This group task is the fourth in a series of five and begins with Clockwork Warmarshal, who is located near the Ak'Anon Strike Force camp at the zone-in of Fortress Mechanotus.

    You say, 'Hail, Clockwork Warmarshal'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'Hello there soldier. It's good to see so many Norrathians rally to help stop this menace! Since our crash and my [promotion] to leader of the Albatross' ground forces, I've been overwhelmed with necessary military action and underprovided with forces to complete those actions. I know it's unusual, especially since you are not officially enlisted for this action, but perhaps you could [accept orders] from an old clockwork and help out all of Norrath in the process? Or if you and your allies are truly brave, someone needs to make forays into those dratted [gyrospires] if we're to have much of a chance getting reinforcements up here.'

    You say, 'Gyrospires?'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'In addition to the Fortress Mechanotus, Meldrath made three other spires that he uses as roving tower defenses. Though he called them guard towers, and they could help intercept attacks, intelligence we have gathered indicate he also planned to use them in his attack on Ak'Anon. When Ak'Anon made it's counter attack we managed to destroy one of them before we were unable to continue to fly. Our intelligence indicates that they are called gyrospire [beza] and gyrospire [zeka].'

    You say, 'Beza?'

Clockwork Warmarshal says 'Though you have completed all of the tasks I have given you, we find that we need for them to be repeated multiple times as Meldrath keeps supplying the towers with new clockworks to replace the ones destroyed. Because of this we have not quite disrupted the tower enough to take possession of it. Would you like to [confront] the challenges in Gyrospire Beza again?'

You say, 'I would like to confront those challenges.'

You have been assigned the task 'End the Return'.

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

The Clockwork Warmarshal needs you to inhibit the ability for the steamworks to recover after your attacks.

Destroy a significant amount of their store of supplies. You will need to gather supplies with which to do this while you are inside. Be sure to kill the steamwork responsible for refueling other steamworks and the brownie responsible for their repairs. Also destroy more steamworks and kill other brownies that you see.

Go to the Gyrospire Beza Launch Catapault - 0/1 - Fortress Mechanotus

    Kill 25 Steamworks - 0/25 - Gyrospire Beza

Kill 10 Brownies as they do much of the repair work on the gyrospire. - 0/10 - Gyrospire Beza

Find something that can be used to light the fuel - 0/1 - Gyrospire Beza

The "light" is a ground spawn on the top floor, in a small room near the ramp that leads to the roof. There's a single gnome in there, and a hearth/forge. The ground spawn looks like a large burning coal on the floor in front of it. The light is a Burning Ember found near grill in kitchen on third floor.

Find something that can be used to destroy the repair parts. - 0/9 - Gyrospire Beza

The "substance" is a Glob of Oil. You can find about 12 of them in the round room that contains the "center pillar" by clicking on the oil drums around the outter walls of the room.

Destroy the fuel that is fed from the central pillar. - 0/5 - Gyrospire Beza

The center pillar is in a round room about halfway up the tower, that has a large pillar in the middle and has 5 spouts labled oil around it. Stand on top of each one and use the "Ember burst" click to destroy them.

Kill the steamwork that fuels the other steamworks. - 0/1 - Gyrospire Beza

Fuelmaster XI can be found in the same center pillar room.

Kill the brownie that repairs the steamworks. - 0/1 - Gyrospire Beza

Tomoko is on the next floor up from Fuelmaster XI. From the ramp, first room on the right side.

Spread the substance you found over the parts. - 0/7 - Gyrospire Beza

You may very well need all 12 clicks. All the parts can be found in Tomoko's room. The "parts" are boxes, mostly wooden looking ones but two look like metal boxes. Stand in front of them and click the Glob of Oil to update this step.

Destroy seven containers of the repair parts. - 0/7 - Gyrospire Beza

This one seems buggy. We got 5/7 without realizing it. We're not sure if destroying the fuel or spreading the oil somehow updated this one as well. We got the last 2 out of 7 by using the Ember Burst click while standing on the boxes that look like they contain steamwork heads, in the same room as the parts from the previous update.

Return to Clockwork Warmarshall and report your progress. - 0/1 - Fortress Mechanotus

    You say, 'Hail, Clockwork Warmarshal'
Clockwork Warmarshal says, 'By destroying the fuel stockpiles and repair parts, you have impaired their ability to mount a successful counterattack. If you are interested, there is more you can do in gyrospire [beza].'
Your task 'End the Return' has been updated.
You have reduced the ability of the gyrospire's forces to recover from attacks.
Your faction standing with Ak'Anon Strike Force V could not possibly get any better.
You have successfully been granted your reward for: End the Return

    Possible trash drops:
    Undocumented Stabilizing Compensator
    Slimy Ooze Ejector

Not sure what is going on. Found room with parts. Started clicking oil on each of the boxes but never got an update. Ran out of oil still no update. Tried to light it but it says theres no oil on the parts. Even tried standing on box, use oil, dont move - light it. No go.

This is currently bugged, tried it twice. Cannot update the step to spread the oil on the parts.

There are 13 globs you can grab in the refueling room, trying them everywhere in the Tomoko room will not update even once. The Ember only says "The parts are not yet oiled" when you try to use it.

End the Return - Made the following adjustments to the steps that involve using the Glob of Oil or Burning Ember:
    - Increased the range at which these items will work on a nearby target by about 50%.
    - The check for closest valid target will now skip any targets which have already been affected.
    - The Z axis is no longer taken into account when determining nearest target.
    - Widened the valid area in Tomoko's room where the objects can be used so that it no longer says you're not in a valid area when up against the south wall.
    - It's now necessary to oil all the tools before any of them can be burned.
    - Burned tools now disappear.
    - Fixed the bug where you could burn multiple tools with one use of the ember but only get credit for 1.

You probably will have to go into the basement to get enough brownie workers to complete the task.

The burning coal is VERY small ... I missed seeing it the first 47 times I looked for it ... VERY small ... location is -246 43 460 ...

The ember will give you the parts updates as noted, you will have to do a couple of crates in the room where you poured oil on them to complete that step of the task.

    To get the task:

    You say, 'beza'
Clockwork Warmarshal says, 'In our continued effort to cripple the operations within gyrospire beza we would like you to stop their ability to refuel and repair the clockworks. Destroy their supplies and the clockwork that oversees the refueling. While you are at it, there is a brownie that does the repairs. Kill him so that they will have a harder time repairing the clockworks you [destroy].
    You say, 'destroy'
You have been assigned the task 'End the Return'.

Go to the Gyrospire Beza launch catapult. 0/1
    Kill 25 Steamworks. 0/25
Kill 10 Brownies as they do much of the repair work on the gyrospire. 0/10
Find something that can be used to light the fuel. 0/1

The "light" is a ground spawn on the top floor, in a small room near the ramp that leads to the roof. There's a single gnome in there, and a hearth/forge. The ground spawn looks like a large burning coal on the floor in front of it. Its not listed on Lucy's yet and I didn't write down the name, but it was temporary, and had "Ember Burst" as a click on it. Its not expendable (not charges).

Find something that can be used to destroy the repair parts. 0/7

The "substance" is a Glob of Oil. You can find about 12 of them in the round room that contains the "center pillar" by clicking on the oil drums around the outter walls of the room.

Destroy the fuel that is fed from the center pillar. 0/5

The center pillar is in a round room about halfway up the tower, that has a large pillar in the middle and has 5 spouts labled oil around it. Stand on top of each one and use the "Ember burst" click to destroy them.

Kill the steamwork that fuels the other steamworks. 0/1

Fuelmaster XI can be found in the same center pillar room.

Kill the brownie that repairs the steamworks. 0/1

Tomoko is on the next floor up from Fuelmaster XI. From the ramp, first room on the right side.

Spread the substance that you found over the parts. 0/7

You may very well need all 12 clicks. All the "parts" can be found in the room adjoining Tomoko's. There are lots of clockwork/steamwork parts strewn about the room, on the tables and floors. Stand on top of these and click the Glob of Oil to update.

Destroy seven containers of the repair parts. 0/7

Took us just over 2 hours to complete the mission. I play a rogue and my friend plays a bard, and I'm sure it would have taken us much longer if not for that. Once the kills were out of the way we spent over an hour stealthing through the zone searching for the light and then figuring out which spots to spread the oil. There are a handful of see invis and the occasional see SoS in the zone.

If you're nowhere near where the clicks work, you'll get a message that "you see no reason to use that here" (not exact message).

Good luck with this one, its a pita.

Actually ALL the parts are found in the same room Tomoko is in, the "parts" are boxes, mostly wooden looking ones but 2 look like metal boxes. Stand in front of them and click the oil glob u got from the barrels downstairs to update this part.
