This group mission is the fourth in a series of five. It follows the group task 'Bronzebeard's Fate', after which Larquin Fangbreaker sends you to speak with Maria Starforge. Both of them are found in the Loping Plains in the Fang Breakers camp near the zone-in from the Steamfont Mountains.

At the end of the previous task:

Larquin's eye's grow wide with horror as you relay the fate of his friend Hurley. 'These beasts will [pay] for what they did to Bronzebeard. I swear it on my life!'

You say, 'Let's make them pay!'

Larquin Fangbreaker's eyes betray the merest hint of sorrow as you speak with him. His voice resonates with the sound of impending thunder, 'The orcs shall pay for what they did to bronzebeard. Be certain of that _____. But first we have a more pressing matter to attend to. The elvish spirits in the fortress have been driven into a frenzy recently and we're not sure why. It's time to take them out of the equation before Ralkor does something even more awful to their tormented spirits. Speak with Maria Starforge, she'll give you more information.'

Maria Starforge is found in the same NPC camp.

    You say, 'Hail, Maria Starforge'

Maria Starforge says 'You have been a great help _____. The spirits of Kor`therin owe you much. Larquin has told me he has several important assignments for you when you're ready.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Departed'.

Maria Starforge has asked you to enter Bloodmoon Keep and free the cursed spirits of the elves that haunt the area around the Tunarian Temple. She has also asked that you cleanse the temple by using the Moondancer Pendant.

  • 1. Kill 10 elvish ghosts 0/10 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • 2. 10 blight speakers 0/10 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • 3. 10 shadow priests 0/10 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • 4. Cleanse the Temple of Tunare 0/1 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • 5. Speak to Maria Starforge 0/1 (Loping Plains)

The player who requests the task receives "Moondancer Pendant", which has the effect "Tunare's Purity", used to complete the last step.

After clearing up to the final room in the undead wing you will see on the dias "The Spirit of Falstaff" and several other ghosts. The spirit hits for ~4,000 and summons mezzable adds ("a hungry spirit") that cast an unresistable single-target charm spell, "Possession"

Take him to 10-20%, at which point you will see the emote:

The Spirit of Falstaff's form shifts in and out of your vision. It seems very weak.

Click the Moondancer Pendant to finish him off. If you keep DPS'ing him, he will regenerate health. If you accidentally kill him, this is fine. Falstaff Moondancer will spawn regardless. Kill the remaining adds and hail Falstaff for the task update.

Falstaff Moondancer says by the gods! I am finally free! For centuries I have been trapped here in this temple unable to control the actions of my cursed spirit. Forever cursed to watch in torment as my spirit commited unspeakable acts at the beckoning of the curse. My only solace was that energy of the temple was able to keep the orcs from consuming all of the spirits of my brethren. You were sent by Maria Starforge? This is almost impossible to believe. Perhaps we can yet save the spirits that have been consumed by Ralkor and his malignant crystals. Take these letters to Maria. It explains Ralkor methods for using the crystals and may provide some insight into how to defeat him and free the spirits of my fellow elves.

  • 6. Deliver 1 Falsattf's Letters to Maria Starforge 0/1 (Loping Plains)

You receive a letter, "Falsattf's Letters" (sic), which must be brought to Maria Starforge.

Maria Starforge says, 'We must learn more of these crystals that Falstaff mentioned. Perhaps the slaves in the [mines] have some first hand knowledge of these crystals.'

As you recount the events inside the temple Maria's eyes gleam with hope. What!? The temple still stands and remains consecrated ground of Tunare? Falstaff must be a powerful paladin indeed to have held back the power of the curse for so long. We must help him in whatever way we can. I will dispatch a messenger to Felwithe immediately to inform them. We must learn more of these crystals that Falstaff mentioned. Perhaps the slaves in the [mines] have some first hand knowledge of these crystals.

Because of gear upgrades and how little HP mobs in Bloodmoon Keep have now, relatively speaking, it's difficult to actually DPS The Spirit of Falstaff down to 10-20% and get a click in without over-killing.

Good news, you don't have to worry about that because if you do just over-kill and kill him, without clicking, a high elf named Falstaff Moondancer spawns. If you 'Hail' him, the task with update correctly and he will hand you a letter which you then bring to Maria Starforge for the final step and completion of the task.

I used the talisman on him when I got the emote around 20%, I crit him for 462661 damage and didn't get credit for the kill. I imagine it's so people don't get the quest then disband it to have multiple talismans to click, but either way, I assume the talisman did more damage then I did and I didn't get credit for the kill and the corpse poofed.

I setup an audio trigger for "seems very weak" and it didn't go off. But at 16% we saw an emote about him gaining strength so I clicked the pendant and that worked.
Moondancer Pendant is a 200K nuke, it doesn't despawn

If you try to kill him, he will respawn. Stand on the dias, target Falstaff and click the Moondancer Pendant to despawn the named. At this point, Falstaff Moondancer spawns. Kill the remaining adds and hail Falstaff for the task update.

This isn't quite right. We brought him down to about 6% and he healed back up to about 75%-80%. He didn't despawn and then respawn. If you "Stand on the dias, target Falstaff and click the Moondancer Pendant" the nuke is only worth 25% of his total health.

So what you have to is bring him down to 20%-10%, whenever you get that emote, "The Spirit of Falstaff's form shifts in and out of your vision. It seems very weak", stop DPS and then click on pendant to deliver the finishing blow before he heals himself.

The Spirit of Falstaff summons, does not rampage, is snareable and mezzable. The adds don't do anything but cast charm. They only stay up for a few seconds at a time and are also mezzable.

The letter is call "Falsattf's Letter" and no that isn't my typo, that's the way they spelled it. The wording to watch for to click pendant is: "The Spirit of Falstaff's form shifts in and out of your vision. It seems very weak." This happened between 20-15% health, was going kind of quick so not certain.

Finally figured this out... have to take him down in health before the clicky item will even work. I wasn't paying attention to emotes but we got him to 18% then clicked. I got lucky and crit it... 490k nuke lol. He does randomly charm group members. Guildies said they had problems with him Ch'ing but he didn't do that to us.

This quest is not given by Larquin, he suggests you speak to Maria Starforge. She will give the mission "The Departed", which takes place in Bloodmoon.

    Quests requires you to kill:

    10 elvish ghosts
    10 blight speakers
    10 shadow priests
    Cleanse the Temple of Tunare

The person who gets the quest will receive "Moondancer Pendant", which has a clicky "Tunare's Purity" which you click to complete the cleanse task.

After clearing up to the final room in the undead wing you will see on the dias "The Spirit of Falstaff" and several other ghosts. The spirit hits for up to 4k on our SK tank, if you try and kill him he will repop. Stand on the dias, target Falstaff and click on your Moondancer Pendant to despawn the named and Falstaff Moondancer will pop at the top of the dias. Deal with the remaining adds and hail Falstaff for the quest update.

Upon hailing you will receive a letter on your curser and Falstaff Moondancer says:

Falstaff Moondancer says by the gods! I am finally free! For centuries I have been trapped here in this temple unable to control the actions of my cursed spirit. Forever cursed to watch in torment as my spirit commited unspeakable acts at the beckoning of the curse. It explains Ralkor methods for using the crystals and may provide some insight into how to defeat him and free the spirits of my fellow elves.

Completion of the tasks results in faction and a "Grungy Were-Orc Claw".

After handing the letter back to Maria Starforge "We must learn more of these crystals that Falstaff mentioned. Perhaps the slaves in the [mines] have some first hand knowledge of these crystals.
