This raid expedition begins with Qileour Bahiael at the Wayfarer camp in Everfrost Peaks. You must have at least six people in your raid and no more than 54. You can expect to spend anywhere from 1 to 3 hours in this expedition, depending on how many people you have with you. Lockout timer is 4.5 days.

You say, 'Hail, Qileour Bahiael'

Qileour Bahiael says 'I am busy building a strategy to take on those oddities deep under the ice here. If you need something, speak up now. I have little time for pleasantries. However, if you can rally the call of your friends perhaps you can help us with a serious [problem].'

You say, 'What problem?'

Qileour Bahiael says 'It is terrible that we are losing so many faithful Wayfarers to the chaos of Miragul's Menagerie. As experienced as you are, I hesitate to burden you with this task. It would require you to venture into an extremely dangerous area in the menagerie from which you may not return. I implore you to go deep into an area known as the Frozen Nightmare. It is through there that you would be dropped into the heart of the pandemonium where we have lost our best comrades. I need you to locate and exterminate whatever is killing our people. Are you [interested]?'

You say, 'We are interested'

Qileour Bahiael says 'Keep an eye out for the lost members while you're there, and always be on your toes. Miragul's oddities are as strange as they are deadly. These caves are not called the Frozen Nightmare for nothing.'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

Enter Miragul's Menagerie: The Maw of the Menagerie (map "mirb").

Most, if not all, mobs in this instance see invisibility. Only the spiders can see through Shroud of Stealth (most do; some do not).

Trash in this zone can hit for ~900, usually averaging much lower. There is nothing particularly special about them.

Entering the first hall in the zone will trigger the goblin event. Many, many grey-con goblins will rush you. Ignore them and seek out their two leaders, Raid Leader Sig Chol and Taskmaster Suitalp. Once those two are dead, the goblins will despawn.

Clear your way to Durgin Skell. Follow his dialogue and receive four tasks to be completed within the expedition. Each of these tasks is an event.

Task 1 involves the sundering sludge in the room past Durgin. Kill off the blobs in the surrounding rooms and then kill the sundering sludge. Upon its death, it will split into four severing sludges. Each of those four will split into an additional four - slippery sludges. Be mindful about your kill order here. Each blob hits for ~1500 and flurries. Upon killing the last one, the task updates.

Task 2 involves killing four chromatic skeletons. They hit for ~1100 and must be killed within 10 seconds of one another. Beat them down until they turn red, and then beat them down further to within a few % short of their death. Then kill them. This updates your task window.

Task 3 involves the slaying of Marrow the Broken, who hits for ~1800 and rampages. He also has an AE and spawns an add every time he emotes this:

Fragments of body parts splinter from the golem and shower the floor. Within moments, these pieces of ossified bone reassemble with scattered debris to form something else.

Kill him to update your task.

Task 4 involves protecting Durgin's love. Spread your raid about the room and then hail the warder in the room to spawn the event. Mobs spawn, attempting to defile Sharalla's corpse. Prevent this from happening by killing them.

You say, 'Hail, Sharalla`s warder'

It is odd that Sharalla's warder remains here after her demise. It seems to be defending its master's remains. The warder turns toward you as it notices your presence. The moment it is distracted, several wild animals that had been hiding nearby lunge forth.

One of the feral animals gnaws the remains of Sharalla, tearing at her clothes and skin. Her warder utters a pitiful whine.

This completes the task. Note: You may fail this part and still successfully complete the expedition. Upon a failure:

Sharalla's remains have been irreversibly defiled by the wild animals. You have failed to protect her.

Return to Durgin and hail him. Tell Durgin your 'progress' to spawn the final boss of the zone, Laskuth the Colossus who is located to the north.

You say, 'Hail, Durgin Skell'

Your expedition is nearing its close. You cannot bring any additional people into your expedition at this time.

Durgin Skell says 'Fantastic work, friends. I'm not sure how, but you have accomplished the impossible by ridding the Menagerie of the most horrible abominations imaginable. You've done a great service for the brotherhood. I'm sure Morden will reward you handsomely for . . . Wait, what was that noise?' The caverns tremble and fragments of ice rain down like hail. A deep, thundering roar rumbles from the northeast. 'Oh dear. It sounds like our work is not quite finished. I'll just . . . wait here if you don't mind.'

Levitate yourselves as Laskuth is located on ice near a pit. He hits for ~2280 and has a single-target banishment (to an area not far from the fight). He also uses the spells Crystal Shield (chance to reflect spells by 25%) and Ice Rain. He has about 650k HPs. Killing him lowers your faction with the "Lost Minions of Miragul".

Upon Laskuth's death, up to three chests will spawn with loot in them. They may be melee'd open. Each drops two pieces of loot in addition to possible random vendor-type loot.

Killing Laskuth only lowers faction by 2 points with Lost Minions of Miragul. There are two chromatic skeletons to the East and two to the South, gathered all four then kill them.

I received more than two items in each chest:

a frost-glazed box:
Frozen Gem of Strength
Dark Shard of Destruction
Gem of Whirling Auras
Frosty Gem of Enhanced Protection
Lemming Fur

a frozen treasure chest:
Turban of Precious Vitality
Froststone of Health
Strand of Lingering Energy
Glob of Slush Water x3

a weathered barrel:
Icy Orb of Tranquility
Calcified Bone Shield
Shard of Shrunken Bone

You turn them red so they don't leash, and are near as can be to turn icy...but to win they all need to be icy skeletons.

Just tried this for the first time tonight to get the AC aug for my buddy, everything was straightforward except for the skeletons. As someone mentioned below you need to turn each one in to an Icy or they will just keep respawning no matter how fast you kill them. With the 4th icy spawned they will depop and you get the update.

I opened the chest and there was nothing of interest, then saw that the box holds the aug. I broke it open and found not 1 but 2 of the Frosty Gem of Enhanced Protection...

Still trying to get the Frosty Gem! Have run thru this raid at least 20x with no luck. But I have it down now so it's just a question of persistence, and of binding in Everfrost since sometimes it takes longer to run there than to run thru the raid.

Some interesting tidbits I've learned:

A full group is required to get the mission. Odd because you can do a Plane of Time expedition, which in the old days would be done by 72-man raid forces, entirely solo.

One thing I discovered, though, is the group can be of any characters. I grouped my 115 with a 46 and FOUR LEVEL ONE's, and he got the raid.

Even more interesting, the 5 additional toons were all alts on my second account. I logged each one in, added it to the group, logged it out. logged in the next one and continued like that until I had all 5 alts from the second account in the group. So these 5 low level toons which were all logged out of the world but their inclusion in the group enabled my main to get the mission.

Pushing my luck, I also used advanced looting to give the drops to one of these toons. Just to avoid crowding my bags. This did NOT work. All that stuff got lost. Good thing I didn't get the Frosty Gem and hand it off to a group member!

I've never tried this with any mission requiring a full group. Maybe it's "SOP"? In any case this mission should hardly require a full group. Lots of raids before and after LDoN can be entirely solo'd by a "group of 1."

One last point: I never saw the two named goblins on this run. Yet I got credit for all 4 tasks once I completed them. Maybe a bug? I did clear every goblin in the zone, and even zoned out and back in, but those 2 never spawned. Re-reading the walkthru above, it looks like the gobs are not one of the tasks required; they're just planted near the zone-in to harass a raid force. Interesting, that...

PS

Got it on 21st run using my rogue. Interestingly, this run was the longest the final boss fight ever took. Usually it's over with ranged attacks in a few seconds. With this melee toon, the boss kept punting him off the ledge forcing my poor dorf rogue to have to climb up several very tall "stairs" of ice to get back to the boss lol. The boss also resisted my opening aa backstab or he probably would have been a one-hit kill. Messy fight but happy to get the gem for my warrior. I may go back and try again for other toons. We shall see if I can stomach another 21 attempts...

Soloing this to get the AC aug (which I still haven't seen in 7 tries) the only annoying part is the respawning skeletons task. The trick appears be to kill the chromatics until they turn into icy and then don't kill any icy's! Because they will respawn as chromatics and the cycle will continue! I'm not really sure the chromatics have to turn red but I do know I stopped the endless respawns when I removed all my damage shields and resisted the temptation to kill any skells other than chromatics. Like forget about killing the lazy man's way, with PBAOE nukes! With our high-level nukes today and insane damage shields the whole bit about get all 4 chromatics down below a certain % before killing them all within 10 seconds is needlessly complicated and would require intentionally loading lower nukes and removing ds buffs. Note too that the chromatics don't all spawn in the same tunnel so if you are inclined to fight them all together you're going to have to drag them all together. Hoping to get the AC aug before I start seeing bright white spots before my eyes from all the ice and snow! How did we all survive Velious?!

You just have to run around to the other parts of the zone to gather up all 4 of the skeletons. Then just kill them. I did it on my warrior and they die in about 3 hits so killing all 4 within 10 seconds is easy just using auto attack.

I was able to solo this instance easily myself as a lvl 80 Shadowknight. This should work for any SK trying to farm the 35ac aug.

http://eq.magelo.com/profile/1363521

1) Run in, kill first Goblin named, FD. Go kill other fast, run to Durgin, and FD. Win.

2) Blob event. First, clear the room of the golems that proc FD. Pull them out to Durgin and kill there. Kill the Blob. Notice each death causes a split.

Blob --> 4x Splitting blob --> 4x Severing blob for each Splitting

Each level also cuts mob DPS in half.

So, once main Blob dies, we kill 1x Splitting, 4x Severing, and then move to next splitting. Etc. Win.

3) Skellies. In the halls going directly south and east from the blob room, there are a bunch of skellies. Rimebone and Chromatic of varying colors. Kill all the rimebone, and kill all the chromatic untill they repop as Icy (this happens if you kill the bright RED versions of the chromatics. So basically make all the Chromatics red, then kill them to turn them into Icy's. Win.

4) Marrow the Broken. First thing, pull the 4x Rimebone skeletons out of his room and kill. Marrow himself hits for about 1k, and pretty inaccuratly. He also has a weak AE that you will likely resist 100% of the time. The big thing to this event is the adds he spawns. The adds seem to spawn about 1-2 every 10% or so. The adds are pretty much identicle to zone trash, so you can either kill them as they pop, or just burn Marrow down.

When I do the burn, I usually get to about 20% by the time the adds overtake me. At this point I clear aggro, med, and then pull all the adds out of his room and kill. Notice that when you take Marrow down this time, no adds spawn untill you reach the point you were at previously, meaning you can do this in chunks if you have to. Win.

5) Warder event. This has been Dev-confirmed to not spawn the chest that drops the 35ac aug. SOOO, after Marrow, just run all the way south to this event, hail the warder, and run back to durgin to FD and clear aggro. Lose, but its the last event to spawn the boss.

6) Laskuth the Colossus. Once your aggro is clear, hail Durgin. This will spawn the final boss of the instance, Laskuth. Move to his room, run past him, and go down into the pit and kill ALL the dervishes there. Move back topside, med, and prep for Laskuth the Colossus.

Laskuth the Colossus has a few annoying Effects:
a. Spell Reflect - Be careful to not wasting your mana to this. Load up a spear to eat the reflect so you can maximize tapping efficiency.
b. Knockback / single slot dispell - Self explanitory
c. Banish - Remember that pit we just cleared? Yep, that's where he punts you. If you keep a DoT or CfP / TfP on him, he will summon you back pretty quickly (<97%).

Tactics:
-Keep a DoT or CfP / TfP on him, or he will end up regenning 1-3% every time you get banished.
-Dont waste time with a pet. It will die the first or second time you get banished.
-Don't waste mana on DPS. Save it for healing and keeping CfP / TfP up.

Win.

The 35ac aug drops specifically from "a frost covered box" which should be the closest chest to you from the boss's corpse.

A big thanks to the SK community at http://www.Evilgamer.net

Did this today as a 90 SK. Still pretty easy, didn't get the AC aug tho :(

Took about 40 minutes maybe, hardest part was the skeletons and controlling the kills on 4 at once. My riposte damage was killing htem too fast, I eventually turned my back on them, took my DS off and used spells only to get them all down low enough to finish them with a single AE.

Will add info on each mob/kill on its individual page.

As for the last part, now you have the pet bomb AE spell as a SK, you can stand on the corpse, cast that and get all the mobs on to you, kill em all fairly quickly and you can win the last part too.

Thank you for the walk through. Was very helpful. I just soloed this mission earlier today on my 85 sk to get AC aug. However it didn't drop this time.

The final boss is very annoying btw. I wouldn't worry about dots so much seein as most will be shot back at you, and save mana for lifetaps as needed in between epic clicks.

I used my raid 2hs wep from Old Man in PoK. And if i kept back to door i came in, when he shot me backwards he would summon me right back to him. The banish sucked though, but doable. His regen isn't that bad. Keep some spikes pots or instant clicky item for spikes and use that for extra dmg when he hits you as he likes to dispell all buffs anyways.

All in all very easily done. Very nicely done on info. Thanks again.
My sk btw

Thanks to carpenoctis for the walk through, very helpful as I soloed this last weekend. Hopefully you still play >.<

One thing to note is you may want to take off some DS when doing the skellies, I think I almost failed when I realized that one of the skeletons had turned to icy prematurely and was near 20% health hehe. I assume you fail if an icey dies prior to the others turning icey? or does it just cycle back to the original model? Either way it is easier to control them with less DS.

Best way I have found with a smaller force, tank a few of the adds, bum rush the captains that spawn the little guys, burn them down quickly, then kill the little ones
for the skeleton part, you kill the skeletons 3 times, the 3rd time you have to kill them all relatively in the same time of each other, get to 10%'ish, then nuke them all down fast, easy as that, the other 2 events are simple, just kill mobs, GL :P

some more detailed info on this event
# May 01 2007 at 2:14 PM Rating: Decent
couple of things that may be useful to those doing this event:

1. goblin task: the location of the two named goblins are:
a. raid leader - straight south from the zone in, past the first room. he's in the 2nd room, on the right hand side, *behind* the large blocks of ice
b. task master - down the ramp to the left (east) of the zone in room. go down the ramp and a bit down the hall, he's to the left.
of note:
the goblins you need to clear *after* the goblin task (en route to blob) will often give an emote 'fast as can be, you can't catch me!' and will run off ahead of you and aggro further goblins. snaring/rooting is an effective way to counter this and control the number of mobs you have.

2. blobs:
a. the blob tethers, so you can easily clear his room before moving in.
b. none of the splits are mezzable
of note:
the large ice golem mobs in this area proc an FD.

3. skeletons:
a. 2 chromatic skeletons are to the right (east) of the blob room, far down the hall. the other 2 are due south of the blob room.
b. the order for the color change is: brown, white, red - beat each one until it is red, beat all 4 down to about 5-10%, then kill each one (doesn't have to be all at once, you have some wiggle room)

4. protect the warder event
a. there is a slight bug in this event. a polar bear will spawn in the room *before* the warder room, and shortly after get stuck in a wall. if you want to win this event, have someone in the previous room before you start the event to aggro the bear.

5. Laskuth:
a. in addition to the reflect, banish, and ae, he also procs a 2 slot dispel
b. the banish point is a bit deeper down the room than Laskuth, and you pop rather far up, and will take fall damage if you don't have levi. additionally, there are adds in the room that you WILL get as adds if you don't clear the room before hailing durgin to trigger Laskuth.

a note on loot:
this raid has a total of 3 chests, but you will only get 2 if you fail the warder event. each chest drops 2 loot items. the 35ac aug (the only reason to even do this raid) drops from 'a frost covered chest' with approximately 1 in 9 chance of dropping.

a note on difficulty:
a demi plane geared single group can do this raid in about an hour and a half.
i tank (18k hp 4kac sk) with 1 cleric, shm, enc, and a couple dps. we do this without any difficulty whatsoever - an enc is very helpful, but not required.
at tacvi/coa level of gear you could probably do this with 2 groups.

Bah,

We got to final boss with one group. Got kicked out with last boss at 21% hp. =( Sucked really bad.

First attempt we got kicked from the zone dueto to many goblins spawning. They hit for 25-50's on decent tank, so healing wasn't issue. Just when you get to many the event seems to reset and everyone's ported outside. (not fail)

Blobs event, clear the room before pulling. Blob leashes so not a problem.

On the skelly's part you kill them all then they spawn again and with one less chromatic skelly. The missing skelly spawns as a NEW skelly at 100% hp with a new name. Icy something skelly - do NOT kill it! Or you'll be back at 4 Chromatic skelly's again.

As for the Protect the warder event, we failed seemed to be a LOT of mobs just to many to handle for our group.

Final boss not to bad. He IS perma rooted. So can sneak by him and only taka a hit or two if you don't clear adds before spawning. He tends to debuff a bit when knockback happens as well.
