Kerrin the Unkempt is found deep in the caves behind the waterfall at location 6450, -335, 5.

You say, 'Hail, Kerrin the Unkempt'

Kerrin the Unkempt says 'Hail. I see you have remained friendly with the bears here. If they trust you, then I shall as well. Do you seek [wisdom]? Or, more likely, you are a member of Antonius Bayle's group and you seek our [assistance]. Regardless, I suggest that you not drink the water here, not even in this cave, for something has fouled it and only the bears seem to be able to drink it safely.'

You say, 'I seek your assistance.'

Kerrin the Unkempt says 'His druid ally has approached us and we have agreed that it would be in our best interests to work together to fight this evil, but there is little we can offer the Hierophant or the warrior Bayle. We specialize in knowledge of plants. That is why we came to this place a while ago, to study the great trees. Now they have been corrupted and my heart is broken. I'm afraid it is we that need help with our own [duties] as well as those that might [aid] your friend Antonius.'

    You say, 'What duties?'

Kerrin the Unkempt says 'It is not often that the Unkempt need or desire help from outsiders, but this is such a time. Poachers have taken advantage of our absence from the hills. They are killing animals for sport, wiping them out for no reason other than to see them die. These monsters need to be stopped. The animals of the hills have little chance of survival with plague and murder to contend with. We ask that you seek out these poachers and kill them. Hopefully your actions will convince others to find other ways to entertain themselves. Can you [do this] for us?'

You say, 'I can do this.'

Kerrin the Unkempt says 'May the grass soothe your every step.'

You have been assigned the task 'Poach the Poachers'.

Kerrin has asked you to help her deal with the miscreants that are hunting animals in the hills for sport. With the disease causing such great harm to the animals, she worries that none will be left if the poachers have their way.

Kill 4 poachers 0/4 (Oceangreen Hills)

The poachers are called "a poacher" and spawn randomly throughout the zone.

Speak with Kerrin 0/1 (Oceangreen Hills)

These mobs appear to be completely and pathetically random. I ran around for like 4 hours and didn't see a single one, then got 3 in like 20 minutes in two locations. Then another hour and a half running around before I got my last one.
    Wrong zone

Not sure what you're talking about, CaringFU. Those mobs are in a different zone (OGV).

    Tat

OK, mob info on here is wrong, these two are in OGH. Just spent more than one full game day taking them, and three others, out, as they spawned at OGV zone line. No poachers spawned at all.

Im going to save a lot of people a lot of trouble.

The spawn cycle is Billik Broadsword, and Henna Greymare.

I sat here for hours and hours and did not see a SINGLE Poacher. I watched track through a whole EQ day. It is not relevant to spawn time (At least not by itself).

So I sat around thinking why poachers would not be around, and in my opinion I would not poach if there were people around who did not like poaching (Makes sense doesn't it?) So I ran down the pathway and killed Henna Greymare, and Billik Broadsword. Sure enough I ran back toward the Glade (North Side) and watched two poachers spawn.

I didn't want to believe it, so I sat around for another few hours to make sure another poacher did not spawn. It did not. I ran back and killed Billik and Henna for a second time, and almost immediately like the first time there were poachers standing near the Glade entrance on top of rocks.

As far as Im concerned, or have tested, that BILLIK and HENNA need to be DOWN for POACHERS to SPAWN. If anyone proves me wrong, so be it, I hope this is right and you test it for yourself

I'm pretty sure the PH for the poachers are the two tottering treants. Each one is a PH for two poachers that spawn at different ends of the zone.

6 hours now and not a single poacher has spawned. Anyone done this recently? Tracking whole zone and just ZERO poachers spawning. I've done the quest twice in the past and neither time did it take more than 30 mins-hour. Something seems broaken.

Random. I just physically saw one spawn at 4pm game time. Was on north side of zone, just south of the hidden glade entrance.

The 7PM theory is conformed. Worked twice for me in 2 different spots in the zone.

Once 2 spawned along the path in the lake area and the second time, 1 spawned just south east of the glade entrance.

Was trying to get some Reanimated Bone Dust for Salving Grace quest and noticed that the putrid skeletons and a skeleton seemed to be on same cycle as poachers. There were already 4 poachers up and as I killed putrid skeletons and skeletons either others popped or poachers. Might be worth trying killing these types of mob to get poachers to spawn.

not one of these spawn methods can be confirmed, they're all idiotically sporadic just like sony's mentality. You can kill up and down the road all day, you can kill at the poacher spots, you can idle camp all day. The spawning is completely randomized. I've killed for 2 hours nonstop and not had any spawn, then I stop and after an hour two spawn around 5pm game time.... try the same pattern as before, none spawn.

this crap quest reminds me of BiC Ferubi, Sony wins the cake again.

Just spawned these guys by killing a lot of animals. It was during the day, and they didn't spawn at night.

The 7pm stuff is not correct. At least not on my server (7th hammer). I left a tracker up and saw nothing for a whole RL day. The next day we started killing everything and they started popping.

The best advice I can give is kill everything that roams on the road from the southern fork north on the west side. The poachers all popped somewhere near the road, and all in the bottom 2/3 of the zone. They popped at all hours of the day.

I wont dwell on the stupidity of the quest being "protect the animals", and in order to accomplish the quest you have to.... slaughter all the animals.

With a group the other day, killing everything and anything to get these to spawn. Someone mentioned that they heard poachers only spawn at night, and sure enough, at 7 pm game time, 3 poachers spawned in the south part of the zone. If you got those maps from EQ toolbox, the poacher spots marked are not where they spawned this time - it seems to be random spawn points. Soooo ....wait until dark...muahaha

Is there a trick to get these things to spawn? Killing everything around the area and not a single one. Kinda stupid if they are this rare. Any help is appreciated!

The poachers are called "a poacher" and are random spawns on the various points in the zone (just like the snakes, bats, undead, etc.). The quest now also rewards "Crest Upper Left Field Frame".
