This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion, expected to be available only for a certain period of time ahead of VOA's launch. It begins with a gnome named Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle in the Steamfont Mountains. She's found in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains (location -1415, -1475, 5 -- in the back area of the work site). You say, 'Hail, Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle' Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle says 'Hello there. I am Chief Smelter Whistle. Basically that means that, for this project at least, I am responsible for all metal work. That turns out to be a rather complicated task, for which I need a lot of [help].' You say, 'Help?' Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle says 'We have a lot of workers and engineers on the project, but there is a lot to do. There is a lot more metal in a dirigible than most folks know. And it has to be special metal in most cases. We need agents to find what we need. If you aren't here just to site see, then you might be interested in doing a few [tasks] for me.' You say, 'What tasks?' Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle says 'We have a lot that needs doing.' A task window pops up with two tasks to choose from. You have been assigned the task 'Steam Engine - Fuel'. To run an engine of the size needed for the project, the engineers expect to need a lot of fuel. They thought it would be best to just go and find the largest volume of fuel possible. The giants of Valdeholm use a lot of coal for their forges. Convince their smiths to give you some, even if you have to do your convincing with a sword. Collect a giant-sized box of coal from the smiths of Valdeholm 0/1 (Valdeholm) Kill mobs called "a smith" or "a weaponsmith" in the very northwestern part of Valdeholm. This step will update randomly as you kill. Upon successful update, you'll see: a smith drops a Giant Box of Forge Coal, which you manage to pick up with great effort. Speak with any smelting engineer 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains) You say, 'Hail, Chief Smelting Engineer Whistle' The smelting engineer, though unable to lift the box of coal, thanked you for bringing it. Location is correct, but I got a message saying something like 'this smith has no coal' for 'a smith' and 'a weaponsmith' before task completion.

Kill weaponsmith, very north west of zone by Master Smith to get update for giant-sized box of coal. No loot to collect, updates as you kill.
Then hail any smelting engineer to finish.
