This quest involves collecting the Gem of Stamina and the Gem of Rightousness, then turning them in to a named orc in South Ro. Plan to spend a good few solid hours doing this quest and walking around the continents of Faydwer and Antonica.

Gem of Stamina

1. Go to the Temple of Solusek Ro. Find Lon the Redeemed at +553, -17. Hail him and tell him 'I am a rogue in need of redemption.' He will give you a sealed note to deliver.

You say, 'Hail, Lon the Redeemed'

Lon the Redeemed says 'Welcome, friend. I am one of the redeemed. I once walked the path of evil and woe. My talents were those of the House of V'ree of Neriak. I now serve the Burning Prince. Are you a [rogue in need of redemption] also?'

You say, 'I am a rogue in need of redemption.'

Lon the Redeemed says 'Then, so be it. Ro commands you to aid the saved one, Ortallius of the hot sands. He is in need of two gems, the Gem of Stamina, also known as the Gem of Passion, and the Gem of Righteousness. I once owned these gems in my former life. They rest with my old friend, [Conium Darkblade]. Take this note to him and he shall give you the gems which you will then take to Ortallius. Be off.'

You say, 'Who is Conium Darkblade?'

Lon the Redeemed says 'When evil ruled my life, I hid in the shadows with a fellow thief. This dwarf's name was Conium Darkblade. He was a genius when it came to poisons. I believe he now taints this world with his evil toxins. No doubt he hides near his homeland.'

2 Make your way to Conium Darkbalde, a dwarf on the center island in Dagnor's Cauldron (location: -235, -829). Hail him if and talk to him a bit if you'd like. Hand him the sealed note from Lon the Redeemed. He will give you a 1H Slash weapon named 'Never Stop Chopping.'

You say, 'Hail, Conium Darkblade'

Conium Darkblade says 'You seek Conium Darkblade, do you? Often I am here. To test my [wasp poison], yes. Fewer aqua gobs there now are. Ha!! A true rogue am I with no leader or guild. Just the wind and shadows and much treasure to be had.'

Conium Darkblade says 'So Lon has sworn allegiance to a temple. What a fool, but he is a skilled fool. My word is my bond and if he asks for the gem, then so be it. Unfortunately I traded it for a much-needed axe. It was in the middle of a dungeon and.. well, that is a long story. If you want to get the gem, take this axe back to the [one who once owned it].'

You say, 'Who is the one who once owned it?'

Conium Darkblade says 'The human who gave me the axe remains nameless. We were separated during the battle. If he ever got out of there with all his gold, I do not know. The only clue I know of is the axe itself. The words 'Top of the World' were once printed on its handle.'

3. This is a two-part step. The first part is to pay a visit to Falyn Farreach (location: +238, +628, +40). He is in High Pass Hold, in the back room of 'Top of the World' building in the far left corner of the zone.

You say, 'Hail, Falyn Farreach'

Falyn Farreach says 'Welcome to Top of the World, the newest shop in the pass!'

You say, 'Never stop chopping.'

Falyn Farreach says ''Never stop chopping?!!' Hey! I engraved that on a special order for a fellow Highpass citizen. I can't remember his name. He gave me not only some rare gems for it, but also a case of something called 'Lumberjack Pale Ale.' Great stuff!!'

Now head to a bar named the Lumberjack, located a bit south of the entrance to High Keep. You'll find Brian McGee on the balcony on the second floor (-242, +90), next to an ogre named Beef (heh). Give him the Never Stop Chopping axe, and he'll give you a Bottle Crate, which you'll need to fill with 10 different liquors (detailed in the next step).

You say, 'Hail, Bryan McGee'

Bryan McGee says 'I do not know what you are doing up here, but I am a busy man. Please return to the bar downstairs and enjoy the atmosphere.'

Beef says 'Gets moving before me smash yu to pulp!!'

You say, 'Never stop chopping.'

Bryan McGee says 'Hey!! You must be the one I traded my axe to. Funny.. I thought you were much shorter. If you have my axe I will return your gem to you. Well..? Let's have it!'

Hand him the axe.

Bryan McGee says 'On second thought.. You can do a little favor for me first. An associate of mine has asked me to acquire a case of spirits for him. Take this box and seek out what is needed to fill it. Inside you will combine the spirits of Lendel's Grand Lager, Gator Gulp Ale, Blackburrow Swig, Tunare's Finest, Underfoot Triple Bock, Frozen Toe Rum, Blood Spirit, Vasty Deep Ale, Clockwork Oil Stout and the legendary..[Oblong Bottle].'

Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk Underground got better.
Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk got better.
Your faction standing with Carson McCabe got better.
Your faction standing with Corrupt Qeynos Guards got better.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got better.
You gain experience!!

Beef says 'BWAHAHA HA!! Yoo werk fer Mister Axe now. Hehehe!!'

You say, 'What is an Oblong Bottle?'

Bryan McGee says 'The oblong bottle is a legend. They say one drink and you're off to oblivion, but just before that you feel the best you've ever felt and relive all your finest memories in the blink of an eye. The last I heard, some guy by the name of Turgin Swillfod turned up in Freeport spouting that he had found it. He was never heard from again.'

4. You may want to have an enduring breath item ready for this step, as it will involve some swimming underwater. The following drinks are needed:

Purchase:
Tunare's Finest - Wela Muselender, Felwithe, +100, -343
Underfoot Triple Boch - Tumpy Irontoe, South Kaladim (Irontoe's Eats), +178, +317
Lendel's Grand Lauger - Mac Deeppockets, Rivervale (Fool's Gold), -60, -190
Gator Gulp Ale - Bubar, Commonlands (tunnel), -1591, -2696
Frozen Toe Rum - Scon McDaniel, Halas (McDaniel's Smokes & Spirits), +340, -348
Vasty Deep Ale - Cleonae Kalen, Ocean of Tears (Sister Island), +501, -9250

Find:
Oblong Bottle - ground spawn, Ocean of Tears, now found in ruin on top of hill/mountain on Seafury Cyclops Island, inside a small stone ruin, +2325, -2855

Loot:
Clockwork Oil Stout - pickpocket this from a CWG Model CX (gnome robot) in Solusek's Eye (aka Sol A).
Blood Spirits - dropped from 'a hemo enologist,' a female Teir'Dal in Castle Mistmoore at location -63, +164.

a hemo enologist says 'Do not underestimate the might of Mistmoore!'
(slap slap slap)
You have slain a hemo enologist!

gnoll pup scalp x 2
blackburrow gnoll skin x 4
Ol' Tujim's Fierce Brew x 2 - brewed in a brew barrel, trivial at 135: cask, barley, malt, yeast, hops (all purchased in PoK from Sirekoth Eshe).

Combine all the drinks in the Bottle Crate to create a Case of Spirits.

5. Turn the Case of Spirits in to Bryan McGee to receive the Gem of Stamina.

Bryan McGee says 'I cannot believe you actually acquired all those drinks!! You do good work, kid. Here is the gem as I promised. And a few plat for good measure. Don't let it be said that the Axe doesn't treat his friends right.'

Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk Underground got better.

Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got better.
You gain experience!!
You receive 7 platinum from Bryan McGee.

Gem of Rightousness

1. Go to the slums of East Freeport and enter a building called Hallar's Resale. The Gem Case is a ground spawn on the first floor, and looks like a little bag. It is not a container, however, so it may be placed in a backpack.

2. Travel to the western Commonlands and seek out Noresa Sparkle, and be sure to bring approximately 550 PP with you. She is located in a hut near Befallen (approximately -705, +258). Target and hail her.

You say, 'Hail, Noresa Sparkle'

Noresa Sparkle says, 'He.. Hello. Wou.. would you like to buy something? Be quick or [Kizdean] will return!'

You say, 'Who is Kizdean?'

Noresa Sparkle says, '(whispering)..'Sshhh..Please..save me. Get..rid..of..him.''

While you're there, purchase a single sparking sapphire from her. You'll need it a bit later for another part of the quest, and can be a bit costly (510-540 PP or so, depending on charisma).

Find Kizdean Gix and kill him. Though he can wander the zone, he's typically found not far from the Freeport Militia guard hut near the border with Commonlands (approximately -175, +260). Kill him and loot 'A Sealed Note.' It tells you the location of your next victim.

You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix'

Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!'

Kizdean Gix says 'I shall show you the pure fury of the Dead!!'

You have slain Kizdean Gix!
Your faction standing with The Dead got worse.
Your faction standing with Queen Cristanos Thex got worse.
Your faction standing with King Naythox Thex got better.
Your faction standing with Keepers of the Art got better.
Your faction standing with Eldritch Collective got better.
Your faction standing with Primordial Malice got better.
Kizdean Gix's corpse says 'Soon you shall learn the extent of the Dead's power. Vengeance shall be theirs.'

3. Visit Toxdil, a Teir'Dal poison vendor in East Freeport, at the far back room in the walls of the Arena, /loc +905, -415.

You say, 'Hail, Toxdil'

Toxdil says 'Correct, Toxdil is my name. No last name. I swear allegiance to no house nor guild. What brings you down here? Perhaps you seek my [deadly liquid], perhaps not. Whatever your reasons, I warn you to keep an eye out for the militia. They have begun to patrol the sewers.'

You say, 'I seek the gem of righteousness.'

Toxdil says 'That gem is worthless!! If you want it, you can have it. Oh, but I forgot! I sold it to some gem merchant. I can't seem to remember her name, but she paid highly for it. Ha!! Imagine that. Worthless hunk of crystal. Do not bother looking for it.'

Give him the sapphire that you purchased from Noresa.

Toxdil says 'The gem!! I would notice its sparkle anywhere!! I cannot believe you are handing it back to me!! What a fool. Here you are, fool. You can have this worthless key now.'

You receive A Tiny Key (identifies as "Gem Case Key 2").

4. Go to Solusek's Eye (aka Sol A) by means most convenient to you. I would advise sneak/hiding around to avoid having the goblins pile on you. Search out and destroy Lynada the Exiled at location -999, -654, a Teir'Dal magician. She is of a relatively low level, so her spells are easily resistible. Loot a sparkle purse. Her faction is with the goblins here, on the Goblins of Fire Peak and Tribe Vrodak.

5. Hobble back to Noresa in Commonlands. Give her the sparkle purse, and she'll give you A Tiny Key (identifies as "Gem Case Key 1").

Noresa Sparkle says 'Oh!!! Thank you. You are my hero. I have been held captive by that horrid dark elf for weeks. Please take this. It was the key to a [gem case] which was stolen from me by an unseen rogue. If you find the gem case you can take it and the key to the original craftsman. He can open it with only two keys.'
You gain experience!!

6. Head to the tunnel of Commonlands (near the LDoN NPCs). Visit a human by the name of Bubar (/loc?).

You say, 'Hail, Bubar'

Bubar says 'Greetings, friend! I am Bubar, merchant from the burning sands. You must be thirsty or, perhaps, hungry. Please look over my goods.'

You say, 'What gem case?'

Bubar says 'Talking of containers? I do not make containers any longer. Provisions are much more profitable. Do you have one of my containers? Most likely you have locked yourself out then. My specialty was the three-lock case. They always lose one of the keys. Hand me the case and at least two of the keys and I can open it for you.'

Give him both tiny keys and the gem case.

Bubar says 'I need at least two of the case keys and the gem case.'
Bubar says 'I need at least two of the case keys and the gem case.'
Bubar says 'Mmmph!!.. *Pop!!* Ouch, my thumb!! Here you are. You had a gem inside.'
You gain experience!!

You receive A Sparkling Sapphire (identifies as "Gem Of Righteousness").

Now that you have both the Gem of Stamina and the Gem of Rightousness, you'll need to turn them in to Ortallius. He's found very northwest corner of the Southern Desert of Ro, at location +1266, -325. Once you turn in both gems, he'll give you the Burning Rapier.

You say, 'Hail, Ortallius'

Ortallius says 'Welcome to the lands of Ro. Stand and fight with me. We shall fight to reclaim the desert in the name of Solusek Ro. Death to all [dervish cutthroats]!!'

Ortallius says 'I was instructed to wait for two gems.'

Ortallius says 'You serve the Burning Prince as I do. The Redeemed has instructed me to give you this reward upon completion of your test. Practice your arts and prepare yourself. Evil approaches our realm. Long live Ro!!'
Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro got better.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men got worse.
You gain experience!!
You receive 4 platinum from Ortallius.

I just felt like doing this quest again. Ortallius' number loc (+1255, -325) loc is still the same, just the actual area has changed. He's in the southern portion of the map (since it's split into a North/South), just south of the elite sand giants. Just thought I'd update in case anyone else decided to do this for nostalgic feelings

Since the revamp of this zone, none of my old maps worked. I went to Mappfiend and downloaded the most recent map, and took a rowboat to the Seafury Cyclops Island. The Oblong Bottle was at the top of one of the hills by Gornit. Location is 2324.50 by -2856.34. Hope this helps the next Rogue looking for this spawn.

The quest text says:
Need response for "What deadly liquid?"
-- This takes you to the Toxdil's Poison quest (quest ID 129)

Instead, say the following:

You say, 'I seek the gem of righteousness'

Toxdil says 'That gem is worthless!! If you want it, you can have it. Oh, but I forgot! I sold it to some gem merchant. I can't seem to remember her name, but she paid highly for it. Ha!! Imagine that. Worthless hunk of crystal. Do not bother looking for it.'

Give him the sapphire that you purchased from Noresa.

Toxdil says 'The gem!! I would notice its sparkle anywhere!! I cannot believe you are handing it back to me!! What a fool. Here you are, fool. You can have this worthless key now.'

You receive Item(12352): A Tiny Key [Gem Case Key 2]

Also, one other update. For step 5 (5. Hobble back to Noresa in West Commonlands. Give her the sparkle purse, and she'll give you the other tiny key.), you get Item(12351): A Tiny Key [Gem Case Key 1].

When you get to Bubar:

You say, 'Hail, Bubar'

Bubar says 'Greetings, friend! I am Bubar, merchant from the burning sands. You must be thirsty or, perhaps, hungry. Please look over my goods.'

You say, 'What gem case?'

Bubar says 'Talking of containers? I do not make containers any longer. Provisions are much more profitable. Do you have one of my containers? Most likely you have locked yourself out then. My specialty was the three-lock case. They always lose one of the keys. Hand me the case and at least two of the keys and I can open it for you.'

Rogue Redemption

Introduction
Anyone can do this quest, although it is only appropriate for rogues. Faction is affected by some of the steps of the quest but is irrelevant during the steps since all dialogues, turn ins and purchases can be done at indifferent faction while sneaking behind the NPC if needed.

This quest consists of two main parts. The write-ups for each part will have a quick and dirty requirement only section and a full detail section with all dialogues, faction hits, optional parts and tips.

Guide

Lon the Redeemed, in the Temple of Solusek Ro (location +553, -17), claims you will be “redeemed” if you will deliver two gems to Ortallius, an orc in the Southern Desert of Ro (location +1255, -325). Lon actually does nothing for you beyond giving you a note to deliver. Ortallius gives you the Burning Rapier at the end and the redemption is limited to a minor faction boost. There’s no getting around the fact that you’re going to be running around Norrath for hours, unless you have some help gathering the drinks needed, especially the Blackburrow Swig. Some of the dialogues appear to still be broken or incomplete, as there seems to be a discrepancy and missing information between what Lon says he did with the gems and how they are found.

Gem of Stamina

Quick guide
  1. Visit Lon the Redeemed in Temple of Sol Ro and say “I am a rogue in need of redemption”.
    • a. Receive a note.
  2. Deliver note to Conium Darkblade in Dagnor’s Cauldron.
    • a. Receive an axe.
  3. Deliver axe to Bryan McGee in Highpass Hold.
    • a. Receive an empty crate 10-slot container.
  4. Fill crate with booze and combine to create a case of booze.
    • a. Lendel’s Grand Lager
      b. Gator Gulp Ale
      c. Blackburrow Swig
      d. Tunare’s Finest
      e. Underfoot Triple Bock
      f. Frozen Toe Rum
      g. Blood Spirit
      h. Vasty Deep Ale
      i. Clockwork Oil Stout
      j. Oblong Bottle
  5. Deliver combined case of booze to Bryan Mcgee
    • a. Receive Gem of Stamina

Full guide
None of this portion of the quest is really MQ’able since the turn ins are all single item turn ins of no drop items, although the Gem of Stamina is MQ’able in the final step of the quest.

{TIP}
1. If you plan on trying to do this quest all at once then be prepared to keep 3 bag slots open to have to loot up to 3 containers; Bottle Crate, Blackburrow Cask and Sparkle Purse.
2. Start by gathering up all the drinks needed in Step 5, or keep them in mind and pick them up as you run around Norrath whenever one is in a nearby zone. Examples: When you have to go to Mistmoore you could go to Felwithe while you are nearby to save a trip back. When you have to go to Dagnor’s Cauldron you could stop in Kaladim while you are nearby.
3. Start with about 600pp on hand for all expenses required for the complete quest.

  • Step 1.

  • Visit Lon the redeemed, a dark elf in the Temple of Solusek Ro (location +553, -17).

You say, ‘Hail, Lon the Redeemed’

Lon the Redeemed says 'Welcome, friend. I am one of the redeemed. I once walked the path of evil and woe. My talents were those of the House of V'ree of Neriak. I now serve the Burning Prince. Are you a [rogue in need of redemption] also?'

You say, ‘I am a rogue in need of redemption’

Lon the Redeemed says 'Then, so be it. Ro commands you to aid the saved one, Ortallius of the hot sands. He is in need of two gems, the Gem of Stamina, also known as the Gem of Passion, and the Gem of Righteousness. I once owned these gems in my former life. They rest with my old friend, [Conium Darkblade]. Take this note to him and he shall give you the gems which you will then take to Ortallius. Be off.'
You receive A Sealed Note which Identifies as ‘Note to Conium’.

The note reads: Hail Conium, I call upon you to join me in the service of Ro. If you choose not then so be it. I do ask that you return the gems of Stamina and Righteousness. Lon V'ree Disciple of The Burning Prince

    {TIP}
    1. After receiving the note from Lon, kill him and loot his head. You will need it for the Vein Rot Sketch portion of the Master Sketch quest. There is a minor faction hit with the Temple of Sol Ro but it is not much.
    2. While in the area, you may want to go to Solusek’s Eye after visiting Lon to get the Clockwork Oil Stout and A ‘Sparkle’ Purse.

  • Step 2.

  • Visit Conium Darkblade, a dwarf in Dagnor’s Cauldron (location -235, -829).

Give Conium the note from Lon.

You receive an axe called ‘never stop chopping’ and Conium only seemed to know about one of the two gems.

  • Step 3 {Optional}.

  • Visit Falyn Farreach in High Pass Hold, in the back room of the 'Top of the World' building in the far left corner of the zone.

  • Step 4.

  • Visit Bryan McGee, a barbarian in High Pass Hold found upstairs in the ‘Lumberyard’ tavern, south of the entrance to High Keep. He has an ogre sidekick called Beef.

    You say, 'Hail, Bryan McGee'

Bryan McGee says 'I do not know what you are doing up here, but I am a busy man. Please return to the bar downstairs and enjoy the atmosphere.'

Beef says 'Gets moving before me smash yu to pulp!!'

Give Bryan the axe, ‘never stop chopping’.

You receive a 10-slot container called a ‘Bottle Crate’.

  • Step 5.

  • Now you have to round up all the booze, fill the crate and combine it to create the turn in item. Only two of the drinks are not tradable; Blood Spirits and The Oblong Bottle.

Most of the drinks can be bought, some from more than just the merchant listed. It’s all pretty cheap but you’ll need a little cash on hand.
    Tunare's Finest - Wela Muselender, Felwithe, +100, -343
Underfoot Triple Boch - Tumpy Irontoe, South Kaladim (Irontoe's Eats), +178, +317
    Lendel's Grand Lager - Mac Deeppockets, Rivervale (Fool's Gold), -60, -190
Gator Gulp Ale - Bubar, Commonlands (tunnel)

Vasty Deep Ale - Cleonae Kalen, Ocean of Tears (Sister Island), +1987, -7816

    One is a ground spawn.
The Oblong Bottle – Oceon of Tears (Seafury Cyclops Island), +2327, -2855

    Two are found on mobs.
Blood Spirits – a hemo enologist, Mistmoore Castle, -62, +164. This is a no drop item that must be looted from her corpse. She is on the same faction as the others in Mistmoore; minus Agents of Mistmoore and Mayong Mistmoore, plus King Tearis Thex, League of Antonican Bards and Ring of Scale.
Clockwork Oil Stout – CWG Model CX, Solusek’s Eye. This can be pickpocketed or looted. Killing him to loot has minus faction to Gem Choppers, King AkAnon, Merchants of AkAnon, Miners Guild 628 and Solusek Mining Co.

    {TIP}
The second part of the quest, to get the Gem of Righteousness, requires a drop from a mob in Solusek’s Eye, so while you’re getting the Clockwork Oil Stout you should look for Lynada the Exiled.

One is made by players, a no fail brewing combine, tradeable.
Blackburrow Swig – 4 Blackburrow Gnoll Skins, 2 gnoll pup scalps, 2 Ol’ Tujim’s Fierce Brew all combined in a Blackburrow Cask. All items drop in Blackburrow and getting the 4 skins and the cask is probably going to be the longest part of this quest.

Once you fill the Bottle Crate then combine it to create a Case of Spirits.

  • Step 6.

  • Give the Case of Spirits to Bryan McGee

Bryan McGee says 'I cannot believe you actually acquired all those drinks!! You do good work, kid. Here is the gem as I promised. And a few plat for good measure. Don't let it be said that the Axe doesn't treat his friends right.'

Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk Underground got better.
Your faction standing with Coalition of Tradefolk got better.
Your faction standing with Carson McCabe got better.
Your faction standing with Corrupt Qeynos Guards got better.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got better.
    You gain experience!!
You receive some platinum from Bryan McGee.
    You receive Gem of Stamina.

    Gem of Righteousness

    Quick guide
    1. Go to Solusek’s Eye
      • a. Kill Lynada the Exiled and loot ‘A ‘Sparkle’ Purse’
    2. Go to the Commonlands.
      • a. Purchase ‘A Sparkling Sapphire’ from Noresa Sparkle.
        b. Give Noresa Sparkle ‘A ‘Sparkle’ Purse’ and receive ‘A Tiny Key’
    3. Go to East Freeport
      • a. Pick up the ground spawn ‘Gem Case’.
        b. Give ‘A Sparkling Sapphire’ to Toxidil and receive ‘A Tiny Key’
    4. Go to the Commonlands
      • a. Give Bubar the ‘Gem Case’ and both ‘A Tiny Key’ and receive ‘A Sparkling Sapphire’ (Gem of Righteousness)

    Full guide
This is the easier part since most of it is within a few connected zones, and all of the items involved are MQ’able. Once Bubar has two of the three final turn in items then anyone handing in the third item will receive the gem.

    {TIP}
Start by getting A ‘Sparkle’ purse from Step 3 to save time. That is the only item kind of out of the way to get and is not tradeable.

  • Step 1.

  • Visit Noresa Sparkle in the Commonlands (location -581, +831) in a house near Befallen.

Purchase ‘A Sparkling Sapphire’ from Noresa while you’re here, which Identifies as ‘Mezonium Qate’. Cost is 450-500’ish plat depending on CHA.

  • Step 2 {Optional}.

  • Find Kizdean Gix, a dark elf in the Commonlands. He roams around the area near Noresa and the toll booth on the road nearby and in the desert near Befallen.

    You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix'

Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!'

    Kill Kizdean Gix.

Loot ‘A Sealed Note’ which identifies as ‘Kizdean Gix Note’

The note reads: Dearest Kizdean, How dare you offer me this pitiful item. I am power incarnate. I do not need such frilly items. I lay waste to the strongest of adventurers who dare walk through the burning fields and into my realm. Bother me when you can fill this with priceless gems!! Fool!! Lynada

  • Step 3.

  • Find Lynada the Exiled, a dark elf in Solusek’s Eye (location -999, -654). She spawns in the far south of the zone near where the Fire Goblin High Shaman spawns and she sees through normal hide and invis. She is a magician and usually has a pet up. The goblins in the room will assist her.

    Kill Lynada.

You have slain Lynada the Exiled!
Your faction standing with Goblins of Fire Peak got worse.
Your faction standing with Tribe Vrodak got better.
Lynada the Exiled’s corpse says ‘My comrades will avenge my death’

Loot ‘A ‘Sparkle’ Purse’ from Lynada’s corpse.

  • Step 4.

  • Return to the Commonlands and visit Noresa Sparkle again.

    Give Noresa ‘A ‘Sparkle’ Purse’.

You receive ‘A Tiny Key’ which Identifies as ‘Gem Case Key 1’ and she does not respond to any other prompts I could think of. Bubar, in the tunnel leading to North Ro, does have a response when you ask him about gem cases though.

  • Step 5.

  • Go to East Freeport and pick up the ground spawn ‘Gem Case’ (location -950, +5) in a building called Hallard’s Resales upstairs.

  • Step 6.

  • Find Toxdil, a dark elf at the back of the East Freeport Arena (location +905, -415).

The deadly liquid prompt is for a separate quest of Toxdil’s for a low level poison reward. He does not respond to any other prompts I could think of.

Give Toxdil the ‘A Sparkling Sapphire’ you bought from Noresa earlier.

Toxdil says 'The gem!! I would notice its sparkle anywhere!! I cannot believe you are handing it back to me!! What a fool. Here you are, fool. You can have this worthless key now.'
You receive ‘A Tiny Key’ which Identifies as ‘Gem Case Key 2’.

  • Step 7.

  • Find Bubar, a human merchant in the Commonlands tunnel (location -1591, -2699).

    You say, ‘Hail, Bubar’

Bubar says, ‘Greetings, friend! I am Bubar, merchant from the burning sands. You must be thirsty, or perhaps, hungry. Please look over my goods.

    You say, ‘What gem case?’

Bubar sasy, ‘Talking of containers? I do not make containers any longer. Provisions are much more profitable. Do you have one of my containers? Most likely you have locked yourself out then. My specialty was the three-lock case. They always lose one of the keys. Hand me the case and at least two of the keys and I can open it for you.’

Give Bubar the ‘Gem Case’ and both of the ‘A Tiny Key’.

You receive ‘A Sparkling Sapphire’ which Identifies as ‘Gem of Righteousness’.

    Burning Rapier

Now visit Ortallius in the Southern Desert of Ro (location +1255, -325).

    You say, 'Hail, Ortallius'

Ortallius says 'Welcome to the lands of Ro. Stand and fight with me. We shall fight to reclaim the desert in the name of Solusek Ro. Death to all [dervish cutthroats]!!'
The dervish cutthroats prompt is unrelated to the Rogue Redemption quest.

    Give Ortallius both gems.

You receive some platinum from Ortallius.
    You receive Burning Rapier.

It is not needed for the quest tho, just do the hand in.

Also, the response to "what deadly liquid" is (and I don't think it has anything to do with this quest) is:
Toxdil says 'The deadly liquid I offer to rogues is called snake venom. I will be glad to make it for you, but first you must supply me with two snake venom sacs and my fee of 20 gold pieces. You may find the sacs upon the giant snakes of the Commonlands."

    3. Visit Toxdil, a Teir'Dal poison vendor in East Freeport. He can be found in a tunnel behind a fake wall. The fake wall he's behind is directly opposite of the fake wall/tunnel leading to the PoK book on the other side of the zone. His location is roughly +640, +200.

He is not in East Freeport, he is in West Freeport. I went nearly crazy figuring that out.

It looks like what was changed is the items associated with the quest. It sorta relates to my previous reply in regards to the "A Sparkling Sapphire" confusion. A Sparkling Sapphire (Fake) and A Sparkling Sapphire (Real) were both added as new items today. The fake being the one you buy from Noresa and the real one being the Gem of Righteousness.

Feedback is greatly appreciated, and can be sent to DavivMcD@hotmail.com

Don't hesitate to e-mail me if you find any errors/typos, have any suggestions, etc...

    Thanks in advance!

p.s. Durgully, if you happen to read this and haven't figured it out yet, the sparkling sapphire Bubar hands back to you is the right item. It identifies as Gem of Righteousness, while the sparkling sapphire you bought from Noresa Sparkle actually identifies as Mezonium Qate. The idea is that Toxdil wants the real Gem of Righteousness, so you buy the fake, visually identical, Mezonium Qate to cheat him.

I don't like how you have to really dig to actually find out the story behind the whole Rogue Redemption quest, or most quests for that matter. It's weird, because it seems like the developers actually made pretty decent storylines behind a lot of quests, but they're not trying very hard to show that.

You can't look at this quest as a PoP based weapon. You have to look at this as a Pre-Epic when a Pair of SBDs were the Uber thing to have. This is now a sign of respect for the Class more then anything. Also used if you are going to do the GM Vial.

I finally did this quest in a fit of boredom, and even with a druid Tracking, Porting, and SoWing, this quest took around 4 hours.

At the second to last step of the quest, when you give Bubar the Gem Case and the keys, he will NOT give you a Gem of Righteousness, but rather another Sparkling Gem (just like the one you bought earlier, but no-drop this time)

I thought this was a bug and sent a bug report, but while waiting I went to SRo and turned it in anyway, and it worked.

Also, finding Toxdil isn't as hard as it sounds. He's NOT in the sewers, per-se, as the walkthru says, but in the Catacombs of Freeport. There's a separate sewer system that runs under Freeport (this one has water in it), the catacombs does not. To find Toxdil, face towards the Commons from WFP Gate and hang a right along the north wall out in the newbie area. When you reach the corner, you'll pop thru the wall and Toxdil should be waiting. He doesn't seem to despawn anymore, as I saw him there all day.

I stumbled on the Sparkle Purse today in SolA. Didn't even know what it was for, but a young Rogue regenning outside the zone told me he was looking for it, but gave up. I farm items and cash in SolA (200+pp/hour, not counting the 2 bags full of items I walk out with in 2 hours, and easily soloable at 50+). Anyway, Lynada the Exiled seems to be a rare spawn in the High Shaman room, is a mage with, at the time, an Air pet, and puts up a good fight. I figured I'd impart my vast SolA wisdom to anyone pursuing this trivial quest.

To get to the High Shaman Room (While Sneak/Hiding):
    -------------------------------
Go into SolA via LS. Cross the lava walkway, past the swinging blade, past the window room to the ledge, dead ahead of you. Hop off that ledge and open the door, open the next door. There should be a gate in front, open that and turn left thru the door. Climb the first half-set of stairs and turn right, open the door, go thru that room to the right and then thru the double-doors on your left. Cross the lava on your right, you can hop across some broken terrain to the other side. Open that door, turn left, open THAT door. Turn to the first door on your right in the corridor. Traverse this room, down the stairs and to the left, VOILA, the High Shaman room. High Shaman drops the lovely Glowing Stone Band (2AC Effect: Serpent Sight:Worn, worth a few hundred pp) and the Platinum Dragon Totem which sucks. His PH's are various Solusek Goblins, and, as far as I can tell, Lynada. I think Lynada killed the Goblins, cause she was alone when I found her.

When picking the lock in E. Freeport make sure your pick lock skill is OVER 120. I attempted at 120 and was not allow to try. my next attempt was at 141 so the skill range is between 121 and 141.

I've read a few places (including lower down in this thread) that lockpick 121 was required for the EFP door, but that's bad info. I got the "your skill is not high enough" message at 125. So minimum skill required is somwhere between 125 and 141.

I found Bubar in the East Commons Tunnel, along the North Wall. He did NOT have Gator Pulp Ale, but the Shady Swashbuckler did, and he is right there nearby, just south of Bubar.

I am extremely anxious to start this quest, but before I do, I would like to find out first if I'm wasting my time. This quest seems to be entirely anti-dark elf. All the cities we are sent to to buy the liquor are cities where I'm,as a dark elf, pretty much KOS. Thank goodness for sneak and hide. Also, I'm required to kill several of my compatriots for this guild...but then again, I AM a dark elf, and that's not TOO bad.
But to begin this all I need to go to Dagnor's Cauldron and talk to a rogue dwarf....will he respond to me or kill me on site? Is the fact that I'm a dark elf rogue going to prevent me from doing this guild? the main person I'm worried about is this dwarven rogue. Is he more rogue then dwarf or more dwarf then rogue?

you should have no troubles with that dwarven rogue, he is a nice guy who is indiff to all, dwarves in general hate my iksar sk, but that dwarf in particular would always sell and buy from me while i was hunting unrest. if a scaley can get along without any fac hunting with him a d elf should have no troubles. hope that helps. btw, avoid the dwarven pally down the hill from him though, that dwarf is an entirely diff story and will prob. whoop your ****. good luck 8)

The DE's that get killed are exiled anyway so you won't get bad Neriak faction. In fact, you will likely get better bard guild faction. Also, in Mistmoore you will get better High Elf faction. You can raise the rest of factions with Tunare by doing the Muffin for Pandos quest in E. Freeport.

Otherwise, have a friend buy the booze (I generally do that in RL anyway). Only the Oblong Bottle and the Blood Spirits are NO DROP.

Killing all the gnolls in BB will likely make them love you in Qeynos and Surefall Glade as long as you're agnostic.

I started this quest at 12, and I'm just now finishing it at 44. (yeah, I know, everyone else finishes it around 30, but I didn't have any help until today...) a clarification on something that is probably broken, but may just be my faction... I couldn't buy the sparkling sapphire from Noressa until after I gave her the sparkle purse, and Toxdil wouldn't tell me anything at all when asked about the gems or the gem case. Just buy the sapphire and give it to him, save yourself some trouble with broken dialogue... surprisingly enough, there was a noticable xp gain when I gave him the gem, even at 44, not even mentioning the other gains at a time when I seem to always be going backward...

Is the loc of this correct? I'm out in OOT right now, when I swim to the co-ordinants I see nothing but water and when I swim to the bottom, sand. I'm assuming that it looks like a pouch of some kind. Can anyone clarify this part?

But - this quest was SOOO broken with all of the missing dialogue, it would have been impossible to do were it not for walk-throughs and words of wisdom from others who have completed the quest. Verrant needs to get their act together and make sure that quests work properly.

    A few notes on Blackburrow:
    1) BLACKBURROW CASK (1 needed): The casks are only dropped from the gnoll brewer, and the gnoll master brewer. I highly doubt you'll see the master brewer, but brewers aren't too rare compared to some other drops you need. To find the brewer spawn (there is only one) Enter BB and follow the right wall. You should come to a door. Open it, and run down until you come into an area with a bridge. Cross the bridge, and on the left side by the water is the brewer's spawn point. He has no placeholder as far as I know, but a gnoll guardsman will sometimes spawn on the brewer's place. Stay here for a while until you get the cask, there's nothing more to it than that.

    2) GNOLL PUP SCALPS (2 needed): These are very easy to find. They are about a 1/5 drop off of gnoll pups, which can be found right next to the qeynos hills entrance to BB, in Qeynos hills, the North Qeynos newbie area, and Everfrost. The best place to find them is probably everfrost, where you'll find swarms of the little buggers. If you are rich, you can buy them off of newbies, who always have one or two at least.

    3) BLACKBURROW GNOLL SKINS (4 needed): These are the toughest in my opinion. I worked for 12 hours in total in BB, and only found two. The other two I bought. They are an ultra-rare drop from the following: An Elite Gnoll Guard, A Gnoll Commander, A Gnoll Tactician, Refugee Splitpaw, Splitpaw Commander. They seem to be at about a 1/400 drop rate for me. I do not know whether they drop off of the Gnoll Shamans or Gnoll High Shamans. The Elite Guards are likely going to be the ones that drop them for you, as they are the most common of the said spawns. Best places to hunt are the elite room (number three at http://www.eqatlas.com/blackburrow2map.html) and the Commander Room (number 4 on the same map). For the Gnoll Tactician, go to number 5. Some would say that Elite Ledge is good, but I find it is always camped.
Also to be noted is that you do NOT want Blackburrow Gnoll Pelts nor Perfect Gnoll Skins. Both of these are confused with skins quite often, and the pelts look identical to the skins. If you are buying a skin, don't forget to check and make sure you have the right one.

    4) OL' TUJIM'S FIERCE BREW (2 needed): This one can be very easy or very difficult depending on your brewing skill or your guildies' brewing skills. As far as I have seen, it can only be brewed. Combine Barley, Hops, Yeast, Malt, and a cask. It yields two when you are succesful, and is trivial at 135.

Hope this all helped, and good luck in your journeys in Blackburrow.

I think that the cask is the hardest to get. I've gotten 8 BB skins so far, and 0 casks, and it's the very last thing I need to complete the quest. The BB skins also drop off of Lord Elgnub, I found out today.

TJs brew is made from ingredients that are cheap and store bought in both qeynos and halas. Dont bother locating a brewer, just put the stuff in the brew barrel and keep trying til you succeed. You get cask back on fail, so only need one of those, and the 4 other things stack. Even at 0 skill you have 5% chance of success, so on average you will need a stack of each.

It is often used to skill up on, which is probably why it can at times be found on merchants.

    # Apr 20 2002 at 5:08 PM Rating: Decent
Toxdil spawned at 2pm EQ Time after killing his placeholder(s) 3 times (2 rats and a deathfist pawn) and he is located just inside the hidden wall that is to the left hand side when facing WFP gate.

THe gem of righteousness is not called the gem of righteiousness, it just says that it is a "Sparkling Sapphire" when you get it back from Bubar after handing him the gem case and 2 keys. I was worried about this but turned them into Ortallius (NW corner of SRO) I did get my Burning Rapier.

To find the gem case Look for Roghur Mulesun in Hallards Resales in EFP. GO downstairs from him and you will find the locked door. THe gem case is on the floor. I had a picklock skill of 160 (Level 31) but I am sure it can be done with a lower picklock skill per the other guides.

    Status symbol among all Rogues
    # Mar 19 2002 at 3:11 AM Rating: Default
This quest is very old and three expansions have come out since this quest was made. But even thought there are other piercers out there with better stats (not too many), this weapon is a status symbol among Rogues. Not a lot of people will know about this item but if you have completed the quest and have the rapier, vets will know. It's more of an honor thing to have this than it is a situation of "My weapon is better that yours." I will be displaying this proudly when I complete the quest. Very close to finishing it.

P.S. Do you need to kill Kizden Gix for anything or can you skip him all together? Thanks.

I agree, to a point. While this is a great symbol to show off, it's a piece of crap. Comparable, a Centi SS, SSoY, and tons of other weapons are better than this (secondary of course). There's not much point in doing this quest anymore unless they upgrade the reward because you don't need it for the Epic anymore.

I was going to do it until I bought an SSoY for 300pp, which is comparable in ratio (8/24 vs 7/20), but SSoY's proc does 2x as much damage.

Quest time: 15 Hours. In a good cash camp, even at level 30, I could make 1k in that ammount of time.

Once again, I'm not flaming you or this weapon, I just feel that the reward is not good enough now, and VI should fix it, or make it easier.

The cask is a quest container, not a tradeskill one. It turns into the drink when combined, and is not returned, so you can not rent it out, only sell it.

Has anyone Verifed the MQ of the Quest

From Below posted Posted @ Thu, Nov 8th 2:52 PM 2001

1)Have your main start off the quest and get all the drinks; turn them in for the gem of stamina and keep it on your main for now.
2)Have your main kill Lynada and give the purse to Noressa for one of the keys.
3)Get the gem case and keep the key and the case on your main.
4)Switch over to your twink, buy the saphire from Noressa and turn it in to Toxdil for the other key.
5)Have your main turn in the gem case and his key to Bubar; quickly switch to your twink and turn in the other key for the gem of righteousness.
6)Have your main turn in the gem of stamina to Ortallius; quickly switch to your twink and turn in the gem of stamina for the burning rapier. The end

In my experience any quest where multiple items are turned and upon giving them to the NPC they make statements to the effect of "But I also need a key", then the quest can be MQ'd.

The NPC makes the statement because each item is submitted to them by the game one at a time. You would receive the exact same messages if you turned in one item, then turned in the second item, then turned in the final item. (or however many items are necessary).

There are some quests where items that are not MQ'able. You don't receive these interim messages from the NPC in these cases.

    Just my observations.

BTW: Just need 3 more skins (UGGHHH!!!!) and the barrel to finish. :)
