Greetings folks, I am Grebom 90th cleric and Leader of Shield of Loyalty on the Xegony Server. As of the beginning of August of 2011 this quest is bugged. When you talk to Fendel near the Korathis Village, he will not follow you even if you dont invis, IVU or kill him to respawn. I have included my bug report to SOE however, for those that dont want to wait that long here is a way to work around it. Before you get started, there is a mulch that could be in your way that is close to Fendel you will want to kill it before you start with him. After you kill it, Talk to Fendel to get the portion in the quest started. After you talk to him, you cannot aggro him until after you invis or IVU yourself. Invis or IVU yourself, this makes him aggroable. If you have no spell to memory wipe the aggro make sure you have someone with you that has that spell. Now use anything to aggro him ( attack, use arrows, spell, etc ) but do not kill him. Let him follow you hug the right wall as you go around the village, keep doing this till you are on a hill behind the building Amber is in. Go up to the building, hug the right wall to avoid aggros with other villagers when inside stay at the corner accross from Amber. If you get too close to Amber, she and her father will attack you and you do not get the end result of the quest. When Fendel comes in and attacks you, memory wipe him. When his memory wipes, the event will normally start out and you get the end result of the quest. It is also helpfull to wear the Eyes of Blackwater both Fendel and Amber are both warmly on this faction.

This is the ninth task in a series. It is assigned at the end of the previous task, "Rally the Town".
You have let Fendel know that a raid on on the Elddar encampment for the purpose of rescuing his love and child is imminent. You have been assigned the task 'Save the Child'. Fendel says 'It's settled then! We leave tonight. Soon, Amber and I will be reunited and this horrible nightmare will come to an end. Let's hurry!' Meet Fendel near the Elddar village /loc 240, 2480 You say, 'Hail, Fendel' Your task 'Save the Child' has been updated. Fendel says, 'Thank goodness you're here. We must search these huts until we find Amber! She must be here somewhere! Rescue Amber and the child Go to the mysterious stranger and buy the Karathas faction modifier. Equip it and see Amber (location -335, +1825). If you hail her, she may start attacking, so be prepared for that. Doing so updates the task. You can mem blur her. You have witnessed the curse of the Hills of Shade from the human's point of view. Amber leaps to her feet to greet Fendel and they embrace. Fendel is overjoyed, 'It's been so long! I never thought I'd see you again.' Amber says, 'Welcome back, my love. I want you to meet our daughter.' A shadowy figure emerges unseen and slips behind Amber. The shadowy figure speaks, revealing himself as Valthun, 'You continue to betray my trust by fraternizing with the corruptors. For the good of us all, this must end now.' Amber slumps to the floor, quivering in a pool of her own blood. Fendel collapses to his knees. Fendel screams, 'Gods, no! How could you?!' Erollisi Marr speaks, 'This union, of which I gave my personal blessing, has produced nothing more than bloodshed, anguish, and petty squabbling. Look upon the horror of your misdeeds, humans and elves. Look at the pain you have caused.' Erollisi Marr speaks, 'You have made a mockery of my gift. You have taken something beautiful and twisted it into endless pain.' Erollisi Marr speaks, 'I will teach you of endless pain and you will know my scorn. You now bear the curse of Erollisi Marr.' Erollisi Marr speaks, 'Forevermore will you relive these mistakes, until you recognize the error of your ways. You will be cursed until you understand the value of love.' The bug has been fixed, earlier i killed amber by accident so i re-got the quest and worked just like it is supposed to.

In summary because that's a huge block of text:
Kill the shrub next to Fenlen at the South West of the zone to prevent issues
Cast invis on yourself
Fenlen agros
Let Fenlen follow you to the south keeping wall on right. Let Fenlen go inside of the building with Amber.
Drop agro, let quest finish. (I'm a monk so I just stayed feign death)
I can confirm the quest is still bugged and the work-around listed above works exactly as described.
