This is a shared task (1-6 players) that begins by handing a "Sealed Message" (dropped by "a Sebilisian messenger") to any of the Ring of Scale dragons in the Field of Scale. The message reads as follows:

You must recapture that sarnak. Failure will not be acceptable.

*The dragons may be interested in an escaped sarnak. You should show this note to one of them.

Note: No other "Sealed Message" will work. Only the one with the above text will work for this task.

Jaled`Dar says 'Well, that's very interesting. We need to locate this escapee before the Iksar do. Track down the escapee quickly and perhaps we can learn something from him.'

You have been assigned the task 'Sarnak Recovery'.

You have been asked to prevent the Iksar from recovering any of their escaped Sarnak slaves. You have also been asked to question some escaped slaves to find out if the Iksar are interested in information that they might have. Get that information, kill the Iksar sent to hunt the Sarnak, and return with your information to Trakanon.

Kill 3 Sebilisian Trackers 0/3 (Field of Scale)

Find the Escaped Sarnak with information 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Fight escaped Sarnaks until you get one to confess. Make sure you don't pet tank this - you may not get the emote if you do. Beat it down to around 20% and then start hailing it with NO DAMAGE until the mob either responds to you and updates task, responds that it won't surrender, or starts to flee. If either of the last two occur, kill it and pull the next mob.

an escaped sarnak oracle says 'Stop hitting me! I'll tell you what you want to know!'

Find the meeting place 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Task Window Says: The Sarnak told you that it heard something interesting just before it escaped. The masters were going to make the fur-men help them fight the dragons. It said that they were planning to speak with one of the fur-men and get them to come out of their holes and fight the dragons. Kill the iksar sent to speak to these fur-men, but don't kill the fur-men. Killing them might give the iksar the alliance they seek anyway.

This is the island in the far northwest (the future home to The Tangrin, if you're familiar with the Field of Bone).

Kill the emissary 0/1 (Field of Scale)

a Sebilisian emissary says 'For Sebilis!'

a Sebilisian emissary has been slain by _____!
a Sebilisian emissary's corpse says 'I die, but the empire shall live forever!'

Speak with Trakanon 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Trakanon was displeased with your results, but he did not devour you. He must like you. The Burynai will not likely accept any deal with the Iksar after the strength you showed them.

Your faction standing with Tynoc, Herald of Scale got better.

    How to avoid task timers

There is a lot of discussion about being locked out, and some people somehow avoided lock outs. How can this be?

Truth is, you can do all three Sarnak Recovery missions back to back. The thing is you have to have the 3 different scrolls. They look identical, even have the same text when read, but there are 3 different ones. The best way I found to do this is keep killing messengers and looting scrolls until you have 3 of the "You must recapture that sarnak" in three separate inventory slots.

None of the scrolls are lore. Identical scrolls will stack; you can't see a number, but if you try to pick it up with a mouse click and a quanity box and slider pops up, you have more than 1 of the same scroll. If you auto inventory scrolls until 3 separate scrolls (unstacked) are in your inventory, then you have the 3 different scrolls. You can then hand in one scroll, do the mission, and leave the mission when it's done; hand in the next scroll to get the next mission, rinse and repeat; hand in the third scroll, rinse and repeat.

The only way you will get a lockout timer is if you hand in the same scroll again (which you can't tell if it's the same unless you do as I suggest and just wait until you've looted the 3 unique scrolls first). This also means you've already done that mission and you don't really need to do it again (unless you are farming faction/chronobines).

Sounds a little confusing perhaps, but it works. Try it. You can do all three back to back if you wait until you've killed enough messengers to be sure you've got all 3 scrolls.

I have been reading all of the posts about this and the other Sarnak Recovery tasks and was concerned as to how our group was going to be able to ever finish the main quest.

Our group (85 magician (me) with cleric merc, 85 magician boxing an 85 cleric (with tank merc) and an 85 enchanter) get together nightly for a 3.5 to 4 hour adventuring session.

The 4.5 lockout between missions mentioned in all of the posts seemed to be the biggest problem. The part where it said that all missions had to be completed within 24 hours had us worried too as that was the interval between our adventuring sessions.

We had already completed Sarnak Recovery (Kurn) some time ago. A while back, we attempted to get the next task in the series and got Kurn again (that's when we started reading the forums and got the alarming news about lockout timers and the 24 hour requirement).

Since we were also a little light in the tanking department (the posts specifically said not to pet tank and the tank merc was not someone in the task), we decided to try one to see if we could use our cleric (she wears plate armor, right?) to tank the Sarnak to submission.

The first surprise was when I gave the scroll to Talendor and we got Sarnak Recovery (Burynai). What! No repeat of Kurn? That's great! The cleric tanked the Sarnak to 20% and we got the update on the first try.

Next, off to the island for the location update and we found the emissary. We sent in our two air pets where he stood and our merc tank followed. The enchanter mezzed the guardian and the two Burynai did nothing. Emissary went down to a barrage of nukes in no time. The enchanter mem-blurred the guardian and we were done.

We went back to the dragons and got our second surprise. Talendor did not want my next scroll. There was nothing said about a timer, he just didn't want it. So I took it to Gorenaire. He took it and gave us Sarnak Recovery (Kurn). Again, no mention of a lockout. Since we had completed that one, we quit it and went to Phara Dar. Phara Dar accepted the scroll and gave us Sarnak Recovery (Sokokar).

The cleric tanked the Sarnak again. This time, we got the update on the second attempt. Then off to the hatchery to kill the 4 hatchlings, and done.

I'm guessing there have been some changes made since the other posts were made.

Was only one guardian when I arrived, both him an emissary were already up.
Both guardian and emissary are snareable.
emissary is a necro mob and doesn't summon, not sure about the guardian.
The Burynai didn't aggro with them.

Not sure this is the way to get it but how i got this task. After doing sokokar one about 25 or 30 times and kurn one about 3 times i think i figured out that u have to do all 3 of them in order within a 24 hr time period. I turned in the same message for all 3 task one that says something about a sarnak think. Now im not totally sure this is how it works as i have been told by others they got it on random all i know is every time i do all the turns in within a 24 hr period i can get this task now. Ok u have about a 5 hr lock out timers so do task wait ur lock out time do another wait do last one should work. Another thing even thos it says unlimited i have been kick out of task after a ceartian time not sure on this time limit cause i was in bed when it happened. Hope this helps u out and if anyone finds anothe way to get it easier plz post as i will be doing all these again for my other 9 alts on 5 accounts.

The Sarnak Recovery tasks have a lockout timer of +4 1/2 hours. Not sure on exact time, since I didn't attempt a second task until after a med break.

Upon success of 1st task, I attempted a turn in of a second sealed message, I received this tell: "You may not request this shared task because you must wait 0d:4h:33m before you can do another task of this type."

    Pet/merc tank problem

I think I've figured out (after much aggravation) the problem with the pet/merc tank. It seems that the individual tanking the sarnaks MUST be in the task.

I don't know what specifically qualifies "tanking the mob" as far as the task is concerned, since my pet would tank from 100%, and my girlfriend's Shaman would tank from 30% to 0%, and the sarnak would run away every time with no emote or update. This was done both with and without spamming hails at the sarnaks.

We added an SK to tank, but neglected to add her to the task and had the exact same effect - she tanked from 100% to 0% with no task update or emote, hails or no. Once in the task, we got the update with no hails.

I killed many of the "escaped mobs". However, I can not get them to talk at all. I was first trying Merc tank and setting him to passive at 20(ish)%. Then I tryed Necro kiting with and without pet. Can u have Necro Snare DoT on these? Can anyone help?

Just FYI for any necros.. I was having problems (or bad luck) using pet to kite these around, I could never find mob to talk to me.. I called pet off and 2 pulls later I was able to find one that would 'talk' to me and update task. But I was able to kite with damage dot's including damage producing Darkness.
I dont know if pulling pet off did any good or not.

I was able to pull the emissary away from the two burynai creatures just fine, but the other ikky came with the emissary no matter how far apart I split them before re-tagging the emissary.

However, I could tag the other ikky and run far enough away that the emissary lost interest, but was able to bring the other ikky to camp to kill. After it was dead, ran back to emissary and pulled single no problem.

    1. Make sure you don't pet tank this - you won't get the emotes right with you do. This is similar to the bug that was occuring in a Library task, but they didn't fix the FOS mobs when they fixed that.
    2. To get the emote, you beat it down to around 20% and then start hailing with NO DAMAGE until the mob either responds to you and updates task, responds that it won't surrender, or starts to flee. If either of the last two occur kill it and pull the next mob.
