This quest begins with an undead knight at location 440, 80, 30.
You say, 'Hail, an undead knight' an undead knight says 'Leave this place or find yourself [bound to this land] as I am.' You say, 'Bound to this land?' an undead knight says 'I was torn to pieces for failure to complete a task for my master. I lost my life, my precious [shadowknight armor] and most of all, my [lower body]!!' You say, 'What lower body?' an undead knight says 'My lower body was taken from me, along with my hands. I was pieced together using portions of other failed champions. Now I can only [create darkforge armor] in the form of helms, breastplates, vambraces and bracers.' You say, 'Shadowknight armor?' an undead knight says 'My darkforge armor!! It was taken into the land of lizards by the lizardmen crusaders!! It is worthless decayed armor now!! I cannot even wear it any more, but perhaps you can!! Would you like me to [make you darkforge armor]?' You say, 'Make me darkforge armor.' an undead knight says 'Darkforge helms require my decayed helm and visor as well as two Freeport militia helms. The breastplate requires the decayed breastplate, decayed mail and two enchanted platinum bars. Vambraces need both decayed vambraces and a Qeynos Guard kite shield. The bracers require both decayed bracers and a broken horn from a minotaur lord.' You need a Decayed Helm and Decayed Visor (both from various Tae Ew mobs in the Feerrott) and Damaged Militia Helms (from guards in and around Freeport). Upon turn in: An undead knight say, 'Two damaged Freeport Militia helms, the decayed helm and the ddcayed visor.' Make sure you have 2 Damaged Militia Helms!!!

As of 5/18/2018 all of the Decayed pieces do indeed drop off either off the Spiritualist or the Crusader.
I just got my last piece the Breastplate, Thank God!!! Off a Crusader. Chainmail and Helm was off the Spiritualist.
So confirmed the Spiritualist spawns at the obelisk, Radiant and Observer are the PHs. I had a Crusader spawn multiple times to the right of him.
The ramp leading to Cazic-Thule also spawns Crusaders and for me it was always on the right side facing the ramp below and above.
Both Right and Left Temples to the ramp spawn Crusaders. Sometimes at the top, sometimes the bottom.
Some post mentioned the Northern Temples do not spawn but that is not correct. The north Temple on your right facing the ramp had a spawn just not very often. Still worth clearing.
I never had luck on the Left North or Center North temples. Also no luck at the bridge leading over the river where there's four static PHs.
What makes this such a pain in the butt is you might not see one single spawn in three or four clearings of all these areas. Then when they do spawn they don't drop your last pieces.
I got all the pieces fairly early except for the Helm, Chainmail and then the Breastpiece. Got those in that order and Thank God it's over!!!! Spent a week on and off farming these, maybe total time 10 hours?

I have been camping ferrot for about 3 days straight and a few off and on. I have yet to see/find a single part of this quest, so if your trying to do this the old way. Clear your schedule because your gonna be here a while.

Camp the spiritualist area i got the helm piece today off a crusader next to him so i guess that area is better chances.

Doing it for the armor, or for epic stuff?

Does it actually make a difference? I have personally gone through all the quest dialogue crap thinking maybe it was a hidden trigger. Still camping for hours on end with no end in sight. Cleared entire island with the exception of the a scout from zanivar type mobs at least 6 times. Literally no end in sight. Yes doing it for epic. lol
EDIT: I see. There is a faster way of doing it where you can skip some parts of it including this darkforge armor part. So you asked for no reason really. Only killed those 4 mobs over and over again while i did things on other accounts. Was really boring. I got some of the other decayed stuff after server resets and zone crashes since my original post date so it wasn't just those 2 camp sessions.

you need 2x damaged militia helmets, at least the undead knight says so.

FYI I got a Decayed Visor off a Crusader not a Spritualist.

I play on the Combine progressive server and with the new freeport the only place I found to find guards that weren't Red at 48 was right inside east freeport from North Ro. There are 2 guards there one was blue to me at 48 (Guard Zeph), but he still put up a good fight. The other was green to me and not as tough. They didn't drop the helm everytime though. I hope this helps someone, i had a tough time finding a guard I could kill that dropped the Helms

I found a place directly north of the ent to CT where you can camp a spiritualist which has dropped al of the decayed pieces needed for the darkforge quest. loc -159.88,535.07,59.40 there is a pillar thre npcs spawn in front usually a Fanatic, a spiritualist and a protector you can single pull with out any problems. This also the place items for a Chanter quest can be found, the Radiant spawns here also.

I'm a 62/62 OGRE SK. an undead knight cons indifferently to me. He's green to me. He's at location 434.83, 85.01, 33.50. Dialogue to follow:

Tried to Turn in Damaged Militia Helm for MQ to get the DF helmet and I got the message from undead Knight that said, "I have no need of this, you can have it back."
Guess I have to FARM the item the OLD fashion way-- UGH.

Posted: Nov 26 2004 at 2:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i camped the intier area for bout 8hrs seen crusaders in difrent areas they can pop anewar a lizerd can just rair as a lvl 53 sk its nothing but group abel as a 30 up id say the drop not to bad plat to 4 to 3pp off most i did get a drop off the one way up top at the point where the two rivers conect but most drop off crusaders i have bracer, helm, and half of the rest exseped brestplate

By the way, you can buy the decaying visor at the BB LDoN camp for 10 points! Score! At least that is what you are thinkin, but it don't work, it has stats.

Just started camping Feerot today (leftmost temple when facing CT) as a 39 Rng since easily soloable with Harmony for pulling. Anyway, first pull was the Crusader (tough little bugger though) and he dropped the helm and a side to the vambraces.
My only question is if there is a faction issue on the turn in, or is the MOB only apprehensive to all?

I got my DF helm this morning. Camped the Spritualist in Feerott for the decayed helm and visor...he also drops all other decayed pieces you need. He spawns at the point...basically cross the small bridge like you're going to the CT temple, but make a right after you cross the bridge and follow the shoreline. He has 3 other spawns around him, but are easy to take out if you're 33+lvl. His place holder is the Radiant and Silver Tau Observer.
Camped Guard Duriek in East Freeport. He's lvl 32-33..no other guards around. Enter East Freeport through the North Ro entrance...go straight past the guards...make a left, and follow the right wall..you'll see Guard Duriek. Dropped the Damaged Militia Helm both times I killed him.

Oki been camping the decayed helm for 6 days now, crusader droped 3 of each decayed pieces xcept for that darn helm. Had a 55 SK, 52 SK 2 40+ druid clearing that point for 4 hours on one occasion!! Whats the trick here .....

You must have forgotten to pray to Bertoxxulous for it to drop. Been camping the area for a month and haven't seen one yet. When I get to PoD I'm gonna kick him in the *****

Hey this is an FYI, I did this quest last night at level 32 sk with 75% xp(get the UI skin that tells you it's worth it), after I turned the items in I had 83% xp. This is very nice since killing a blue in Sol A is 1%xp.
I will post about the helm under the item itself on how to do it.

It's the usual "bring this list of stuff to me and I'll give you this" quest. AFAIK, no blacksmithing skills involved. That would make it waaay too tough.

Are the helms needed off the gaurds Damaged Militia Helms ?.....or do we need a Freeport Militia helm ?

Aye, the Damaged Helms Work Just Dandy. Easy targets are Guard Orpheen and his partner, whos name eludes me. Go into East freeport thru NRO gate, past first set of guards, then second set (lvl 60's, be invis if KOS) turn left, then right. go through arch and Orpheen and his partner guard the backside of the arch. Conned dark blue to me (37 SK). Nice pull spot around the corner to the left from the arch. Did need a heal from a Druid friend. Oh, warn your healer, if they cast on you during the combat, they WILL take a faction hit with the freeport guards.
umm orpheen and zeph good spot? no, too many adds. Just did it like 30 seconds ago

I just started a Shadow Gnight a lil after the patch on the 19th, and was wondering if the change in Cazic Thule nerfed these quest? or if they have simple been changed.
Quest still works. The mobs are now outside the temple on the pyramids near the entrance to Cazic Thule. High 20's is about the earliest you should have a real expectation of getting into a group for these.

I made up a little guide for questing Darkforge armor and all the pieces you need and a lot of information on the mobs to fight to get it all. Heck I even threw in the stats of all the pieces. Sounds like I've got a little too much time on my hands... =)
Anyways, it was written by a DE SK so I'm not sure if it would differ much between races, but feel free to take a look at it anyways...

oh i forgot to say to the people that don't think i did this a lvl 30 solo, i am playing on test sever and if you know anything about that sever there is not one person on that sever, and no grouping at lower lvls. so you tell me if there is only like 100 poeple on that sever how can i group with anyone.
