This task begins with Noble Ramel the Strategist in the Old Bloodfields (he is located in one of the rooms near the entrance to the City of Dranik).

You say, 'Hail, Noble Ramel the Strategist'

Noble Ramel the Strategist says 'Good to see you soldier! I've been hearing good things about you. It might be time to give you some of the more [critical missions] in our efforts.'

    You say, 'Critical missions?'

Noble Ramel the Strategist says 'Unknown to many, we have a rather decent spy network in place in the muramite forces. Through this network we have learned of an upcoming troop movement that we believe we can interrupt and thereby weaken the forces attacking our remaining strongholds. Would you be [interested] in working with us on this?'

    You say, 'I'm interested'

Noble Ramel the Strategist says 'I thought you would be. This troop I speak of contains both reinforcements and a shipment of critical supplies. They are gathering as we speak in the fortress protecting the muramite portal to the south. Since the troop is rather large, I will place two squads of our soldiers at your disposal. Simply place the rally flags where you would like them to deploy and they will do what they can to help you. You'll want to gather a few friends as well. Even with our support the enemy may prove to be too much without them.'

    Receive Dragorn Rally Flag.

You have been assigned the task 'Supply Interruption'.

Noble Ramel has learned of a troop of reinforcements and supplies will be dispatched from the fortress protecting the muramite's portal. He has placed two squads of dragorn soldiers at your command and has tasked you with destroying the enemy troop before they can join with the rest of the muramite forces.

    1. Make your way to the gates protecting the portal 0/1 (Old Bloodfields)

      Your Location is -744.20, 358.28, 223.43

This is in front of the gates in the south wall, just west of the ridge.

    2. Place the rallying flags 0/2 (Old Bloodfields)

Each click of the Dragorn Rally Flag you receive when you requested the task, will cause a banner and four Dragorns to appear. The dragorns have huge dps and will assist you.

      Each flag has:

      1 x a dragorn adjunct - level 85
      3 x a dragorn soldier - yellow at 85

    3. Destroy the troop and supplies 0/1 (Old Bloodfields)

There are three waves of mobs, consisting of a mix of muramite models. More mobs in each wave, didn't get a count sorry. They all spawn in the gateway.

The third wave includes the named mob: Commander Vthallyx.

All of the mobs are rootable/snareable apart from named.

According to someone who had done the fight before, to win you must kill all three waves and on third wave Commander Vthallyx must die last. Or so we were told, didn't actually manage to win. He also said that if you die and rez you fail. And that Commander Vthallyx was mezzable.

    4. Return to Noble Ramel and inform him of your success. 0/1 (Old Bloodfields)

You say, 'Hail, Noble Ramel the Strategist'

Your task 'Supply Interruption' has been updated.
The destruction of these supplies and reinforcements should help take the pressure off the dragorn defenders for a while. They should be able to make use of the time you have bought them.

We did this today with 85s and mercs. Our pally was the flag planter. He died instantly from the 8 mobs that spawned. So either this event has changed or it was never true that the flag planter "can't die."

I just attempted this. Set the flags and a few seconds later I saw a wave pop up in my Extended Targets window, then they disappeared (no mobs at door). Then another wave, same thing. Then the third wave, they all popped at once and bum rushed me. So, if you try this and see the wave pop up then vanish...run!

Did it today with a 100 Necro, Pet & J5 Cleric Merc....easy peasy....planted the banners along the wall of the entrance way on eastside....i sat out of the edge by wall a bit further south....as the waves popped, grabed the first one which agro'd them all to me....the freebee dragons pulled looked to summon them one at a time, while my pet worked through the crowd and I tossed out high dmg dot spells...when the named appeared on the 3rd wave, just loaded it up and FD'd....done deal.

There are a lot of myths posted here so lets clear some things up.

It is TRUE that the flag holder cannot die.
It DOES NOT matter which order anything dies.
It CAN be kited and won with 1 person if you are careful and a little lucky.

The key when trying to solo is that you cannot let any of your dragorns die on the first two waves and ideally your named is one of the last mobs up, otherwise he will take a few dragorn with him and could cost you finishing.

If all your dragorns are dead, you CAN win. So long as the flag holder does not die and all the 3 waves DO die.

Lots of useful tips here, thanks. I was finally able to do succeed with. Here is what I learned:
    - Any class can do this at 95. I am a rogue but in the end I pulled this off without using any class skill at all.
    - All you need to kite is run speed 5. I have no snare, stun, root, whatever, or special speed enhancement for myself.
    - Bring less. I don't think any additional player will make this easier.
    - Park your healer merc further down the ramp (set yourself as puller). Do not let if follow you during the kiting, it will only get killed.
    - If necessary run to your healer merc while the last mob of a wave is killed by the dragorns. Let is heal you and run back up.
    - Place the Dragorn rallying flags at the location update point from step 1. Place them very close to each other, they are far more powerful as a group of 8 than as two groups of 4.
    - Grab every waves attention when they spawn and kite them in big circles around the dragorns.
    - Win.

Completed this last night: 95 Wiz (me), 95 Nec, 95 Pal, 2 J5 cleric mercs, 1 J1 Wiz merc. Took three tries. I give credit to those of you who managed to do this at lower levels or solo/molo. This was a real challenge for us, maybe because we tried just to tank and spank it rather than kiting mobs away.

Anyway, the mobs spawn at the gate and as best I can tell charge towards the person who planted the flags. On our first attempt, I planted the flag and got killed pretty quickly. I was bound in the zone so was only in the 'dead' state for a few seconds, but as others have noted it does seem that if the flag planter gets killed, you will not get an update for the task.

Attempt number two I'm not sure what happened; both clerics and the necro went down almost immediately, so I evac'd.

Attempt number three, I asked the Pal to get the quest and plant the flag, that way whatever mobs did charge the flag-planter were going for our tank anyway. I also did a full burn (w/silent casting, twincast, etc.) from the start of the first wave of mobs so we could kill as many as possible right away. There seems to be very little time between waves; not nearly enough for us to kill all the mobs in one wave before the next spawned. The Pal grabbed the named as soon as he could; he was definitely not the last kill and we still got the update.

    So to review:

    1. Flag planter cannot die.
    2. Named does not have to die last.
    3. You can get an update even if you are not the flag planter, as long as you are on the right step.
    4. The dragorns do not need to survive.

This was by far the hardest mission in the Dark Soul Crystal quest arc. This one and "Deliver the Message" are so out of line difficulty-wise with the rest of the quest that you should really make sure you can complete those two before putting much more time into the full arc.

When I first tried this, I misunderstood where the waves would spawn and screwed up horribly. I removed the quest and watched as the waves spawned anyways, and just basically sat there at the gates in a rather tight formation. Here is my question:

<<Is it possible to win by just killing all of those mobs, without any regards to the dragorn helpers you spawn?>>

I understand they make things much easier, but I couldn't help wondering, while watching those mobs spawn and sit at the gate, whether I couldn't just take the time to pull them (a tedious task, no doubt) to group until I was done with them all. In particular, is their a time limit?

90 pal and 92 nec completed this today. We set the flags up to the left side of the doors (when you are looking at them). Mobs spawned after a few seconds. When I (paladin) saw that I had agro on a few mobs I started to run down the hill and kite them around. Some mobs were still at the door . When I got close enough they agroed me and I ran what looked like 10 mobs around and down the hill. Neco had to FD when mobs spawned so I got agro, once I got full agro he pulled from the train of mobs following me. Dragons had a hard time "summoning" the mobs like the guide said they would so necro pulled and FD. Used horse for speed and was no problem. Had enough time to turn around and check to see what all was following me.

Dragons have a lot of dps and were more powerful than expected. Necro pulled up to 3 to the dragons.

Been trying to do this task for several nights now. Nearly had it beat tonight, I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. Either the task is timed, or emliyx getting into my kite somehow and accidentally being trained into the dragorn ( they killed her fine), by the time I finally got down to the last three mobs, the dragorn despawned, the banners went away and the task just vanished from the task list of all three group members.

Was able to duo this with 87 ranger with healer merc
When you get to the gate kill the kyv at the top before you place the flags. After, I put both the flags on the left side (facing the gate)and really close together. Then I ran down the hill a decent distance from the gate where the mobs spawn and chase you.I then used Spell:Vinelash Cascade Rk.II level 73 ranger and druid spell to keep the mobs ae rooted and me safe from harm. The dragons then proceeded to summon the mobs 1 by 1 killing them off very quickly. I also used Spell:Flusterbolt lvl 85 ranger spell to push mobs that roots broke and were too far from the dragon's agro range. Namer in the last spawn was not rootable so I used the ranger epic to slow him and finished him off while spaming vinelash to the other mobs. The dragons finished off trash for an easy win. Safety note: 1.)make sure the flags are put to the left of the gate, the right has a drop off and may make mobs path randomly. 2.)The other reason you do this is because you want to face the right, as to not agro the dragons with ae root. 3.)Try not to cast big agroing spells, I'm not quite sure which mobs summon So get you a ae root class with similar spell and back up for the namer and should be ok. Hope this helps, I was able to finsih in about 10 from start to finsih.

I just soloed this with my 85 shaman. He kited all the muramites around the dragorn and occasionally (when the dragorn were ready) pathed one or two muramites to the dragorn army. Won it in about 15 minutes.

Thank you Kyer for your post - I thought I would add a bit more

Strategy for this task can be tricky and everyone in the group should be made aware of the strategy before beginning. The only person that MUST have a new quest for this task is the kiter - everyone else in the group can be using an old / failed quest if they wish.

  • Kill the static mob outside of the gates on the hill just prior to planting of the flag.

  • Buff up your puller as much as possible.
  • Good idea to have HOTs on your puller.
  • Your kiter needs to be able to take some hits - being a plate class is almost a must
  • Your task activator must be your kiter - the one that plant’s the second flag
  • THE KITER CANNOT DIE - THE KITER CANNOT DIE - THE KITER CANNOT DIE

  • oh did I say the kiter cannot die?
  • The named mob does NOT have to be killed last
  • Plant the flags off center so when the waves of mobs rush the kiter (task activator) they do not run over the dragorns and wipe them in the first 15 seconds.

  • Feel free to give the dragorns a rest if they are not summoning mobs off the kiter if that is an option. They will heal or regenerate themselves.

  • The second the 2nd flag is dropped by the kiter - Remove the kiter from the group immediately. Everyone will have the updates for planting of the flags so in order to avoid agro - you toss them out of the group and wish them luck. Have a healer keep an eye on the puller. You will also want to have a spotter. The duties of the spotter is to let the kiter know when to come close (but not run over) the double plated flags. The dragorns will summon 1 or 2 mobs at a time and do all the work for you. Occasionally if you think there is a need to help engage, but DO NOT use AE spells or strikes, that would be bad. Be careful who you have on target if you are going to assist the dragorns.

Once you realize you have it beaten, invite the kiter back into the group BEFORE the last mob is dead. The kiter is the one that all updates are based on, if you fail to invite him back into the group - only the kiter will get the update. Oops.

Kiting is not a science, it an art. A wrong nudge, or turn or stutter or lag spike and this mission can go from smooth to failure in seconds. Just have the kiter drop the task and have it re-issued.

That hill in the area is long and mobless for a reason - the kiter should use it. Completing this quest using voice communications is probably the best option. Best of luck and hopefully you complete it in the first attempt.

The group make up did not seem to matter much other than our kiter who had the SK Abyssal Stead. Our experiences told us that if we got past the 1st wave of mobs we would complete it, the SK activated their level 50 harm shield that protected them for 18 seconds allowing them a suitable amount of time to get into the grove of the kite path.

This was cake just as I mentioned in my post at level 85. Kiting isn't an art. It's simply a matter of execution...plain and simple. If you know what you are doing...you win. If not...you die...period. Anyone that knows how to kite wins this although nowadays at lvl 95 it doesn't really matter.

Task Myth #1, "Commander Vthallyx" Has to die last to get the task win. Not true-, On the final wave he actually died 1st.

If the person doing the kiting dies. Everyone leave task and get a new one. The Flag planter cannot die.

If your not a Bard and using Selos have a Person with a fast Mount do the kiting. The Kyv's are fast.

Bring some healing Pots, I brought 5 but only used 3 while kiting. Mobs warping~ Hit here and there etc etc.

Have everyone in grp who needs the task to request it from Noble Ramel. Hes by the CoD zone in OBF.

Have everyone run up to the gates and get the First update. Also while there have everyone kill the One mob on the plateau. It is a " Kyv"~ This will help when kiting the task pops and gives your Dragorns one less mob to kill.

Have everyone in group run back to Noble Ramel and wait. Reason for this? The task pops have an long aggro range. I actually placed the grp near Emlyxi at the base of the hill. The task mobs ran down the hill at times to get to the group. Serious pita when kiting.

Once everyone is back at Noble~ Plant your flags as far away from the gate as you can and close to each other.

15 Seconds later your mobs will spawn. Stand behind the Dragorns but slightly to the side. The mobs will come to you but as they pass the Dragorns they will summon afew and kill them. Kite the rest and bring a couple near the Dragorns till they kill off the wave. As a Bard i would mezz some while kiting and Bring them to the Dragorns when they were rdy.

Do this for the next few waves till you win =) I had 5 Dragorns left doing it like this.

Your grp will get all the updates and since they are already at the Noble~ Everyone does their Hail ftw~. Run back and get yours

    Good luck.

Get the loc update and plant banners as stated a bit out from the gate. Be on your mount and behind the dragons. Once the first wave pops, just kite em around unsnared in vicinity of the dragorns. Watch when getting near the gate though for the ikkav casters and next wave pops. On the 3rd wave, the dragorns will kill the namer but he will take most of them down also. Once all the dragorns were dead, so was the named and all the mobs except 1 ukun. Luckily, wasn't a summoning mob so killed that and hailed ftw.

All the mobs except the named are snareable and rootable. Have a ranger vinelash them at the beginning then just take them as it breaks to the dragorns. Rinse/Repeat for wave 2. On wave three, vinelash all of them, let the dragorns kill the named, then same as before. After all are dead you will get the update. This IS a group task, that is everyone will get the update even though they are sitting on the hill, invis.

    This task is duoable.

I almost solo'd it as an 85 warrior with my merc on passive, except for one heal between waves on reactive.

This task would be soloable if the darned dragorns didn't aggro the named before it took care of the rest of them. I came up 1 mob short and 1% of the named short.

    Strat on this is:

Plant both banners, one on top of each other, just in front of entrance.

Stand behind the dragorns regiments, so that the waves have to pass through the dragorns to get to you.

When mobs spawn, the dragorns will pick off the mobs that they can handle, one to 3 at a time. Kite around in a circle, passing within aggro range each lap of the dragorns. When their mobs die, they will summon next set as the mobs near.

On 3rd wave, have someone else pull away the named, commander vitrik (sp?), and kite away from dragorns. Take care of this wave same as previous waves until commander only is left.

Pull in Vitrik and either 1.) Help tank with your merc, so he doesn't eat through dragorns so fast, or 2.) caster-dps from a distance and help dragorns kill him.

    end of task.
    How I finaly beat this
    # Mar 24 2009 at 9:30 AM Rating: Decent
I had a crazy time trying to do this died 30_ time lost 14% exp but I got it. and did it 2 different ways.

NOTE+++ this can be done as a group. This was done with a necro setting the banner
    plan A
All parties must get their own quest.
proceed to the PoWar zone. all must aproach to get update for scouting the area.
Next Only the planter should be near the PoWar zone. All others can get updates from the jill to the north, make sure your invis as to not get agro.
Once necro plants the banner he needs to run north to about where the Emy camp would set up. but be up on the hill so you can see your banners and good guys.
The necro can then Stand and FD to get mobs to the good guys. no more then one or 2 at a time. make sure you give the good guys time in between to regen HP.
keep doing this until they have killed everything.

Plan B is a little more involveed but this way I could park a toon near the banners to watch the good guys and paths of the bad guys.

Same as before all get task all go get first update.
Here is where it gets fun. as soon as the necro plants the banner you have about 15 seconds to disband the necro and all get invised. this gets you the update and gets you off the kill list. at which point you group can aid the necro by being able to watch the health of good guys and by telling the necro when to FD and Stand.
Try to make the Named the last pull. but if not one of the last. when down to the named invite necro back into group as the named (last mob) is being killed and all group will get update. ( I did this with the named being second to last and then having to kite around the other mob until the good guys killed the named and pulled the mob off me) then all group members must go hail to get last update.

    Good luck.
