This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion and is expected to be available throughout the pre-launch events leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion (through November 14).

It begins with a gnome named Watchman Beld in the Steamfont Mountains. He's found at location -1225, -1275 in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains.

You say, 'Hail, Watchman Beld'

Watchman Beld says 'Well, hello there youngster! Welcome to our worksite. These fine gnomes are working diligently day and night to complete this [project]. It is my [duty] to protect this place, and I shall use all of my resources to do so.'

You say, 'What project?'

Watchman Beld says 'Ah, the project. Well, it is very important. Brell himself sent us an emissary to explain the project to our experts. It is very important. Very important... but I, well, I can't explain it to you very well. I've spoken to the experts and I just didn't understand what they told me. I'm sure one of the engineers can tell you about it. I'm just here to protect the site.'

You say, 'What duty?'

Watchman Beld says 'My duty is to guard the site. That's not an easy task, you know. With all these monsters wandering through here the workers are pretty nervous. One gnome can't watch everything. I wonder... Perhaps you could lend an old watchman a hand? Would you be willing to [assist] me in keeping the beasts out of the works?'

You say, 'I'll assist you'

Watchman Beld says 'Well, that's kind of you.'

A quest window pops up offering two different tasks.

You have been assigned the task 'Furry Foes'.

Watchman Beld has asked you to help him keep the kobolds from the work area. Any that wander into the area needs to be destroyed. Beld isn't concerned with those elsewhere in the Steamfont Mountains.



Kill 4 kobolds 0/4 (Steamfont Mountains)

Any Steamfont kobolds will do, however you have to kill them within a certain range of the work site (you can kill at least as far away as the dragon bones). You can kite mobs and kill them within this range to get the updates.

Speak with Beld 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

You say, 'Hail, Watchman Beld'

Watchman Beld was grateful for your assistance. Beld admitted to being a little allergic to kobold fur and doesn't like having to kill them.

The kobolds can actually be killed where they stand in the kobold camp nearest the Dragon bones. But not all kobolds will give an update. Not sure why though. some a little father away in the camp actually updated and some closer ones did not. but most do

They've gotta be in range of the construction site. some of the kobolds are probably just outta that range in that camp. I charm the little guys and pull em towards that tree the one kobold pops at and i get an update everytime.

They can be killed at the near kobold camp too... so maybe the range is a bit larger than the work area.

Can take any kobolds in the zone and drag them to near the work area (I drag them to around the start of the hill leading towards the pit with the engineers/workers/heavy lifting devices) and if you kill them right around there you get an update for each kill.

I do this with the kobolds at the near camp and they always give updates (not sure on the shaman ones, though)...I also do it with the kobolds at camps farther out, just gotta make sure that you don't move too far ahead of them too fast so their pathing gets screwed up and/or they get too far away and lose agro.
