You get a red message spammed into your chat window as you approach the barrier in the flooded part of the cave:
You need to put the bait Rhuk gave you on your mouse cursor.
OTHER NOTES:
* Vergalak drops only ONE filet.
* Having multiple people in the group put the bait on their cursor does NOT cause more Vergalaks to spawn while the first one is still up.
* It DOES, however, consume their bait. Players who lose their bait this way will have to remove the task and return to Rhuk to start over and get a new bait.

This is the third task in a series. It begins with Rhuk L`vere just north of the Crusader camp at Loc - 1006, 430, 238 in Sunderock Springs.
You say, 'Hail, Rhuk L'Vere' Rhuk L'Vere says, 'Would another offer pique your interest? This one is perhaps more daunting... but that would matter not to the likes of you. Listen closely... You must venture further into the mines and locate an ancient Bonesnapper creature known as [Vergalak].' You say, 'Vergalak?' Rhuk L'Vere says, 'Yes, use this as bait to lure him out. If you manage to find him, be wary! I never did find out what happened to the last fool-hardy soul I sent down there... In any case, bring me back the choicest portion of the beast and you will be dually rewarded.' You have been assigned the task, 'Earthy Extermination III'. You receive an item called "Bait from Rhuk L'Vere". Enter the Vergalid Mines 0/1 (Sunderock Springs) Find the Flooded Caves 0/1 (Vergalid Mines) Lure Vergalak out of his lair 0/1 (Vergalid Mines) Go to the "dam" area (before the drop off) and place the Bait from Rhuk L'Vere on your cursor. Don't go to the actual drop-off (waterfall); just stand on the blockade part of the dam with the bait on your cursor. We spawned Varkalak by just having the bait in our inventory. In fact, we were not quite to the blockade - just to the South of it - when Varkalak surprised us. Our 70 warrior said he did NOT have the bait on his cursor. We'll redo the mission today for another character and confirm.

Confirmed: To spawn Vergalak, you MUST have the bait on your cursor. This is the spawn trigger. If you have not cleared the area, expect a probable Gloompetal add.
If you should fail to kill him (and it does happen...) Vergalak will not despawn. He will instead hang out at the bottom of the waterfall, and will NOT respond to bait. He will need to be manually pulled, or fought in the water.
This task can be repeated, and both rewards obtained.
