For an overview of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events, see this quest entry.

This is a pre-launch task leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion and is expected to be available throughout the pre-launch events leading up to the Veil of Alaris expansion (through November 14).

It begins with a gnome named Chief Foreman Salli in the Steamfont Mountains. She's found at location -1200, -1275 in the far southeastern part of the Steamfont Mountains.

You say, 'Hail, Chief Foreman Salli'

Chief Foreman Salli says 'Hello there. Nice to meet you. Unless we've already met. Then it's nice to see you again. Either way, it's nice. I've been so busy that I can't always remember who works for me anymore. It's my job to make sure all of the tasks get done and that everyone has what they need. Luckily I have a lot of [help], or I'd never be able to keep up.'

You say, 'How can I help?'

Chief Foreman Salli says 'I have a couple of foremen working on specific projects. That's wonderful. It means that I don't have to worry at all about that stuff. Not that there isn't enough to do. We can always use more capable hands. I don't suppose you could find some time to [lend a hand]?'

You say, 'I'll lend a hand'

Chief Foreman Salli says 'It is very kind of you to offer!'

A quest window pops up offering three different tasks.

You have been assigned the task 'Oil for the Machine'.

has asked you to find oil for general use on all the machines used on the project. It isn't a complicated task, she insists. Just go to Meldrath's fortress in the sky and gather the oil. Easy!

Pour oil from the Oil Cans found in Mechanotus or Steam Factory into oil barrels 0/4 (Steamfont Mountains)

Any oil works, it appears (from the Fortress Mechanotus):
- Can of Dirty Oil
- Can of Warm Oil
- Can of Unrefined Oil
- Oil Cans from Dragonscale nameds
- Oil Cans from Fortress Mechanotus and the Steam Factory

Click on an oil barrel (found by the work site) to pour the oil.

NOTE: The Warm, Dirty, and Unrefined Oil cans do NOT get consumed upon doing a click. The regular "Oil Can" items, however, DO disappear (even if you have the other types in your inventory).

When you pour in a can of oil into the barrel, you'll see:

Your task 'Oil for the Machine' has been updated.
You pour the oil into the huge oil barrel. Not very much of it spills onto you.

Let any foreman on the project know how much oil you have added to the barrel 0/1 (Steamfont Mountains)

You say, 'Hail, Chief Foreman Salli'

The foreman nodded when you explained that you had added the oil to the barrel.
Chief Foreman Salli says 'Right, right. I'll add it to the tally. Thanks.'

As of the 10/12 patch, there is no place to dump the oil. I guess they will patch the patch soon. The dock we helped them build disappeared as well. LOL

Task Description

When you pour in a can of oil into the barrel it will give the following:

Your task 'Oil for the Machine' has been updated.
You pour the oil into the huge oil barrel. Not very much of it spills onto you.

I hailed Chief Foreman Salli to finish the task.

Closing Dialogue

RE:

"Confirmation needed: Which oil cans, specifically? There are Oil Cans from Dragonscale nameds and Oil Cans randomly from Fortress Mechanotus and the Steam Factory."

I have two Can of Warm Oil and 2 Can of Dirty Oil... they all remained in my inventory... and I used the same ones the 2nd time around... and they still remain in my inventory.

Dirty Oil and Warm Oil are not part of this quest, you don't need them.

The quest is only look for Oil Can, but right now it's buggy where you don't need any oil at all.

Please note, that when when you do this...even if you have some of the other oil (Can of Warm/Dirty Oil/Unrefined Oil)...if you have some Oil Cans (random drops from mobs in Fortress Mechanotus/Steam Factory), then they will be consumed unlike the rest of them. >_<
