Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is the third in a series of three; a solo task that begins with Chancellor Corcelia in the Resplendent Temple, located at 1700, -15, -22 (inside the front door if coming in from Sarith).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- Completion of "The Light Within"
- Completion of "An Initiate's Task"
- 73 Skill Level in Alaran

You say, 'Hail, Chancellor Corcelia'

Without pre-requisites:

Chancellor Corcelia completely ignores your presence.

With pre-requisites:

You say, 'Hail, Chancellor Corcelia'

Chancellor Corcelia wrinkles alir nose in disgust as you step near. 'What is that foul [smell] that surrounds you?'

You say, 'Me? Smell?'

Chancellor Corcelia ignores your words as al steps closer. Without permission, the disgusted Nitore rifles through your bags, retrieving the offending items before placing them into a burlap sack. With alir hand extended far from alir body, al hands you a large pile of waste. 'Do not bring such filth before me! Did you not learn anything from our attendant? You must [dispose] of this refuse immediately!

You say, 'OK, I'll dispose of it...'

Chancellor Corcelia waves a hand at you dismissively, 'Return to Surmo at once and get rid of this waste.'

You have been assigned the task 'At Your Disposal'.

At Chancellor Corcelia's request, deliver the large sack of waste to Surmo so that he can dispose of it.

Give the Large Sack of Waste to Surmo 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

On hand-in:

Surmo looks at the size of the chute and then glances back at the sack of waste with a sigh, 'This bag is much too big. It will never fit!' With as much effort as he can muster, the halfling attempts to stuff the sack into the chute. Clearly not fitting, Surmo uses the weight of his body to shove the bag in, but when it finally budges, the clumsy halfling goes tumbling after!

Find out what happened to Surmo 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

Task Window Says: Surmo seems to have slipped down the trash chute.

Follow Surmo down the chute, clear the mobs in the area. You'll see large cauldrons and a scene that will leave Halflings of all types cringing. As you approach the dead Halflings, 2x "a Nitore butcher" spawn (hit for a max ~12,000; stunnable but not mezzable).

NOTE: These butchers will despawn if you leave them idle for more than 60 seconds, but are reportedly re-triggerable.

Kill the Nitore butchers 0/2 (Resplendent Temple)

Task Window Says: You've been ambushed by Nitore butchers who appear to have harmed Surmo.

Report your findings to Chancellor Corcelia 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

You say, 'Hail, Chancellor Corcelia'

Chancellor Corcelia glowers at you, clearly seething from your accusations, 'How dare you speak out against the Nitore! We welcomed you into our home, and this is how you repay us, by attempting to tarnish our good name? We are the chosen! The purest beings you will ever encounter. Guards! Remove this traitor from my sight!'

Find a way out of the cell 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

You'll be ported to a jail cell, after which you'll see:

a melodic voice flows into your ears from an unknown direction, 'Well isn't this a pity. How is it that someone like you ends up in the bowels of such a duplicitous temple? It appears as though you could use a little [help].'

Stand in the middle of the cell, visible, and with no target, and say "help" and "seek":

You say, 'I need help!'

a melodic voice drifts through the air, 'I would love to help, really I would. But you see, I could use a little help myself. It's a bit lonely beneath the temple. No one visits, no one prays. I've been discarded, tossed aside. If I show you an exit, will you [seek] me out and complete one small and simple task?'

You say, 'I'll seek you out'

a melodic voice speaks only to you, 'Find me nestled beneath the temple amongst the st aming heaps of profuse filth.'

Your task 'At Your Disposal' has been updated.

Find the origin of the melodic voice 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

Task Window Says: The voice that whispered to you said it could be found beneath the temple, in a place known as the in-between.

The origin is "a decayed sentry stone" in the far northeastern part of the "In Between".

You say, 'Hail, a decayed sentry stone'

a decayed sentry stone is surrounded by a putrid aura which strengthens as you approach, 'It pleases me to see you've found your way here, to the true heart of the temple where imperfections are embraced. The Nitore are obsessed with their plight for purity, casting their unwanted waste into the bowels below, but they are limited in what they can attain. Perfection has its peak, you realize. Filth on the other hand, festers and swells, multiplying in both power and reach.' The decayed sentry stone pulses as the melodic voice continues, 'I assume your presence indicates that you are [ready] to complete your end of the bargain?'

You say, 'I'm ready'

a decayed sentry stone speaks in a voice only you can hear, 'There was a time when living amongst the grime was enough to satiate my hunger, warm waves of decay washing over my surroundings. Lately it's simply not enough. The beasts that roam these pits I call home are brimming with disease, their insides spoiled. I desire the blackened hearts of these pig-people. Fret not, no one will miss them, and their deaths will bring me much joy.'

Kill swinetor and retrieve their filthy hearts 0/4 (Resplendent Temple)

This updates randomly as you kill "swinetor" mobs (not an actual drop). Emote upon success:

You rip a blackened heart from the chest of a swinetor corpse.

Return to the decayed sentry stone 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

You say, 'Hail, a decayed sentry stone'

a decayed sentry stone calls to you without using spoken words, 'You've done what I've asked; you've brought me the sickly hearts of many swinetor, but I fear the hunger has not been subdued. It gnaws at my essence, refusing to be ignored. I am but a prisoner to my desires. Please, I implore you; assist me with one last request. There is a Nitore found on the highest floor of the temple who has managed to escape corruption. Bring to alir untainted heart and I shall reward you with treasures beyond your wildest dreams.'

Seek out a pure soul 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

Task Window Says: The voice coming from the decayed stone has pleaded with you to recover a pure heart from the uncorrupted Nitore who dwells on the top floor of the temple.

Find Reklor Irespine all the way at the top of the temple, at about 1800, -100, 436 (travel up the middle parts of the temple).

You say, 'Hail, Reklor Irespine'

Reklor Irespine appears rather annoyed at your presence, 'Can you not see I am busy with my [research]? What is it that you [want]?'

You say, 'I want information!'

Reklor Irespine eyes you cautiously before speaking, 'An air of disease surrounds you, outsider. I hope you have not given in to the corruption that lives within this temple, like so many others. I have [knowledge] to share with those who will listen, but anything else you may want from me will not be taken without a [fight].'

You say, 'What about your research and knowledge?'

Reklor Irespine looks you over with cautious eyes before responding, 'I've been investigating the curious dichotomy of the sentry stones found within the temple. The Nitore reveal in beauty, praying to their immaculate sentry stones, and the pig-people below worship their ruined remains. Both relics appear to be cut from the same stone, yet the two represent two very different ideals. Have you ever heard these stones speak?'

You say, 'Yes, I've heard them speak'

Reklor Irespine nods with enthusiasm, 'And doesn't their voice sometimes sound strikingly similar? It is my belief these stones are one in the same; two sides of a very twisted being. I am glad I have found a confidant in you, _____. Hopefully we can work together to get to the bottom of this mystery.'

You have uncovered the horrible connection between the temple and the in-between below.

Note that if you say "fight" to Reklor Irespine, he attacks (hits for a max ~65,000).

I popped the butchers but had to fade them off as I wasn't ready to handle both. They despawned. Walked through the area again and they popped back and left of the walk in area. I was able to mollify and single pull. The second one despawned, so I walked back through the area and both repopped in same spot. I mollified and single pulled again. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

The butchers are not mezzable and despawn within about 60 seconds of losing aggro. They don't appear to be retriggerable (short of restarting the task).

Find Reklor Irespine all the way at the top of the temple, at about 1800, -100, 436 (travel up the middle parts of the temple).

Start by moving to the room Surmo is in; there are ramps leading upwards. By following the ramps up (watch out for SI's) you can get to the right level.

Note, I wouldn't recommend following Reklor's dialogue "anything else you may want from me will not be taken without a [fight]." or your response will be something close to:

Reklor Irespine crushes YOU for 60154 points of damage.

You need the Large Sack of Waste before getting this task as noted by saying 'smell' to Chancellor Corcelia first, he will not give it to you when getting the task added to your Quest Window nor if you say 'smell' after getting the task.

Give the Large Sack of Waste to Surmo 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

From Chancellor Corcelia in the front section of the temple, you go northward through the corridors and main hallway until you get to the double-spiraled staircase where you will see Surmo (2536, 17, -21) looking at a closed waste chute.

Find out what happened to Surmo 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

It is best if you are invisible before jumping into the waste chute he went down OR going through a door on the main floor just to the right of that waste chute. The mobs noted on this path through the door were:
  • a Nitore idealist [scowls]
  • a Nitore purger [scowls]
  • a Nitore sorcerer [scowls]
Either way, you will enter the northern side of a large circular area with a hole in the center that leads to the dungeons below the temple. Three jail cells line the west and east sides of this area respectively, some with prisoners and essences. The south side opens up to a square area with 2 cells each east and west, then finally to a rectangular part of the room. Three corpses litter the center of the rectangular area. None of the corpses are targetable.

The five main mobs here are:
  • a Nitrole cleanser [scowls]
  • a prisoner [indifferent]
  • a purified essence [indifferent]
  • a soiled essence [scowls]
  • Afton the Cleanser [scowls] Sees invisible, Named, roams west side of this area
Two other mobs in the rectagular area western side were these but possibly may rotate through various other ones:
  • a Nitore sorcerer [scowls]
  • a Nitore prober [scowls] Sees invisible, no mez, stunnable
When you kill the Nitore mobs listed above, their main faction is Order of Radiance. I even took a character who has never played in the temple and they scowl at him, while the main floor mobs are indifferent. The faction hits for the Nitore listed above:
  • Your faction standing with Order of Radiance could not possibly get any worse.
  • Your faction standing with Seekers of Splendor got worse.
  • Your faction standing with Devotees of Decay could not possibly get any better.
Since Afton the Cleanser only roams to the center of the rectangular area and the western side of the circular area, it's safer to clear the east side of mobs and the east circular area cells themselves. If you have more than one person doing this quest, move together as a group along the east wall with one member a few steps ahead (preferably a tank but must have the task). When he gets in the square area and near the cell with a corpse, he'll trigger the butchers and with everyone nearby, they'll all get the update.

Find the origin of the melodic voice 0/1 (Resplendent Temple)

Since you are free of the jail cell, be invisible and jump into the center opening in the area you are in. You will be on a platform in the center dungeon. Your main concern are the undead that roam below the platform throughout the dungeons. Exit the platform on the north side to be in the dungeon proper. Head through the north path leading from this dungeon and follow it to a decayed sentry stone at 2998, -463, -313

Kill swinetor and retrieve their filthy hearts 0/4 (Resplendent Temple)
  • Your faction standing with Devotees of Decay could not possibly get any worse.
  • Your faction standing with the Seekers of Splendor got better.
Killing Nitores says Devotees of Decay faction could not possibly get any better, yet here says could not possibly get any worse. This means the Swinetor faction is stuck at the lowest setting and it's the best you can get with it, nothing will improve it.
