This raid task begins with Lord Antonius Bayle, at the very top of the fort in Oceangreen Hills. In order to request it, you must have completed Captain Hiran's three tasks. Otherwise, Antonius Bayle will turn you away.

Without pre-requisites:

You say, 'Hail, Lord Antonius Bayle'

Lord Antonius Bayle says 'Greeting adventurers. I do not mean to be brusque, but I am busy. Perhaps another in this keep will have more time for you, or even a task you may complete to help our cause.'

With pre-requisites:

You say, 'Hail, Lord Antonius Bayle'

Lord Antonius Bayle tells you, 'Greetings, _____. I have heard much of your accomplishments in the furthering of our cause. If you are [interested], I have one more task the you and a large amount of your friends might accomplish for us.'

You say, 'I'm interested'

Lord Antonius Bayle says 'Good. I see that your reputation is deserved. It seems like the Wrext Mal gnolls in blackburrow are up to something. I spoke with a dying spy who gave me some disturbing information. It seems like these gnolls are attempting a ritual that will make them some sort of unstoppable force. Our spies have not been able to successfully obtain more details, and the loss of life has caused me to hold further efforts. From what I have gleaned they have found a way to prevent death from normal physical damage. This must be stopped, but I cannot marshal a force to stop them. Will you put a [stop] to their efforts?'

You say, 'We'll stop them!'

Lord Antonius Bayle says 'Thank you. You will not be forgotten. See if you can also find the cause of this. I do not believe the gnolls intelligent enough to do this on their own.'

You have been assigned the task 'Stop the Ascension'.

Infiltrate Blackburrow with a large contingent of your friends and prevent the gnolls from completing their ritual. Additionally, before you leave Blackburrow find out if the gnolls had assistance. Lord Antonius Bayle does not believe them capable of this by themselves. Once you have completed this task, report your findings to Lord Antonius Bayle.

Zone into Blackburrow using its regular zone-in. Shortly after doing so, the regular gnolls in the zone will flee, clearing the way for you.

Stop the ritual 0/1 (Blackburrow)

A Wrext Mal martyr is found a little ways into the zone (open the door from the topside, work your way down to the first bridge, and there he is).

A loud barking voice echoes throughout the caverns.
a Wrext Mal martyr shouts, in Gnoll, 'You shall not stop us. I, the designated martyr, will stop you from interfering!'

Once aggro'd, you have five minutes to kill it to initiate the event. If this timer runs out, the event starts. Once the martyr is dead (or the timer runs out), another time starts - this one, 20 minutes. You have 20 minutes to "stop the ritual" before the task fails.

a Wrext Mal martyr has been slain by _____!
a Wrext Mal martyr's corpse collapses.
Your faction standing with Blackburrow Gnolls got worse.
Your faction standing with Darkpaw Gnolls got better.
Your faction standing with Cirtan, Bayle's Herald got better.

A loud barking voice echoes throughout the caverns.
Start the ritual, the invaders will never be able to stop us!

Eight renewal totems spawn around the area at the base of the waterfall, each of which surrounded by three Wrext Mal gnolls (1 mundunugu + 2 other random types).

The eight Totem locations for map file:

P -24.1117, 459.6121, -59.3958, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_1
P -373.1230, 263.1793, -187.2362, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_2
P 147.5292, 209.6015, -217.9883, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_3
P -346.9948, 125.7934, -157.3656, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_4
P -620.3417, 26.8387, -72.1085, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_5
P -589.4578, -39.6214, -146.3871, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_6
P -405.1627, -72.2838, -174.4497, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_7
P -205.19, -148.72, -216.25, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_8

For each totem:
- No more than 7 or 8 people and/or pets can be within range of the totem.
- The gnolls are tethered to their totems. If you leash them, they'll reset their health and spawn adds.
- The bloodreaver and shaman can be killed whenever or however you'd like.
- Keep the mundunugu alive (for now).

Once all eight totem groups are ready, they need to kill their "a Wrext Mal mundunugu" mobs. All eight must die within about a minute of each other.

If too many people are at a particular totem, adds spawn:

a Wrext Mal bloodreaver shouts, 'There are too many invaders, activate reinforcements!'

If you move away from your totem once you're on aggro:

a Wrext Mal shaman shouts, 'The invaders are running! Get them before they escape!'

If your 20 minute timer runs out:

A loud barking voice echoes throughout the caverns.
You have failed to stop .. ... ... .. ... ..........! You will not .. .. .. .... .. ....!
(The blanks here are what?)

Your shared task, 'Stop the Ascension', has ended.

The "stop the ritual" step updates once these eight mobs are killed within a short period. There are no timers for the rest of the raid.

a Wrext Mal mundunugu has been slain by _____!
a Wrext Mal mundunugu's corpse collapses.

A roar echoes throughout the caverns, coming from the eastern tunnels.

Your task 'Stop the Ascension' has been updated.

Explore the noise from the eastern tunnels 0/1 (Blackburrow)

From the bottom area of the waterfall, head east to a previously locked door. This step updates shortly after walking into the tunnel. (same location as "Beat the Blackburrow Boss" end mob)

Kill 1 Rottrued the Twisted 0/1 (Blackburrow)

Rottrued the Twisted roars deafeningly as it lumbers forward.

Rottrued the Twisted hits for a max ~13,000; summons from 100%; single-target rampages; AE rampages (full damage); enrages; and casts three spells: Chaotic Feedback, Chaotic Recovery, and Explosion.

Chaotic Feedback: Single Target, Chromatic (-650)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 2000 to 15000 (random)

Chaotic Recovery: Self 0', Chromatic (-650)
1: Increase Hitpoints by 10000 to 100000 (random)

Explosion: PB AE 150', Fire (-350)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 12500
2: Stun(1.00 sec)

He emotes throughout the fight. One of them signifies that he's magic-immune. One of them makes him DT the first person that lands a spell on him (whether a cast or proc) after the emote.

After a certain amount of time passes, he begins to increase in strength. These increases may be either gradual or in increments. (Reported hits range from 16,000 to 60,000+). Some time after being engaged for 13 minutes, he'll start hitting for 60k.

Rottrued the Twisted has been slain by _____!
Rottrued the Twisted's corpse collapses.

Your faction standing with Blackburrow Gnolls got worse.
Your faction standing with Darkpaw Gnolls got better.
Your faction standing with Cirtan, Bayle's Herald got better.

Your task 'Stop the Ascension' has been updated.

See if you can find what is influencing the gnolls 0/1 (Blackburrow)

Head further into the hidden area of Blackburrow until you come across a noc called "a hidden agent". It'll attack for a few moments before you see:

a hidden agent says 'Curse you, Norrathians. You will not stop us. We will succeed at another juncture. You are beneath my notice so I will not face you.'

Your task 'Stop the Ascension' has been updated.

A chest with loot spawns as this step updates.

Report your findings to Lord Antonius Bayle 0/1 (Oceangreen Hills)

Lord Antonius Bayle is pleased with your success.

Here are the (exact) placements for Tanks and the corresponding direction they need to face
before activating the instance by killing the Martyr. Copy and paste into the bottom
of the "oldblackburrow_1" file. Head to placements without going near the Martyr
and you'll have plenty of time to setup.

This can be done with eight tanks level (95+) and easier to only use eight and keep
everyone else away until the first step is complete. Each Tank targets their placement
boss and attack on signal using DPS disks. Clean up the two adds per totem
after all eight named are dead.

The cause of powering up is taking to long to kill him. He powered up on my raid today after taking 819 seconds to almost kill him. (wiping at 1% ftw =/). Max hit when powered up needs editting badly though. its actually 60k. (refer to my post on rottrued himself for specific on me).

First, You can move away from the totems with hate, you cannot cause any of the mobs to tether though, tethering even one will cause adds. If you leave the totem and the mob(s) don't follow, you are safe. Not a good thing to do, but people can leave a totem to assist another if the mobs are all kept from tethering.

You have 1 minute 5 seconds to kill all the mundungu from the first kill or the totem will repop. I was boxing and had a toon assisting a totem that was in trouble and accidentally killed mine. 1 minute 5 seconds later all three mobs repoped. I only happened at my totem though, it doesn't repop them all.

Also, aggroing the trigger (the martyr) starts an invisible timer, I don't have the exact data but you have about 5 minutes from aggro to kill him or the totems auto pop. This happened to us twice, once when we were learning the event we tried offtanking him when we placed totem five's group, then just recently someone aggro'd him, we blurred him but still got pops five minutes later without killing him.

One last thing maybe others can add info to, occasionally he is in what we call rape mode. He can just be in it from the get go, or can happen mid fight. We've only wiped to him twice, both times he was in rape mode. The first time he was like that from engage, consistent hits for 16k+ and a/e ramp for 16k. We rezzed, regrouped and took him down np. Second time he was not hitting like that. The second time this happened mid fight. I did not see any emote that we've not gotten before. It happened when we was about 40% and he just shredded the raid, a/e ramping for up to 40k and hitting for 24-68k a pop. We regrouped this time and he was still like that and shredded the raid by 80%.

No clue on what causes this, He emotes throughout the fight, 1 means he's completely magic immune, another makes him DT the first person that lands a spell on him after the emote (300k recourse) spell can be normal or weapon proc. But no emote seems to go along with rape mode. He just wigs out.

Once a Wrext Mal martyr is aggroed, you have exactly 5 minutes to start the event or it will start automatically -- doesn't matter if you drop aggro or not. If you haven't killed him in 5 minutes, he casts <Explosion> and poofs and the 8 totems spawn and the event starts.

Easy if you have enough people

If you have enough people for this, it is fairly easy. Just have a balanced group at each totem and kill the two adds first, bring down the mundunugu to for example 10% and let this know to the raid leader. He can then give the sign for all groups to finish off their mundunugu. Just have to bear in mind not to have pet proc weapons (pets are considered as players for this event, and too many players at one totem will make it pop adds), and not to move away too far from your totem (this will pop adds also). If you kill your mundunugu too fast, the totem will pop three new mobs, so you'll have to start killing again. However, the event can still continue if the other mundunugu's are still alive. The other groups will just have to wait ;) Then Rottrued himself, it's hack & slash mainly, not much tactics needed except for placement maybe. I got the earring yesterday, now at 99/100 avoid, 34/35 shield and I don't have that much real raid gear for the rest :D /flex

cakevi's post is not entirely right.

There are 8 totems. You DO need to kill all the mobs (which is 3 total) at all the of totems but you must kill the "a Wrext Mal mundunugu" at around the same time from all 8 of the totem locations then take care of the other 2. From there you will get a task update. From there you need to take your raid down to the lake area, go right... pass the doorway, take your next right up the hill. Inside there will be Rottrued. Kill! Have fun!

I dont have all the dialog but will get it as we progress in it. Found this link via http://mobilis.wordpress.com/seeds-of-destruction/sod-old-blackburrow-stop-the-ascension/

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Stop the Ascension

This is the instanced zone involving the raid task “Stop the Ascension”, given by Lord Antonius Bayle of the Oceangreen Hills. Zone into Blackburrow using its regular zone-in. Shortly after doing so, the regular gnolls in the zone will flee, clearing the way for you.

Creatures involved (level 80-82)
a Wrext Mal bloodreaper - sk, cast DT,lifeleach
a Wrext Mal mesmerist - shm,cast slow,dot ,dd
a Wrext Mal mundunugu - War , Flurry/Rampage/AE rampage, and hit hard. should be killed at high priority.
a Wrext Mal ravager
a Wrext Mal shaman - shm,cast slow,dot ,dd
- AE “Balanced of The Nameless” : Decrease Poison Counter by 99; Decrease Disease Counter by 99; Cancel Magic(9)

a Wrext Mal mundunugu shouts, in Gnoll, ‘There are too many invaders, activate reinforcements !’
a Wrext Mal reaver readies its weapon and moves forward.
a Wrext Mal bloodreaper moves to a fighting stance and advances.
a Wrext Mal shaman sizes up its opponents as it readies itself.

Stop the ritual
A Wrext Mal martyr is found a little ways into the zone (open the door from the topside, work your way down to the first bridge, and there he is). Killing this mob triggers a timer. Around the bottom of the waterfall you will find 7 totems, each of which surrounded by three Wrext Mal gnolls.

Totem Location : copy this and paste to your Map file.

P -24.1117, 459.6121, -59.3958, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_1
P -373.1230, 263.1793, -187.2362, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_2

P -405.1627, -72.2838, -174.4497, 0, 0, 0, 3, TOTEM_7

Strategy
Organize 7 normal groups. Move Invis to the 7 totems , 1 group at each. Then start event .
You need to balance your 7 groups to be able to kill adds who pop from the 7 totems and kill them as fast as you can. At each totems will pop the mobs. You need to kill them all at the same time under a special timer. If you kill too slow , they keep respawn .

When you have killed all the mobs under the special timer, a named pops : Rottrued the Twisted.
