Find a gnome named Lozani on the third floor of High Keep.

You say, 'Hail, Lozani'

Lozani says 'Greetings, friend!! I am Lozani, Scribe Supreme of the Eldritch Collective. I have been sent forth from the great Library of Mechanimagica in the city of Ak'Anon, to study the arcane knowledge of man and beast alike. I have studied many languages and spells, from Crushbone to Kerra Ridge. I have found most languages hard to decipher. As of this date, I have learned to read only the script of the [orc oracles]. Oh well, I am on a five decade mission. Better luck next language.'

You say, 'What orc oracles?'

Lozani says 'Oh!! Heard of the orc oracles have you? A ghastly bunch they are!! Argh! The numerous days I spent interrogating those beasts with their foul breath. It was as if rats had gone and died in their mouths. I wished I could read minds after those days. TWENTY WEEKS of that rat-carcass breath and all I have learned is the ability to decipher [oracle scrolls] and [apprentice cantrips]. What a mess that was! I'm beginning to think I should have become a Gemchopper.'

You say, 'What oracle scrolls?'

Lozani says 'Orc oracle scrolls? Mere shaman spells are they. I know how to decipher those illegible scrolls. I can do so, but it will cost you. Nothing is for free in this world, y'know? You give me one of those illegible scrolls and four gold coins.'

You say, 'What apprentice cantrips?'

Lozani says 'Orc apprentice cantrips. Child's play they are. Very difficult to decipher, mostly due to the orc sweat smearing the writing. I fill in the blanks with a second orc cantrip and my universe of knowledge, so you never know what spell is going to be scribed! Could be magic, could be wizardry, could be necromancy, golly!! Sometimes I even end up with a recipe!! If you want me to try to decipher one just hand me two illegible cantrips. No coinage necessary!! They are mostly apprentice spells. Nothing much.'

If you give him an Illegible Scroll (dropped by orc oracles in the Commonlands) and 4 gold OR two Illegible Cantrips, he'll translate it for you.

You receive a low level spell.

Need list of rewards.

For the oracle scroll and 4 gp, he gave me:
Summon Drink

I assume other rewards are possible.
I can confirm no faction was given. I was hoping it might be just missing from the database but no -- no faction. Just a reduction in my gold!

Cheers,
Ash

in EC, only oracles drop scrolls...apprenctices drop the cantrips. Also, i tried turning a scoll in to Tara Neklene in the bottom floor of the arcane scientists building with my rodcet nife cleric out of qeynos, she conned indifferent to me and said I must do some bs menial tasks for her before faction is high enough to get anything out of turning in scrolls. still got exp for turning in the cantrips, though.

Errrr Ok I followed the link from "illedgable (rotted) scroll" I got fromt he guy in SRO. So if I have a low lvl alt, I can gather ALL the illegable scrolls I can get my hands on and get spells out of them? for much less?

It seems there are MANY things in the game, if you knew them all, it would be very easy and very innexpensive of a game.

Are these spells usually GOOD for about 4gp? like cheaper then buying from a vendor? Or is the gamble not worth it?

Also I will be heading to Highpass Keep anyways. I will turn mine in, I will see what I get. I'll post here. I have a theory these are some of the ways to get the new rare spells. the ones only certain people get... like legend spells.

Nice, growth was a velious spell for shamans that was removed from the game because folks messed around with it too much (opposite of shrink) and caused more troubles than the spell was worth in the game.

edit - added:
As the later posts mention, it was indeed added into the game. It appears that one can only enlarge players to about the size of barbarians (no Gnome-zillas). Fun thing to do: shrink (cast it twice) your party (except for the gnomes and halflings), then cast growth 2 times on the gnomes and halflings.

The only use for growth that I have found so far is to enlarge gnomes and halflings travelling through Kael (those steps are waaaay too big for them without it). Have you found any different use for the spell growth?

Aye, they did. My barbarian shaman friend bought one last night (I don't know where). Since I'm a halfling druid, our travels will sure to be fun-filled:

Imagine a barbarian-sized halfling and a halfling-sized barbarian )
can i sell it???

alleged random scroll in so ro
# Jun 20 2001 at 8:51 AM Rating: Default
One of the quests is busted, the alleged "random scroll" obtained in So Ro is always and only
a rotted illegible scroll so reading the text may accomplish the goal but only after you sort out the conflicting and screwed up information where in one place it is characterized as "random
scroll" but is really a rotted illegible scroll. seehttp://eqdb.allakhazam.com/quest.html?quest=305- they dont match up

WRONG. This quest isn't busted. Most of the time, I get an illegible (rotted) scroll. However, on rare occassions I've received a working scroll, including the enchanter spell Quickness.

Sorry bout that last one, was an accident. What do you do with the "Illegible Scroll" from Mistmoore...note, this is not "'A' Illegible Scroll." Please post any information you get about this, thank you. Also the icon for it looks like the "Students Homework" (range slot item from ToFS.

You are correct, there is a 3rd quest that uses an item called an Illegible Scroll. The Illegible Scroll from Mistmoore is one of two needed for an Iksar SK quest called the Crusader's Test of the Lord. If you look it up by that name, or quests listed by zone in Mistmoore, you will find it. It is one of two for this quest that drop in Mistmoore. Hope this helps!

#Anonymous, Posted: Mar 26 2001 at 6:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This alleged quest must be busted like many other alleged quests . No wonder they call it everquest you can never complete any of these Chicken__t quests> I have given this Lozani 4 gold pieces and a rotted illegal quest several times in high keep and all he says "gee I told you I wanted 4 gold and and an illegible scroll" Maybe Lozani is a frustrated Lawyer ( or his chickensh-- programmer is a flunked english major) but this is an Everquest since it cant be fulfilled following the language of this idiot.
RE:Your giving him the wrong scroll
# Mar 26 2001 at 6:56 PM Rating: Decent
This in fact does work fine.
You are in fact wrong, he never asks for a "rotted illegal quest".
He wants a Illegible scroll.Lore, and falls off of the orc oracles...I always use the ones from the crushbone clan.
Nxt time read the chat txt when you hail him you'll see...
I recieved a gate scroll, so far....

This NPC also appears in the Seafarer's Roost in Freeport at the bar. He only shows up for about an hour at a time, but is the same NPC and the same quest. Don't know why he goes all the way to Freeport to hit the bar though.

Lozani appears at the Seafarer's Roost between 4AM and 5AM. He will be near NPC vendor when he arrives. I did quest and received a light healing scroll. Not exactly a great quest reward. Good Luck.

Probably because these also drop in EC off the oracles and apprentices in the camps.
