This quest is active during the 2007 holiday season.

Find Zoog, a troll, in the frost giant fortress in the Great Divide near the Spires (/loc?). Santug has cleared out the fortress and turned it into a toy factory. Zoog is located in the main building in the middle of the fortress. At the end of the previous quest, he mentioned that he had [more] work for you to do.

You say, 'More?'

You have been assigned the task 'The Savior of Gemmi Goodkin'.

Speak to Zoog about the missing Snow Dwarf. (0/1) - Great Divide

You say, 'Hail, Zoog'

Zoog says 'You're getting quite the reputation around here as a missing person finder and there has been no shortage of Santug's workers getting kidnapped these days. First Bram vanishes, then Hailie and Kanf, and just yesterday, Santug's lead toymaker [Gemmi] was abducted in broad daylight.'

You say, 'Gemmi?'

Zoog says 'Some rather large creatures made of ice just walked into the workshop and grabbed her. She tried to fight them off but they dragged her away to the southwest. We need someone to [rescue] her ______! Santug will NEVER get his toys made in time without her!'

You say, 'I will rescue her.'

Your task 'The Savior of Gemmi Goodkin' has been updated.

Discover where Gemmi Goodkin has been taken. (0/1) - Great Divide
Kill the guards keeping Gemmi prisoner. (0/3) - Great Divide

Zoog says 'Do you think you could? I wouldn't try it alone ______. I certainly wouldn't want to run into whomever is causing all this ruckus! Someone must really be unhappy with Santug! Please hurry! Santug must have his helpers to finish making all the toys for good little Norrathian girls and boys.'

Gemmi Goodkin is located in the wurm cave complex center zone. She is located in the largest Chamber along the southern wall. You may want to clear out the wurms in the chamber first before hailing Gemmi. You can also kill the guards (are these also "a frostheart snowman?"), but don't hail Gemmi until you are ready. At level 71, the wurms are not a problem, but can be a nuisance when you fight Father Frostheart.

Once you clear the chamber, get close enough to Gemmi to get the task update that you found her. Then kill the guards. When ready, hail Gemmi.

Speak to Gemmi Goodkin. (0/1) - Great Divide

You say, 'Hail, Gemmi Goodkin'

Gemmi Goodkin says 'Thank you! Thank you! I was so scared. I'd love to stay and chat but I think I should be getting back to the workshop now.'

Your task 'The Savior of Gemmi Goodkin' has been updated.

Kill Father Frostheart. (0/1) - Great Divide

As soon as you hail Gemmi, you hear the following.

Father Frostheart shouts 'Norrathians! The time of eternal winter has come and not even Santug Claugg can save you!'

Father Frostheart pops in the middle of the chamber and will not move unless engaged. He does not remain up long and will despawn if not engaged. If this occurs you will have to remove yourself from the task and return to Zoog to get it over again. Luckily, you don't have to do all the rescues over again, just Gemmi. While he is up, no one else may hail Gemmi for a task update (preventing a second instance of Father Frostheart from popping).

Father Frostheart's level is relative to the person who hailed Gemmi. He procs Icicle Spike and is rootable and snareable. After he dies you get a task update. He drops the Red Velvet Ice Skates.

Your task 'The Savior of Gemmi Goodkin' has been updated.

You gain experience!!

You hit Father Frostheart for 88 points of damage.

You have slain Father Frostheart!

--You have looted a Red Velvet Ice Skates.--

Other drops:

Frosty Snow Globe
Icicle Cake

Return to Zoog. (0/1) - Great Divide

You say, 'Hail, Zoog'

Your task 'The Savior of Gemmi Goodkin' has been updated.

You gain experience!!

Zoog says 'Hello ______! Santug and I are so thankful. Because of your help, Santug will be able to deliver his toys on time, and Frostfell is saved.'

Reward is 5 x Potion of Adventure.

Task worked fine on Deember 28th 2008 for a level 85 monk. Boss mob was DB, had ~100Khps and hit for 2-300.

I've tried this task three times so far during December 2008. I missed it back in 2007.

I'm an 83-level ranger - Father Frostheart won't pop for me. Programming doesn't include levels above 80, I'm assuming.

Zott says 'Yes yes, a great bump. Clatter even! Somehow during all the commotion my friend Bram, a toymaker at Santug's workshop, vanished! He was [kidnapped] while we were sleeping!'

You say, 'Kidnapped?'

Zott says 'I didn't get a good look at them. I was hiding under my bed and MUCH too frightened to see anything! The only clue we found was a piece of a map with an X marked near Velketor's Labyrinth, but I'm certainly not going down there. That old wizard is crazy! Perhaps you might [try to find] him?'

I've had to take over her shifts making toys for Santug, and I'm really not happy about it.'

You say, 'missing'

Zobb says 'Yes I said missing. You have wax in your ears or what? A few days ago,
Hailie took a snack break, and just never came back. We searched around, but the

not Kanf. You don't smell like Kanf. Always eating he is. I can smell him coming
a hundred yards away. Come to think of it, I haven't smelled his tubbyness in
several days. I hope he hasn't gotten himself [stuck] again. He's supposed to
be here building toys for Santug!

You say, 'stuck'

Zipp chuckles a bit. "Yes stuck. Many years ago that fat litle dwarf got himself
stuck under a tree and would have certainly died that day had I not come along

be much help with my bad eyes.

You say, 'i will look for him'

Cleric did get interupted once or twice from respawn guards, but rarely.

Father Frostheart hit from anywhere in low 200's to 800 max hit (based on rogues ac), average hit was around 345.

Another waste of time quest...

I was thinking about popping into EQ over the Holidays, just to see what was going on, I remember the first years, when it was something special to log in and spend a few hours playing. The quests back then weren't complicated and gave you a nice reward (something like a slot item...instead of one time use item with 10 or less charges on it).

Then the lame items started to pop, like a wand that did nothing but make you "glisten in ice", or pop off fire works.

Now it's nothing more than a newbie quest for a lame potion, that, as far as the posting goes, either doesn't work, or is so lame it is unnoticeable.

No wonder you hardly see anyone logging in during the holidays (any of them, feel free to pick one or two or three).

Bring back the slot items, like the 100% weight reduction back, or something everyone can use, and won't fade away at the end of the season. So that when February comes rolling around you can brag about doing it, and everyone else who didn't pop in will have to wait until next year to see if they can get it.

Potions....it's like going to a New Years Eve party and there won't be any Champagne to toast with, or worse, the host is a vegetarian and the fondue...well let's just say you're deciding if the cow patties out back might help get the taste out of your mouth.

Either way, I miss the old days, and my old server, where guilds would put on seasonal events, like the running of the gnomes, or scavenger hunts, with rewards of a bag full of stat food and drink, some coin for the bank (for that special armor you were saving for) and maybe a neat weapon or hard to get spell.

Ya those were the days, Hmmmmm....(all those naked gnomes.....)

Anyone else remember them?

Happy Holidays, what ever it is you plan on celebrating, just remember, don't drink and drive through Kelethin in Faydark......the tree's are killer there.

Reward is XP and Potion of Adventure ONLY.

The other noted items (Frosty Snow Globe, Icicle Cake, Red Velvet Ice Skates and so forth) are just POSSIBLE (not definite) drops off related MOB's.

Listing them as a task reward is like listing most any drop as a task reward. they also drop ores, silks, pelts.... why not list them too? (See the point?)

Light blue to 80 beast, max hit was like 520 and misses a lot so very easy to deal with.

However don't take too long to engage Father Frostheart. Just after I popped him, someone pulled a couple of 2005 era mobs into the caves (and died) and I had to run because I couldn't handle all at once. When I came back, he was gone. No one else had been in the zone except for me and a corpse so I know no one killed him while I was away. I figure about 5 minutes total to outrun zone, then return.

If Father Frostheart depops before you finish him, you must redo the quest again. Hailing Gemmi at this point gets no response and doesn't respawn Father so I had to abandon the quest and go back to the quest npc and say "more" to get the quest again.

Whole quest from task one to four are easily soloable as a 72 monk in less than an hour.
Final fight takes a HoT potion and a disc or 2 but he's a standard mob, no summon, no nukes and no nasty surprises.

Forgot to add into this that the task is not repeatable. If you try to get it again, Zoog just sings your praises and smiles.

One other thing that is missing, there are 3 frostheart snowmen guarding Gemmi, you have to kill them before you get the task update to talk to her.
