This group mission is the second in a series and begins with Larquin Fangbreaker who can be found in the Loping Plains in the Fang Breakers camp near the zone-in from the Steamfont Mountains.

It follows the group task 'The Bloodmoon'. At the end of that task...

Larquin Fangbreaker says 'Well done, it seems you may have what it takes to join the fangbreakers. [text missing] ahead of myself though. Tell me more about these [spiders]'

    You say, 'About those spiders...'

Larquin Fanbreaker stares at you stone faced while you recount the details of the spider attack. 'It seems the orcs are housing more than one kind of pet inside bloodmoon keep. For what purpose I wonder? Spiders are notoriously difficult to control. Even for a shaman of Ralkor's power. Perhaps he's using them for something [else].'

    You say, 'Something else?'

Larquin Fangbreaker says 'I hesitate to guess what he might be doing with them, but it's a piece of information we certainly need to obtain. Since you already know where the secret passage is, you should be the one to return to the caverns and see what you can learn of the spider infestation. I have a hard time believing that Ralkor has a rock solid grasp on this brood. Perhaps we can use that to our Advantage.'

You have been assigned the task 'Walking Into Spider Webs'.

Larquin Fangbreaker is concerned that there's a spider infestation inside of bloodmoon keep. It seems that the wereorcs were keeping more than just wolves as pets. Return to the bloodmoon stables and explore the hidden spider cave beyond the crumbling wall and try and determine what the orcs are using the spiders for.

  • 1. Enter Bloodmoon Keep 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Once in the zone, again make your way through the east-northeast until you get to the spider area. You'll find all your kill targets there.

Mobs in this zone do NOT respawn.

  • 2. Kill 15 Bloodfang Spiders 0/15 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • 3. Destroy 10 Egg Sacs 0/10 (Bloodmoon Keep)

  • 4. Destroy 5 Cocoons 0/5 (Bloodmoon Keep)

NOTE: As you kill the egg sacs and cocoons, several hatchlings spawn out of them and aggro. They don't need to be killed as part of the task, so you can drop their aggro and leave them be.

The hatchlings hit for a max ~350 each and are mezzable. They also have the same poison proc as the regular spiders:

Bloodfang Poison: Single Target, Poison (0)
    1: Decrease Hitpoints by 254 (L1) to 610 (L90) per tick
2: Increase Poison Counter by 18

  • 5. Return to Larquin Fangbreaker 0/1 (Loping Plains)

Larquin Fangbreaker says, 'So what have you found of the wereorc's plans for the spiders?' Larquin nods gravely as you describe the cocooned slaves and the behemoth spider Queen in the back of the cavern. Larquin Fangbreaker says, 'Kadara must hear of this new spider [Queen] you've seen. In the mean time I have a [favor] to ask of you.'

Started doing these missions after i gave up doing the 1st one ( the bloodmoon) while trying o get a cursed rage channeler. I did 7 of these and got the ralkos fang off an orc in mission 2, the bloodmoon endless draught off an orc in mission 4, the bloodmoon stained faycite off a spider in mission 6 Then I decided to try what I did in the hive. I shrouded down, got an 85 to join my level 70 with his 70 merc. making group average level 75 (rather than the 95 i had been using). then swapped back to my 95 to do misssion (little funny business with dropping the 70 and adding a pair of 90s to maintain mission stablity).

first mission at level 75 average got me a bloodmoon stained faycite from a spider. I will keep trying.

first edit : i should have mentioned it was a regular bloodfang spider not the lesser one from the egg sacs (hatchlings)
second edit : did 4 more of these (shrouded down lower average level). mission 1 nothing, mission 2 nothing, mission 3 i got the ralkos fang off the lower level green con ( to 95) worg ( a_wild_worg) and then 3 minutes later the stained faycite dropped off an_armored_worg. on the 4th mission, I had 3 ralkos fangs drop. 1st one off a normal rager, 2nd and 3rd off a pair of spiderfangs. so total of 5 misisons shrouded down - no da clickie.

One small room had 8 mobs in it on the way to spiders.

Spiders are in the far NE large room in the zone, all the other doors except the very first right one are locked so u must clear a lot of orcs. Mobs seem to have a lot of hp's but with good dps it will take 3 hours at most. Assassins are SOS and cast an unresistable mez so they can be interesting. Bring a mezzer or out of camp CC, you WILL need it.

I found an easy way of doing this. If you have or can get a Rogue(one with a healer merc), you can let the group die. Let the Rogue drag you to a safe spot in passage just South of spider room. Let the merc rez all toons, buff then kill spiders. Saves a lot of time having to kill mobs not needed.

I pulled the whole zone as a rogue. It is time consuming but did it. Only 1 double pull and that was the first pull of the night. By the time you get your mob count for quest you will be close enough to make a path. Also I noticed I could shoot the eggsacks and cocoons with Range, then loot , pop smoke, hide, and I'm out no aggro. Did this with 76 druid and his Journey t1 merc healer and 85 Rogue t5 cleric merc.
