This npc actually takes you stuff, platinum bars and all if you dont turn them in all at once. I had to redo breastplate,because i turned it in with only 1 bar. So now i amm redoing this part of the epic, I can only thank Cazic it wasn't my helm parts.

<All decayed pieces for this suit of armor drop from both "a Tae Ew crusader" and "a Tae Ew spiritualist". From what I found while camping these items virtually any of the stationary Tae Ew mobs outside of CT can spawn a crusader and I've seen as many as 3 up at a time. The spiritualist only spawns next to the tree at the river's fork, and has 2 buddies to keep him company (3 if you count the one on the other side of the tree). His PH's are either "Radiant" (named enchanter mob) or "a silvered Tae Ew observer". Both crusader and spiritualist are SK mobs that HT (about 300-350), and both drop at least 1-and often 2-decayed pieces. The Tae Ew mobs seem to be on approx. 10 min timer. As far as I could tell there doesn't seem to be a separate loot table for the crusader and spiritualist...either mob has a chance to drop any of the pieces.
Platinum bars cost about 104pp each from jewelcraft vendors (with 100+ cha) and need to be enchanted by a chanter. Don't forget you need 2 of them.>

He's in the same room as the other one... gotta get some prescription lenses in this helm.
Upon talking to the undead knight in the temple, he says he is only half of Grandyf the Vile, and therefore can only make Darkforge Gauntlets, Greaves, and Boots. Anyone know where the other half of the guy is?

I've got a friend who is a low lvl sk and wants this armor so I've picked up the decaying armor. However, im kind of a newbie to the whole questing thing so I'm wondering how do you multiquest? Any info would be great

I did the whole suit of armor in a little over 8 hours. Tracked with my 51 ranger. After you stay in the zone a bit and know the general area of where the Crusaders spawn you can instantly tell where they are by using track. Crusaders spawn a lot...people just don't realize because there are about 5 different places they can spawn. If you don't have track you never realized they are spawned somewhere else.

FYI I was helping a chanter friend kill Radiant the other day and happened across some decayed mail. On the north side of the island, there is a tree with about 4 lizzies around it. The one up by the tree is the silvered Tae Ew whatever, he is a PH for Radiant AND The Spiritualist. All three can pop in the spot. The Spiritualist was killed by us about 4 times before we got what we needed from Radiant. Every single time, he dropped at least 2, sometimes 3 pieces of decayed. There aren't too many mobs there and should be an easy FD pull to break the cycle, if nothing else. I am L51, so I won't vouch for sure, but the chanter friend was L31 and she conned the three named at varying cons dark blue through yellow. Anyhoo, just my observations for you SKs out there.

ok the best spot to get the armour at is this one obolisque. if u stand on the bank of the rive on the south end of the zone and follow it up. the water should be on your right side as u follow it. then u will find and obolisque with 3 lizards and that is were crusaders spawn teh most and the spiritualist. u can sollo this spot cuase if u pull them righ tthey will come one at a time.

I went down to Feerott last night to try and get some of the pieces, and found that each pyramid has 6 or 7 lizards on it, and the ramp has 4 plus 2 gorillas.
So short of always needing to bring along someone who can harmony (not always possible), how can I do this? I thought of trying to Feign Death pull them, but the thought of 7 lizards beating on me and contantly interrupting my spell made me rethink that idea.
Anyone have another suggestion?

specifically you can easily pull and not get gorillas.
1. first pull the solo lizard at bottom of ramp on one side and kill him.
2. run up railing on the side where lizard is now gone and pull the two at top. you WILL get two lizards, and this is VERY hard solo but with a partner you should be able to do it. just make sure to take any healer out first.
3. repeat on otherside of ramp. as long as you always pull from all the way at the edge of the ramp you won't get the gorillas.
p.s. if you send in pet first to crusader at top of ramp - the gorillas will aggro every time.
you can also get decayed pieces from the lizard spiritualist whose spawn is even easier to solo than the ramp from what i hear though i never did it. here is a post on it though.

you can keep your 2 cp's. your post does nothing to help anyone that comes here looking for info on the df breatsplate quest.
if you think it's lame armor to quest for why don't you do something helpful like suggest an alternative.
i have a full set of DF and was able to attain it with small groups starting from lvl 30. many twinks have better armor than this by lvl 30 so they aren't interested in the quests. if you are not twinked these quests are well worth it. armor is good , xp is good , and you get to travel all around completing them.
i had a grand time doing these quests.

This armor was/is some of the best armor in the game for lv 30's and grats to any non-twinks that have earned this stuff with their first characters.
I do want to add something about how importent this armor is for sk's to get ... we need to turn in our DF BP, Helm, and greeves in order to start our epic quest, so most SK's will have to do these quests at some point in time, mine as well do this quest while the armor is still really good and sense it can be attained by the levels that need it, this is one of the best quests in the game for players that don't have a high level char yet.

I have been doing this quest for about 4weeks. and i have seen that Crusaders spawn on the ramp most ofen, then at the radiant/silvered spot, then rarely at one of the smaller pyrimids. I mostly soloed them at the radiant/silvered spot, much easier to take than the ramp, no alligators will add to your train

ok i understand that you have to get some peices to make the armor but what i was wondering is how you put the peices together? do you use a forge? or do you have to turn the peices into an NPC?

The Darkforge armor quests originate in the Temple of Solusek Ro. You return the pieces to the questgiver there and he/she assembles them into your piece of armor.

I am now camping the pieces for the darkforge armor. I am a 44 ERU sk. The pyramids otuside Cazic have a number of lizards out there. For the most part, they are Light blue to me at 44, but many spawn that are both blue and green. I was planning to help a low level BL friend of mine PL a bit when I ran into the first of the crusaders. Not a difficult fight for me. The harm touch for 301 did hurt a bit, but I was only down a bub and a half of life by the end. This one dropped 2 pieces of the armor for darkforge. They seem to spawn at the enterance to Cazic most often, or at/near the top of the pyramids near the Cazic enterance. My strategy has simply been keep the entrance and the pyramids clear. Even with a low 30's BL as a healer, it is possible with only moderate downtime. (Enough for a nicotine fix now and then) In about 1 1/2 horus, I got 3 pieces needed, includeing 1/2 of the BP. Not that I really need it, but I'm going back to camp some more. I like these quests. Hope this helps some others out. Anyone know if the Grimey lance for the Soulfiend quest still drops?
Yes, it does. Drops off of a Tae Ew Spiritualist, who used to be the ritualist when CT wasn't the acursed version.
If you are looking straight up the ramp to CT, run right until you hit the water. Follow the water to the right, and you'll get to a pillar that is standing up with 4 lizards around it... 3 of them can be the generic fanatic/zealot/whatever spawns, but the one closest to the pillar will be a silvered Tae Ew observer, Radiant, or a Tae Ew Spiritualist. Spawn time is about 1/2 an hour... Observer common spawn, Ritualist uncommon (but I'm gonna lean towards rare... but that's just my luck :p) and Radiant rare.
Spent 20 hours recamping the Darkforge for epic over the weekend and got all except the right leg plate... Then someone was selling a pair for 450, and figured I could make that amount of money in the time it would take me to get the right greave easily, if not much more :p

Crusaders are now in Feerott and same lvl as they were in originally in Cazic Thule So now you have to head to Feerott and i knowfor fact that they are there beacuase i killed them

Try doing a little research first...Either that or just scroll down. All the crusaders are in the Feerrott OUTSIDE the temple and are still in the low 30s. Minor problem solved.

New data: since the crusaders have been moved outside of cazic thule, they now spawn in places around the ramp in feerott.
They spawn in the locations where the higher level lizard men spawn, the entrance has 2 on each side of the ramp, 1 on each side of the bottom of the ramp, and one can be safely pulled solo, at the pyrimid west of the ramp, on the west side of the pyramid, at the bottom step,
ive been soloing these guys for killer xp & money, at lvl 36.
the crusaders , from what ive seen in unpopulated hours, pop round about 1 in every 8 spawns, but it still is pretty random, they do usually drop 2 peices, and ive managed to get 1 set of completed boots, and have the decayed peices for the vambraces, unfortunaly, the only peice i need is the bracer, and the helm would be a plus,
with so many peices involved, you will find yourself with frequent duplicate peices, i guess thats just the price you pay.
i hope this awnsers all present questions on this camp =)

Well, big change now for the darkforge quests. After patching Cazic into a high level dungeon, the crusaders can now be found in Feerott, which DOES simplify the quest, as they are much easier to track down now. SKs can use sense undead to track their pets and won't run into a wall anymore like they did in Cazic *g*.
They mostly seem to spawn on top of those little pyramids near the entrance to Cazic now.

Been hunting the crusaders for the last week and not one that I saw had a pet with him. Casting sence undead only got the greenblood zombie. Guess the bums ran out of bone chips.

Went to Cazic yesterday for a few hours with guild to get those decayed parts to fit out our younger SKs and get the missing parts needed for epic on higher ones and killed about a dozen crusaders and four ritualists. The crusaders spawned regulary on top and at the base of the pyramid. I don't think we were just that lucky so they must have increased the spawn rate.
On the other hand they now only drop one part of the decayed mail, not two like they used to when being a much rarer spawn.
And to those who want to get their hands on decayed parts soloing just park a char in the ritualist room and log him on every few hours. The ritualist is a much easier kill since there are no healers around and you ll get only 2 adds max, very easy to take out by a char in their late forties. Doesn't even have to be an SK since anyone can do the quest and the finished armor is not no drop :-)

Just so all the SKs know,the crusaders are random but they always drop the decayed armor.When I was lower lvl I used to fight here..I barely ever saw the crusaders.I don't know much about this quest or about armor except I knew some stuff about the crusaders so i thought it wouldn't hurt to tell about them.Hope it helps!Safe hunting and good luck!

Crusty is Crustacean Shell armor which drops off the Othmir in Cobalt Scar. (Othmir are the otter guys, high 40's with excessive amount of hp's)
Because of faction and the cheapness of Crusty (which adds ALOT of STA and STR, both good stats as well as high AC) its advised to just buy the Crusty as opposed to camping it.
And Just for the record, AC is not the only thing that matters to tanks, High STA and STR are also desirable.

raided CZ w/ guild got 4 pieces in 1 night!! we just hung out under that green thing where the AoF spawns got 4 in 5 hrs

Im a 51 Iksar SK collecting this for the epic. is it possible for me to do the quest? or am I SOL and have to just buy from a player?

It is no drop. I've seen decaying drop off every crusader and ritualist killed. However, both are tuff to get to spawn hehe. The ritualist has a 1 to 2 hour spawn rate and the crusaders have PHs
Doesn't matter if it's no drop. Just turn it in with whomever picks it up. The BP isn't no drop

i just want to know from a person who has had some first hand experience killing crusaders. is the decaying armor a common drop? ive heard many things when i ask this question and want to confirm it. thanks

More than a common drop, decayed armor pieces ALWAYS drop off crusaders. The only question is which pieces.

Would I have to much trouble doing this if I have a small group of a 56 cleric a 52 wizzard a 35 druid a 26 sk and a 23sk? if so what other classes should i get?

NO,Im a 46 necro and I can Solo whole zone...
No, a 52 wizzy should be able to solo in there with effective mana management, I'd think. The mobs are high 20's to high 30's. The Avatar of Fear is supposed to be a 38 shadowknight. Harm touch would hurt a lot, but if you keep him back, one blast from the wizzy should take him out.

going to take more then one blast took I'm out me and my friend me 47SK and my friend 49 wiz I kept him busy fighting took 4 nukes to take him out very resistant. But still was very easy send the pet first to take the HT.
One Ice Comet will kill most mobs in CT. Zealots, Fanatics, Crusaders and the Ritualist will take an IC and a bit (Tishan's Discord will usually work).
Haven't tried soloing the AoF, as it's a bit crowded in that room for a wizard on his own. :)

I got the decayed BP off of a ritualist earlier today as I was running through and was wondering if I can multi-quest this with my Dark Elf friend (he's been hunting in Cazic for a while now trying ta get a full set). Any information would be appreciated

i recently heard that it is multi-questable:
if someone else has the decayed mail, have them turn that in first, then you immediately turn in the decayed BP and 2 enchanted plat bars.
i haven't tried this myself, but i am going to soon and will post again if i have success.

Anyone know where exactly the Crusaders Spawn? I also need the Spawn time and the location of where they spawn im also looking for the Avetor of Fear in temple of Cazic-Thule.

The Avatar of Fear spawns underneath the Silvered Temple. He can be reached either by entering the Silvered Temple or through the Sewers.

You just have to go to Cazic-Thule and join a group or go to an area they can spawn in and start killing placeholders. They are rare, but because they have so many places they can spawn there is usually one on tracking at any given time, potentially more. Shadow Knights can locate their general location by using the "Sense the Dead" spell to locate the Crusader's pet.

They often spawn in the Upper Throne Room, in Four Corners, in the Sewers and at the Silvered Temple. 4c is the most popular spot to hunt them with them usually spawning on the 3rd or 4th tiers of the pyramid. Rather than stay in one particular place, try using a usually worthless lvl 9 spell called "sence the dead". It picks up on the Crusaders pet, and if used properly, will lead you and your group right to him.

I am hoping this quest can be completed by any class. If not...I'll tail along w/ the sk friend, and have her complete. Am I "off base here"?
Any class can complete the Darkforge quests, although getting some of the additional parts (e.g. FP helms) can give you nasty faction hits if you're concerned about such things.

i spent 5 days in cazic thule..early this morning i got my complete set of decayed armour .i camped the ritualist lizard and he does drop decayed armour.i feel good that i got the armour.

This is the BEST shadow knight armor that ins't no drop. There is better armor out there, but you will actually have to earn it with you SK instead of twinking him with it. The best SK armor is malevolent armor, which is quested for in Kael Drakkel.

No Sentient isnt 'much better' If youre a Ogre or Troll it might be better but for the high int races this is almost as good, or as good as Sentient armor. Darkforge is more common for twinks anyway.
Sentient is nice if you are a low INT race like an Ogre or Troll, but for Erudites and Dark Elves (with their low melee stats) Darkforge is better, in my opinion.
Sentient is 1 point more AC in most cases (vambraces are actually less AC than Darkforge I believe), but I'd happily trade off that and some INT I don't need for some extra STR, STA or DEX. :)

Umm no, your very wrong about it being the best droppable SK armor, Im assuming ur talking about SK Only armor, b/c obviouslly there is numerous multi class armors which are better... However as Sk only droppable armors go, sentient is much better, and is droppable. Dark Forge is only good if your using say a heavy weapon or wanna look cool for only like 3k or so...

Was slumming above Throne Roome when a Crusader jumped me. Dropped him then feigned.
What is wierd is that the SK pet and the Lizzies immediately began fighting each other.(Normally when I successfully feign pet immediately poofs) This is not the first time I have witnessed this happening.
Same Crusader dropped both pieces for DF Breastplate.

Okay, so we have a tough group, 30 SK, 32 War, 31 Cleric, and 29 War, all backed up by a 52 druid (thanks Renwood). It aint worth it. We all end up getting killed by hordes of greens ('cept the cleric, she Gated), and all I got was one Bracer. You got to be kidding. Completely overrun. Saw two crusaders though, in about 2 hours, second one killed us all.

We camped the pyramid Saturday (6/3/01), zone was almost empty. Unfortunately we didn't have an SK in group. Did the pyramid, and saw 2 Crusaders in an hour, got BP, guantlet, face mask and bracer.
I got the guantlet, and have no idea what to do with it, since im a 30 cleric.
On the Rathe, if anyone wants em to finish the quest.

The spawn chance is totally random, sometimes they can spawn two in an hour, sometimes not one for up to 6 hrs, its totally random. I have cropped the place before and had both ways happen, and everything in between.

Ok i've been doing these darkforge quests for a few days only need the right leg and im done. At first i thought the 4c would be the best spot to get the crusaders he did pop
but is was rare. After that i moved to the pyramid above AoF he poped twice as often there as 4c. Next and best place i found was just outside the AoF room with all the pools. He poped 4 times in 3 hours and so far it is the best place i know of to get the decayed armor. I hope this helps you all

ummm they drop in the avvy room all the time im a 54 pally and got my friend the armor in under 5 hours. . and killed the avvy 6 times
