This solo task begins with Omnus Vigilcap in Volska's Husk, a sporali located at -500, -565, -120 (midway through the sporali caves in the east).
You say, 'Hail, Omnus Vigilcap' Omnus Vigilcap says 'Identify yourself, intruder! Are you a [follower] of our master's teachings? Have you come to join us and begin your life of self-discovery? Or are you a mercenary hunter, sent by those vile Gnoll and Kobold [raiders]?' You say, 'Yes, yes, I'm a follower' Omnus Vigilcap says 'The words of Brell's First, sprinkled from the lips of the Bellikos, fell like rain over our withered caps. We who have been captured, herded like beasts, and bred for food and slaughter soaked in these words and became like newborn sprouts cracking through dry soil. We learned that we do not have to sacrifice ourselves to feed the ambitions of Brell or his minions. We can follow our own desires and live our own lives. We can settle where we wish or journey where we please. Our stalks can grow thick and tall until we stoop not under the lash, but under old age. We are [individuals].' You say, 'Individuals?' Omnus Vigilcap says 'Or so I thought when I first came here, after being captured in Corathus and then breaking free from the Cliknar. But what we want is not what the Gnolls or Kobolds want. To them, we are lower than beasts; we are their food. For some of my kin to escape from the farms of the Cliknar only to end up as prey for these foul-smelling flesh eaters is an indignity that I will not tolerate. True, the Gnolls and Kobolds are following the teachings of our master and taking what they desire, but my will is stronger. I will fight these [raiders] until my stalk is riven and my spores are spread over the flames.' You say, 'Raiders?' Omnus Vigilcap says 'That is why I stand watch. The Knolls and Kobolds come in packs. Even though we all believe in the words of the First, they snatch my kin in their teeth and make off with them into the depths of the Greken husk. With my vigilance, though, the casualties are diminished: At my alert, my kin rally to this cavern's entrance and drive back as many invaders as they can. Until the [Bellikos] hear our grievances, I will fend off the invaders and break their will.' You say, 'What about the Bellikos?' Omnus Vigilcap says 'We have appealed to the Bellikos, but they tell us the will of the First is that all creatures do as they wish. A Gnoll desires to eat a Sporali. A Sporali desires to live. Who can tell either they are wrong? The strongest will shall decide. And with you on my side, _____, I can be the strongest. Go to the Gnoll and Kobold camps and [kill] them.' You say, 'I'll kill them' Omnus Vigilcap says 'Excellent, _____. Take revenge on them and show them that the Sporali's will to live is greater than a Gnoll or Kobold's gnawing hunger will ever be.' You have been assigned the task 'A Dish Served Cold'. The Sporali have been preyed upon long enough. Omnus Vigilcap wants you to kill the Gnolls and Kobolds responsible for the raids against the Sporali.
