This task begins with Lamperious Cogwittle near the zone-in of Fortress Mechanotus.

    You say, 'Hail, Lamperious Cogwittle'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Hello', Lamperious coughs. His body seems to cave further in on itself with each hacking exhalation. He appears tired and badly injured, his legs are splinted and bandaged. 'You must be one of the adventurers that have come to help save Ak'Anon, all of Norrath really, from Meldrath. That's very good of you. I apologize for not greeting you properly, but at the moment I can [not stand], though if I could I would not be here to greet you at all.''

    You say, 'Not stand?'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Ah, well, I was injured when the Albatross crashed. It seems that, sadly, this might be the [end of the journey] that I started on just a few weeks ago. It seems like years, really. But unlike many stories, this one ends very badly.' Tears well up in his eyes as he speaks, obviously thinking about the things that have transpired during his journey.'

You say, 'End of the journey?'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'I . . . I don't think I can start with the end. Perhaps if I start at the beginning I will be able to tell it through to the end. I guess it begins when Meldrath started his assault on our city. I'm just a lowly engineer, but I've always been good at modification - changing existing equipment to match a new purpose. So when it was decided to refit the prototype digger into a flying machine, I was asked to help out. Of course I jumped at the chance to help save Ak'Anon, after all my family lives, lived, there. Despite the [sacrifices], I was glad to lend my hands to the project.'

    You say, 'Sacrifices?'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Well, once we started work we were at it full time, night and day, for almost a week. When we'd get too tired to work, we'd lie down wherever we were and take naps. I didn't get to see my family at all until the moment we were ready to launch her, and only then for a brief moment. A [moment] I'll never forget as long as I live.'

    You say, 'A moment?'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'It was decided that most of the engineers that worked on the retrofit would need to be aboard when she launched. We were the only ones that knew how she worked and would be the only ones that could fix her in an emergency. They sent for our families as we prepared for launch. I had only a moment to speak with my wife and daughter, we needed to launch immediately.' He pauses to gather himself. 'I can see them now. Miria pretending to run full speed because little Lumperia insisted on coming to see me [on her own] two feet. She was so happy to see me. I'm sorry. . .' he sputters, holding back tears that prevent him from speaking.'

    You say, 'On her own?'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'She was always precocious. From the moment she learned to walk she never stopped. I should have known better, insisted that Miria hold on to her. But her giggles made me forget my worries for a moment. I told her, 'I have to go, my little Lumpling. I have to help with the machine. I'm going up into the sky, but I'll be back soon.' She was delighted, 'The sky! I want to go with you daddy!'. I told her she couldn't go. I offered to take her with me next time. But she never did accept no as an answer. I wiped the tears from my wife's eyes, kissed them both and walked to the ship. I knew that if I looked back I'd never make it. I guess Miria [lost track] of our daughter in the crowd of well-wishers.'

    You say, 'Lost track?'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'I can't say for sure what happened. Lumperia was, is, a clever girl. She probably noticed the men loading boxes onto the Albatross and hid in one. She always was good at hide and find.' Again he stops to wipe tears from his eyes and let his voice clear. 'It wasn't until long after we crashed that someone found her doll among the cargo. I couldn't search for her very well with these legs. 'He slaps his broken legs, the pain seeming to help him avoid thinking about his loss. 'Everyone tried to find her, but she wasn't on the ship or nearby. I tried to get out to [search for her], but they won't let me. The crew has sent parties looking for her, but they haven't found her. I hate to believe it, but she is lost to me.' His crying is unstoppable now.'

You say, 'I will search for her'

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Would you help find her? I know this is a lot to ask, and I have little to offer you beyond my thanks. But she is only five years old. She should not be left up here, even if she has been killed. I'm not at all sure how to begin looking for her, though. I've had plenty of time to think about it, and the only idea I have is to find someone or something that can track by scent. Surely she smells differently than the steamworks that lurk about here. Please, find someone that can help find my little Lumpling.'

You have been assigned the task 'Lost Lumpling'.

Lamperious has asked for you to help find his daughter. She stowed away on the Albatross sometime before she launched and hasn't been seen since.

Lamperious has this crazy idea that you might be able to track Lumperia by scent if you had the right animal. He's desperate and somewhat incoherent, but this is the only idea he has to work with. See if you can find some sort of animal that can hunt by scent, or someone who knows how to find one. Surely someone will help you when you tell them the tale of poor lost "Lumpling".

Find an animal that can track really well or someone who knows such an animal 0/1 (ALL)

See Derek Wolfblood in the Dragonscale Hills (far northeastern corner of the zone, next to the cannon.

    You say, 'Lost lumpling'

You receive a Small Rabbit Fur Pouch (identifies as "Soft and furry"), a 4-slot container.

Derek Wolfblood listens intently as you describe the fate of the lost child and the grief of her father. He looks at you for a long moment after you have finished, and the says, 'I believe that I can help you. I know of a wolf spirit that might be convinced to track this child for you. He is called Bloodwolf. However, this spirit is not easily appeased and must be cajoled into this world with things that appeal to his senses. Once here I have no doubt that he will assist you, for he is a noble spirit guide, but it will take [some effort] to bring him to you.

    You say, 'some effort'

Derek Wolfblood says, 'You will need to gather several items to place into the pouch. These must be items that will appeal to Bloodwolf's senses and desires. I know for certain that his favorite meal is the meat of the Nightmare, so a fresh bit of that would be good. I also know that he despises the undead. Please, don't confuse a spirit guide with an undead, especially in his presense So if you place a small bit of very old unliving flelsh in the pouch, that will certainly help get his attention. I hear that there are werewolves in these parts. Such a beast must have a very strong scent of both wolf and man. Put a small amount of the blood of one of these werewolves into the pouch as well. Lastly, you must defeat the leader of one of the worg packs and take one of its scent glands. This will challenge Bloodwolf, for he considers the worgs to be his enemies and will meet any challenge from them. When you have completed the pouch, seal it. Then go to the one you call Lumperious and crush the pouch. Bloodwolf will come,'

  • Loot 1 Nightmare Haunch 0/1 (Loping Plains)

  • Loot 1 Ancient Animated Flesh 0/1 (Hills of Shade)

  • Loot 1 Bloody Shadowmane Fur 0/1 (Loping Plains)

  • Loot 1 Worg Scent Gland 0/1 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • Create 1 Bloodwolf Spirit Pouch using tradeskills 0/1 (ALL)

Combine the 4 items in the Small Rabbit Fur Pouch.

  • Bring Bloodwolf's Spirit Pouch to a place near Lamperious 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Go in the tent with Lamperious and stand next to him to get the task update.

  • Crush Bloodwolf's Spirit Pouch near Lamperious 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Right click the Spirit Pouch and Bloodwolf will spawn. The task updates.

  • Follow Bloodwolf 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Bloodwolf says 'Well, you have my attention, _____. I know what it is that you seek, and I believe that I can find her for you. When you are ready we shall leave. Just give me that pouch and I shall lead you. But understand this, once I begin I will not stop. If you can not keep up, then your opportunity will pass.'

    Give Bloodwolf the pouch.

Bloodwolf says 'We go then. The trail is faint, so I will need to concentrate. Do not allow my physical form to be destroyed.'

Bloodwolf will move towards the the elevators stopping a couple of times en route with the emote:

    Bloodwolf sniffs the air.

The pathing is a little strange, but it makes it possible to avoid the named gnome (Bablage, Master Lifter) that can spawn along the path. When it reaches the elevator:

Bloodwolf says 'The trail leads upward. Follow me if you can.'

Take the elevator up to the next level.

Once on the next level Bloodwolf starts heading east, stopping a few more times times with the same "Bloodwolf sniffs the air." emote. About halfway back, it will stop and emote:

Bloodwolf says 'Be wary, I smell trouble.'

Two steamwork hunters will spawn from behind and attack. Kill them to continue. Once they are dead Bloodwolf resumes his path. Near the front of the garden hut furthest back on the right side,it stops and emotes again:

Bloodwolf says 'Be wary, I smell trouble.'

Rusty spiderlings rush out of the hut and attack. Once they are dead:

Bloodwolf says 'The trail ends near here. I can no longer follow it because it merges with another scent that is far stronger. Seek the source of that scent and you may find what you seek. It is inside this structure.'

Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.

  • Find the source of the smell 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Inside the hut that the spiderlings came from will be a red con truculent ooze. Kill it to get the next update.

  • See if the ooze has any clues about the lost girl 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Loot a Small Ornate Copper Ring from the truculent ooze for the update.

  • Deliver 1 Small Ornate Copper Ring to Lamperious 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Run back to Lamperious and give him the copper ring for the update.

  • Seek any clues you can find in the area where you found the ring 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Oh, no.' Lamperious crumples with the weight of dread. 'She, she must have dropped it, that's all. She just dropped it! Please, please find her. Perhaps there is a clue to be found near where you found this ring?'

In the hut across the path from where the ooze was (/location 480, -720, 480), find a steamwork gardener.

    You say, 'lumpling'

A steamwork gardener says, 'I don't know what you're talking about! Help! Help!'
    A rusty spiderling says, 'Intruder!'
    A rusty spiderling says, 'Intruder!'
    A rusty spiderling says, 'Intruder!'

3x "a rusty spiderling" aggro and must be killed. Once they are dead, /say "Lumpling" to the gardener again for the update..

    You say, 'lumpling'

A steamwork gardener says, 'Look, I heard this song in the tunnels, the ones under us, the place called the steam factory. I have no idea who was singing it, but I can tell you it wasn't a steamwork. I've got to go and change my oil now.'

  • Find the source of the song in the Steam Factory 0/1 (The Steam Factory)

NOTE 1: If the person doing this step dies at any point, you have to start the step over. You'll have to repeat this entire process for each person in the group who needs the step update.

NOTE 2: This step appears to be a bit bugged. If you don't get emotes in the right /loc you have to start over from the first emote /loc, just zone and come back. Luckily this is a quick step, you can do them with invis up and drop it just to clear rooms and fight the quest mobs.

Use the Steam Factory entrance that is closest to the quest mobs in Fort Mech. Once you arrive, have your group set up in the hall immediately to the north of the entry.

Take the hallway to the south until you come to a room where the hall becomes a bridge over a larger room. Jump off and move to -415, -640, 10 (near the brownie tunnel under the bridge). You will see, in yellow text:

A few words drift to your ears from the north east. They are faint, but you make out the words 'buy you a shiny copper ring' and you can tell by the rhythm of the words that they are being sung.

Go back up the elevator and head back toward the entrance, but take the short hall to the East just before the zone-in room door. In the center of that room (about -10, -975, 120) you will see in yellow text:

You thought you heard a something like singing, but it is drowned out by a horrible racket coming from the hallway.

At this point 2x "a steamwork musician" spawn. After they spawn, they will wander about and make annoying noises:

a steamwork musician bangs its hands on its chest like a drum, but with little rhythm.
a steamwork musician grinds out some noises with its jaw that sound like nails on a chalkboard..
a steamwork musician plays its instrument, if you call that playing.

They will wander around between this room, the entry room, and the hall directly south of it. They are not leashed (can be single). They are level 85 rogues that hit for a max ~6,000 and backstab for ~20,000. They are also mezzable.

Once they're dead, return to the room and same location (-10, -975, 120) for the next emote. You will see in yellow text:

You distinctly hear a snippet of song coming from the west. The words come and go quickly, as if the singer momentarily spoke into you [sic] ear. The words you heard were, 'Winter is cold, but fire can sting.'

For the next emote, head west toward the mining area. The next update happens one room north and one room east of the mining area, at around 30, -130, 125. Again, in yellow text:

You hear a [sic] several muffled words, but can understand only a few. You think you heard 'fly', 'wing' and 'Lumpling'. You think the voice was moving to the west.

Then, move west to the room directly north of the mining area. The emote occurs just outside the brownie tunnel at 20, 125, 85. Before triggering this emote, it is advisable to clear the room of mobs. Once you trigger the emote, you'll see:

You may have heard singing, but you will never be able to pinpoint its direction with all the noise going around you.

Three minotaurs will spawn: "a slavemaster" and two of "a slaver." They are leashed together, and will wander around between the platform in the mining area and the hallway just north of it. As they wander, they will argue:

a slavemaster says 'You're wrong! Just admit it.'
a slaver says 'No, you're wrong!'
a slaver says 'You're wrong! Just admit it.'
a slavemaster says 'No, you're wrong!'

The slavemaster is level 85 while the other two are dark blue to 85. They are all mezzable. The slavers hit for ~3,000 while the slavemaster hits for ~7,000. None of them see invisible.

One strategy is to stand in the hallway between the update room and the mines (at around -120, +100) with invisibility. When they path near, have a cleric use invulnerability to get their attention, and then an enchanter AE mez.

After you kill them, return to the previous location (20, 125, 85) to see the following:

'. . . And who could sing if they knew not my . . .' The song fades. The voice singing it seemed small and tiny, as though a halfling were speaking to you through a long tube. You are certain that it came from the south east.

Now, head into the mine and toward the brownie tunnel. (This brownie tunnel connects the mines to the room with the first update. It's not on the EQ-Toolbox map.) At about -465, -125, -13, you will see:

You see a decrepit old minotaur who appears to be singing an odd song to himself in a deep and crackling voice.

At this point, "an aged minotaur" spawns just north of the tunnel against the east wall. He cons yellow to a level 85. He will sing to himself:

an aged minotaur says 'You'll make such a tasty snack thing, yummy juicy Lumpling.'
an aged minotaur says 'I'll make you a toy and a swing. we can play together my Lumpling.'
an aged minotaur says 'Some day you'll make me an emperor or a king, such a tasty Lumpling.'
an aged minotaur says 'Plump little Lumpling. Tasty tender little Lumpling.'

Fight the minotaur down to 35%. At that point he will go inactive and unattackable:

an aged minotaur says 'Stop! Stop! What is it you want with me?'

    You say, 'Where is Lumpling?'

Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.

an aged minotaur says 'I didn't know Slime could speak common..go back to the sewer before I lose my temper.'

an aged minotaur says 'You'll make such a tasty snack thing, yummy juicy Lumpling.'

  • Find a brownie that can help you 0/1 (The Steam Factory)

You have heard that some of the brownies have rebelled against Meldrath, so perhaps they will be friendly to you.

Jemi is in the Steam Factory in the Brownie Rebel Camp which is one room North and through the brownie tunnel to the West from the mines where the previous quest ended. Her /loc is -57.69, 494.41

    You say, 'Hail, Jemi'

Jemi says 'Well hello. You look a bit out of place here, but that's fine with me. You don't smell of oil and grease, and you don't sound like creaking metal. That makes you good people in my book.

    You say, 'Where is Lumpling?'

Jemi says 'You want to know where that song comes from? I know. But I don't trust you, yet. If you do something for me, I'll tell you where you can find the source of that song. I just need you to kill one gnome for me. That's not much! Are you [up for the job]?'

You say, 'I'm up for the job.'

Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.

Jemi says, 'I don't think you are, but I'll send you out anyway. If you die I lose nothing. You'll want a few friends to take this guy on. His name is Ignorant, or Ungracious. . . something like that. He's the one the [sic] builds the spiders and sends them into our warrens to hunt us down. Kill him and bring back his tools, the ones he uses to build the spiders, and I'll tell you where that song comes from. Let me know when you are [ready to go] and I can help you get where you need to go.'

You have been assigned the task 'Kill Ungracious'.

  • Kill 1 Ungracious 0/1 (S.H.I.P. Workshop)

Whoever this Ungracious is he sounds pretty unpleasant. Bring back his toolkit to prove that you have defeated him.

This step takes place in an instanced version of the S.H.I.P. Workshop (standard six-hour group task, 1-6 players). Say "ready to go" to Jemi to zone in.

You say, 'I am ready to go.'

Jemi says 'I know a secret way in. I shall send you there now.'

Note: You can avoid most trash killing by running through the zone non-KOS with Mazicul's Magical Makeup (from the first S.H.I.P. group mission). If you don't use this method, just keep an eye out for see invis mobs (mostly strikers) and you won't have to kill too many.

Head to the floor second from the top. In the north bubble of this floor, you will find Ignacious Spingoggle and 5x "a steamwork duct hunter". He spawns at 845, 600, 350. This is the same bubble as Head Scientist Twiner in the non-instanced Worshop. Ignacious is yellow to level 85, the duct hunters are light blue (but hit for ~5,000). The rest of this bubble is empty.

  • Loot 1 Tiny Toolkit 0/1 (The Steam Factory)

  • Deliver 1 Tiny Toolkit to Jemi 0/1 (The Steam Factory)

There is a small pipe right beside her that you can duck into -- it conveniently zones you out to Fort Mech right behind the building with your next kill of Veltar the Aged.

Jemi says, 'Well, you did it. I'm impressed. That gnome and his spiders were one tough bunch. I'll tell you what you need to know, hopefully you won't be too late. There is a gnome girl being held hostage in the building near the chain that hooks to that crazy tower. She is being held by a powerful minotaur who called Veltar. He was once the leader of Meldrath's slavers but was allowed to retire due to his age. He's very, very evil, extremely tricky and horribly dangerous.'

  • Kill 1 Retired slave master 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

The retired slave master is in the locked building near the Steam Factory entrance on the west side of the zone (towards S.H.I.P. Workshop). You can get aggro from mobs through the locked doors. Trash mobs will open the door at which point you can aggro the named.

Veltar the Aged is level 86+. Kill him for the update.

Anyone in your group at this step in the task can get this update in one kill.

Veltar the Aged says, 'Last time we fought I chose to let you win to save my strength. This time, you will die.'

  • Speak with Lamperious 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

    You say, 'Hail, Lamperious Cogwittle'

You have rescued a child from great peril.

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'You did it! She came running back here, crying but alive. Thank you so much! You've saved the love of my life, my little Lumpling!'

Seek any clues you can find in the area where you found the ring 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Oh, no.' Lamperious crumples with the weight of dread. 'She, she must have dropped it, that's all. She just dropped it! Please, please find her. Perhaps there is a clue to be found near where you found this ring?'

Back in the hut you were just in a gardener should spawn (minotaur model instead of the steamwork model).

This is incorrect. The gardener will spawn in the ADJACENT hut, and it's a clockwork model. Called "A Clockwork Gardener" IIRC. You /say Lumpling to him, and he will call for help. 4 (I think) spider clockworks will spawn, kill them, and hail the gardener again for update.

I confirm JaeJae's account. The only correction is that it is 3x 'a rusty spiderling's that spawn. Also it's not the adjacent hut, but rather the hut closest to this on the other side of the path, ie at loc 480, -720, 480.

Jae Jae's post is correct. It is the hut across the road from where the ooze spawned. 3X " a rusty spiderling" spawn after you hail the clockwork gardener and tell him "lumpling?'. Kill the spiders and hail him again for the update.

SoF released some of the buggiest and most pinpoint location updates ever. If people say the update is around -465, -125, -13 to get the aged minotaur to spawn, they need to be more specific down to the exact decimals. Wife and I (95th mage and 95th monk) are in the mines at the brownie tunnel and have cleared and explored the entire area and have been to that coordinate many times. Well into an hour at this area and it just won't update. I've petitioned and posted in EQ's main forums for help. Any suggesions?

Bloodwolf works...you just have to wait a while as it is "timed" according to SOF days of time to kill mobs...now you kill em faster and have to sit a while for the update.

For the SHIP step, quickest way to the room is to take the elvator on the backside of the SHIP from zone in - it goes right to the level you need to be on.

Warning, as of date posted this quest could be bugged or buggy. Got to the bloodwolf part and he made it to the end (although very glitchy and jumpy) and after the kills I didn't get any kind of update or reaction. Don't think I'm up for gathering stuff again for another try=/

Better late than never. Go back to Derek Wolfblood in DSH and say lumpling and he will give you his Bloodwolf Spirit Pouch if you already made one.

RE: Kill 1 Retired slave master 0/1 (Fortress Mechanotus)

This guy, along with several mezzable zone trash MOB's, is in the locked building near the STEAM entrance on the west side of the zone (towards SHIP). we managed to aggro through the doors which the MOB's then opened to attack us and pulled the target out.

The MOB is named, "Veltar the Aged" and is a yellow con at 85.
    Kill him for the update.

As a side note, you will see the lost lumping, aka "Lumperia" appear and run off to "Daddy!"

Lastly, everyone at this step can get credit at the same time for the one kill.

    RE: Kill 1 Ungracious 0/1 (S.H.I.P. Workshop)

To be clear, this is an instanced zone and your group is actually assigned a group mission for it.

It is a relatively quick one as well and the only step is to kill the named (Lumpling step says kill "Ungracious" -- but the MOB is actually named "Ignacious Spingoggle" (yellow con at 85).

On the way to the fight, just watch for see invis (mostly Strikers) and you will have to fight very few if any zone trash.

Zone in, ride the elevator up, run up the ramp, then veer left and 2nd door on right to go up inner ramp.
go in and left and ... I believe it was the 2nd door on the right.

The named (Ignacious) ahd five 'a steamwork duct hunter" around him. They are light blue at 85, but can hit near 5K. Mezz them, kill the named and then you can just leave them or kill them. Don't forget to loot the Tiny Toolkit (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=88285)! Ony one drops, so you will have to do this for each person who needs it.

Related zones: STEAM FACTORY & SHIP: LOST LUMPLING (instance) & FORTRESS MECHANOTUS.

Related MOB's: a steamwork musician, Ignacious Spingoggle, a steamwork duct hunter, a slaver and a slavemaster.

The step called, "Find the source of the song in the Steam Factory 0/1 (The Steam Factory)" is rather a convoluted process.

To clarify what Allakhazam curently has above, first off... if the person doing the task dies/zones, it resets and you have to start over. Also, if more than one person has this task, do them one at a time.

This step is also multi-facted as follows:

    a) EMOTE: LOC is at n415 n640 is near the brownie tunnel under the "bridge" -- to use the elevator back up, click the floor near the controls.

    b) EMOTE/SPAWN: The update at n10 n975 is also near the brownie tunnel in that room; you can be invis and not get aggro, but the LOC update is hard to get sometimes... just keep moving about the area.

    c) Two (2) "a clockwork musician" (Level 85) should have spawned from step b (and you do need to kill them)... they will roam the hall back and forth out side the room... go left out of the room back towards the bridge. Here the hall way is clear of MOB's and the musicians dont roam that far... their paths will take them apart from each other so you can tag them solo and kill them solo.

    d) EMOTE: After they are dead go back in that same room and same LOC for another emote.

    e) EMOTE: The next emote is near yet another brownie tunnel (p30, n130) and can also be hard to get

    f) I advise clearing the next room before you go to the next LOC (or you may be dealing with the spawns and the entrie room as well); once clear stay in that tunnel before the room.

    g) EMOTE/SPAWN; Next LOC p20, p125 is, yes, near the brownie tunnel; it will spawn "a slavemaster" (Level 85) and two (2) "a slaver" (blue cons at 85), who will walk up from mine area. They seem to be aggro-linked. You need to kill them.

    h) EMOTE: Hit the same LOC as you just did in step g.

    i) Go into the mine, float off to left and clear that dead end tunnel there. Then pull and clear the rocks area, just out and left of that same dead-end.

    j) ENOTE/SPAWN: Now have person with task run to left towards the brownie tunnel there (LOC p465, n125) and this will spawn "an aged minotaur" (yellow con at Level 85) at thsoe rocks you just cleared.

    k) Pull him and fight him. At 35-30% he will stop fighting and ask what you want. Say to him, "Where is lumpling?" for the update (Finally!)

There is a problem, however, if you spawn him and die (reset).

He STAYS up! It then becomes hard to tell which one is the "new" spawn if you try again (from the start)... and they will both aggro. I reported this as a bug, so maybe they will cause him to despawn when it resets.

If you fail at the spiderlings and they depop on you, to get them to pop again you will need to zone out so the gardener depops. Then find the minotaur gardener on the other end, say lumpling to him, and the mech gardener who sings will pop again, that's how I did it anyway because it doesn't pop on its own.

(picking back up during the fight with Ignacious)

Correction to earlier post: the actual name of the spiders in this step is "a steamwork duct hunter"

Periodically during the fight, Ignacious will emote:

Ignacious Spingoggle says 'Grow my spiders!'

    And, after a moment:

a steamwork duct hunter grows stronger!

The spiders will get physically larger when this happens, and hit harder as well. Hits from enhanced spiders can ramp up to 5k or more.

The spiders are mezzable and charmable. Ignacious is also mezzable. It is possible that all of them are leashed to the room (Unconfirmed. After all six had lost aggro and returned home, after a minute or so they all respawned in place.)

Loot 1 Tiny Tool Kit (0/1)S.H.I.P Workshop

Ignacious only drops a single toolkit.

Deliver 1 Tiny Tool Kit to Jemi (0/1) The Steam Factory

He was unpleasant! Hopefully this tiny little toolkit is what the brownie wanted.

    Upon turning in the toolkit:

Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.
Jemi says 'Well, you did it. I'm impressed. That gnome and his spiders were one tough bunch. I'll tell you what you need to know, hopefully you won't be too late. There is a gnome girl being held hostage in the building near the chain that hooks to that crazy tower. She is being held by a powerful minotaur who called [sic] Veltar. He was once the leader of Meldrath's slavers but was allowed to retire due to his age. He's very, very evil, extremely tricky and horribly dangerous.'

Kill 1 retired slave master (0/1) Fortress Mechanotus

If this minotaur survived to old age as a leader of the deadly slavers that Meldrath controls, then he won't be easy to kill.

Note of Interest: There is an invisible but targetable trigger point called "veltar spawner" in Fortress Mechanotus. I didn't note where it was exactly, but it was targetable in front of the small building on the west side of the zone with the tiny pipe that sucks you to the Rebel Brownie camp.

When you get close enough, Veltar the Aged will spawn on the inside of the building, standing over Lumperia in the front right corner. The door of this building is at +0, +1260, +395; you'll probably want to clear the building or have a fade puller.

Veltar will be singing his song:

Veltar the Aged says 'Plump little Lumpling. Tasty tender little Lumpling.'
Veltar the Aged says 'No matter where I go, I sing. All because of my little Lumpling.'
Veltar the aged says 'Someday you

Veltar is yellow to 85. He is partially slowable and mezzable (for 82+ enchanters). He periodically uses a silence, among other effects (did not get their names). The effects appeared to be single target.

Veltar the Aged roars in anger and charges. (aggro message)

Veltar the Aged makes a clever feint, leaving him in a good striking position. (message with one of his abilities, not sure which).

Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.
    You gain party experience!
Veltar the Aged's corpse crashes to the ground.
Veltar the Aged has been slain by ______!

Speak with Lamperious (0/1) Fortress Mechanotus

You are certain now that the minotaur you just defeated was the one you met in the tunnels earlier. You killed him, but the little girl ran off before you could rescue her. Obviously you looked pretty scary with all that minotaur blood on you.

    You say, 'Hail, Lamperious Cogwittle'
Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.
(yellow text) You have rescued a child from great peril.
Lamperious Cogwittle says 'You did it! She came running back here, crying but alive. Thank you so much! You've saved the love of my life, my little Lumpling!'

This is inaccurate. I don't have exact text, unfortunately.

A gardener spawns in the hut across the path from the truculent ooze. It IS a steamwork model, and it's singing about Lumpling. Ask it about "Lumpling," and it will tell you to leave it alone and cry for help. Four clockwork spiders (don't have exact name, dark blue to 85) spawn and attack you, so it's wise to have the area cleared first. After you kill all the spiders, hail the gardener again for the update.

I just got to this part, and buffs ran out, merc died during the spiderlings so I had to fd. The spiderlings pathed away and depopped. I cleared the room again, but the spiderlings would not repop when I gave the command. I zoned out and back in to find the gardener gone. So I went and talked to derek to get a new pouch and he refuses to supply me wiht one. Do I have to start over completely?

Just checked on my cleric, there are exactly six steps after "Find the source of the song..." so, no.

    -----

You might also want to add a few notes in the relevant portions of the walkthrough:

Worg Scent Glands only drop from armored worgs. While they are relatively common drops from the armored worgs, there are only three of them in non-instanced Bloodmoon and in inconvenient spots. They also drop in the instanced 12-person raid, "Moonfang."

If Bloodwolf dies before you get the update, you can ask Derek Bloodwolf about "Lumpling" again to get a new, completed Spirit Pouch.

Find the source of the song in the Steam Factory. (0/1)

Use the Steam Factory entrance that is closest to the quest mobs in Fort Mech to enter Steam Factory. Once you arrive, have the group set up in the hall immediately to the North of the entry.

Take the hallway to the South until you come to a room where the hall becomes a bridge over a larger room. Jump off and move to -415, -640, 10.

In the center of that room, at about -10, -975, 120, you will see in yellow text:

You thought you heard a something like singing, but it is drowned out by a horrible racket coming from the hallway.

At this point two of "a steamwork musician" will spawn. After they spawn, they will wander about and make annoying noises:

"a steamwork musician bangs its hands on its chest like a drum, but with little rhythm."
"a steamwork musician grinds out some noises with its jaw that sound like nails on a chalkboard."
"a steamwork musician plays its instrument, if you call that playing."

They will wander around between this room, the entry room, and the hall directly south of it. They are not leashed. They are level 85 rogues that hit for a maximum of about 6k (5560 on a sitting cleric with Vie), and backstab for...a lot more. (19672 on that same cleric; I also saw a 16k backstab while pulling). They are not leashed, and can be singled. They are also mezzable, thanks to SoD's level cap increase.

Note that these can be triggered multiple times by multiple people. On my latest trip to the Steam Factory, there were 8 of them, although we only killed 5-6 before all of them disappeared. At that point, I had to zone out and back in to "reset" this event, then kill two more.

While the raid stands by, you must return to the room with the previous update (-10, -975, 120) for the next update. You will see in yellow text:

You distinctly hear a snippet of song coming from the west. The words come and go quickly, as if the singer momentarily spoke into you [sic] ear. The words you heard were, 'Winter is cold, but fire can sting.'

For the next update, head west toward the mining area.

Just outside the brownie tunnel at 20, 125, 85, you will see:

You may have heard singing, but you will never be able to pinpoint its direction with all the noise going around you.

Three minotaurs will spawn: "a slavemaster" and two of "a slaver." They are leashed together, and will wander around between the platform in the mining area and the hallway just north of it. As they wander, they will argue:

a slavemaster says 'You're wrong! Just admit it.'
a slaver says 'No, you're wrong!'
a slaver says 'You're wrong! Just admit it.'
a slavemaster says 'No, you're wrong!'

Et cetera. Amusingly enough, after two of them were killed, the last slaver continued to argue with himself.

The slavemaster is level 85, the other two are dark blue to 85. Again, thanks to the level cap increase, all three are now mezzable. The slavers hit for around 3k, maybe a bit more, similar to other trash in the Steam Factory. The slavemaster hits for close to 7k. None of them see invisible.

Our strategy for this was to stand in the hallway between the update room and the mines at around -120, +100 invisibly. When they pathed near, the cleric used invulnerability to get their attention, then the enchanter dropped an AE mez on them.

After you dispatch them, return to the previous location (20, 125, 85) to see the following:

At this point, "an aged minotaur" will spawn just north of the tunnel against the east wall.

Your task 'Lost Lumpling' has been updated.
an aged minotaur says 'I didn't know Slime could speak common..go back to the sewer before I lose my temper.' (standard low faction response)
an aged minotaur says 'You'll make such a tasty snack thing, yummy juicy Lumpling.'

Jemi says 'I know a secret way in. I shall send you there now.'

The Shared Task, "Kill Ungracious," is a standard six-hour group task (minimum size 1) in an instance of the S.H.I.P. workshop. There is only one task step:

    Kill 1 Ungracious (0/1) S.H.I.P. Workshop

Before doing this task, you should complete the first S.H.I.P. group mission to obtain Mazicul's Magical Makeup, and cast it on your group.

Head to the floor second from the top. In the north bubble of this floor, you will find Ignacious Spingoggle and five "a steamwork ductcrawler." He spawns at 845, 600, 350. This is the same bubble as Head Scientist Twiner in the non-instanced Worshop. Ignacious is yellow to level 85, the ductcrawlers are light blue. The rest of this bubble is empty.

What is the dang keyword for the aged mino after he becomes inactive?? Lumpling isn't it, or anything along the lines of his text. He eventually starts to sing a lumpling song, but doesn't say or respond to anything after that. He becomes inactive at 34 percent health. He regens quickly and after a point he wont sing anymore and it all starts over.

Bring Bloodwolf's Spirit Pouch to a place near Lamperious (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Go in the tent with Lamperious and stand next to him to get the task update.

Crush Bloodwolf's Spirit Pouch near Lamperious (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Right click the Spirit pouch and Bloodwolf will spawn. Task updates.

Follow Bloodwolf (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Bloodwolf says 'Well, you have my attention, Sallaanu.

The pathing is a little strange, but it makes it possible to avoid the named gnome (Bablage, Master Lifter??) that can spawn along the path.

Find the source of the smell (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Inside the hut that the spiderlings came from will be a red con truculent ooze. Kill it to get the next update.

See if the ooze has any clues about the lost girl (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Loot a Small Ornate Copper Ring from the truculent ooze for the update.

Deliver 1 Small Ornate Copper Ring to Lamperious (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Run back to Lamperious and give him the copper ring for the update.

Seek any clues you can find in the area where you found the ring (0/1) - Fortress Mechanotus

Lamperious Cogwittle says 'Oh, no.' Lamperious crumples with the weight of dread. 'She, she must have dropped it, that's all. She just dropped it! Please, please find her. Perhaps there is a clue to be found near where you found this ring?'

Back in the hut you were just in a gardener should spawn (minotaur model instead of the steamwork model)

    ***********************************
Stuck here at the moment. We killed the gardener and there wasn't anything special said when it died or any unique loot on the corpse. Later a gnomework model "a gardener" spawned but after watching it for a few minutes it didn't do anything that updated the task. We'll try to update this when we get another worg scent gland to drop in Bloodmoon (IMO the rarity of the drop makes this the hardest part of the quest so far...)

I just finished it and believe me mobs are teh hardest i have found in this extension except for boss raid mobs like tinkerson (OK i am just knight can be better with a def warrior).... they hit HARD. With a group of MMM geared we barely did it for all including a good number of wipe. The real reward is rk3 spells for those who have spell on akanon faction.
The key word whenever one is asked is lumpligs. I write it from memory after spending the week doing it for our group. I was the tank 33Khp 5500 AC knight witha cle and enc in group (and bst+ 2 wz for dps). I did not ask but knowing the enc any mob who could be slowed was slowed on incoming ;)
    So in short

    0) FM/spider ozze see the other posts. jsuta warning 1 ooze will pop for each toon at this step.... so we got 4 ooze one on each other but they could be snared and FD split ;)

    1) after FM spider/ooze part see post above. you go back to lamperious that make a gardener pop in the room beside the one where you pulled ooze.
Clear the room say keyword that make spiders (not hard) pop (4 I think). Kill say keyword again get flag go back to lumpling. spiders are mezzable and do not hit hard.
    2) SF part:
There are 3 sub part in this one and we had difficulties to figure it. AFIK you had to do the 3 part without zoning/evacing/dying before getting the flag.
For each part get emotes, pop mob kill mob get emote for the direction of next part. If anything fail (evac, zone out dying), just zone out, come back , clear any remaining mobs of the previous attempt and restart from the start (if there is an easier way we did not find it and we did it 4 times successfuly .... and many times unsuccssefuly)
    a) SF ZI pop 2 musisians (the ZI where evac spot is)
From ZI go SOUTH the musicians will pop in this corridor (and can aggro people who zone in or evac ....) the small room EAST is where the 2nd emote is near entrance (get invi no need to clear) the 1st emote is farthest south in the big room with a bridge in it. get lev go under the bridge the 1st emote is near the brownie corridor.
Once you get the first 2 emote the 2 musicians pop.they CAN be FD split, are snarable and hit HARD but managed easily (be ready to rezz people who soned in without invi while you were killing the 1st). They are RED and non mezzable.
Go get teh 3rd emotes where you get the 2nd (invi ) you do not get any update but can pop following mob.

    b) Corridor going to mine (where behemoth pop) North of mine.
The 3 minos (1 red 2 whites) pop and roam the corridor and they are linked.
From the mine see the corridor north he arrive in a small room with a corridor going east (and a brwonie tunnel going west). make camp in the corridor going east. Pull the small room. Send someone not at this stage for pull btw. Pull the static mino and the roamer at the exit of the corridor in the mine (they will add believe me).
1 st emote is somewhere in the small room (roam a lot near middle or brownie entrance) some of use got a previous one in the room before (east) but i did not. That make the minos pop

The 2 white minos are mezzable and should be ASAP, the red one hit HARDER than the musician (got killed/DI everytime there was a resist on mezz to give you an idea with tribute+ disc+ faycite up) . They are really linked if one of them is far away he will train everything on his way to you []you have been warned[/]. None of them see invi (so make camp in the small room if you prefer). once dead roam the samall room again and get emote saying to go south.

    c) MIne old mino.
From previous mine entrance. enter mine. take left follow the way down (careful a red named mino seeing invi can pop at the bottom of the ramp... this one is easy beside KB and blind if i remeber correctly). the old mino pop near on the east wall. As usual go invi to brownie tunnel entrance and that make him pop. Named was easy just clear a bit around or get a CC. AT 20 (25?) he become non targettable say the key word and get flag.

    3) SHIP part.
you have to go the the brownie rebel camp in SF. The ship part is an instance you get from the brwonie (he will give you the keyword).
In instance go to the back door elevator (no mobs on ground floor in this instance). Take elevator carefuly 2 mobs are at elevator end and they can see invi (did once on 4 trys). then take the door to the corridor, take right, take 1st door on your right the named is at the end of the corridor with some spiders adds. (corridor going there is safe, previous corridor can have see invi roamers).
The gnome red named is the hardest mob (owned us once and killed me twice with everything up), he just hit HARD. Spiders can be easily mezzed , we did not try to split and we heard that spider were repoping so we just burned named before killing the spiders. There is ONE drop to loot on the named (so you need to start again the instance as many time as you have people who do the task).

    4) retired mino. he is in FM in the small house near the 2nd SF entrance.
He ae silence, blind proc and shdowstep itself, there are 6 steamwork inside teh house with him. We pulled adds then him easily (I did not figure how the door works ... if you cannot enter try again later or ask soemone else to open it nothing see invi including named). The mino pop on the right when you enter and is easy (blind + shadow step means he will hit you from behind but easy nevertheless ). We pulled him behind the house. And the kill flagged everyone who was at this step (we had 2 peopel at this step each time and we did not get any double named pop and each time the 2 people needing the kill got flagged).

Kill the 2 hunters (yellow to 80), short pause and Bloodwolf moves on to last building. Had 5 spiders spawn (blue cons)hit about 1809 top. If Bloodwolf dies = fail. Otherwise after killing spiders short pause task updates.

If you fail, do not drop quest. Go back to Derek Wolfblood and tell him "lumpling" for a new pouch (no need to recollect the heinous drops).

Ooze (red con) spawns in garden hits above 3k. Wasn't too difficult with me tanking. Drops a copper ring. Loot ring do turn in for next update.

Find a clue in the same area is next update. Stuck here. Gardener says some text about lumpling and our bard said some spiders (yellow con) spawned though i never saw them. Nor was i able to figure out how i spawned them again.
    fail

if I fail to follow wolfblood do I need to redo step 1?
    woeful risk vs reward :(

Seriously not worth the time,,,reward is a clicky gate that takes you INTO Akanon...

After you follow the bloodwolf you have to find the gardener and kill another set of spiders, and that sends you to the steam factory where you have to start a script and find the source of the music. In the process having to kill 4 - 6k hitting red cons with some adds that spawn when you find the right spots. Once you get the 4th one down to 30% it gates and it sends you to the rebel brownie camp. Which gives you a group task in SHIP where you need to kill a 6k hitter that has 5 linked 4k hitters, and then finally back to fortress to face yet another named hitting for 6k.

If it were a clicky to fortress or loping plains it may be worth the time, but as it is, unless you are a glutton for punishment, don't bother.
    woeful risk vs reward :(

Seems the way they plan on making this worth doing is hiding the group obtainable Rk3's behind it.

    Follow Bloodwolf

You follow the wolf (you can invis, mobs wont attack him), he walks up to elevators, up second floor he goes, and then east on path. You might wanna clear mobs out here first before starting the follow, because 2 steamwork hunters? spawn and jump you. Then he moves to the end, and rusty spiders or such spawn and rush you from the building on the right. I died there.

Does "using tradeskills" mean you combine the four items in the pouch as a no-fail combine to produce the result?
