This is a special raid in the style of the Living Legacy raids, which became available April 13, 2009 as part of EverQuest's 10th Anniversary events. It periodically becomes available on live servers for weeks at a time. For much of the year, it is not available.

In 2014, it will be available from November 12 through to December 10.

It begins with Grusal the Emissary of Rallos in the Plane of Knowledge.

Here, you'll have to kill about 21 dragons total. The description from the 10th Anniversary Website:

Mighty beasts and children of the crystalline goddess Veeshan, dragons have always commanded respect and fear from Norrathian adventurers. For years, would-be dragon slayers have coveted their glittering hordes and feared their crushing claws. Prove your mettle in the newest encounter for the 10th anniversary. Make your way through the dragons of Norrath, starting with Lord Nagafen and culminating with the mighty Kerafyrm. Group and raid-sized versions both promise to test the abilities of all levels of adventurers. Top the leaderboard with your fastest time!

The reward is a Gold Plated Contact Spring Model of varying power, depending on how many dragons your group or raid manages to kill.

There is a second reward, Gold Plated Spiked Gear Model, of varying power that will scale based on the years played by the character.

105 ranger, 105 bard (raid geared) + 95 shaman bot (RoF group geared) knocked out all 20 dragons. didn't think we'd make it past Big Bynn but it was a lot easier than I imagined. Kerafyrm was a lot of fun and can most likely be ranger/shaman duo'd.

doing all 20 dragons gave us this contact spring aug:
AC: 30, WIS: 0+4, INT: 0+4, HP: +100, MANA: +200, ENDUR: +100

the other (charm) aug is based on your character's years /played.
my account is over 15 years /played which gave this spike gear aug:
AC: 20, STR: 0+3, DEX: 0+4, STA: 0+3, CHA: 0+6, WIS: 0+3, INT: 0+3, AGI: 0+4, HP: +175, MANA: +175, ENDUR: +175

we also did Giants x3 event, got up to Brekt but did not attempt him. have fun!

You would need to be following a chain of instances starting at trivial and increasing in difficulty as you went on. It's not a quest in the sense you are using the word.

Level 97 WAR and level 96 CLR were able to duo the quest line up to Lethar 2.0. The only real bottleneck in the entire thing was Kessdona, since you need someone with tracking abilities for those stupid golems (this part of the event took over a little over 2 hours of trial-and-error and guessing which golems were the correct ones to kill). Would have killed Lethar easily, but the quest ran out of time.

Mercs are automatically suspended upon zoning in to any one of the zones.

The reward is a Gold Plated Spiked Gear Model of varying power, depending on how many dragons your group or raid manages to kill.

There is a second reward (unknown as of yet) which will be given to players after the event has run its course. It will scale based on how well your group/raid did compared to other groups/raids on your server. Time will be used to break ties.

I think this should be changed to:

The reward is a Gold Plated Contact Spring Model of varying power, depending on how many dragons your group or raid manages to kill.

This doesn't seem to mesh with the the charm effect for the Gold Plated Spiked Gear Model. Can anyone confirm that this is the case?

Ok, if you already have these augs from previous DDD runs, this is the way they upgrade:

1) The charm aug will update automatically depending on your furthest attempt credit, but the actual aug itself is based off how many years of veteran rewards you have (so 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, etc in /played). So the only time you ever need to delete it and get a new one is after your account is credited with another full year paid for.

2) The other aug does not update automatically, and is based solely on your attempt that suceeded the furthest. It will need to be deleted any time you progress further into the mission.

As for the abacus (clicky) that you get when you join the mission in inventory, you can also get it from another NPC near the GL entrance in PoK. Believe that NPC is up year round as well.

One last note, don't use the normal aug removers, use the one sold by the same NPC that costs 10 plat and destroys the aug instead of removing it. These augs can always be replaced (though i'd get the abacus in hand before deleting myself), and therefore it makes no sense paying alot to remove it when upgrading.

What npc are you talking about? You can't buy or sell anything to Grusal the Emissary of Rallos. I go to guild hall and try that merchant thinking maybe there is a 10pp aug solvent that will destroy the aug. The only thing for sale from that npc that came close to 10pp was Augmentation Solvent which didn't work and class III augmentation distiller which of course did not work either. If your talking about Distribution Facilitator XCV he doesn't sell that augment distiller either. He does give you a new Gold Clockwork Abacus upon hail and then you would right click that to get your reward.

Doing the group version of Dragons, Dragons, Dragons no longer provides rewards based on how many dragons you are able to kill.

You are now rewarded with a model augment that is equal to the amount of credited time on your account.

Yes, this means if you have 2 years on your account and your group kills kerafyrm...you are rewarded with model II

Yes, this means if you have 11 years on your account and only kill Nagafen before bailing out...you are rewarded with model XI

It is correct that the only thing that determines the model of the Gold Plated Spiked Gear (charm aug) you get is the age of your account.
However, the model number of your Spiked Gear only relates to the MAXIMUM stats on the augment. Your farthest progress through the Dragons, Dragons, Dragons event is what determines the portion of those stats you actually get for your aug, much like how charms work. For your examples, the person with 2 years on their account that finished out the entire DDD event would have max stats on their Model II spiked gear aug (10 ac 125 hp/mana/end) and the person with 11 years that only killed 1 dragon would have the Model XI spiked gear aug with very very minimal stats (something like 1 AC 5 hp/mana/end and maybe 1 in one or two of the mod2 stats)
Also, the Gold Plated Contact Spring aug model you get is determined by your furthest progress through the event. I've not got good data on the models vs. the progress but I assume the ones you get for raid progress are better than the ones for group progress.

After doing some research, and after running this quest in 2009 and again in 2010, I have come to this conclusion....

Gold Plated Spiked Gear Model (whatever) - is the "Living Legacy" style reward. This item is linked to your account entitlement. Still available to new toons running D3 for the first time. If you did it in 2009 and lost your aug, then hail Distibution Facilitator in pok to get a new one. Or to get an upgraded one (if your time went up) destroy old and hail.

Gold Plated Contact Spring Model (whatever) -- the "scaled" reward. Still available to anyone doing D3 now. No longer scaled supposedly, but purely on how many dragons you kill.

However- In 2009 my guild killed all dragons with 20 mins to spare- this year we killed all with less then 5. Those who did not have the aug previously did not get the ultimate aug but a slightly lower one. So maybe time DOES still play a factor? Is there maybe a bar set per server? Anyway.. more tests to come.

Happy Dragon Killing!

Chanter mezzed the adds - as well as he could, but they kept despawning, it seemed. Maybe it was just after he reset at 75. Seemed more often though.

... Enraged Imp CAN pop from any of the scarelings in Fear during this event. It spawns indifferent, but will assist any of the mobs, and killing it will spawn his nastier cousin, Ireblind Imp.
... This would not be a problem to any of the raids that this event is designed for, but if you're two friends at level 55 and 61 killing dragons for kicks, it is quite an unexpected and painful experience when you're already LOM after clearing out a ton of trash ;-)

I also have done this event 3 times boxing various toons and found a similar problem. But each account i had up received a different rank of aug. Upon close examination i realized that the rank of my aug on each account always ended up being the same # as the amount of veteran rewards i had. I used different level characters each time and each account got same rank reward every time.

If you start this task and dont get all the way thru for whatever reason, do you have to start from the beginning next time you try it or can you pick up where you left off?

ie. can I fight thru to Quarm, log for the night, then pick back up tomorrow and go right to Kess?

Nope, new instance = start over.

Ran through this thrice, First through Kess with SK buddy (duo), into Quarm (duo with father's Zerker), then again into Yar'Lir with SK buddy again.

If you have the aug in your charm you can still go through with this task again and the aug will automatically get better stats if you go further along the progression. I was worried when i right clicked the item to get new charm aug and then realized quite foolishly that it was lore and it disapeared. Though when i checked the aug from doing this previously that i have equipped in charm slot it went up in stats.

Made it to Vish with just 3 actual toons. Me boxing beastlord and ranger and sister playing mage with 2 merc clerics and 1 tank merc. No raid gear all SoD tier 5 group armor. Yar lir was actually harder than the 3 relic dragons since merc tank died with the mob at 70% and beastlord tanked the rest the way. Kess wasn't really hard but was a pain since i was boxing the ranger and it took forever. The 3 relic dragons seemed pretty easy compared to the DoN ones. Stopped at Vish since the beastlord died to adds so mag and rng gated out. We ignored the eggs which is probably what our downfall was. Never actualy done alot of these events before so was fun just to take part in them and see some new dragons. A solid full grp with real healer and tank should be able to make it close to the end with just SoD group armor and raid geared folks should have no problems. The aug we got for getting to #15 was only 11ac 111hp/mana/edur on bst, rng though and mag only got a model 1 with 76hp/55mana which was kinda of a jip. Bst got model VIII with 105 days played on 8 yr + account

The question arises... especially for those who don't qualify for the top version of the Aug.

Each year at Anniversary time, can they upgrade? It would seem logical that they can get a group task, click the Abacus and get the next version of the Aug.

Those of us with the top aug all ready, obviously, will not get upgrades.

Patch changes and notes

Recent Patch moved Vish to #15 and Ashenback, Shar'Drahn and Tsikut back one slot each (13, 14, 15, respectively).

Do this as a raid and the timer is 3 hours.

Do this as a group and the timer is 6 hours.

Raid or group, you get the SAME reward... however, rumor has it that in the group setting you get aug stats that are "one step" better than the step you ended on (as opposed to raid, where the aug stats are based on the actual steps completed).

Upon getting the mission, you will get a Gold Clockwork Abacus. You can click this at any time to get your Aug. It does not matter if you click the Abacus during, after or whenever, the Aug itself will carry stats that apply as noted below. Even if you click the Abacus right away, it will still grow in stats as you progress in the mission (see below).

The version of the Aug you get, initially, will be based on your accounts "years" played credit. The higher the number (re: Gold Plated Spiked Gear Model XIV), the better the aug.

Next, the aug is progressive. Initially it will not have very good stats (which you cannot see until you equip it). As you kill each Dragon (complete a task step), the Aug will get progressively better.

A few notes on having done this in raid twice and in a group once, as I type this.

* After you finish the kill(s) for a task step, Grusal the Emissary of Rallos will appear. Say to him "Continue" and you will be ported to the next zone.

* If anyone dies or somehow gets behind, they can head back to PoK and say "Die" to Grusal the Emissary of Rallos to catch back up. (The same way you get into the first zone).

* A decently geared group/raid of 80-plus should easily get thru Step 9 with no slowing down.

* Don't slow down to loot... few if any MOB's drop anything and that's all junk. Some Dragons did drop their normal spells, but nothing else (no actual loot drops).

* Unfortunately, you will take MAJOR hits on both Veeshan factions in doing this series.

1) Naggy: You appear just before the giant fort. Zerg in and zerg Naggy.

2) Vox: You appear at the entrance to the ice gaints area. Zerg in. Remember, the 2nd ramp on left is the one without a hidden pit trap (people always fall in and get separated from the main raid... gate and come back if you do). Zerg Vox too.

3) You appear at the portal in Fear. A Dracoliche... I never knew this was considered a "Dragon" as opposed to a trash MOB. Your raid will likely get debuffed here from all the trash. the Dracoliche is out into the zone, but Grusal the Emissary of Rallos appears back at the portal.

4) You appear at the spires. Gorenaire is just on the other side of the ice tunnel. Zerg! I wouldn't waste any time on rebuffs yet. Grusal the Emissary of Rallos appears on a hill behind where Gore was.

5) You appear at the bridge that leads the the ledge that goes around to Trakanon. Trak is the 1st Dragon that will give XP (green con at 85). Zerg! Grusal the Emissary of Rallos appears along the wall there.

6) Phara Dar will aggro right thru the doors where you appear, so the fight will likely be on as soon as you zone in. Zerg! Grusal the Emissary of Rallos appears in the room (to left) where Phara Dar came from.

7) You appear a distance from your target this time and will have aggro on the way... some Light Blue. Fight in to Lord Yelinak and kill him (he has a lot of HP).

8) As with step 7, you appear a short way from the actual target. Zerg around the corner and to Vulak`Aerr and then zerg him (lots of HP again).

9) You appear in Sleepers Tomb at the Sleeper area. Simply zerg around the circle and kill all 4 Warders to finish this step.

10) You appear in Time near Quarm. Now is the time to rebuff and med. Zerging is now out of the picture, from here on. Quarm is the first Dark Blue con (at 85) dragon. Remember, every 25% a head explodes and you have to re-tash and re-slow. The adds do spawn, but they are ignorable.

11) You appear at the path leading up to Kess. Kess works the same way as normal. Round 1, kill each golem that changes into a "Depleted" golem. Round 2, kill the CORRECT Protector. If you don't, Kess heals. If you do, Kess can be killed 10% more. A BIG NOTE -- you need a tracker to find the right one, as only the right one can be tracked. In my group mission, the guessing game (no track) simply did not work.

12) You appear outside Yar'Lirs building. Remember, go in together as the doors lock. Also, in Hurricane form, get under the Dragon. The adds do appear as normal.

13, 14 & 15) You appear in Relic up on the ramps. Your next three targets are all ready up... but you have to kill them in the order of the task steps... Ash then Shar and then Tsikut. All three are the same as normal, except there are no adds (no egg spawns, etc.).

16) You appear on the path leading up to the Vish area. This is event is just like normal... with one exception... no adds when players die.

17) You appear around the bend from Lethar. Pull and clear to Lethar (trash here is hard hitting, so be aware). Once clear, you have to speak with Lethar to start the event. Remember, always keep Lethar turned away from the Mirror drake, kite or off tank Selay, mezz or otherwise deal with the adds and watch for and cure the Death Touch. This is sort of like vish on steroids. Good luck.

This as far as I have gotten... hope my notes help.

i boxed this with my friend the other day, we got up to vish, we had an 85bst tanking which is myself, and i boxed an 85 mage for dps, my friend ran his 80 necro, 85 shaman, and 85 bard, with a t5 merc healer,
(all 85's in full t5 Sod armor with most or all t5 side items)
( this expansion was very kind to non raiders)

Kessedona was the hardest by far, even with a tracker, because the merc ra out of mana and was barely able to keep me alive, we had to kill all the guardians 2 times each , and to kill them u have to dps kessodona even though u will not accomplish any dmg on her,
i wish it wasnt finals weeks the next two weeks so i could try for the 4 relic dragons now that the order has been switched, as it was vish who stopped us

Can't that still be raised by hunting in Kael? Admittedly it's all grey at level 85 but what about this quest makes the loss of CoV faction "permanent?" I'm genuinely curious.

I 4 boxed this with no mercs up to Quarm who i did not bother trying for. 85 monk/shaman/druid/cleric. When you zone into the first instance they place you before all the giants. So you have a bunch of fire giants to go through. The time i did it the king was also up. Killing naggy was easy with this set up. Moving onto lady vox you get put before the first ice giants. This one is also easy as long as you don't fall into any of the pits.

This next one was actually the biggest pain for me. You get placed at Plane of Fear zone in. Just about every mob was up when i checked track. I didn't see cazic-thule but i did see dread and terror. No idea if they would have dropped anything but almost every single mob i had tried to loot in all the zones during this task would only drop cash. There were a few spell drops but nothing above level 65 and i don't recall which dragon they were from.

I had at least 20 adds while i was mucking around in fear. I did this one very poorly and im lucky dread or terror weren't in the area. Im sure there are better solutions then to start tracking and then just go through the zone training what ever you want but anyway i ended up getting every buff dispelled before i was able to kill the dracoliche. I evacted afterwards rather then deal with all the adds.

Baneluk posted about losing CoV faction. Thats indeed true. I was ****** off about that. Its a permanent loss and im sure they could have fixed it so that wouldn't have happened if they really wanted too. I ended up soloing Lord Yelinak with just my cleric since my cleric was already kos.

Vulak`Aerr does not actually summon other dragons during the fight so no worry about that and Phara Dar does not summon any adds either during that fight. This was the first time i had ever fought these dragons. Shamans aa malo and slow got resisted enough times that i didn't bother after a few. These were still relatively easy fights but took a long time for me as my monk was only real dps and they do have a ton of hp. EDIT: I did end up meleeing with my shaman/druid/cleric at some point with Talisman of the Lynx up.

The 4 warders were easy. Every one of these fights was new to me. I enjoyed them very much. It was getting late which is why i didn't try Quarm though i would have liked to. Now that i have gotten as far as i have though im not gonna bother doing it again once i have the time. There was just too many mobs to deal with before getting to kill the dragons. Trakanon's banishing was a pain to deal with too.

Vish does drop eggs, that you have to kill, they wiped my group we did not kill before they spawned added, does anyone know if you have to kite the 4 other mobs in the room that or around the outside of the room like the real event?? We wiped before I have any idea if they go active??

Yes, the four corrupted drakes become active at 50% just like the real event.

You must have the SoD expansion for the raid, we could not get the raid with someone without it in it...Suchandsuch does not have the expansion needed for this shared task (/headache on)

I am not sure about before zoning in, but once Nagy is dead you cannot /taskadd anyone, very rude for someone coming five minutes late.

edit: sorry, I meant SoD expansion. One person on our raid has SoF, but not SoD, and we could not get the raid.

My group killed Kessdona and Yar'Lir. We were pretty burnt out after that one, though, so we didn't even give a swing at Vishimtar.

Note: We are NOT raid-geared.

I would imagine the latest steps of this quest aren't intended for anyone to complete outside of a well-balanced, raid-geared group. However, it's clear that people are indeed making it to the final stage.

The version of Lethar is 2.0, the final one in Ashengate, which includes Selay.

Dragons are found in instanced versions of each zone and are the same as the original. As far as I could tell none of the dragons banish. Many dragons require you to be under their belly to land a spell on them without resist. The zone into each instance is close to the location of each dragon. The group version progresses with the following order and dragons:

1.Lord Nagafen
2.Lady Vox
6.Phara Dar
9.Defeat all four warders of the sleeper 1 2 3 4
11.Kessdona the Enlightened

If you want to progress further than this make sure to bring a tracker. I was unable to beat Kessedona because I had no tracker.

The Augment you receive depends on how many years you have entitled to your account. The power of the aug depends on how many dragons you slay. After slaying Quarm my Model II aug shows 6 ac 78 hp / mana / end

After completing the raid up to Lethar (wiped there), I received a Model V aug. I have 5 years on the account. My aug didn't have any heroic stats on it. Other people with model IV and VI had heroics. Any ideas why there's a difference?

i can confirm that the aug you get is based off of how many years entitled on account and stat on aug is based off of how many dragons killed.. my monk which was started in december 2008 got model I my beast which has 6 years got model VI and killed up to kess (didnt kill kess) on both

forgot to mention the stat on my beasts aug (VI) is 9 ac 94 hp/mana/end 3 to resists and 1 heroic cha and stats on my monks (I) is 63 hp 47 mana/end
