This is the third raid in the Field of Scale theme (the first being Kaesora Library's "A Council Divided"; the second being "Claiming Felbane the Dragonslayer" in Kurn's Stronghold).

It is a task which begins with Jaled`Dar in the Field of Scale.

You say, 'Hail, Jaled`Dar'

Jaled`Dar says 'Why do you bother me small one? I have enough [problems] to deal with here without your intrusions. There is a scent on the air. Now is the time for those with great strength and willing to take [great risk] to [strike]!'

You say, 'We are willing to strike'

Jaled`Dar says 'This war nears its end, but to achieve that end, we must take [great risk]. If you and your companions, a veritable army of your own, can dare another [bold assault], we may yet win this. There is a scent on the air. It is nearly time to [finish this].'

You say, 'Let's finish this'

Jaled`Dar says 'You are tiny, but valiant. You have proven yourself worthy, and perhaps essential, to this struggle. The moment draws near for the final confrontation. Will you [aid] us in this last final battle?'

You have been assigned the task 'Field of Scale - Final Confrontation'.

The final confrontation between the Ring of Scale and Discord-assisted iksar is at hand. The timeline must be restored, and that means that Emperor Ganak cannot be allowed to triumph over Jaled`Dar, and all of the dragon generals must survive the encounter, as history has already decided. Protect the dragons and restore the timeline for the salvation of Norrath!

Task Steps

Speak with Jaled`Dar when you are ready to defend the Ring of Scale 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Tell him you'll "aid" him to zone into the instance.

You say, 'I will aid you'

Jaled`Dar says 'You prove yourself, yet again, _____. When you are ready, speak with me, and we will finish the task that brought us to this field of scale.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Field of Scale.

You enter an instanced version of the Field of Scale. The dragons are in the same locations as the non-instanced zone. The event is triggered by speaking with Jaled`Dar.

Do not hail Jaled`Dar until you are ready to begin.

Speak with Jaled`Dar again and be prepared for battle! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Jaled`Dar roars to the sky. 'The hour is at hand!'

These task steps open up one by one (see details below):

Protect Trakanon! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Protect Jaled`Dar! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Protect Severilous! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Protect Phara Dar! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Protect Gorenaire! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Protect Talendor! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

Defend the wounded Jaled`Dar! 0/1 (Field of Scale)

In Summary

One by one, you'll have to defend each dragon from groups of iksar. Each iksar group consists of a captain and 16 iksar (a mix of regular mobs and "augmented" mobs). The "augmented" iksar are the strongest (wielding Discord weapons) and should always be taken out first.

The first wave has only a few augmented mobs. The second wave has a few more. The third a little more, and so on (you'll have to deal with more augmented mobs the further in the task you get.).

In total, six groups of iksar must be taken out (one group of iksar for each dragon). In addition, you'll have to fight an undead dragon during the Phara Dar wave. Once the sixth group is dead, you must engage Emperor Ganak and prevent him from defeating a wounded Jaled`Dar. Do this, and you win.

The Encounters

Set up your raid force by Trakanon. He'll be the first dragon to defend. When ready, hail Jaled`Dar and wait for the first group of iksar to arrive (they march in from the Kurn's Tower area).

The Ring of Scale mobs (including the dragons themselves) will help you. Be careful about using AE spells as they will turn on you if they are provoked.

Augmented iksar hit for a max ~5,500 and AE rampage (they do not enrage; do not rampage; do not flurry). The captains also AE rampage. All of the Sebilisian forces summon from 100% health. The non-augmented iksar are on par with regular trash mobs in terms of difficulty. Shortly after you've killed the augmented iksar, the dragon in question will emote...

Trakanon breaths out a powerful magical blast of destruction and then roars in triumph having slain the sortie!

...and kill off any remaining iksar adds...

Iksar Sortie Crusader died.
Iksar Sortie Hunter died.
Iksar Sortie Hunter died.
Iksar Sortie Soldier died.
Iksar Sortie Soldier died.
Iksar Sortie Soldier died.
Iksar Sortie Soldier died.

...completing the task step for that dragon.

Repeat this process for each of the six dragons in the order the above task steps are listed.

Now, you must engage Emperor Ganak. He hits for a max ~12,000; single-target rampages; AE rampages; and flurries. He casts a few spells (called what?): One is an AE knockback with a 10k DD (what other spells?).

Some of his emotes:

Emperor Ganak says 'Burn!'

Emperor Ganak calls upon a spirit of decay.
Emperor Ganak smiles slowly. 'Prepare to experience the wrath of a true wizard! Death will find you, soon enough!'

Task Progression

The iksar army attacks are time-based. Meaning, the task will progress regardless of whether you've killed off the previous group of attacking iksar. So, you must make haste in killing off the augmented iksar or you (and the dragons) will become overwhelmed and lose.

Listed here are the emotes you'll see throughout the event. The times in brackets are formatted as (minutes:seconds) and are based off the point at which you originally hailed Jaled`Dar to initiate the battle.

(0:00) Jaled`Dar roars to the sky. 'The hour is at hand!'

(0:15) Jaled'Dar shouts, 'Come, little lizards! I grow bored waiting for you as you cower before us! Show yourselves!'

(0:20) Emperor Ganak shouts, 'Your impatience and your arrogance will be your doom, beast! Marvel at the surprises I have prepared for you!'

(0:25) Trakanon shouts, 'Jaled'Dar, my scouts report a force massing to the north!'

(Trakanon needs to be defended.)

(3:20) Emperor Ganak shouts, 'We will grind you to dust for daring to oppose our will! And when we have disposed of you we will conquer all of Kunark, and all of Norrath beyond it!'

(3:20) Jaled'Dar looks to the south and discerns a force of Iksar forming to attack. Several Iksar soldiers hold the unmistakable and sinister dragon bane weapons the whole host of dragons fear.

(Jaled`Dar needs to be defended.)

(6:40) Severilous has been warned of a force to the north that is on the march!

(Severilous needs to be defended.)

(8:20) In the distance Jaled'Dar spies his hated foe, the Emperor Ganak approaching on the back of a sokokar mount. With a roar of rage the mighty wyrm rises into the air to attack!

(High above the Field of Scale, Jaled`Dar gives chase to Emperor Ganak. You don't need to worry about them, yet.)

(10:00) Phara Dar roars in challenge as the unmistakable plume of dust begins to form under the feet of the marching Iksar force, heading towards her.

(Phara needs to be defended. NOTE: For this wave, you'll encounter an undead dragon which charges in from the south - this is in addition to the iksar forces.)

(12:00) Gorenaire prepares for the arrival of the force marching slowly towards her.

(Gorenaire needs to be defended.)

(14:00) The mighty red dragon Talendor waits silently, preparing to unleash his famous fury on the puny iksar marching towards him.

(Talendor needs to be defended.)

Some time after successfully protecting Talendor, the final step of the task "Defend the wounded Jaled`Dar" opens up and Emperor Ganak goes live. (Is this also time-based, or does it always happen after Talendor's task update?)

As Emperor Ganak reaches 15% (refer to previous section for mob/fight details):

Jaled`Dar heaves to his feet, nearly destroyed by the battle in the sky. Emperor Ganak's Discord enhanced magic have torn through the dense hide and powerful magic of this powerful wyrm. Jaled`Dar still somehow manages to scream a single word of pure hate at Ganak. 'Die!'

Emperor Ganak laughs maniacally. 'Do you think you are powerful, you fools? Excellent! I will use your power against you! Die!'
Your task 'Field of Scale - Final Confrontation' has been updated.

Everyone gets teleported out of the zone:

Some time back, a change was made removing the 12-players-minimum-in-zone required to open the loot chest.
Quote:
Game Update Notes: November 6, 2013
- Field of Scale - Final Confrontation (normal and hard version) - This chest no longer requires 12 people to be in the zone to open if Veil of Alaris has been open on the server for at least one month.
This used to be soloable

This raid, like rallos returns, was soloable for a long time until the end of 2009. The exploits were fixed so it is no longer possible. However, I'm going to post the details about how this raid was soloable for those who are curious. I stress again that the following no longer works, so don't waste your time trying.

First some quick info for those who've never done this raid before. the dragon army in this raid will immediately memory wipe and port to their bind spot the moment that they are aggroed by a player. There are not enough dragon faction mobs around a dragon to defeat the iksar waves without intervention (well actually the first wave, trakanon, can sometimes win without help, but it's the easiest wave of them all). Combine this with the memory wipe/gate mechanic I already mentioned and it seems like it's impossible to train the dragon npcs around.

one problem the developer didn't consider... the dragon trash mobs are not rooted and they attack NPC iksars without any problems. nothing summoned either (they do summon now at 100% hp)

you know how in the uninstanced version of field of scale there are tons of iksar npcs wandering around? they still all exist in the raid version of this zone even though they are not involved in the event, so there are lots of iksar mobs around.

so what you needed to do was generate a lot of agro on 1 non casting base population iksar npc. this is actually harder than it sounds since you need to do it from a distance, and you need to hold agro in the event that the npc you are training gets hit by a dragon faction npc who can very easily steal agro. I used a warrior to do it.

you really only needed 1 npc to train, but I would use a group of npcs so I could switch to another quickly. You need to be quick because you are still on a time limit in this event.

so with your 1 iksar mob train, run around the dragon armies and get just close enough for the dragon faction mobs to start chasing on the iksar you are kiting. do this until you have a seriously large train of dragon mobs following your iksar. this is much more difficult than I am describing and takes a lot of practice to master.

once you have your train you need to run over to the waves of iksar npcs that spawn (order: trakanon, jaled dar, sev, phara dar, gorenaire, talendor). let your iksar get killed and watch your massive train of dragon faction mobs destroy the iksars in seconds.

after EVERY task update you need to repeat the process of grabbing a new iksar to train, building agro, rebuilding your train, and getting it to the next dragon. It gets harder each time since you have less time with each wave.

once you got the talendor update you've already won. Ganak spawns and there is a rediculously easy way to kill him, so easy I refuse to believe guilds were not exploiting this from day one.

train ganak on any dragon. the dragons are UNKILLABLE. the way they die during the actual event is from the dragon bane npcs, but those npcs dont actually hurt the dragons, they just wack of them long enough to trigger a script that fails the event. the actual dragon npcs cannot be killed (full hp regen every 6 seconds) and ganak does not hold a dragon bane weapon.

as soon as ganak is on a dragon he will eventually lose. The dragons hit for 12k so they agro lock him over any other npc. he has a ton of hp (more than rallos in rallos returns by far) so you can make one last train to add to the dps.

drop the task before ganak dies (make sure there are still 6 people in the task, but not in the instance) and the lock out timer gets bypassed. repeat as many times as you'd like lock out free.

the easy mode was only worth doing for the sokokar mount (I have 1 on every character now), but the hard mode could drop any korafax or tyranot raid loot (except weapons). the mount does not drop on hard mode.

So this required a lot more skill than rallos returns, but it was doable, and it was awesome.

WHAT WAS CHANGED (ie, how the raid functions today)
-all the base population iksar mobs summon at 100% hp. this alone makes it impossible to build up a train.
-opening the chest now wins the raid, creating the lock out
-12 people must be in the zone to open the chest
-I believe ganak can trigger a raid failure if he is attacking a dragon, but im not 100% sure on that since I never did this raid again after the nerfs. ganak has so much hp that without him beating on the unkillable dragons he could easily kill all the trash mobs in the zone by himself without dying.

Anyone know how to get back to the raid when you die on the last encounter? The raid gets teleported out, but if you are dead, you seem to have no way to get to where the chest is for loots.

you'd have to Respawn, then run back to Jaled`Dar and in by saying 'aid'. alternatively if some rezzer/caller doesn't want loot they can drop task and wait to be booted - this still drops them in the instanced fos where all the Augmented iksar were.
3 armor pieces
