You say, 'Hail, Marshal Lanena'

Marshal Lanena says, 'Hello, Elina. I am Lanena Wickystick, marshal of all Vale concerns. If there are any troubles brewing in our fine town which concern the Guardians of the Vale, please inform me. You must be a [new deputy] or are you an [outsider]?'

You say, 'new deputy'

Marshal Lanena says, 'It is good to see such fine stock in the ranks of the Guardians. Being new, there is much to learn, in battle and in life itself. If you are not presently obligated, we have need of you here in the hollow. There seems to be a [small problem].'

You say, 'small problem'

Marshal Lanena says, 'For months, Fiddy Bobick has petitioned the marshals to assist him with a problem he has. With the addition of new deputies such as yourself, we can now give him the assistance he requires. Just go down to Bobick's shop near the lake. Tell him I sent you.'

You say, 'Hail, Fiddy Bobick'

Fiddy Bobick says, 'Ahoy, mate! The name's Fiddy Bobick! Perhaps you've heard of me... the greatest halfling to sail the seas of Norrath? I have been to the North, South, East and West, and thank Prexus, I have survived it all! Why I have returned to this little hollow is a wonder to me. Obviously, the salty air finally got to my brain!'

You say, 'Lanena sent me'

Fiddy Bobick says, 'Well, it's about blasted time! The ship was about to sink. Wickystick finally managed to send the troops in! The problem, mate, is piranha ! What?! That's what I said. Piranha! The lake is infested with the little buggers. More and more every sunrise. They're chomping down all our food supply. You have gotta get your can in the drink and kill them. Take one of their teeth to old Wickystick and see what she has to say about Fiddy then! I will also give you some booty for any teeth you pull out of this river. Well, get going, Deputy Elina!'

Jump in to the lake and start killing piranhas (be careful as they tend to come in pairs - and keep an eye on your air meter). Kill the trout to get large piranha to spawn, be careful as Chomper may also spawn!

Upon turn-in of 1 piranha tooth at least dubious faction, Fiddy Bobick says, 'Whew! We are sure on the way to saving this village, pal! They're gonna erect a statue in our names. Fishslayers is what we are! Let's keep up the good work!'

You may also bring a tooth back to Marshall Lanena to prove that Fiddy is not crazy.

Upon turn-in of 1 piranha tooth, 'What was I thinking?! Piranha are coming downstream and eating our supply of fish! We have never had a problem like this! Where are these little beasts coming from? For now we must collect more. Take this bag. Collect enough teeth to fill the bag. Don't worry, if it takes a while I shall reward you with the [Rantho Rapier]. We will need to examine the teeth.'

You receive 1 silver from Marshal Lanena.

You say, 'Rantho Rapier'

Marshal Lanena says, 'The Rantho Rapier was crafted by the great blacksmith Rantho Goobler. It was designed for use by the warriors of the wee folk. With its light weight and special two-hand hilt, it becomes a formidable weapon in the hands of our younger deputies. Only a [new deputy] has the right to earn one.'

Upon turn-in of the bag of piranha teeth, Marshal Lanena says, 'Fine work. We shall continue to study these and shall determine if we need to seek the source.'

I can confirm that this quest is working. I just got 2 rapiers for me and a buddy. Just need to be a little patient!
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 22 2000 at 10:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this quest isnt working there are no pirahnas any more (great job on upkeep) :p

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 3:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

Seriously, I've seen this post like 10 times now on all sorts of different quest pages in here. Now what the hell does any of that have to do with this quest? Do you just go to random ones and put this in? Granted, what you're saying makes a lot of sense, but not for this quest. Don't you have anything better to do?

faction hit

beware the faction hit, coalition of tradesfolk...
i was wondering why my 29 druid got such crappy receptions (apprehensive to most) when shopping.. between this quest and reebo's carrots she isn't to well liked and i did them so long ago (before i knew to worry about faction hits) that i didn't realize it till recently.

To repair your Tradesfolk Ill faction, turn in Tumpy Tonics to Groflah Steadirt in the Tavern on the Freeport dock (he is only there at night, I think). Every time you turn one in you improve Tradesfolk Ill, Tradesfolk, merchents of qeynos and Knights of truth with no negatives.
Rapier

ell, its an awesome weapon to practice you 2hs (although what would you need that for as a rouge) but 2hs also have a higher damage cap than regular 1hs and piercing, combine that with the low delay and you waxing mobs.

I thought it odd that it was a 2HS Rapier instead of piercing, but noticed it was only for the smallest races. Perhaps it's made like a rapier but the hilt is so tiny only the little folks can wield it as a 2-hander.
A slashing rapier?
# Jul 25 2000 at 7:47 PM Rating: Default
Since when are rapiers slashing weapons?(in Eq anyway)
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 10 2000 at 2:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Since now :D... Do rogues even get 2hs?
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 26 2000 at 1:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ROgues do not get 2hs. You can probably equip it though and I wonder If you get 2hs skill ups?
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 25 2001 at 2:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You don't raise skill as far as I know, I had my roguew use it for a while, never gained any skill.

For those posting about the rapier being slashing: Historically, rapiers ARE slashing weapons. You pierce also, but fighting tactics for Rapiers were draws and slashes across the body.

Totally incorrect. A rapier is a thrusting weapon, used in a similar fashion to a foil. It has a tapered spring steel blade, and a very lightly sharpened edge.

A sabre on the other hand, was a slashing weapon that would also be used for piercing, using draws and slashes across the body.

Well, a rapier is used to thrust when you go against an armored opponent. The only reasonable targets are eye and breathing holes, or joints which are either bare or backed with chain.

But by the time technology could create a good steel rapier blade, gunpowder had become prevalent, and fewer and fewer people wore armor. While it could still do major damage, the thrust was relegated to a finishing move because afterward you were left open to counters. It's fast speed made slashes safer, and could still do decent damage -- dueling scars aren't small round holes, they're crescents or bars.

Of course, I'm completely wrong if you only consider modern sword fighting, where a win is counted as a light touch, and innumerable rules are enforced to prevent injuries.

I'm right if you consider fights which were kill or be killed, where only a fool would try to stop a fight with "Foul! Foul! That was an illegal attack! I win the match!"
