans, add the item to your hotbar where you have a key bound, and just spam that key to activate the item with one hand while looting more talismans with the other.

Something that wasn't clear to us.

After you click successfully, High Priest Xalziks cannot be killed again. He must survive until the last Zealots are dead. If he's killed and respawns, you will need to collect and click again.
