Veil of Alaris Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This group mission begins with Aedros in the Valley of Lunanyn (central part of the zone's lower half).

Pre-requisites for requesting the task:
- Completion of "Raid and Recover"
- Completion of "The Assassination Game"
- Completion of "Uncharted Territory"
- Completion of "The Enemy of My Enemy"
- Completion of "The Memory Remains"
- Minimum Skill Level in Alaran Language: 10

You say, 'Hail, Aedros'

Aedros says, in Alaran, 'It is time to [make our move] on The Daevin and destroy him. ??????? you were unable to [convince] Taleg of The Daevan's devious deeds, I am certain that foul creature is to blame for the destructions of our village. We have too much to worry about on the battlefield without him spreading his chaos. This won't be easy though I'm afraid. He will be ready and waiting for now this time.'

You say, 'We're ready to make our move'

Aedros says, in Alaran, 'Prepare for battle and inform me when you are [ready] to strike!'

You have been assigned the task 'Into the Abyss'.

It is time to take our The Daevan once and for all. Aedros has sent you back into the caverns known as The Abyss. The Daevan has set up some portals so that you cannot easily reach him. Perhaps you can find a way around them.

Speak with Dory, one of The Daevan's minions.

You say, 'Ready!'

Aedros says, in Alaran, 'May The Daevan meet death by your hands!'

Speak with Dory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

All trash mobs in this zone hit for a max ~10,000; are stunnable; and see invisibility. All mobs are immune to mez, but can be split from each other with careful pulling.

Make your way through the tunnels until you come across Dory.

You say, 'Hail, Dory'

Dory says 'You poor thing. The Daevan has trapped you here. All of these portals lead to the beginning of the caverns. There's no way you're gonna reach The Daevan to kill him. . . Unless you [help] me!'

You say, 'How can I help?'

Dory says 'I am no fan of The Daevan. He has been nothing but cruel to my brothers and I. What The Daevan doesn't know, is that my brothers and I have found his devices that can control these portals. You do what I [need], and I can help you get to The Daevan so you kill him. Unless that is, you are having second thoughts and want to [leave].'

You say, 'What do you need?'

Dory says 'Don't worry, it's nothing too difficult for a group of seasoned adventurers like yourselves. I just want you to take out some bullies that have been making life hard for my brothers and I. First up, I want you to kill Fizzlefingers. He is a reega that loves to brown-nose The Daevan. He thinks he's a powerful wizard, but he is a fraud. [Agree] to kill him, and my brothers and I will help you get through the tunnels.'

You say, 'I agree; we'll kill him'

Dory says 'I knew you would help me! You don't have much choice in the matter anyway!'

Dory removes the portal blocking your way.

Speak with Fizzlefingers 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

You say, 'Hail, Fizzlefingers'

Fizzlefingers says 'So that crybaby, Dory sent you to try to kill me? Dory and his brothers are a bunch of cowards! It matters not, for now you die! Feel the wrath of my powerful magic spells!'

Fizzlefingers attacks. He hits for a max ~10,000 and casts the spell "Fingers of Flame" (or at least he attempts to; he fizzles a lot).

Destroy Fizzlefingers 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

The portal blocking your way to the next section has been removed!

Speak with Pory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Task Window Says: Killing Fizzlefingers has removed another portal that was blocking your progress. You are to speak with Pory, Dory's brother, next.

You say, 'Hail, Pory'

Pory says 'So I heard my brother, Dory had you kill Fizzlefingers. Nice job. If you want to continue on to face The Daevan, you will also have to do something for me. Gigglen and his oashim pet, Fuzzles are a pain in the neck. Gigglen takes that nasty oashim everywhere, and frankly it creeps me out. I hate oashim! I have tried asking Gigglen to keep Fuzzles away from me, but does he listen? No! Oh, and once you kill Gigglen, bring me his head. I shall keep it as a trophy.'

Pory removes the portal blocking your way!

Kill Gigglen 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Kill Gigglen's pet oashim, Fuzzles 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Task Window Says: Pory has asked you to defeat Gigglen and his pet oashim, Fuzzles. After you kill him, loot his head.

Gigglen hits for a max ~10,000. Fuzzles, a bit less. If you kill Fuzzles before Gigglen, Gigglen grows enraged...

Gigglen is furious over the death of Fuzzles!

...And grows stronger.

Give Gigglen's Head to Pory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Pory says 'Nice work there. I will remove the portal blocking your way.'

Speak with Mory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Task Window Says: Pory has removed another portal that was blocking your progress. You are to speak with Mory, Pory's brother, next.

You say, 'Hail, Mory'

Mory says 'So you're the group my brother has told me about. Nice job down here. You aren't finished yet though! There are a couple of shape shifters I want you to deal with. Their names are Xevo, and Ovex. They found some magic charms that let them shape shift, and now they delight in changing into rocks and spying on me. Well I am sick of it. Kill them and return their magic charms to me.'

Speak with Xevo 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Task Window Says: Speak with one of the shape shifting twins named Xevo.

You say, 'Hail, Xevo'

Xevo says 'You dare confront Xevo and Ovex, the master shape shifters? We shall show you a thing or two before you die!'

Xevo says 'Now you shall witness true magic! Shape shift grendlaen form!'

Ovex says 'A grendlaen? I can do better than that! Shape shift dragon form!'

Ovex says 'Dangit! Well I sure messed up that spell.'

Xevo says 'Just kill them!'

Ovex says 'Darn, that's no good either!'

Ovex says 'Finally! Now you're in trouble.'

Defeat Xevo 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Defeat Ovex 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Ovex, in his dragon form, AEs the spell "Fiery Breath" (about a 35k nuke unmitigated).

Deliver Xevo's Charm to Mory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Deliver Ovex's Charm to Mory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Loot the charms from their corpses and bring them to Mory.

Speak with Mory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

You say, 'Hail, Mory'

Mory says 'Thanks for taking those fools out. It looks like all that's left is for you to get rid of The Daevan. It won't be easy. He's sure to have some more tricks up his sleeve. I will remove the portal blocking you way. Good luck!'

Speak with The Daevan 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Task Window Says: Mory has removed another portal, allowing you entrance to The Daevan's lair. Find The Daevan and speak with him.

You say, 'Hail, The Daevan'

The Daevan says 'So some of my less than faithful minions helped you enter my chambers? I shall deal with them later. I shall end your pathetic lives now!'

Several portals spawn around The Daevan. If you step into them, you'll be ported to a different part of the tunnel system.

Note: The Daevan isn't leashed to his room, so you can pull him out.

Defeat The Daevan 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

The Daevan hits for a max ~10,000 and casts an AE fear. He otherwise has an average amount of hitpoints and is no more difficult than zone trash.

The Daevan has been slain by _____!
The Daevan's corpse says 'Death cannot touch me! This is but a mere inconvenience.'

Speak with Dory 0/1 (Valley of Lunanyn)

Dory respawns nearby.

You say, 'Hail, Dory'

Dory says 'I can't believe you defeated the Daevan! It's a good thing you did, because he was gonna flay the flesh off my brother and I's bones. Make sure to take your reward from this chest and when you are ready to leave, just let me [know]. If you are ever in the neighborhood again, stop by and say hello!'

I am not if anyone listed below. In this mission, if you kill "Ovex" after he trasnforms into a mini dragon form., you get Game Hunter achievement.

Just finished this with a 92/2000 Wizard (me), 95/?? Cleric (raid geared) + J5 tank merc, 91/?? BST (boxed by cleric), 87/1000 Wizard, and a 91/1000 Mage. Took us around 3 1/2 hours.

Our group was able to handle two mobs at once. I would think if your group cannot, you really ought to bring a bard. FD is going to be slow, and our method - me pulling, with Mage CoH'ing me to clear aggro - was even slower. If we had to single-pull every mob it would have taken us at least another hour. The vast majority of our time was spent splitting the groups of threes. CoH pulling in tight spaces with no snare or root is a matter of perfect timing and we were a bit off.

I did not see any issues with pathing as yizudien mentioned, so I'm thinking that's something specific to FD. Besides the fact these mobs can't be snared or rooted, they are quite quick and their aggro radius is huge. They are all stunable as noted, and are level 90 or lower.

We didn't bother splitting any of the named and had no issues with any of the fights.

Overall I thought the mission was too long, but while it was a challenge it was a fair one. You do need the right group makeup though.

mobs are NOT mezzable as you will be required to off-tank the reega's early on. makes it worthless to bring an Enchanter or Bard as they just stand there lightly nuking so not to get aggro.

for this all you need is a tank, cleric, caster and three of the same merc's and it's cake.

sk, druid, wizzy, rogue merc, wizzy merc, healer merc
Not bad at all.

Just did it with 92 warrior, 95 bard, 95 shaman, 95 magician, 95 tank merc, and 95 healer merc. Np at all. Double pulls were easily tanked by merc and offtanked with warrior. Triples are easily split with patience.

Stun is the key to pulling trash in this zone.

Anyone with stun and an aggro drop can pull all the trash in this zone, with extreme ease, single. Every last one of the trash int his instance is tunnable. Making this entire thing a bit of a joke.

Also, if you use an eye and scan ahead you can find safe places to run through to and drop aggro that allow skipping of most of the trash. Of course those who can't take a little dmg or aggro drop need not attempt while alive.

I just 4 boxed this. Took me 3 hours. 95 SHD, 95 CLR, 95 ENC, 95 WIZ, CLR Merc, and Caster Merc.

I followed yizduien post.

ShadowKnight died a few times. Lost about 2% regular experience. Nothing can be snared, nothing can be pacified, and nothing can be mezzed.

I did not bother trying to split Gigglen and Fuzzles. I just harm touched Gidden and burned him down with the wizard and caster merc.

I did split Ovex and Xevo.

Daevan did not cast anything that I saw. But he did go down fast.

Trash was definitely tougher than the named like Philaviax stated.

Hello,

Reiterating what has been posted before you need 2-3 hours your first time through (maybe more) just to learn the all of the issues with this instance.

As stated none of the standard pull tactics work (including 91 rk II Monk lull says the target is not affected).

92 monk 93 shaman enchanter (93 merc tank and two cleric mercs).

Save you some time and wipes.

Realize that you will be pulling from the room you enter all the way to the last room north on the map. Once you get your first couple hallways cleared, that will give you a decent idea of the time required. The final mob IS NOT in the room he spawns in outside of the instance. They moved him to the last room at the top right side of the map. Do not waste your time pulling out the daevan's room if you have the map from mapfiend.

The first room you start is a good camp place to begin with , just do not fd pull outside the hall. This is true for all rooms with small hallways leading to the larger passage way: If a mob is pulled and you fd with it in front of the hallway to a smaller room, it will take that smaller hallway do a complete lap around the room then continue down the larger passage way back to where it originally spawned. This happend 100 % of the time, and can be used to help, as a monk with imitate death, split these guys. There are a ton of easter eggs when pulling here that you just have to learn, things like guys going through portals and bringing 10 friends, randomly the fd split will cause the mobs involved to find new homes (Typically in a wall), mobs will run away while aggroed then reappear right on top of you (Fun when you have three), and the wood timbers used to support the tunnel (part of the environment) will cause issues with Line of sight- if you group shrink you better cast levitate on the puller. Oh and when you hail dory there are two guys out side of his room keep the group in the safe room have the puller hail him or they will agro to anyone in the room when you try and FD Split it.

Mobs have a large agro range, works best to have the group around a corner not at all in sight of the mob or they will agro.

Boss mobs are, as stated earlier, easier than any of the trash often hitting for 10k less often. Also for the guy with the 35k AOE, he never made it into his dragon form when I ran this. He changed a couple times and I dont recall ever seeing a 35k AOE (This was an easy split the dog looking guy will come first, AOE Guy second). After your hail start running they will have a dialogue then come after you, gives the puller a good shot at getting into a hallway where splitting is easy

For Gigglen with the dog, He will respawn every time you kill him till the dog dies. I pulled him to the group at 10 % i went and pulled the dog out as well. Both died well outside the room and didnt respawn (or the guy disspawned when I killed the dog). Either way you only need to kill the guy once and the dog once then you can move on and they are in a room completely out of the way of the rest of the mission.

Final mob is a push over, other than his fear. I dont know if it is an aoe fear because my monk never got feared, instead the 93 Merc tank was feared about every 15 seconds. Wasnt too bad cause he ran between two spots while the dots and nukes from enchanter and shaman took him down (they were never fear either).

Have a puller unless your group can handle two 10k hitters. Some areas have 3 trash mobs that will aggro, be warned.

All Trash mobs were immune to root and snare. Spiritwalker also mentions above trash not being mezzable.

Gigglen continued to instantly respawn if he was pulled away from his room and killed. This was tried along several hallways of varying distances away including the one right next to his room. I could not get Fuzzles away from Gigglen to see if the same applied. Had to kill Gigglen in room with Fuzzles. I was able to pull Gigllen out, get him nearly dead, then bring him into the room and engage Fuzzles so I didn't have to fight both at the same time.

Task locks upon turning the two amulets from Xevo and Ovex.

I could split Xevo from Ovex, did not respawn on death outside of his room.

Trash seemed tougher than any of the named.

Will try pacify on next run.

Give yourself a couple hours for this task. As a monk I was able to split most of the trash and I was able to split Gigglen and Fuzzles , and Ovex and Xevo so nothing too difficult just lots of trash to kill. Also, Daevan is a pushover on a burn. Never feared us at all.
