The Fifth Nybright Sister

This isn't a task. It's an old-world style quest (possibly with hidden flags) for an Armored Orcakar Figurine.
In summary: - Say "Claire" to a drunkard in Kelethin. - Say "Claire" then "Mayla" to Kayla Nybright in Lesser Faydark. - Kill the three attacking sisters. - Hail Shayla Nybright. - Say "Tandan" then "Are you Mayla?" to Claire Nybright in Sunrise Hills. In detail: There is an NPC named Claire Nybright in Sunrise Hills. She shares the same surname as a group of bandits in Lesser Faydark. Through a very old quest, you know that the father of the Nybright bandits is "a drunkard" in Kelethin whose name is Tandan Nybright. Find the drunkard at location 440, 630. You say, 'Hail, Tandan Nybright' Without faction: a drunkard says 'I may be delirious, but I can still spot an enemy of the Clerics of Tunare.' With faction: a drunkard says 'How did you know my name? You must be from Felwithe. .. Excuse my condition. I am not the man I once was. I have had a [shocking experience].' You say, 'What shocking experience?' a drunkard says 'My daughters have become bloodthirsty bandits. They went off to visit Antonica and when they returned, they became bandits. They now attack every poor traveler who happens upon them. They have disgraced the name of Nybright. Will you [hunt the Nybright Sisters] or is this not to your liking?' You say, 'Who is Claire Nybright?' a drunkard glares at you as he speaks very slowly, 'Listen -hic- here you. . . no good. . . - hic- . . . Leave me be! I have. . . -hic- . . . no idea who that may. . . may. . . -hic-. . . la. . . be. . . The only daughters -hic- I have left . . . are dead to me.' Note that in his response, through the drunken hiccups, he makes out the name "may" "la". Head to Lesser Faydark to the Nybright bandit camp and speak to Kayla Nybright. You say, 'Hail, Kayla Nybright' (no response) You say, 'Who is Claire Nybright?' Kayla Nybright grits her teeth, 'Claire? I have no idea who you are talking about. there are only four of us! Our father...' She interrupts herself to spit and curse his name, '...would have never named one of us Claire anyway!' You say, 'Who is Mayla Nybright?' Kayla Nybright says, Curse your tongue fool! Sisters, help!' Kayla, Jayla, and Tayla attack you. Kill them. The blood of a Nybright sister is now on your hands. You say, 'Hail, Shayla Nybright' (no response) NOTE: Although she gives no response, it may be necessary to hail her to progress the quest. Return to Claire Nybright in Sunrise Hills. You say, 'Who is Tandan Nybright?' Claire Nybright hangs her head down, tears welling in her eyes, 'Please, don't bring back these memories. I can't live that life anymore. I am Claire!' You say, 'Are you Mayla Nybright?' Claire Nybright quickly digs through her pockets and pulls out a small figurine. She glares at you, using all of her willpower to hold back tears, 'Take this, just please, do not speak of my sisters or father anymore. You have no idea what it was like, what happened to my... Mother...' You recieve an Armored Orcakar Figurine. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I did the 2 prior tasks np, then I did this like 10 times, because Claire would not give me the figurine. I read through a mountain of posts trying to figure out what i could be doing wrong, and got nada. Finally.....one step short of actually grinding clerics of Tunare faction,lol, I got it. I took my enchanter to Lesser Faydark, and charmed Shayla...aka sister #4, then went and did the dialogue/killing with her sisters. So only 3 sisters attacked, I killed them, hailed shayla, went back to claire and finally got the Figurine. I talked to guildies that had done this when it first came out and they said that only 3 sisters attacked. It's possible this part of the task is bugged and only 3 sisters are "supposed to" attack. At least this is an other possible option now ,for ppl that may have an issue with this.

I finally got "Armored Orcakar Figurine" on 3 chars BST/DRU/CLE after couple failures, the correct procedures are
1. Say "Claire" then "Mayla" to Kayla Nybright in Lesser Faydark.
2. 4 Nybright sisters will attack you at same time, DO NOT kill any one of them.
(One time I killed Kayla then evaced and went back to hail Shayla, the quest still failed.)
3. Clean your aggro, either run far away or Zone or Evac or FD. (Run away and Evac were verified by me)
4. Go back to Nybright camp to Hail Shayla Nybright. (It's ok if she doesn't response)
5. Go back to Sunrise Hills and say "Tandan" then "Are you Mayla?" to Claire Nybright.
6. "Armored Orcakar Figurine" will be in your inventory.
The key point is < DO NOT kill any one of Nybright sisters, clean your aggro and go back to hail Shayla >

When you say Mayla all 4 now attack, not just three.
What this means is you must find some way of saying 'mayla' to one of the sisters WITHOUT killing exactly as Rondor says. If you can fade or FD this is simply, another trick is to equip non melee weapons so that you cannot kill them with riposte and then just run away after saying 'mayla'
That's how I managed to get it done, after saying 'mayla' NO KILLEE!
Bards/Chanters note: You can use faction song on the drunkard to get a response, not sure if that makes a difference, probably not.

I didn't get the "a drunkard says 'How did you know my name? You must be from Felwithe. .. Excuse my condition. I am not the man I once was. I have had a [shocking experience].'" response from "a drunkard", however, when I asked what shocking experience he continued like normal.
Also when doing the Nybright sister's in LFay they all four attacked...after a lot of trial and error I figured out to keep from killing Shayla I needed to be ducked when I asked Kayla about Claire and Mayla. This way I didnt riposte-kill everyone. The other thing (and this is what stumped me for HOURS) is that there is a flag associated with Shayla. What I did was to ask Kayla about Claire and Mayla, then after all four sister's attacked I killed the the three who weren't Shayla. I zoned into Mistmoore to clear aggro, then went back to camp and asked Shayla about Claire, then asked her about Mayla. Shayla will then say two lines at once:
"Curse your togue fool! Sisters, help!"
"Please run. I do not wish to hurt you."
After she said that I was able to go through the sequence with Claire in Sunrise Hills and get the figurine. Which then led to gettig the trickster mask with just a hail when the figurine was equipped.

Indifferent with Clerics of Tunare is not enough, "amiably" works for some parts, but seems still not enough.
*Update* Even withwarmly ally , Tandan (aka the drunkard) still doesn't reply to the 'named hail' with the correct phrase.
Same goes for Claire ... she replies to "Tandan", but will not give out the item after naming her Mayla.
For the moment, I give up ...

ok I just got done doing this quest as part of a 3 part quest the (sisters quest) being the 3rd one in the chain.. I did this chain quest 2 times first time i did it i went in order the delivery quest first then the tax quest then the sisters and everything went fine .. 2nd time i did the quest did it on my bstlord and i did the quest backwords I did tax quset first then the sisters then finally the courier/delivery one, however when i went to hail final guy and Claire Nybright she would not give me the Oraka figurine so I had to go back and do it again and again it failed i was thinking i had screwed this thing up i could not figure out what I did wrong. so on the 3rd attempt on the sisters quest I did my dialogue with the A drunken then went to sisters camp in Lfay after hailed kayla all 4 sisters came at me I tried not to kill them but at lvl 95 my riposte killed them so i had to wait for shayla to respawn once she respawned i hailed her again and went thru dialogue "who is claire" and "who is Mayla" she attacked but this time I ran away from camp and lost agro and did not kill her .. went back to sunrise and hailed claire and said "who is Tandan Nybright" she responded this time with blah blah so i guess you know who I am .. I said " Are you Mayla" and viola she put figurine in my back I think put figurine in primary hand and went and hailed Celtreus for final reward I'll let you figure out what that is .. but it begins with visage.

Today I did this quest with 82BST, FAILED even I only killed 3 of Nybright sisters and kept Shayla alive.
I gated back to PoK after hailed Shayla, and I ran into Sunrise Hills.
When I said "Tandan", to Claire, she replied.
When I said "Are you Mayla?", she turned silent and DID NO'T give me the quest reward "Armored Orcakar Figurine"
/Bug reported.

first, it doesn't matter who you say claire and mayla to -- each sister will give the same response. kill at least one and run until you lose aggro-- then go back-- hail another sister-- say claire and mayla and then get out of there-- you will get a response if you do-- and remember not to kill anyone after speaking to the second sister.

Doing it "right", I gotten something else though, trying to follow the script:
I did not see Shayla say to me to run away or run off herself(maybe if you wait long enough?), but when I killed the other 3, I just ran away out of agro range and Shayla walked back to her spawn spot, non agro.
There I tried to hail and talk, but no response
However, when I then came to Claire back in Sunrise, and said You say, 'Who is Tandan Nybright?', her response was NOT:
"Claire Nybright hangs her head down, tears welling in her eyes, 'Please, don't bring back these memories. I can't live that life anymore. I am Claire!'"
but it was:
"Claire Nybright stares at you stone-faced, void of any emotion, 'So you spoke to them... You must know who I am now?'
the rest is the same
and if you do kill Shayla her death message is unlike the other 3:
Shayla Nybright's corpse says 'Oooh.. I am sorry we had to battle. I am not like my sisters. I only wanted to live in peace..'

ok-when my next toon did it, i accidently said who is mayla to her before saying the other-- she wouldn't respond after that, but i gated and still got my figurine.

ok-- i did it again but this time escaped before killing anyone the second time around-- shayla ran away and i let her go-- when she returned i talked to her, she attacked me and i gated-- got my figurine though.

I did this quest 4 times already and it isn't working. i followed the above instructions to the letter-- of course it probably doesn't help that all four sisters attacked me each time. for some reason, the quest isn't working for me. when i ask are you mayla nybright she doesn't respond wiht anything -- just ignores me.

It doesnt get any easier than this people! 
I had faction ranging from KOS to Indiff on the 6 toons I did this with and each time I did it this way I got the Armored Orcakar Figurine. Nevermind what the quest says you need for faction, my shaman and warrior both are KOS to the Cleric of Tunare! Faction doesnt matter if you do it this way!
I did not have to zone at anytime in Lesser Faydark except to head to Sunny Hills.
I did kill 3 of the 4 sisters.
I did get blood on my hands once.
Even if you messed this up before you can still get the figureine long as you do it this way. TRUST ME! I did it this way after messing it up with 2 toons. And at no time did I waste time doing quests to raise faction.
Target ONLY when you see "target xxxx". Hail is not needed.
1) Say ONLY what is in green
2) Do ONLY what is in red
3) Get msg in red
4) Then get your Armored Orcakar Figurine.
Then do The Shaman Shuffle for joy!
And remember YOU OWE ME ONE!
And IF for some reason you dont get the Armored Orcakar Figurine then you didnt do it this way! PERIOD!!
**There may be other ways of getting the Armored Orcakar Figurine also but I know this way works.

This is as I posted before. 4 steps to get the job done. Faction not a factory, zoning not needed less youve done what is needed in that zone and YES I got blood on my hands.
If for some strange reason this does not work for you send me a tell and I will walk you through it. Dont make me come to your server and show you this works! If I do, trust me, I will tell everyone "I TOLD YOU SO!"

It also works if you drop aggro instead of killing the 3 sisters, then hail Shayla and go back to Claire.

I believe that the root cause of trouble people have had with the quest is that if you get the message "The blood of a Nybright sister is now on your hands" , that is a *bad thing* because it removes one of the hidden flags necessary to complete the quest. To get the hidden flag back, say "Mayla" to any sister, then drop aggro or zone out before you kill any of them.
This is why the method reported by Kuzain below works. If you say "Mayla" to anyone *except* Shayla first, the 3 others will attack you, but Shayla does not attack. The first one you kill of the 3 who attack will cause the "blood" message to appear, erasing your "said Mayla to a sister" flag. Then if you say "Mayla" to Shayla, you get the flag back, but since she doesn't attack you, you get a chance to run away from the zone with your flag intact.
Note that you *must* say "Claire" to the drunkard first, otherwise the sisters will not attack you if you say "Mayla" to them.

So, the overall simple way of doing the quest is:
- Say "Claire" to "a drunkard" in Kelethin (Greater Faydark). This gives you flag #1, even if he brushes you off due to bad faction, you still get the hidden flag. No need to work on faction for the drunkard.

Here is ALL you have to do to get the Armored Orcakar Figurine in 4 easy steps and takes about 5 mins to complete.... It doesnt get any easier than this! ! ! Go to Gfay and find drunkard. He is not always at the loc listed above, he does roam down a teir but if you cant find him at loc you can wait for him to return. Use the lift where Guard Rainstrider is at. Go accross second bridge to LEFT then make your first RIGHT and go up. The drunkard is behind the merchant Tanaine but does roam a bit. If you cant find him at this location you can just wait for his return or go up the first ramp to left then second bridge on left where he will be standing beside a tree.

I have done it exactly like this six times now and it works!!! Make sure you follow this to the letter! Faction does not seem to be a factor as my shmn and war are kos to the Clerics of Tunare and my other 4 chars were not. I know this will help all of you that could not get the figurine before!

I have no idea if you must kill all 3 of the sisters who attack you, but I do know for a fact that I got the blood message after I riposte killed Kayla, before either Jayla or Tayla attacked me. It may be you only need to kill one of them or even just her specifically.
*Any of them can give out the message on death, but I think that it is time limited; only one in a certain period of time.

After "correcting" faction with Clerics of Tunare from Ready to attack to Max Ally, (7044 bone chips turned in to Yeolarn Bronzeleaf) Completing quest Wino, 104 times in total. a drunkard does not respond as listed

On my final attempt at this quest after not recieving the expected responces from a drunkard and continuing regardless. I went to Lesser Faydark and spoke to the Nybright sisters, all 4 of the sisters were totaly unresponsive, no text, no emotes, no attack, wouldn't even turn to face me when hailed. I went on to Sunrise hills and Spoke to Claire and she gave the expected responces and awarded me my Armored Orcakar Figurine.
In summary this quest is quite possibly the buggiest I have encountered in 10 years of playing EQ.

If anyone is curious as to how I'm increasing my faciton so quickly, Bone Chips (Felwithe), There's a Gnome in Brells Rest that sells bone chips as her regular stock. I'm almost up to 5000 bone chips handed in.

Well I ran this quest like 5 times.. got the "blood on your hands" message and all of that.. when back to Claire and she responds to the first message about "who is tandan nybright?" with her correct reply but when i ask her if she is Mayla Nybright i do not get a response at all.

I feel your pain Merf... Conned Tandan and he scowled at me ready to attack... apparently not enough good faction with Clerics or Tunare. I hailed him anyway and said 'Who Is Claire Nybright' and did NOT get the response listed in walk through. I decided to finish without this portion and went to the Nybright camp... that ALL went as it was supposed to. Got blood on my hands and the whole nine yards. I then went back to Sunrise Hills and hailed Clarie with the phrases listed... no response from her. She was at the Orcakar table at the time so I don't know if that made a difference. I logged out and was not able to get back to her for a couple of days but went back in last night and decided to try the final hails again. She was standing in front of her painting. I gave her the final phrases and THIS TIME got the proper responses and the figurine! So I don't know if it was a timing issue or a bug or what... but going back after a wait made a difference for me. You for sure don't need a response from Tandan... I was never able to get him to say his phrase as listed above. Hope this helps. BTW the figurine looks WAY COOL on the mantle above the fire place in my house :)

I tried to do this quest but no go. A Drunkard/Tandan Nybright doesn't like Ogres that worship Rallos Zek. I tried a couple Essence potions to no avail.
