This group task begins with Overvolt Rigster the IV, a gnome in a camp beside a large catapult east of the zone to the Steamfont Mountains. In order to request this task you must have completed at least one of his solo tasks: Getting That Stabilizer, Mechamatic Spelunking, Modulation!, or The Steamwork You're Looking For.

You say, 'Hail, Overvolt Rigster the IV'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says 'Hi there Lias! I'm Overvolt Rigster, though you probably already know that. My name is echoed in the halls and streets of Ak'Anon and beyond! I've been out here in Dragonscale Hills for what seems like an eternity, trying to find adventurers such as yourself to do [business] with. I need to continue to provide the finest goods to my associates!'

    You say, 'What business?'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says 'Why yes, business! Surely you know what goods I sell and what goods I'm looking for! My merchant-ware is echoed in the halls and streets of Ak'anon of course! I'm looking for other [opportunists] like myself that might be out to make a quick buck or two. Are you one of those?'

    You say, 'opportunists'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says 'Aye! I've got several jobs that I need able bodied adventurers to acquire mechanical parts and supplies so that I can further my trade. Would you be [interested] in acquiring a few items for me? If you've got any friends who may want to help out, I've also got some other specific [jobs] that I need groups of people to do for me.'

    You say, 'What jobs?'

Overvolt Rigster the IV says 'Aye. Since you've explored the Mechamatic Guardian and have acquired some parts for me, it's now time to do some serious jobs for me! For my salvage operations to continue in the Guardian, I need to disrupt operations inside the behemoth, as well as track clockworks and destroy key installations. This should make my salvaging easier! First and foremost, I need you to do a task on the first floor of the Guardian. There is an area on the first floor that appears to be a product recycling and waste disposal station. I have a feeling that if this area is disrupted, that my salvaging operations on that floor will be made easier. Go there now and disrupt the steamwork operations.'

You have been assigned the task 'Disposing of Unwanted Things'.

Enter the Mechamatic Guardian 0/1 (The Mechamatic Guardian)

Destroy steamworks that operate on the first floor 0/25 (The Mechamatic Guardian)

Kill 25 clockworks with "steamwork" in their name.

Defeat the Gyroscopic Reclaimators who control the processing plant 0/3 (The Mechamatic Guardian)

Kill Gyroscopic Reclaimator Azia, Gyroscopic Reclaimator Izah, and Gyroscopic Reclaimator Neza in the room with the metal slimes.

Return to Overvolt Register and report your progress 0/1 (Dragonscale Hills)

You say, 'Hail, Overvolt Rigster the IV'

Your task 'Disposing of Unwanted Things' has been updated.

Overvolt tells you, 'Excellent! I'm sending my salvage bots into the Guardian as we speak to acquire junk steamworks! You might be interested in the next job I've got up for grabs - it entails the [engine room].'

It appears they nerfed using mercs as members after the last patch. They count the merc as members of the group, but they throw in a zero for the level when they compute the average now.

Yikes... they need to just not count them as members. That other way brings down the level average by a lot.

I had a problem with this one, couldn't find all the Steamworks. Did get the one in the oil bath though. /petitioned it and got this reply...

    Greetings Adventurer,

These mobs are not able to be fully tracked by all classes. In fact, the bard track is the one that is not able to fully track these steamworks. If you have any in game issues in the future or you would simply like to contact us, please feel free to send in another petition. Thank you for your patience and take care.

I did this quest twice recently, and ended up petitionning / reporting a bug twice. We killed all steamworks there (got a task update when the count of 25 was reached), but never got any update on the named kills. A GM even popped in the instance the first time I did the mission, told me he couldn't find any evidence I was in the right mission and nicely suggested I might have gotten another mission by mistake, yeah right :-(

we attempted this task yesturday , killed the 3 named and killed all the steamworks in the zone . sadly there were only 24 . had the druid run from one end of the first floor to the other and back and were unable to find a 25th steamwork .

Ive come across a problem where I cant request this task after finishing it the first time. I found that you could finish off "Spelunking" task easy by using a mission like this one to get to top lvls without threat of see through mobs. But do not get the dialogue necessary to request it. Its like once you request the mission once, thats it, and need another person who hasnt done this to request for you. Either its a typical SoF glitch or Devs are playing a cruel joke lol

reusable steambomb is not a reward for completing this task. It's a random drop off of a mob.

    EDIT: Spelling > me.

Since it's a random drop off mobs in this instance, we list it as a quest reward along with the regular quest rewards. Besides, a clicky Invisibility item with unlimited charges seems like a pretty good reward to me.

Not a good idea to list random items as quest rewards. Just don't do it.

If you just have to include it, make a new category on the web page such as...

    "Random Zone/Mission/Instance Drops"
    Not a completion reward

Since it's basic Invisibility, which can drop at any time, and has a 15-MINUTE recast timer, I beg to differ. It kinda sux. I'd go with invis potions, if'n I couldn't cast invis myself or click it from a far superior item.

The third objective should read, "Defeat the Gyroscopic Reclaimators who control the processing plant"
The fourth objective should read, "Return to Overvolt Register and report your progress"

We had exactly 25 steamworks in the zone today, in case any are still wondering whether there will be enough to complete the mission.

I did this task a couple days ago... had read the comments about 24/25 steamworks and was worried.

However, there WERE 25 so we were OK.

When you enter the hall with the Gyroscopic Reclaimators to your left, look right to find the last steamwork. At the far right of the hall is a pit with oil in it. The 25th steamwork is having an oil bath...

The group instances are wacky....sometimes you dont get enough mobs to spawn or you dont get enough of the right type to spawn. The trick is to just kill what you can then leave the zone but not the instance. Not sure on the exact time (I went and watched some tivo for bout 30 mins) but after a bit the zone will respawn and you can get your last few kills.

Each mission takes you one floor higher. You dont have to reclear the previous floors.

3rd mission is a little different. Kill 5 of a certain mob. Kill name. Watch out for the goo's as they spawn adds. This mission if you have a fd type of rezzer you can just run past most the trash to the room with the name in it and fd in there and rez. Single out the 5 and kill. Pull and kill name. Voila.

    4th mission takes some clearing.
Kill 4 different names. (2 are in the first room, 2 are in the back room but a good bard should be able to get them to the middle big room with the matrix name.
Give the quest piece to the matrix name. Voila.

5th mission is cake. Clear a bit of the first room. Maybe 10 or 12 mobs. Kill name in that room. Clear some of the second room. Theres only 10 - 12 in there and I just killed them all. Kill named dragon. This is the last mission in the arc.

The names are pretty cake. Nothing sneaky bout them. They have slightly more dps and slightly more hps then trash but most of them are casters anyway. The name in 5 has way more hps but is still mostly gimp. Next to nothing summons. Im pretty sure the names dont summon but I didnt test it since once I saw they werent rootable or snareable I just brought in a war for the necro.

Definately dont forget to get the single tasks before doing these though. The spelunking single task will be done before you finish the 5. I forgot to get them so now when I go to work on the aug quest I have to go back into this lame to pull zone. But one thing at a time....atm Im on to workin on beza missions.

Ill try and post mission names and quest objectives later if I think of it. Once you complete the arc you can get any of the missions whenever you want. Now that spells drop in there its not a bad spot to exp / farm some. Also got a rare zone drop from there the other day. Ac 25 Hp 75 Mana 75 aug fits in most slots but not all.

Mag, Shm, Clr did this mission last night. Same problem as below. Found and Killed 24/25 Steam NPC's, seems the 25th must be at a SOE board meeting since he is not in the zone. The zone does not re-spawn behind. The 3 Gyroscopic Reclaimators con'ed red to level 80, but were no problem to split and kill. The rest of the mobs in zone were DB. I noticed the Modulators dropped also in the instance, so I suggest (AFTER SOE FIXES THIS...I HOPE) to be sure to get the Modulators quest from Overvolt Rigster the IV also, so you could do both at the same time.

Don't waste your time until SOE fixes, since you will not be able to finish for the faction and exp.

Had 19 of 25 Steamworks to Reclmators, killed the Reclaimators then crossed square/plaza and wen't down the other side where they were and the other 6 steamworks down the other side, they were packed tight and had roamers so had to Pacify.
