In 2011, this task was available from early August to the first week of September as part of Veil of Alaris pre-launch events.

It will be available in 2014 through to September 24 as part of "Stone Cold Summer" tasks and a mission.

This is a group task that begins with Helagan (click for map image) in Misty Thicket. He is located near 890, -230 (far north-central boundary of the zone, in front of a tree near Arima Fae -- due north of the northernmost curve in the path).

You must first have completed the task "Only The Blind Will See" before you can request this task. There are no pre-requisites for participating in this task.

Note that you can use Meeka Gharn in the Plane of Knowledge to port to this location (Meeka is located at the main bank).

You say, 'Hail, Helagan'

Helagan says 'Arima must have high regard for you if he thinks you can take on Ven Baga. Very well. Go to Nektulos Forest and talk to Begat Neyat. He has been keeping tabs on Ven Baga and will best know where you need to go. '

You have been assigned the task 'Baga's Stand'.

Speak to Begat Nayat 0/1 (Nektulos Forest)

Find Begat Neyat at location 950, 420, 13 in Nektulos Forest.

You say, 'Hail, Begat Neyat'

Begat Neyat says 'Well, well, well! I am told a mighty adventurer was on the way and they send me you? Pay me no mind. If Arima thinks you can help then my opinion matters little. So, Ven Baga has holed up in Shadowed Grove. He and his men have flushed out most the denizens there to make way for his camp. You should have little to deal with other than Baga and his men. But that is a task in and of itself. So, let me know when you are [ready], and I will point you in the right direction.'

Your task 'Baga's Stand' has been updated.

You say, 'Ready!'

Begat Neyat says 'Be careful! Ven Baga is not to be underestimated at any cost! Be wary of his tricks! '

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Shadowed Grove.

This zones you into an instanced zone.

Defeat Ven Baga 0/1 (Shadowed Grove)

Defeat Van Baga's last wave of enemies 0/6 (Shadowed Grove)

Trash mobs hit for a max ~7,000. They are immune to mez, but stunnable, and have a fast respawn timer (only about five minutes).

Ven Baga is located in the far east tunnel. He is no more difficult than the trash mobs in the zone, but is immune to stun.

Once you kill him, six trash mobs spawn and aggro you. Kill them to complete the task. (NOTE: If you wipe out at this step, you can come back and kill any six trash mobs in the zone for these updates.)

Ven Baga has been slain by _____!
Ven Baga's corpse's eyes stare up at you. Their look seems to ask, 'How can this be?'

Baga brute prepares to eviscerate you.
Baga assassin prepares to eviscerate you.
Baga henchman prepares to eviscerate you.

Baga brute has been slain by _____!
Baga brute's corpse crumples to the ground in a lifeless heap.

Your task 'Baga's Stand' has been updated.
Your attack on Ven Baga has succeeded. This will give Arima Fae more time to decipher the Tome of Antiquity.

for those who may find this difficult, the only problem part is pulling baga out. after that youre golden.

i boxed this with an 89 ranger and 90 bard, with tank/healer merc with little difficulty, bard being T5 group and ranger barely being T2. as noted, hes on a diff faction so just swarm them up to the entrance and have someone tag baga from the group.

quite easy once you figure it out =0) took all of 15 minutes.
ven baga

To clarify a couple points-
Ven Baga himself apparently is on a different faction, so he can be cleanly pulled solo from his spawn point back in the cave, through the 9 or so mobs standing around him.

When he dies, 6 more mob spawn in a circle around Ven Baga's spawn point. So this is why it is important to pull Ven Baga from his spawn and kill him at the cave entrance. At the cave entrance, you are out of agro range of these 6 spawns.

After Ven Baga dies, you dont need to kill the 6 mobs that spawned when he died - any normal trash mobs will count. So stay at cave entrance and kill the respawns for easy win.

Yes it is right im not making this up my bag dissapeared. Just did the baga's stand mission again and this time got a second "lore" text in the top inventory spot my bag used to be in. So maybe somethings coded wrong and my bag was eaten by the quest trying to give me a second text yesterday? I dont know but how do you explain me having two lore texts?

Is it just me, or is everyone else finding this task difficult?

Went in with 90 shm ( 90 clr merc), 90 Druid ( 90 Tank Merc ), 90 Mage ( 90 Tank merc)all mercs t5, all not boxed (just the mage). Died at zone in, and re rezzed. Started out pulling 2, then 2 more. We moved in to the right, and hit 3. Got 2 of the 3 down, and respawns added. Died, and re rezzed. Is there a trick to this mission? The druid and i are decently geared, Mage could use a few upgrades as hes not quite T4 Flagged. After attempting this mission a few times, resulting in over welming adds we decided to call it a night.

So my question is, is there a trick to this mission? Perhaps we missed something along the way. 5 min respawns are just nasty. Will repost if i sucessfully complete it.

Boxed this tonight with t4 group geared lvl90 Sham / Druid combo with t5 clr / tank mercs.

Cleared the mobs along the right wall into the east tunnel, moving as I killed. Once in the tunnel, I cleared along the left wall to Van Baga. Once again, moving as I killed. Pulled Van Baga to the spot where the previous two mobs were and killed him there. Evac'd as soon as he was dead to avoid being swarmed by his henchmen that spawn upon his death. Killed six mobs at zone in to complete task.

The mobs hit exceptionally hard for being light blue, plus they love to bs. You won't get much for experience from just killing. Agro range is fairly long, plus the mobs are linked so expect multiples if you wander too close to one. But all the normal tactics for splitting work.

The mobs aren't linked, they just have an exceptionally large assist range. I was able to pacify and pull singles with no problems.

Yes they do have huge agro radius and using any of the later lull spells or song (bard) can easily pull singles consistently every time, I know because I do it.

T4 equipped bard, T4 equipped necro + pet/s, T4 equipped mage + pet/s, 3 x T5 merc healers, completed this 3 times smoothly
bard set to puller, mage set to tank, bard debuffs with harmony of sound then slows currently tanked mob with requiem of time and sings dot songs x 4 !!
1, bard targets mob just around right hand corner using singing steel helm, used silence of the dreamer to lull
2, lulled the visible mob to the far left of that furthest from tunnel entrance
3, pulled mob between the 2 lulled mobs and killed
4, pulled mob to left visible and killed
5, targeted mob outside tunnel left side and lulled
6, pulled mob just around right corner and killed
7, lulled two mobs in tunnel then killed mob outside left of tunnel pulled to previous kill spot
8, lulled furthest visible mob in tunnel pull 1st visible mob outside tunnel to previous spawn spot then killed 2nd mob in the tunnel
9, lulled first visible mob in room right hand side pulled left hand-side mob and killed
10, pull right hand side mob and killed
11, lulled mob either side of ven baga and pulled Ven Baga and killed, got update
12, Re-spawns happening in tunnel kill each as it happens until 6 dead then get the hell out of town.

All this must be done quickly and efficiently without stopping to rest at all re-spawn rate is fast and they hit hard as previously mentioned.

Begat Nayat wasn't up, but we got yellow message stating the zone was being repopulated, suspend pets and mercs, and then a minute later he was up, looks like a male barbarian melee.

The instance respawn time is very very fast, as noted. With just two people and two mercs, group dps of about 10k, we barely kept up with respawns.

Stuff saw invis, so we cleared to tunnel entrance.

Ven Baga was single pulled by a warrior once the double spawn at tunnel entrance was cleared.

After that we just killed respawns until it finished, at which point we all suffered a hard session failure "Everquest has detected that your client may have crashed." This sometimes happens when I finish a task, but it's rare that it affects the whole group.

Reward was a book with decent stats if you like range things that don't hurl arrows. Right click on the book says you can't read this yet, better luck in the future.

No Drop on Firiona Vie, as many temporary task/items are.
