This shared task (1-6 players) begins with Ulgin Darkhammer at location 650, -2035, -15 in the Korascian Warrens.

NOTE: You cannot use mercenaries in the instanced zone for this task.

You say, 'Hail, Ulgin Darkhammer'

Ulgin Darkhammer says, 'Good to see an eager face in these mines, traveler. Our work is cut out for us here. We've lost too many dwarves in the explosion which wrought havoc just to the north of us. Murdunk's magic-users conjured a mighty blast to break the Korascian Frogs, but they also opened up a big hole in the Plane of Earth, exposing its [crystal] core.'

You say, 'Its crystal core?'

Ulgin Darkhammer says, 'Aye, and when the Crystal Core was breached, it began growing masses of crystal into what was left of the Warrens up there, and strange crystalline creatures began issuing from the primal energy. They killed the dwarves we sent to [investigate]. A shame, because those primal crystal beasties could be worth a lot; I know a few mages that would love to get their hands on that much raw crystal.'

You say, 'Investigate?'

Ulgin Darkhammer says, 'There are a few tasks if you're looking for ways to keep busy for Kaigrun. I need someone to do some [scouting], some harvesting of crystalline [fluids], some gathering of crystalline [organs] for study, and perhaps you can make matters easier for us by knocking off the crystalline creature who seems to be their [ruler]. Or if you have the help of a few allies, perhaps you might be able to help us deal with the recent growth of crystal [blooms].'

You say, 'What blooms?'

Ulgin Darkhammer says, 'It seems that the death of the Crystal Antiont, which controlled the growth of crystals in the core, has allowed the crystalline entities to 'bloom' out of control. We fear that they might overwhelm the entire warrens if we do not slow their growth. Can you gather some friends and [take care] of this problem for us? This is a big job, you may need about twice as many folks as you usually try such tasks with."

You say, 'We'll take care of the problem'

Ulgin Darkhammer says, 'I can transport you nearer to the caves when you are [ready]. Good luck out there."

You have been assigned the task 'The Crystal Bloom'.

The crystals within the area known as the crystal core are growing out of control. This 'blooming' of crystals must be slowed until a more permanent solution can be found. Enter the crystal core and slow down the crystal bloom.

You say, 'I am ready'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered the Korascian Warrens.

Named

"Fracture" is a named mob that has a chance to spawn after spending at least 15 minutes in this instanced zone. It hits for a max ~7,000; is snareable/rootable; summons; and casts two spells:

Lightning Flash: Single Target, Magic (-350)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 7000

Static Bolt: Area PC 30', Magic (-350)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 7500

When it reaches 50% health, it splits into two mobs (of the same name). Then those two mobs split into an additional two mobs each when they reach 50% health. The split versions don't hit as hard as the original version.

You'll see this emote when Fracture spawns (roams the western part of the area):

Large crystals crack in the distance.

It drops one item per kill, with a chance at dropping an armor piece as well:

Crystalline Spiked Shield
Fractured Crystalcloth Amice
Spiked Shield of the Recormont

Zone Notes

One of the mob types in this zone is a "Bloom Crystal" (appears as a small crystal on the ground). The longer you are in the zone, the more of these crystals spawn. While they are non-KOS and are not social with (don't assist) other mobs in the zone, they DO assist each other when attacked. With this in mind, be careful about attacking a "Bloom Crystal" if there are other ones nearby.

The zone is full of roaming mobs, and there are few (if any) safe spots. Be prepared for adds.

The passages leading out of the crystal core area are blocked (if you try to run from the area, you'll be ported back with an emote saying it's blocked).

Task Steps

Slow the growth of the crystalline bloom 0/30 (Korascian Warrens)

Report back to Ulgin Darkhammer 0/1 (Korascian Warrens)

Task Progression

A dwarf named Wary ol' Krange is found in the instanced zone at location 885, -1685, 42.

You say, 'Hail, Wary ol' Krange'

Wary ol' Krange says, 'Well, so you're one of them they sent. Foolish. When you want to [leave], just tell me so.'

You must kill 30 mobs with "bloom" in their name to complete this task. These can be any combination of:

"Bloom Crystal"
"a bloom sphere"
"a bloom visceront"

The bloom spheres and bloom visceronts are normal zone mobs. The bloom crystals are permanently rooted and aren't social with other mobs in the zone, but are social with each other.

All "bloom" mobs have spells they can proc:

Crystalline Chill: Single Target, Magic (-550)
1: Decrease Attack Speed by 30%
2: Decrease HP when cast by 3500
3: Decrease Hitpoints by 2000 per tick (5 ticks)

Fracture: PB AE 600', Magic (-550)
1: Decrease AC by 300 (5 minutes)

Pervasive Crystalline Growth: PB AE 600', Magic (-550)
1: Decrease Mana by 1500 per tick (5 ticks)
2: Adjust Mana (-2000)

Once you have all your kill updates, say "leave" to Wary ol' Krange to zone out, and hail Ulgin Darkhammer.

You say, 'Hail, Ulgin Darkhammer'

The crystal bloom has slowed somewhat, but this is not the end for sure. Something must be done to permanently keep the crystalline growth under control.

As others have noted, the mobs dont assist the crystals.

Move to 2220, -1715, -50

No mobs path through this loc.

Pally, Shm, and bard box group.

Pally sat at loc, did nothing.

Bard hugged wall, Bellow'd and dotted crystals. Shaman added dots, hid at safe spot.

Probably takes longer than other ways but is completely safe.
Faction Chaged, its less now.

I get the quest "The Crystal Bloom", get transported into the instanced Koracian Warrens, complete the kill portion of the quest, and when I'm ready to leave Wary ol" Krange is nowhere to be found. There is no other way to leave the instance and still finish the quest. He is not around when I am transported in to 'hail' either. I have submitted a bug report and submitted a ticket, as well as commenting on another string regarding this quest.

Trivial at 100 for a solo class. The Bloom Crystals are static, nothing assists them, they con green and die to 3-4 nuke shots. They almost always spawn in locations where line of sight for spell casts can be obtained from a spot that the wandering mobs won't pass close to. Nothing sees thru invis, including the named Fracture.

I was able to request this task without a group.

This description: "The bloom spheres and visceronts are normal zone mobs. The bloom crystals are permanently rooted and aren't social with other mobs in the zone. However, they cast several spells:" seems to indicate that only the "bloom crystals" cast the listed spells, but all of the bloom mobs cast those spells.

You want too win this here it is....

Zone in find a good spot where mobs don't path stay along the wall and melee (close bloom crystal) but watch for adds. Range attack the crystals that you can not melee at close range. Nothing assists the crystals but other crystals. But the other mobs you treat like any other stay out of their aggro range. Also mobs with Bloom in name also count for this task credit.

I did this task with 2 85 Sk's ( Giri Veeshan Fury Guild)
(Lazrask Gathered Might Guild)
2 85 Clerics (Puviaa Veeshan Fury Guild)
(Goodsideofevil Veeshan Fury Guild)
1 85 Beastlord (Sabbu Veeshan Fury Guild)
1 85 Warrior (Minax Veeshan Fury Guild, my alt)
Long Time Bristlbane Legends

Leviating is nice here, Only 1 mob see's inivisbility nd its the name that spawns inside the instance. I hope this post helps you all out on you're future win.

Completed this last night. 2 x 85 Magician, 85 Cleric, 85 Enchanter and 85 Monk.

We found ourselves a nice out of the way spot on the north wall behind a large rock. The monk would do his magic and single pull the pathers to our spot to kill. We intended to clear an area and then go after the Blooms, but found that when he pulled a crystal sphere or a crystal visceront, they counted toward the mission total.

Crystal Bloom Shared Task
# Jun 17 2009 at 2:26 AM Rating: Decent
The crystal blooms multiply the longer you are in the instance (there is not a static number of them. Kill as quickly as possible to try to avoid getting patches of the blooms together. They will assist other blooms close to them if you attack but con indifferent before you attack them.

As noted before in another post if you are killing a bloom no other mobs except other blooms close to them assist. However the other mobs are kos and if they see you and you are in their aggro range, they will attack.

When a bloom starts out it is a translucent purplish color which changes to a red color and finally becomes a yellow crystal(not sure if this changes their hp etc in any way). And they grow anywhere on the land but not on the walls or in the lake.

If you have lev you can safely locate yourself in the lake and avoid the wandering mobs but some crystals will be hard to see and/or attack from the lake, to get out of lake just run up one of the larger pieces in the lake and lev over to the land.

I tried hiding out of line of sight of the crystals & let my pet beat on it but many of the dots still hit me and some DoTs/debuffs like fracture seem to be able to go almost zone wide.

If you go too far into the passages leading off the lake you are pushed back out about 30 feet or so and an emote says that some mysterious barrier won't let you go any further (not exact emote just paraphrased it)

Hope some of this information may be useful.

My warrior can get this quest; my druid can't. The only difference in their quest histories is that the warrior has done Darkhammer Supply Run (2x) and the druid hasn't completed it. Plus, the warrior has completed Primal Terrors, also from Ulgin. Since they're both amiable, I'm guessing Primal Terrors must be completed before being able to acquire THIS quest.

I've done Darkhammer Supply Run already and couldn't get this mission. So I repeated a Darkhammer task and got a little more faction and he started talking to me.
Very hard
# Nov 15 2008 at 2:46 AM Rating: Decent
took about 90 mins to complete task 2 necros cleric and shaman

hit mobs who then cast nasty AOEs mana drains hp drains and fracture dots (some uncurable)to name just 3 died many a time but bloom crystals die quite easy but mobs around them are nasty 4k hitters 8(.
There is a way to defeat this but group of 4 was the very hard way of beating it.

reward Timeshear Green Fragment Dena faction and some choros 60 I think not a lot for this mission

After completing this mission- kill 30 Bloom Crystals then hail Ulgin Darkhammer for completion, hail him again.-

You say "Hail, Ulgin Darkhammer."

"You did well in removing the Imperiont, but it seems that that was not the end of the issue. Something even bigger has taken it's place, and even the largest group we have been able to send into the Crystal Core have not even been able to get to it."

"Worse yet, it looks like it's starting an offensive to strike back at us. If you can gather a large amount of friends to help, we will need more of your (assistance). If you are not able to assist us, you can still (investigate) the other matters."

You say "I will investigate further."

*****I had a full group of 6 players and was told I needed more friends.
This appears to be some raid event. Will post more details when I get them.

Ulgin Darkhammer - Location is pos.653 neg.2034 neg.14.67.

DIALOGUE-

"Hail, Ulgin darkhammer"

"Good to see an eager face in these mines, traveler.
Our work is cut out for us here. We've lost too many dwarves in the explosion
which wrought havoc just to the north of us. Murdunk's magic-users conjured a
mighty blast to break the Korascian Frogs, but they also opened up a big hole in the Plane of Earth, exposing its (Crystal) core."

You say "What crystal core?"

"Aye, and when the Crystal Core was breached, it began growing masses of crystal into what was left of the Warrens up there, and strange crystalline creatures began issuing from the primal energy.
They killed the dwarves we sent to (investigate).
A shame, because those primal crystal beasties could be worth alot; I know a few mages that would love to get their hands on that much raw crystal."

You say "I will investigate."

"There are a few tasks if you're looking for ways to keep busy for Kaigrun.
I need someone to do some (scouting), some harvesting of crystalline (fluids), somegathering of crystalline (organs) for study, and perhaps you can make matters easier for us by knocking off the crystalline creature who seems to be their (ruler). Or if you have the help of a few allies, perhaps you might be able to help us deal with the recent growth of crystal (blooms)."

You say "What Blooms?"

"It seems that the death of the Crystal Antiont, which controlled the growth of crystals in the core, has allowed the crystalline entities to 'bloom' out of control.
We fear that they might overwhelm the entire warrens if we do not slow their growth. Can you gather some friends and (take care) of this problem for us?
This is a big job, you may need about twice as many folks as you usually try such tasks with."

You say "I will take care of the problem"

"I can transport you nearer to the caves when you are (ready).
Good luck out there."

**You have been assigned the task 'The Crystal Bloom'**

You say "I am ready." (ENTERING KORASCIAN WARRENS)

NPC Dwarf inside zone named "Wary ol' Krange"

You say "Hail, Wary ol' Krange."

"Well, so you're one of them they sent. Foolish. When you want to (Leave), just tell me so.

*****The crystals that must be killed to complete this quest are stationary, they do not move. However they do cast several spells on you which are-

'Crystalline Chill' (34 sec. duration) "Decreases melee attack speed to 70%. Inflicts 2,000 damage every 6 seconds.

'Fracture' (5 min. duration) "Decrease Armor Class by 1,000.

'Pervasive Crystalline Growth' (34 sec. duration) "Drains 1,500 Mana every 6 seconds."

*****Be aware that you CANNOT use your mercenary in here, it get's /auto suspended once you zone in and cannot use till you zone back out.

Location of "Wary ol' Krange" is pos.886, neg.1683, neg.42.70.

The roaming mobs in the zone DO NOT assist the stationary crystals that must be killed. However other "Bloom Crystals" will assist if they are in proximity. I suggest burning your entire mana pool fast on one as you will eventually get the mana drain dot and lose it anyway so best to get the thing dead.
As I zoned in a short while ago I saw 2 "Fractures" roaming at the same time on track.

Rewards for completion of the task are-

60 Chronobines, Experience, Faction (Mitius) & Timeshear Green Fragment Dena.

Unknown what pre-quests must be done to request this. The only ones that I have done are the first from the dwarf east of zone in and a couple from dwarves at the mithril golem site.
Once you complete the first quest from Darlgand Darkhammer <sp> which is basically just Hail another dwarf in the zone, you jump from indifferent faction to Amiable faction with the dwarves in the zone.
