If you are hunting for sashes, you need to kill raiders in SK, which, by the way is how an shadowknight friend of mine is now allied in Qeynos. All my friends who do the spectacles get them in EK for faster drop. However, you can get both of these of all other raiders and bandits with a lot of patients in the other two zones, cause I have picked them up at lower levels and I wasnt in EK or SK.

You say, 'Hail, Gehna Solbenya' Gehna Solbenya says 'Greetings and blessings to you, _____. Karana offers you his protection and guidance. All who accept the offer shall find safe haven within our Temple of Thunder. If you are a cleric of Karana, you must have a [desire to serve Karana]'s flock.' You say, 'I have a desire to serve Karana' Gehna Solbenya says 'If you are a young acolyte, you may [deliver blessings to the flock] and if you are a skilled cleric, we need you to [hunt bandit binders].' You say, 'I will hunt bandit binders.' Gehna Solbenya says 'Go to the Plains of Karana and seek out the Karana Bandits. Among them can be found their bandit binders. They are healers of sorts. Which evil deity granted them this power is unknown to us. Each carries a binder spectacle. I shall reward clerics for every two returned spectacles. Perhaps a new power may even be bestowed.' Sashes can drop off of any bandit or brigand in the various Karana zones.

I know for a fact that they still drop (at least on Fennin Ro) and I have gotten them twice from the same female bandit each time I've been there. I did not know what quest they were for so I just destroyed them and the key that dropped at the same time. It was the bandit camp on the northern edge of the EK zone. I was just wiping them out for faction so I couldn't care less. I hope this helps someone. I can't vouch for it being rare since 100% of the times I've killed her, she's had the spectacle and key.

Nope no key just spectacle and some change, the key and the STAFF part you are thinking of drops off of the named bandit at that camp, and yes he does drop it 100% of the time, the spectacle is some what more rare.

Spectacles do still drop, I got one today, though I wasn't looking for it and didn't pay attention to which bandit dropped it. If they are as rare as they sound, I think I'll skip this quest.

Working the spiders in the area and like to clear the bandit camp for slim chance at faction boost in East Karanas. I'm a 20th level troll SK and as long as all the bandits don't pop casters it's not too bad taking them on.
The named bandit is still blue to me at 20th although he *only* drops the staff peice and the key for an apparently broken quest.
There's also a barbarian in ring armor called a brigand - he's also blue to me right now - seems to pop a bit less frequently than the dervish thugs - hits harder though - had a bronze club first time I met him.
I've gotten one sash so far off of a male bandit that looked like a monk. Got one spectacle off of one of the red heads - don't remember if she was casting or melee though.
For the record (maybe I got lucky) I've killed maybe 30 or so bandits 50 at the very most.
As a side note, atleast in EK, the female half elves seem to consitantly be druids while the red heads are primarily whatever caster class gets the damage sheilds - I take no more than 10 points per hit off of them. The half elf druids sometimes have a thorn line DS on as well - didn't pay attention to damage though - they die *real* quick.

I just found one and identified it. I just happened to kill a bandit near Tallus. I had camped there previously when I was smaller and never seen one (must have killed about 500 bandits with group) and I leveled there from 12 - 16. I was hoping for a better quest item seeing as it is so rare. a level 9 scroll by the time you would get two of these would be really lame. Only thing I can imagine it could be used for is a better quest... but given some of the other really lame quests, i doubt it.

I can validate they still drop as well. Cleared the bandit camp in EK out with my 28 monk as I passed by (nobody ever camps it). Got a spectacle from one of the females and HK 401 from the named NPC.

got a spectacle off a bandit yesterday. so, yes, they do drop still. again, I think it dropped of the red-haired human as stated earlier

I too had killed a Bazillon bandits for the faction they give, but rarely in East Karana. Yesterday i did clear out the bandit camp in EK and did find a spectacle, but the funny thing was that it droped off the female human with the red hair, that bandit is always a monk type fighter in other zones but this one cast a lightning type spell. Just thought that was interesting.

Spectacles no longer drop from EK bandits, they have been replaced with standard bandit sashes.
I got "A Spectacle" (which identifies as "Karana Bandit Binder Spectacle") off of one of the bandits in EK today.

I cleared out the the Bandit camp waiting for Broom to spawn in northern EK and killed Tallus. He dropped the Staff segment and H.K. 401. Another Bandit droped A Spectacle. On the Seventh Hammer server this isn't broken.
Today I was playing around with the bandits in Eastern Karanas while awaiting an undead Lord Grimrot so I could make him yet more dead. I wiped the camp several times, easy being a 49 cleric naturally. Reporting here Tallus Horton always had the staff segment and the key, sometimes that is all he had (no spectacle) other than some small pocket change. However red sashs did drop, though I paid no attention as from which bandits dropped them the most. I do know Tallus does not always have spectacles and he did not have a sash either. The first time I dropped him he had a spell research paper (words or some other form of paper) and some other items along with the key and staff segment, but the last two times he slept soundly as I rifled his corpse he only had the key and the staff segment.

heh, you are both wrong. I just cleared the EK Bandit camp - Tallus Horton dropped a staff segment and a key named H.K.401. The red headed human girl did drop a spectacle though.

Judging by the posts here and the fact that I have personally killed (according to my logfile) 3979 bandits (all in wk) i would assume that specs only drop in ek. Though I cannot comment on nk/sk bandits.

What faction do you need to do this quest. I am amiable with them and have done the temple blanket quest and blessings quest a few times. I have completed the moonstone quest about 70 or so times. I have done the crush the undead quest several times. Every time I tried to get her to give me the quest it says i still need to prove myself or something like that. Just wondering what you need to do to get this quest.

I most have killed over 200 bandits in my time between 3 characters, and only once found a spectacle. Anyone else see this? BTW, the spectacle I did find was on a Bandit in East Karana.

That was my experience as well: Tons of bandit kills under my belt (mostly in WK), but I killed some in EK and one dropped a spectacle. It seems they're EK-only and pretty rare.

I have only seen one spectacle and it was from a bandit in the camp with Tallus Holden in EK

i did kill the bandits in gruop with Tallus Holden and may be this is the only place that is droped,i am not sure that the reward is good enough for u too mees with Tallus Holden is pretty tough guy.u might need help group or partener to be on the safe side.
