This is a shared task which begins with Talendor (/loc?) in the Field of Scale.

    You say, 'Hail, Talendor'

Talendor says 'Hello. I wonder what brings such as you to a place like this. Surely you were not asked here by the Ring of Scale. This is a [battle] that we must undertake ourselves. You may, I suppose, be an agent of the Iksar, though that seems [unlikely].'

    You say, 'What battle?'

Talendor says 'War would be more appropriate. Typical of its type, I suppose. Incident leads to reciprocation, leading to escalation and eventually spinning out of control. We won't be done with this until the Iksar have been taught a [severe lesson]. It is unwise to challenge the Ring of Scale. We are the mightiest creatures in the lands and none can withstand our might. Numbers and, well, [reusability], are the only thing that has kept these creatures in the fight this long.'

    You say, 'A severe lesson?'

Talendor says 'I doubt that anything less than near destruction will end their aggression and foolish dreams of empire. So we shall deliver that destruction. For now there is a lull, but soon enough our wrath shall bring down their wall and their meager, mortal empire.'

    You say, 'Reusability?'

Talendor says 'They recover the multitudes of their corpses after our battles and drag them away. Their necromancers animate their bones and return them to the field. I find it amusing that they seem to fight better once they are dead than when they were living.'

You say, 'I'm unlikely to be an Iksar agent...'

Talendor says 'Likely or not, perhaps you can do something for me. If you fail, or if you are indeed a servant to the Iksar, no matter. But perhaps you will actually succeed. I have in mind a bit of sabotage. Nothing violent, though unless you are an enemy agent you will likely have to kill a few Iksar to accomplish the task. You see, the Iksar keep their eggs in a hatchery. The hatchery serves all Iksar of any importance. Royalty, favored merchants, war heroes and even some favored servants. They seem to think that a faithful and functional servant will breed those qualities true. All of these eggs need careful tending and careful book keeping to ensure that a royal egg remains a royal egg and that a servant is not given care of a young royal after hatching. This has given me a mind to introduce some [havoc] to their careful organization.'

    You say, 'Some havoc?'

Talendor says 'It's a simple enough plan. Shuffle their papers. Swap their eggs. Even if the actual changes you make are small, the confusion and panic over the possible repercussions will certainly vex and disturb all of Sebilis. This is a goal worth achieving, and it has an added amusement value attached. [Will] you do this?'

    You say, 'I will'

Talendor says 'Perhaps we shall meet again.'

You have been assigned the task 'Havoc in the Hatchery'.

Talendor, with a wicked gleam in his eye, asked you to get into the Kaesora hatchery and create trouble for the Iksar. But he did not ask you to destroy their eggs. His request was a bit more sinister and, perhaps, childish. He has asked you to disrupt the organization of their hatchery. Each egg has a carefully tracked history. Each egg is placed in a location and that location is tracked by the broodkeepers. The Iksar royalty fear the possibility that their young might end up with lesser parents, and a simple bit of egg swapping and document swapping could cause endless disruption and doubt in the minds of many Iksar.

  • Loot 6 Sebilisian Legacy 0/6 (Hatchery Wing)

These are known to drop frequently from "an imperial broodkeeper" in the hatchery.

  • Move some eggs around in the hatchery 0/6 (Hatchery Wing)

Clear out the rooms and click on eggs until you see:

You successfully swap a few eggs.

Your task 'Havoc in the Hatchery' has been updated.

  • Shuffle the papers into the book of records while in the records hall 0/1 (Hatchery Wing)

At 25.34, 318.62, -125.55, there is a Legacy Log. Pick it up and combine the Sebilisian Legacies in it. The combine MUST be done in the hall of records. The container filled with pages disappears, presumably back into the shelves, and the task updates.

  • Report your success to Talendor. 0/1 (Field of Scale)

It's actually a smidge rare that one of the eggs will disappear when you click it...so you have to clear multiple rooms and click all of the eggs.

FYI, in the very back of the zone from the zone in there are 3 large rooms, but there are several rooms with a smaller amount of eggs on the sides. Any of those can be clickable.

Done in less than an hour with my box group of 94 chanter, 86 cleric+J3 Merc, 82 SK and 80 Rogue.

task only afforded me 5 hrs I think ?? Someone in a post 10yrs ago said 24hrs .. got 4/6 eggs moved and all 6 scrolls.. logged (all the way out) out .. logged back in ONLY 2hrs later and task was gone.. bug or that correct.. ?? Reply if u can thanks ..footnote...after clearing a egg room, moved egg waited for mob re-pop.. cleared entire room again but couldn’t move any eggs.. went to a different room and cleared and I was able to move egg.. wonder if u need to do this per room with eggs.. or is it randomness??

Answered my questions. ...YES it’s a 5hr timed event .... if u log your done .. but u can STILL use scrolls (they don’t poof) to put in book.. but I still had to loot a new set of 6 scrolls anyway .....FYI Book(s) are NOT on desks! THEY ARE 2 long bars tables behind desks..... also confirmed that u DONT need to kill all mobs in room to move eggs .. just the ones on the same side as eggs .. like other poster said just stand back and click eggs ..eventually You get emote “u can’t reach this” .. I went to top, tons of eggs and yes they are movable , but . way to hard .. the rooms on left and right side (down) as u zone in are the EZ rooms to do this .. if room doesn’t have movable eggs just kill all in room next re-pop u should have movable eggs....
    You can fail the combine...

"The container filled with pages disappears, presumably back into the shelves, and the task updates." I failed the combine but receive recovery messages (max recovery aa's). The task still updates though and the next step opens.

"You failed the combine, but you managed to recover ***"
"You failed the combine, but you managed to recover Legacy Log."

I'm now done with every quest in the illusion arc except Parley with Ganek, and this has to be the most annoying of them all.

Just finished it as an 89/1400 Wizard +J5 tank merc dragging a 76 Bard around for his A5 cleric merc. The cleric healed just fine so whatever difficulties I had are not a result of the low level merc.

Anyway, Zaztik's info is largely correct. The scrolls were common enough, and by time I had moved 6 eggs I had more scrolls than I needed. The frustrating part is the eggs...yes you can stand back and click them from afar to determine which can be moved, BUT, that's assuming you can target them. Much of the time, trying to target an egg results in targeting a nearby mob, which makes it difficult to confirm what can and cannot be moved. I used Eye of Zomm a bit to help with this but it's still time consuming.

Unfortunately my experience with being able to clear only the mobs immediately around an egg did not match some of the other posters. I don't know if this task was changed since 2009, but I believe I had to clear every room where I wanted to move an egg. You can pull to the "short" hallways as mentioned earlier, but the space is tight and I typically ended up with adds from the egg room.

I didn't have any problem combining the scrolls, and with the Iksar illusion, the mobs do not aggro when you do the combine.

Overall, this wasn't a hard quest, but it was a frustrating one. Make sure to do it in conjunction with Broodling in the Hand since they both take place in the Hatchery and you should get what you need for Broodling while working on Havoc.

    Good luck!

I was having a hard time "clearing" the rooms before repops (low DPS) so what I did was use bard invulnerability song to gather up all the mobs in the room, run them away until invulnerability dropped, then hit Fade and run back to clicky the eggs. Worked like a charm. Never got agro back from swapping eggs. After I swapped my 6 eggs, I picked a one of the south hallways between 2 rooms (3 mobs in one room, 4 in other, wandering golem in the hall) killed the golem then killed the 2 Broodkeepers that were up in those 2 rooms (yielding 3 of the papers) then cleared rest of the 2 rooms + pulled a couple PH's for named in the middle room. Waited for repops, 2 more Broodkeepers, yielding my other 3 pages. Pick up the book and combine, task complete. Bard very handy in east half of this zone, no trouble splitting what so ever.

OK so I picked up the combine container, dropped the 6 long-fought-for hard-to-get Sebilisian Legacies in it in the same room that i picked up the combine container from (its on a desk by the way), hit 'combine' and i get the message in yellow text, "You failed the combine but managed to recover Sebilisian Legacy.'

I pretty much had a cow with yelling, screaming, etc cuz those things SUCK to get. The mobs are rare, everything in the zone except the golems is immune to snare AND stun and they all run at 16% so be prepared with some major nukage when u want to do this event.

The crazy thing is, even tho I failed the combine i got an update in the quest log window /scratches head. i dont get it if this is the way its supposed to work i'm not impressed. I had a heart attack when I thought I had to collect 5 more of those stupid things.

did this entire quest solo with my merc, and here are some tips.

you can get this group task alone, you do not need a required number of players. the same holds true for the other group task called "Drake Scourge". both tasks have a 24 hour limit which is plenty of time.

having the iksar mask helps a ton for this and every quest given by the dragons.

first off you need 6 Sebilisian Legacy scrolls dropped by "an imperial broodkeeper". these can spawn anywhere in the zone but from what i've seen they spawn frequently in the egg rooms. keep clearing out the egg rooms and killing them, i had one drop 2 scrolls (stacked) which was nice. total process took 1-2 hours. a good place to camp is right in the middle of the "short" hallways on the map. each egg room has a short and long hallway connecting to it. the long hallways have a golem roamer. the short hallways do not. i did the entire quest in the short hallways.

for the next part you need to move around to the different egg rooms (invis or with iksar mask) and while STANDING BACK click each egg and see if you get a "you are too far away to interact" or whatever the message is. if so, that egg can be moved. each egg room can have anywhere from 0 to 3 moveable eggs. you want to check the entire room before clearing it out so you don't waste any of your time. the eggs that can be moved will look a little lopsided and darker in tone. once you've found a room with moveable eggs, find a nice camp spot (like above) and start pulling them and killing. make sure to snare as most flee at low health. some are immune and if so, may god help you lol. props to SoE for making everything in SoD snare immune! you do not HAVE to kill every mob in the room, just the 1 or 2 mobs that are closest to the interactable egg.

once the egg room is cleared out, just walk up to the clickable egg uninvis and click it. make sure there is not a sokokar or golem nearby as they may agro on you, i may be wrong on this. do this 6 times in total and you are done. some rooms may have 2 or 3 eggs which will make it go faster.

lastly, you meed to go in the center room in Hatchery and look on the two counters, there will be one or two red book containers. you need an empty inventory slot for this last part. pick up the book and put the 6 scrolls you picked up in the book container, unstacked. combine the scrolls in the book WHILE IN THE CENTER ROOM and you are all done. all there is left to do now is go back and hail Talendor.

its a good idea to /ooc and ask if anyone would like a task add before you do the final hand-in/hail. free chronobines, exp and the iksar skelly quest piece is never bad.

for this particular task i received 224 chronobines. i also managed to spawn the Lich Guardian named in one of the egg rooms which granted me a leg/arms gem. very nice!

Thought I'd add a couple notes to this. You cannot click the eggs while the room is occupied. If you have someone train the mobs out of the room and click the egg, you get agro, and once they're done murdering your friend, they come mop you up. You do NOT get a task update.

The above info is incorrect. Today I trained the mobs out of the room, hammered FD-wipe, ran back into the room, clicked the egg and got success text and no one aggroed. You can indeed do this with this method, but make sure u train them out a fair distance because some of the mobs start walking home immediately after FD. Also, make sure you have a good memory on where the egg to click is because u wont have but a couple secs to find it.

The method I tried did not work as described. All the characters involved had the iksar illusion mask and made use of it. The character that trained the mobs away kept running and did not FD. When I clicked the egg, I was immediately added to the hate list, and they all swarmed back to the room and splattered me. I do not recall if I successfully CotH'd the trainer before we wiped, but clicking the egg was what caused my death.

As Zaztik said, at least if you have the ancient iksar illusion, you do not have to clear the entire room, just the mobs closest to the egg you wish to swap. You do have be uninvised.
    Some help with the eggs
    # Dec 03 2008 at 9:15 PM Rating: Decent

I'm not an expert here by any means for unlocking secrets of new tasks, but one thing a group of us did learn tonight is that to "move the eggs" you have to be uninvised. So clear a room with the eggs along the walls, then try clicking each of them.

When you do move an egg you get the yellow emote "You successfully swap a few eggs".

We figured out that a bit late to finish the task, but that should help some others who get this one done to post back here. :)
