This is a seasonal Frostfell task that begins with Kuutas Gigglegibber in the Plane of Knowledge (located next to the Plane of Tranquility portal).

You say, 'Hail, Kuutas Gigglegibber'

Kuutas Gigglegibber says 'Hey, bud. I need to talk to you about something important. There may not be any Frostfell celebrations this year. Ol' Santug has been upset lately about how every time Frostfell rolls around, there are always some evil jokers out there who try to spoil everyone's good time by stealing the kids' toys, kidnapping Santug and holding him for ransom, ransacking and burning someone's village, and so on. Well, Santug has decided he's had enough, and is going to lay off all of us Gigglegibber goblins and just not do Frostfell at all this year. I don't have to tell you, this is not only bad for the Gigglegibbers, but it's bad for you too, if you get my [drift].'

You say, 'I get your drift...'

Kuutas Gigglegibber says 'Yeah. We Gigglegibbers depend on Frostfell for more than just the warm feeling of doing good things for others; it's our only paying gig, see, and Frostfell brings in enough plat for us to stay financially flush the whole year 'round. Of course, if we lost our connection with all that good holiday coin, we'd wind up with lots and lots of idle time on our hands. Time that we could fill with say, acts of petty larceny and hooliganism and whatever other kinds of trouble aimless goblins can get themselves into. You don't want that, and I don't want that. So why don't you help us help Santug; I've got a plan to help Santug get his holiday [cheer] back.'

You say, 'How can we get the cheer back?'

Kuutas Gigglegibber says 'It's difficult, but it just might work. If we don't want Santug to lie in bed drinking himself stupid and feeling like no one on Norrath deserves to have a nice Frostfell, we've got to take some steps to find another source of holiday cheer. There are lots of creatures running around Norrath that are hard to even look at, they're so ridiculously carefree and cheerful. I figure we can harvest the brainstems of these overly happy creatures and distill out a potion of Frostfell Cheer that will wake Santug out of this funk he's in, and get him back into the spirit of things. I've sent out twelve Gigglegibbers into various parts of the world to find these brainstems, but of course, they now send messages back that they need the help of some adventurers to hunt down their prey. Are we in [agreement] that this is the best way to save Frostfell this year?'

You say, 'Of course we're in agreement'

Kuutas Gigglegibber says 'I knew you'd come through for Frostfell. I thank you, and my legion of underpaid Gigglegibber goblins thanks you. If you can get this done for us, bring back the Frostfell Cheer potion and I'll send you on a mission to inject Santug with it. If you've already brought back the syringe, you're ready to [start] the mission.'

You have been assigned the task 'Gathering Holiday Cheer'.

You must help Santug recover his holiday cheer in time to save Frostfell this year! Providing the greatest good for the greatest number means Frostfell must not be cancelled! Unfortunately, the only way to restore Santug's holiday cheer is to create it artificially. Kuutas Gigglegibber in the Plane of Knowledge believes that the brainstems of some of the happier and more cheerful creatures in Norrath and elsewhere may contain the key ingredient for a holiday cheer potion.

You are assigned a task in which you're sent to kill five of a certain mob type in a certain zone and to collect their brainstems. Your kill targets depend on your level.

Kill Targets & Hand-In Mobs

At 10-15: "a cuddly bear" & Skwaath Gigglegibber in Crescent Reach. (Cuddly bears are found in the central part of the Hollows as well as the bear caves, while Skwaath is found at the entrance to the Hollows, just outside the city area.)

At 20-25: "a merry aviak" & Gritt Gigglegibber in South Karana. (Merry aviaks are found in the southern part of the zone by aviak village while Gritt is at -5420, -2705 just outside the hermit's hut.)

At 30-35: "a happy zelniak" & Lokrok Gigglegibber in Dawnshroud Peaks. (Happy zelniaks are found throughout much of the zone among regular zelniaks while Lokrok is in the NPC camp just north of the lake in the southwestern corner of the zone.)

At 40-45: "a cheerful Othmir knave" & Trev Gigglegibber in Cobalt Scar. (Cheerful Othmirs are found all along the beach area while Trev is found in the southwestern part of the beach in the vicinity of -830, 330.)

At 50-55: "a playful corathus" & Uddmut Gigglegibber in Corathus Creep. (Playful corathus are found in the south-central part of the zone while Uddmut is found at -315, 450 in the east-central area.)

At 60: "a frisky chromadrac" & Xerkus Gigglegibber in the Skyfire Mountains. (The frisky chromadracs are found in the southeastern part of the zone while Xerkus is located at the southeastern corner.)

At 65: "a delightful siren" & Yukorg Gigglegibber in the Buried Sea. (Delightful sirens are found on Maiden's Grave (the northwest island) while Yukorg is found in the southwestern part of the same island.)

At 70: "a cheerful unicorn" & Saako Gigglegibber in the Elddar Forest. (Cheerful unicorns are found around the lake in the eastern part of the zone while Saako is found next to the tree zone-in to Tunare's Shrine in the southern part.)

At 75: "a frisky shadowcat" & Baint Gigglegibber in the Dragonscale Hills. (Shadowcats are in the central part of the zone, east of the citadel, while Baint is found in a camp on the north-central boundary of the zone.)

At 80: "a playful sea turtle" & Hurhak Gigglegibber in the Hills of Shade. (Sea turtles are found along the shoreline while Hurhak is found at about 1300, 390 -- a little ways south.)

At 85: "a happy frog" & Gruuk Gigglegibber in the Fungal Forest. (Happy frogs are found in the western part of the zone while Gruuk is found just outside the Pellucid Grotto zoneline.)

At 90 and above: "a convival gorilla" & Dorik Gigglegibber in the high level Feerrott. (Gorillas are in the southeastern part of the zone while Dorik is found outside the Rathe Mountains zoneline.)

Task Steps

Kill five XXXXX in XXXXX 0/5 (XXXXX) (The kill targets listed above.)

Loot five XXXXX in XXXXX 0/5 (XXXXX) (The brainstems of the above kill targets.)

Deliver the five Brainstems to XXXXX in XXXXX 0/5 (XXXXX) (To the hand-in mob, listed above, in the same zone.)

Hail XXXXX 0/1 (XXXXX) (Hail the hand-in mob once turn-ins are done.)

Turn-Ins and Rewards

The Fungal Forest closing, for example:

Gruuk Gigglegibber says "There, very good. You've brought me just the right kind of ingredient I asked for. Soon we'll have that potion for Santug ready."

You say, 'Hail, Gruuk Gigglegibber'

Gruuk Gigglegibber says "I think I have enough to put in the phial now. Presto-ka-zam! Your syringe of Frostfell Cheer. Take this, and ask Kuutas where Santug is hiding so you can inject him with it. Then we won't go hungry three months from now when our gold runs out."

Though it was sad to have to sacrifice so many cheerful creatures for the sake of gathering enough raw materials for a potion remedy, the Gigglegibber goblin successfully distilled enough Frostfell Cheer to fill a syringe for Santug!

You receive a Frostfell Cheer Potion (used in the group mission that follows this task).

Presumably, it should be 10. I was able to receive the quest at level 11.

Very easy quest. At level 19 I was sent to Crecent for Cuddly Bears (all con dark blue), and received 3% xp upon completion, Frostfell Potion and a gift box; which as of now can not be opened.
Kinda Sucks

Doesn't it seem a bit strange that the level 85 version is hidden behind a progression locked zone? (At least that's what I understand Fungal Forest to be, never done UF progression myself)

That post was also made "some time ago". And before the progression flag was removed.
CS cannot get there simply

Level 40 Cobalt Scar: Non porters must beg a port so cannot start the quest without assistance. Or farm plat and form a one person guild and buy a guild hall port stone just to get there to start the quest. Cannot go via plane of mischief unless you level up to 46. Run thru GD/EW/Kiel/WL/Skyshrine and get to the CS zone out and find you cannot get there until you farm the key.
IMHO a poorly designed frostfell quest. Unless the designer had something clever in mind.

Necro-responding here but so what! The designer's "something in mind" was perhaps that this is a SOCIAL game so the quester would do something "social" and find a druid or wiz to port them! Not exactly the toughest task ever assigned to a quest...

Level 85 continues:

Deliver the five Happy Frog Brainstems to Gruuk Gigglegibber in the Fungal Forest.
(Gruuk Gigglegibber says "There, very good. You've brought me just the right kind of ingredient I asked for. Soon we'll have that potion for Santug ready."

Hail Gruuk Gigglegibber.

In addition to the Frostfell Gift Box, it included a Potion of Frostfell Cheer which is used in the mission: Operation: Jolliness (By any means necessary)
