This task begins with the Patron of the Arts at location 1910, 715, 198 in the Loping Plains.

You say, 'Hail, Patron of the Arts'

Patron of the Arts says 'Greetings _____, my name is Gelandul. Though most know me as the Patron of the Arts. I've returned to the Loping Plains looking for an adventurer to help me [recover] some items from the Festival of Mistwynd. These items are of great importance to Felwithe and Kelethin.'

    You say, 'Recover some items?'

Patron of the Arts says 'Yes, there are some very valuable pieces of arts that were lost the day the festival was corrupted by the evil winds of the Hills of Shade. I fear that losing these arts will lessen the cultural significance of the elven races in Faydwer. They must be recovered. Are you interested in doing some [work] for me?'

You say, 'I am interested in doing some work for you.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Festival of Nightmares'.

Patron of the Arts says 'Very well. The items I require are: Flute of Melodic Wonder, Feathered Drum of the Harvest, Fendarma's Lute, and the Whittled Bone Conductor's Wand. The lute was last seen being used by Fendarma, a very talented minstrel from Kelethin. The Wand was last seen wielded by Averaana, a beautiful and enchanting magician from Felwithe. The other two items must also be at the festival grounds somewhere. Find these items and return them back to me, _____.'

Find the Mistwynd Festival Grounds 0/1 (Loping Plains)

    This step updates around 1290, 1270, 60.

Loot Fendarma's Lute 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Loot this from the Remains of Fendarma (940, 1955, 17), outside the tent where you get the Feathered Drum (see below). It drops 6 each time. It can be rooted and snared.

Loot the Whittled Bone Conductor's Wand 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Loot this from Remains of Averaana (910, 1400, 18). It drops 6 each time. It can be rooted and snared.

Acquire the Flute of Melodic Wonder 0/1 (Loping Plains)

The Flute of Melodic Wonder is a ground spawn between two wagons (one with no wheel and one with all four wheels) at 1075, 1405, 15.

Acquire the Feathered Drum of the Harvest 0/1 (Loping Plains)

The Feathered Drum of the Harvest is a ground spawn at the entrance to a big tent at 1050, 2000, 12.

Return Fendarma's Lute to the Patron of the Arts 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Return the Whittled Bone Conductor's Wand to the Patron of the Arts 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Deliver the Flute of Melodic Wonder to the Patron of the Arts 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Deliver the Feathered Drum of the Harvest to the Patron of the Arts 0/1 (Loping Plains)

The Patron of the Arts tells you, 'Thank you for your assistance. I will be sending these items to Felwithe immediately to be placed on display for all elves to see.'

"The Flute of Melodic Wonder is a ground spawn by some boxes at 1075, 1405, 15."
It is actually between two wagons one with a no wheel and one with all 4 wheels.

= Give these 4 things to the 'Patron of the Arts' guy. That's the completion..
Choose between XP or Faction as a reward. (little difference)
    tada! easy-peasy!
Then wash, rinse, and repeat as desired. =)

    NOTE:
You MUST update 'Find the Mistwynd Festival Grounds' BEFORE looting or the LORE items will not update your task, and you'll have to re-loot.

'Remains of Fendarma' and 'Remains of Averaana' are the names of the two (lvl 78) undead mobs.
    - They - are not ground spawn...

You can re-loot (updates task) from their corpses until they rot or all 6 items are gone. You don't have to re-kill them for any part of this task to update.

The ground spawns are about 0:8:20 - 0:8:40ish minutes respawn.

BTW - you can get to and pickup both of the ground spawns (which getting to - updates 'Find the Mistwynd Festival Grounds') without any invis or invis-vs-undead and without getting aggro'd ... but invis-vs-undead is more comfortable. =)

"Choose between XP or Faction as a reward. (little difference)
    tada! easy-peasy!"

You get both...same with any and all quests. The only reason you can highlight each is to see who the faction part is for. If it is listed as one of the rewards, you get it.
    Not so much faction

    Great quest, but one thing...
    # Feb 15 2008 at 8:03 PM Rating: Decent
This quest is great for factioning for anyone that can snare.

The two nameds are simple kite kills, with more than plenty of kiting room, and no difficult pulls.

The two ground spawns can be gotten to easily with ivu. The problem is... only 1 ground spawn every 9 minutes (about).... yet they have 6 of the other items drop off the mobs... they either need to increase spawn rate of the groundspawns, or have at least 6 of each up at one time.

    911.45, 1403.35, 18.36 for Remains of Averaana.

    942.72, 1957.70, 17.48 for Remains of Fendarma.

No issues at all with Entrap rk. II AA on snare.

Last four task updates are turn-ins of the four items.

I had no trouble snaring the Remains of Averaana. Level 80 Druid using lvl 26 spell ensnare. It did not summon and was less hard than the ghostly remains near by for the Lost Elves task. Like many of the Loping Plains mobs, Root rarely lasted anywhere near a minute so it was an open kiting situation between the Fairgrounds and the lake. It took less than half my Mana (about a 11K mana pool), about 8 - 10 minutes and it showed snare effect at about 11 percent (it might have been 13% - I turned and it was stopped). About that time the canvas ground spawn repopped so I got the last one I needed for the Darwins Award quest and took off back to Dragonscale Hills. This was done in December after Frost Fell started but before the extra XP week started (the days have been blurring a bit :)

I am not sure if the Remains of Fendarma can be snared, but I suspect it can. If you see resisted your spell type msgs, it can be snared, just maybe not by YOU :). If you see "cannot affect changes in run speed", well you are probably screwed if you are a Druid and exodus is not up...:)

Necro snaring worked without a single failure/resist on all the undead.
    All required mobs are snarable.

Ez and quick mission for necros to get Ladies of Light faction.
Lol alot of keeling for a single spell but its a living and we live and die by our spell lists.
