Captain Rohand may be found in the Mermaid's Lure near the Qeynos docks.

Your Location is 15.42, -39.44, 3.21

You say, 'Hail, Captain Rohand'

Captain Rohand says 'Greetings, friend, and welcome to the Mermaid's Lure. Here, we sell fishing supplies and some imported goods from far-off lands. And, if you've got a few minutes, I could even tell you a [story] or two.'

You say, 'What story?'

Captain Rohand says 'Stories? Stories? I saw more adventure before I was ten years tall than you'll see in your whole miserable existence. I've been everywhere, [Odus], [Faydwer], [Kunark]. . . You name it, and I can tell ya a little something 'bout it. . . If you buy me a sip of brandy, of course!'

You say, 'Tell me about Odus.'

Captain Rohand says 'You haven't lived until you've seen Odus. Erud was the first human to cross the sea, and he founded the great city of Erudin. The trade routes from here to Odus are busy and prosperous, but can also be very dangerous.'

You say, 'Tell me about Faydwer.'

Captain Rohand says 'I call Faydwer the home of the little people. They say the continent was named by the high elves when they landed on its shores long ago. I've even heard tales of an ancient elven vampire who lives there. . . Just another Felwithe legend, I'll bet!'

You say, 'Tell me about Kunark.'

Captain Rohand says 'Even I can't tell you much about that continent. Kunark is a tough place, populated by even tougher creatures. I hear the high elves of Faydwer have been trying for years to establish a small port on Kunark's hostile shores.'

Give him 1 x Brandy.

Captain Rohand says 'Yeah, this is just what I've been craving!'

Four Stacks of Honey Mead to Trumpy Irontoe will offset all the negative faction hits from giving one stack of Brandy to Rohand.

You will be left with only positive hits left gaining 20 merchant faction per brandy turn in instead of 25 but without the negative hits.

I recommend starting with Trumpy then Rohand second to avoid going KoS to Trumpy by mistake then just cycle back and forth between the two until your merchant faction is maxxed.

This quest also raises "Coalition of Tradefolk" faction.
The faction hits are very big and can completely max factions in minutes.
Captain Rohand Brandy Quest
# Nov 30 2004 at 7:16 PM Rating: Decent
I'm going to post this as I haven't seen any new posts on this in awhile. I am a 52 Vah Shir Rogue. Just being a Rogue will make you Dubious to most Guards and some Merchants. I made the Faction worse, from doing "Rogue Errands" Quest to Max out my Unseen Hands Faction. <Rogues need for doing Epic Quests> Just after maxxing Unseen Hands Faction, I went from Dubious to Threatning with Qeynos Guards. I went and killed Gnolls in Blackburrow for 5 real hours to get just back to Dubious status. I then went and bought 60 Brandy's, turned them in, and went to Ally status with most. Good Guards are now Amiable, Corrupt Guards <Because of Unseen Hands Faction> are now Indifferent. Anyway, this is alot easier than killing Gnolls for days.

P.S. Captain Rohand is in South Qeynos, inside Mermaid's Lure. He can be found using "Find" under Fishing Supplies.

Rohand has a down side
# Nov 13 2002 at 2:04 AM Rating: Decent
Be aware that Rohand's Brandy is a mixed blessing :I had moved my High Elf Mage to Qeynos and was conned apprehensively most places, indiff to most guards. Fed Captain Rohand 12 brandies and went to amiable with merchants, still indiff to guards. Much better prices at vendors so that's the good part. Unfortunately , I am now KOS to Unseen Hands, so totally forget trading at Fish's Ale or turning in moonstones for free grog. Trumpy and his buds will aggro on you from any distance that they can see you from, so going to the bank or the dock is now an adventure if they are out and about. Do NOT do this quest if you need to coexist with Unseen Hands for some reason.
Incandescent Mask
# Jul 22 2002 at 12:33 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a Dark Elf Enc on Vallon Zek who used this quest to raise qeynos factions to complete the Incandescent Mask quest. Doing this quest and getting the factions also allows you to do other quests on those factions which can lead to raising other factions, and since I used to be a faction junkie i was all about this. Anyhow, I did the quest when you could still trade invis so i was usually invised when turning in the brandy. However I remember from doing it so much that there is actually only one guard that aggros and its only when he paths close to the bar. I stood with my back on the wall behind the captain with illusion human and I'm sure i used whatever spell i had at the time on him to raise his faction just to be safe. If you invis or just go somewhere where you won't get aggro'd and watch the area in front of the door you will see the guard path by on occasion, just wait for him to leave and time how long you have, then once you have the timing down invis run in and start doing the trades, invis then get out b4 he comes back. As far as I know noone around that area sees invis. I think I initally did the erudin quest with the tonic for the guy in the bank to get some qeynos faction then did this quest for the merchant faction, and the faction to open other quests up. I think the quest with the moonstones is another faction quest I did after I had some base faction. In the End I ended up with Max faction to Qeynos guards and corrupt quards and Qeynos merchants. As for the Neg hit to the Circle of Unseen Hands, that's simple to repair. It may take some time but just go to WK and sit in the bandit camp and slaughter them at will and you'll get another 3-4 good faction hits with only Neg hits to the bandits. One of the factions received is the Circle of unseen hands. Also while you do this to repair your faction you can collect the bandit sashes for that quest and get even more faction =). But as a Dark Elf doing the Mask quest Getting this faction is necessary to complete the quest becasue the women you get the rune from is on some Qeynos faction, i think it was Merchant, but I'd look her up in Illa's to be sure. Of course the mask isn't no drop so it is possible to buy one. but I rarely see them for sale, and doing the faction work is easier then creating another character to quest for it IMO.
Do this
# Jul 06 2002 at 5:46 AM Rating: Decent
Do this untill ur level 4 or 5.... ( self pling wise ) then go ur nearest souldbinder and start beating him or her untill ur fighting skills are all maxed ( piercing 1hs 2hs 1hb 2hb etc )
Then do it again untill well what ever u can afford then head over to BB and get into a group and max ur fighting skills there ( this takes time and is very frustration but its better then nothing )

Hope thiz is some help to all of u

Best use I've found of this quest is this.
If you can at least enter Qeynos, and get to Captain Rohund, feed him STACKS of Brandy. I'm talking like one or two BACKPACKS full of Brandy.

Since you can giev him 4 stacks at a time, thats 80. You'll get seriously spammed with stuff, but after you do, con a few people. This is an EASY way to raise yourself to ALLY with a few of the local factions.
RE: Faction
# Jul 03 2002 at 6:26 PM Rating: Decent
Here is something that you might not have noticed, or which might have changed since you did this quest by handing in 80 bottles at a time: I just did the quest, and gave 5 (stacked) at a time, then scrolled up and counted.. only got the factions 4 times. So it seems that if you give more than 4 at a time you are wasting the extras. Still a great way to raise faction though, went from apprehensive to Kindly in about 30 seconds. :)

is this a good way to raise up alts? im sick of collecting df belts i just want something cheap i can buy for xp for my alts (to skip those first 10 annoying levels) hehe if you go past like 15 with an alt ur skills suck to much to kill evens unless u twink him royally, so im not too worried about that

Perhaps you've mistaken this Quest with the "Honey Mead for Trumpy Irontoe" quest? This doesn't increase Unseen Hands faction, but it's the easiest way I know to get Qeynos Merchants up to Indifferent (you don't get better prices beyond that).

I TOTALLY agree with the post about PHENOMENAL faction gains with Capt Rohand. I, as a DE Ench, and then as DE Nec killed 7 levels of Treants in SK. Each Treant gives me NEG faction hits with Q Guards on top of my Race/Rel bad start. I took 30 (about 65pp) stacks of Brandy with me to QS, go inviz and zone into QS, bind at zone ( I always had inviz wear off one time too early, and died at least once), re-inviz, walk into Capt Rohand's bldg on the dockside, and start handing him 4 bottles of Brandy, 2 stacks at once. He will give 8 faction/exp mss per gift, maximum. In less than 30 stacks I am no longer KOS to Q Guards/Merchants, but actually allied or about dub (seems to be 2 factions among Guards and Merchants) AND no one mentioned the CoalitionofTradefolk faction........ I don't recall it earlier, as Ench, but NOW you get it. When I went back to WC, as a DE Necro, I could now trade with each Inn's side Merchants at ALLY, and with center Merchants at the step above Dubious!!
My Ench Needed to get over the effects of 7 levels of Treants and the DE Race/Rel thing to get Madame Selena (stands just outside the Capt's bldg, OR on some servers on the stairs just inside his bldg [Called 2 GM's to reset her to outside to no avail] to sell me her Glowing Mask for 50 gp, and was able to achieve high enough faction to buy the Glowing Mask for the Inc Mask quest.....Second best Mask in game for Ench., at that time. Delicious faction repairs for Treants killers.

Hit squad comes after you
# Feb 10 2001 at 1:39 PM Rating: Good
Rogues will send a hit squad of guards after you who are not merely corrupt, but also members of the rogue guild. The rogue guards are triggered by doing this quest, I presume when your faction drops to KOS.

Rogue faction is easy to fix, with the rogue errands quest. Get your faction with the rogues to "Looks upon you warmly", then give two stacks of brandy to the captain rohand in the mermaid.

Then go back to rogue's guild, bring your faction back up to "looks upon you warmly". Repeat as required.

The faction given by this quest is PHENOMENAL... as long as you are in decent standing with CircleOfUnseenHands or don't care about them... since 4 brandy at a time will give you literally 1 faction level in many cases with merchants(i.e. indiff to amiable)... also hits the following other factions...

+MerchantsofQey
+GuardsofQey
+AntoniusBayle
-CircleofUnseenHands
