This is the final task in a quest arc for a +25 Purity augmentation. It begins with Dwinn Axeheaver who can be found in the Loping Plains in the Fang Breakers camp near the zone-in from the Steamfont Mountains at -1407, -3264.

Upon completion of the previous task:

Dwinn Axeheaver stares intently at the crystal for several moments. 'This crystal is overflowing with terror and grief. You can feel the cries of souls trapped within it. The souls captured within these crystals must be what is boosting the power of these orcs spells. This cannot be tolerated. We must find the leader of these orcs and put a stop to this practice. Perhaps we can use this crystal as a [lure] for one of the higher ranking orcs.

You say, 'How can we lure him?'

Dwinn Axeheaver says 'Near the entrance to the orcish stronghold is what was once an elven circle of some power. Given the behavior of the orcs so far I suspect they are using this circle in their rituals. Take the crystal and place it in the circle. See if it brings out any of the higher ranking orcs.'

Place the humming black crystal in the center of the ruins

The ruins are near Bloodmoon Keep. Click the humming black crystal at /loc -1932, +403, +196.

For your in game map file:
P -387.0652, 1916.5581, 195.5316, 0, 127, 0, 3, The_ruins_(crystal_click)

Slay any orcs that come to investigate the crystal

Three waves of orcs: 1st: Two 80th level orcs; 2nd: Four yellow-con orcs; 3rd: Four yellow-con orcs and a named: Grand Shaman Talun (snare/rootable; doesn't summon).

a freed spirit says 'Thank you for freeing us, the other spirits have departed the area in haste, but I felt the need to thank you myself and perhaps give you a bit more insight into what has been occurring here.'

a freed spirit says 'The Prophet as you have already guessed is the leader of these orcs. His rise to power came when he foretold the darkening of the sun. The day the sun finally did darken, The Prophet believed it was proof of his divine power so he took a good number of his newly gained followers and attempted to overthrow Emperor Crush. Unfortunately for The Prophet, Crush's forces were greater in number and some of his own followers turned on him when faced with the mighty Emperor. The Prophet's insurrection was quickly driven from Crushbone Keep, forced to wander the wilds of the Faydark.'

a freed spirit says 'It wasn't long before the Prophet's orcs become desperate for food. They hunted small game in the Steamfont Mountains until they came upon an encampment tucked away in a wooded alcove. In it they found three large cloaked figures screaming and writhing in pain under a full moon. All the orcs were blinded by the strong smell of fresh and plentiful meat and ravenously attacked with no idea what manner of creature they were about to eat.'

a freed spirit says 'Once under attack, the howling figures fought back as best they could, biting and scratching any exposed orc flesh they could find in the dark, but they were quickly overcome. Almost every orc suffered a minor injury, several received mortal ones. Even The Prophet was bitten by the mad creatures.'

a freed spirit says 'In a rush to fill their bellies, the orcs ignored their wounds and feasted on the corpses before them with reckless abandon, finding bristly fur was getting stuck between their fangs. The orcs felt unusually rejuvenated after their great meal and together tended to their weeping wounds with bandages and resolved to find a proper home for their new clan.'

a freed spirit says 'The next several weeks passed without too much incident, but many orcs had noticed small changes in themselves, better hearing and sense of smell, but attributed it only to the powers of The Prophet. Then the orcs found themselves in the Loping Plains when the first full moon since they'd feasted on those howling beasts appeared.'

a freed spirit says 'When the moon reached its apex in the sky, each orc began a rapid change. Something was very wrong and it was The Prophet who first howled into the night knowing what had come of them all. In only moments, the entire clan was overtaken by lycanthropy and transformed into wereorcs. Most orcs descended into complete savagery during their transformation, but some, the ones who were fully bitten that fateful night, retained their sense and intelligence, including the Prophet.'

a freed spirit says 'It was then clear that those writhing, howling beasts they feasted on weeks ago were werewolves. More accurately, they were Shadowmanes from Darkhollow. Normally a bite is needed to spread the full curse of lycanthropy, but the interruption of the normal lunar and solar cycles due to the war in the Plane of Sun corrupted the curse of lycanthropy and caused all of the orcs who had eaten the flesh of the werewolves to be afflicted in some way as well.'

a freed spirit says 'It was also found that those who were bitten could telepathically communicate and control the orcs afflicted by the flesh-bound curse. Through this hierarchy of happenstance, The Prophet found he and the others who were bitten were able to maintain a semblance of order in their clan.'

a freed spirit says 'After that night, The Prophet reassured the wereorcs that they will remain and grow as a family and declared them a clan to be known as the Bloodmoon Tribe. Scouts were sent out into the night to find a suitable and worthy living space for this new family. They returned claiming that a long abandoned elven Tunarian temple in the mountains would suit them well.'

a freed spirit says 'The Bloodmoon Tribe migrated to southern Loping Plains to find the abandoned Faygannen Temple of Vines. As you can see, the temple had been discovered and decimated by Mayong's vampires and minions in years past. Only the spirits remained to watch over the once glorious place.'

a freed spirit says 'From that day, the Bloodmoon Tribe has made the old temple their own, raising banners and ramparts suitable for their needs. The Prophet has taken upon himself to ensure the growth of the Bloodmoon Tribe by inducting more orcs into their family on a grim altar.'

a freed spirit says 'To guarantee their power, The Prophet with the help of his alchemists has found the black faycite magic crystals do well to fortify the undead and amplify many of the affects of lycanthropy that make his tribe so terrifying. This is desirable to them as, unlike most werewolves, the wereorcs need to eat souls to survive, another mutation of their lycanthropic curse.'

a freed spirit says 'Your help in this has aided in stemming the tide of souls these wereorcs can harvest. Thank you for helping my people. Would that we were still alive to join your efforts. I must depart now, but remember our plight and destroy the wereorcs at every turn!'

I had this problem, didn't get wiped out but had to zone out. What I did was removed the task "it ends now" from my quest list, went back to Dwinn, hailed him, go through the normal convo, and he'll give you another crystal.

I did the first 8 tasks for this solo, but couldn't quite seal the deal on the last one on my first try. I cleared entrance first, then the ring, then clicked. The first wave was easy, but the second wave I kept getting some of the mobs on my merc, which meant she blew thru mana fast, I ended up with the final mob snared and waiting, memmed three bites to help feed mana back to her, took a while to get to FM. At any rate, the final pull I had the same problem, got two of the adds down but they dropped the merc and me shortly after.

I was short on time IRL, but a chanter friend logged on and offered to help for another quick shot at it, so I ran over and cleared the mobs, this time in reverse as suggested here, the ring first and then the entrance mobs, and moved foward nearer the entrance after clicking the stone.

The first two waves were very easy now, and the third wave wasn't much harder... until I realized I was standing there with attack on and nothing was happening. Turns out I'd targetted the high shaman first, thinking he might be unmezzable, and when he got low on health he ran. We hadn't noticed, in all the confusion (well ok, hadn't noticed because it was so easy we weren't really paying attention). Suddenly we got adds from the ring, repops (fought too close to the ring) So he was off target, and out of sight.

I killed the rest of the mobs, plus all the ring mobs, but he never came back. On the other hand, I was still on Swords, so he hadn't vanished. Asking the zone, nobody had him on track either. I lost swords on him, thought he despawned, but then I noticed they were flickering on once a tic, so he was just so far out of range that he was forgetting me.

I really had to run IRL, but my chanter friend volunteered to bring her ranger bot over and find him, so I went and stood by the spell vendor and left... by the spell vendor I had swords again, so he was over near there.

Ranger bot came in, found the mob, who hadnt' regenned at all; he was just standing by the rivers edge. Killed the mob, I got credit for the kill. When I came back from my errand, I was able to run up and hail Dwinn and got my aug.

Point of all this rambling being that the high shaman runs when LHP, even if his buddies are still alive.

I cleared the 4 or 5 orcs that are located at the click point to trigger the event. I didn't try ignoring those mobs and attempt to click the crystal while invised. Someone should try that sometime.

Evidently the waves basically "zone out" of BMK to charge you. So, as stated, it is best to clear the 2 near the entrance and at least one roamer if you want fewer mobs to deal with.

Except for the named, all wave mobs came fully morphed so they are easy to identify visually from any normal mobs that may add to any of the waves.

If you are low on DPS and/or require some medding between waves (as already stated...you can snare/mez the last mob of any wave, beat them down until they turn to flee...and med up for next wave before dispatching the snared/mezzed mob) I would advise that upon triggering the event you charge the incoming first wave and meet them about half way, and meet the subsequent waves in that area as the 4-5 mobs cleared near the trigger spot may repop while you are occupied with the quest mobs.
So..for less chaos and fewer or zero adds, clear the normal zone mobs near the entry just prior to triggering the event.

Not sure if this is a new random zone rare or part of the task, but
"Elaborate Defiant Minotaur Staff" dropped from one of the waves. Can't find it on here or Lucy.

Make sure to clear guards in front of Bloodmoon zone. They will add. Thought we had more mobs in our waves until we found they were just nomal mobs.

Well in general you should know that subsequent waves do not spawn until all the MOBs from the current wave are dead. So: leave at least one Wave X MOB alive (rooted, snared or what-have-you) until you or your group are rdy for the next one.

Be sure to distinguish between Wave MOBs and trash adds (cuz you will get them).

At any rate - the 3rd Wave: Kill Talun for the update - the other MOBs don't particularly need to die - you can kill them of course, but if yer lom / end etc. just get the others under control and dispatch the Named 1st.

As an 80th lvl Wiz I solo'd the 1st 8 tasks and got some chanty help for the 3rd wave of the 9th task (2nd wave was touch-and-go so I thought I'd ask for some help in the form of excellent traffic control). Got the Named dead, task updated, and my client crashed. Returned to a corpse, but task was then completed with a Hail.

Now .. time for some Solt or SoF legs or chest ...
