    In Old Blackburrow, you take the walking route underground and pass over both rope bridges to find a human called Guard Ellery at -30, 655, -69.

    You say, 'Hail, Guard Ellery'

    Guard Ellery says 'Am I happy to see you! I've been held captive by these gnolls for some time now and didn't think I'd ever find a way out. They took my weapons and armor and dragged me down here. I still don't know why they didn't kill me, but I'd rather not find out. Do you think you could [help] me escape?'

    You say, 'I can help.'

    You have been assigned the task 'Run to Daylight'.

    Help Guard Ellery escape. 0/1 (Old Blackburrow)

    Guard Ellery says 'Great! If at any point during our escape you think the way ahead might not be safe, just tell me to [stop]. Let's get going then shall we? If any of the group that is with you now would like to also get credit for helping me, they can just indicate to me that they would like to [help].'

    If someone outside of your group initiates the task you will be unable to get it too until Guard Ellery is rescued, killed, or maybe if the individual logs/dies? If you try to get the task in this situation, Guard Ellery will tell you:

    Guard Ellery says 'I am already on my way out of here. Let's get going shall we? I don't want to spend another moment in this place! If you need me to [go] or [stop] tell me.'

    You say, 'Go.'

    Guard Ellery says 'OK, ______. I didn't much like sitting here anyway. If you think it might not be safe ahead, just tell me to [stop].'

    You say, 'Stop.'

    Guard Ellery says 'OK ______, I'll wait here. Just let me know when it's safe to [go] again. OK?'

    You must now help Guard Ellery reach the zoneout to Oceangreen Hills. If you encounter gnolls on the way they will attempt to kill Guard Ellery; however, Guard Ellery will ignore them and continue trying to escape at his normal walking speed. Killing gnolls, operating crown control, or training a path for Guard Ellery are all working strategies.

    Guard Ellery pauses for a moment at the exit, but doesn't say anything. Your task is updated at this point.

    I found this quest is timed, even though it does not mention it that I could see or just don't let him stand in the same spot for too long.

    I was almost to the entrance up top, when I got the message 'Guard Ellery mutters a curse before collapsing.' and he vanished. I was using an alarm set at 12 minutes when I killed the roamers on the way up, to keep track of when I should worry about them spawning behind me. I estimate being between the 20-25 minute mark before Ellery disappeared. I only had the one Gnoll at the entrance to kill. If it is timed because he is standing waiting too long in one spot, it was around 4 minutes maybe while I cleared 4 Gnolls right before the entrance. What a joke on players.

    I was working on the assorted Blackburrow quests and was trying to find my way to Guard Ellery for the quest Run to Daylight. When I got to the ledge, Slavemaster Raouk was up there as well as 3 other gnolls. Great I thought, I need his finger for Send the Message.

    While Raouk (level 81) is flanked on either side by other gnolls, there was a fourth behind you to the right when you come up the bridge. That fourth one can be pulled without agro'ing the others. I was then able to monk pacify one of the other gnolls (could not mez Raouk at least) so pulled Raouk and his buddy to the previous platform and solo'd them there pretty reasonably with cleric merc. Did this at 81, ~750 aa's, 80-85 bazaar gear (so most items ~800-900 hps) with total HP's around 45K.

    As others have suggested this might not be the best camp for fingers since he's a bit of a pain with the adds but is manageable and was happy to take him out since he was up (and I needed a finger.) Dropped 6 fingers as others have also said.

    I was able to then complete the Run to Daylight task with my merc with no issues. You'll just need to keep up a good pace to stay ahead of the re-pops. FYI, Ellery will follow the left path around the center pit when emerging out the door into the courtyard area outside. Once there, I used monk mez on the group of three gnolls and he was able to walk right past them to the exit. Just had to engage the gnoll at the zone in. You'll get the task update when he gets to the zone's cave entrance and then you report back to the fort to get your reward. Was a fun task, just took a while to complete.

    Not sure if anyone else knew this or not, however this is actually timed. Not with a timer per say, however after so long, you get this text:

    "Guard Ellery mutters a curse before collapsing"

    and you have to start over again. I had him up at the doorway almost out and he did this to me. I really didn't time myself so I can't give a proper time, but I was doing it for around an hour give or take. Honestly I'd suggest once you get up that far just have him go and you go train everything out of the way. Just a suggestion.

    Apparently the last person to add the task is the only one who can say "stop" and "go" to Ellery. I got the task and made him stop. Another group member added the task, and my control over Ellery ended. Only he could control him.

    Anyone in out group was able to control him. Just remember that you need to have Guard Ellery targeted and you can't be too far away from him or else he will ignore you.

    odd, cuz when i just did this, more than one of us could control him...

    also, if you want to add someone in, im pretty sure they need to be in the group (possibly in the zone) before he gets movin.

    we tryed to jump in when he was on the ramp and i was added into the group before i zoned in and was unable to get the task.

    but when we were all grouped together, we had no issues!

    reward gives 45 Chronobines.

    Once you've started this task, you cannot add people to your group and have them /say help to Guard Ellery. He'll tell you he's already on his way out. Tell him to go, let him die and he respawns on the same timer as regular mobs.

    This was pretty easy - he takes a short route out - with a full group, you could actually clear all the way to him then just let him go.
