Find Shrub Marwood in the eastern hideout of the Firiona Vie outpost.

You say, 'Hail, Shrub Marwood'

Shrub Marwood brushes pollen off of his tunic. 'Aachoo!! Oh!! Hello. Please look around. Unless you are a [druid looking for work].'

You say, 'I am a druid looking for work'

Shrub Marwood says 'Good. I need a stout adventurer to go to the wilds and find me a few items. I need some tump stumps - one Kromdul and one Kromdek type. I also need a mantrap root. Get me those three things and I will give you this handy shillelagh I found in the forest.'

The items he needs:
- One Kromdul Stump (forest giants in Burning Woods)
- One Kromdek Stump (forest giants in Frontier Mountains)
- Mantrap Root (erollisi mantraps in the Emerald Jungle)

Give him those three items, and in exchange you will receive a Dark Oak Shillelagh, some faction, and some experience.

Shrub Marwood says 'Hey!! Trying to pull a fast one?!! I said I wanted tump stumps of Kromdek and Kromdul type and a mantrap root!!'

Shrub Marwood tosses the mantrap root out the window.. SPLASH!! 'I made a mistake. I didn't need that one. Here is the shillelagh I told you about. I found it in some burned out woods far from here. I cleaned it up and found it had a spark of mana so I had it enchanted with a few charges of my spell, [Fertile Crop]. Hope you like it.'

Took my 30 level druid and 30 level warrior and had some fun and great xp fighting in Emerald Jungle, Burning Woods and did not stick around long for Frontier for everthing was conning green to dark blue. By the time I finished both toons got 6 levels. The drops where common and quick but the xp was to good to pass up. Turn in gave me 3% xp. The staff hits for 9 with a 36 delay; no bonus damage at all but does have 3 charges for Beguile Plants.

Is it possible to just skip the shillelagh quest and just hand in the components for the charm plant scroll?

I have just answered my own question. I turned in components and recieved the charm plant scroll without ever doing the shillelagh quest. So save some time and just do the charm plant quest. (Not sure if I will ever actually use it but I wanted to have complete my collectin.)

Mantraps

Ok I'm throwing in my two cents worth here. I wokred on this quest for fun (yes at lvl 55).

Here is what I found on the mantraps:

First the ones in EJ are not Erollisi *mantraps* they are *bloodthorns*. They do not drop the roots. We only found mantraps in TT. Everytime we killed a mantrap in TT it dropped the root.

The root is not to be confused with the Mantrap bud, which is a foraged item, also found in TT.

Roots only drop off Mantraps, which can only be found in TT.

Umm, just an FYI...

The mantraps DO exist in EJ. Killed a few of them while I was hunting the corrupted monkey for the epic. Wasn't really planning on doing this quest, but since we wound up with mantraps as agros, this dropped. It looked familiar, so I looted it and came back to realize what quest it was for (looked up the quest back when I was in my 20s and looking to complete my spellbook, still haven't gotten the Charm Plants scroll yet, I haven't met anyone who actually has it).

But I digress, mantraps DO wander around in EJ. I found several of them wandering the northern part of the zone, up the giant staircase and near the ruins at the northern end of the zone. The root is an uncommon drop, it seemed.

I know very little of this quest or any others, and am looking for any tips you all are willing to give. I am interested in getting all druid spells ( regardless of wether or not they are crappy ) and would appreciate and info you could give on them.

In reply to the weapon everyone is talking about, my friend has a wizard that just finished a quest I think was called "Staff of the Wheel" or something like that. That staff adds some nice stats and damage, but the delay is 150. The point is that that staff obviously is not for melee, but the stats have enhanced that character, and that is all some weapons are used for.
Tump Stumps
# Mar 21 2002 at 11:19 PM Rating: Decent
I also found a tump stump on the Forest arbors in Firiona Vie. The faction hit was Kromdek so I think it might be that type, not sure since I just turned in the bits for the staff.
This is how you get the charm plant spell Good luck .

Mantrap Root Foragable
# Sep 30 2001 at 5:33 PM Rating: Decent
I was in EJ today trying to Forage up an Ancient Coin for a bard quest, when I got this Mantrap root. FYI my Forage skill is 200, thanks to all the foraging I did to work on Epic.

How good does my FV faction have to be to get this guy to help me, and how can i raise it easily to what it needs to be? Avoided Kunark for the most part.

Also how come when i did go there they were all dubious or indifferant to me? one would think they'd like me better then that startng when i'd never done anything to anger them and they are good races and all.

These are found in Trakanon - never found them in EJ in spite of tracking. Dont waste your time there.

In EJ the Mantrap variety of plant is only found on the high plateau at the west? end of the zone (adjacent to the zone to FoB and the area where the corrupted gorilla is spawned). The lower area of the zone only contains the Bloodthorn variety.
Good hunting.

I have not yet fought in EJ, but I have ported people in and out many many times, and I ususally bring up track from the druid landing spot, and there are frequently Erollisi Mantraps on track.

My bad.... they were bloodthorns... I have not seen a mantrap in EJ. I am not saying they aren't there, but I haven't seen them.

I ran over to Trakanon's Teeth, and there were about 4 on track at the zone. I tracked one down, killed it, looted the root, and now have my shillelagh. I plan to hand it to some little person in GFay or something. I just wanted to do this quest for the fun of it, and to give me a reason to explore EJ and TT. I am off to attempt the Beguile Plants spell... Kaesora... hmmm sounds interesting.

Oh yeah, I killed the Tsu shaman while I was in TT also, and looted the white powder.

Sorry to tell you but I have fought many a mantrap in EJ. They are everywhere there, so do bother to go. It also is an easier zone then Trakanon and has lots of blue pulls for levels up to 42 or even higher. EJ is the place for mantraps.

I look ove most of the Emerald forest..where are the Mantraps? Cant find a one. I have the two stumps, but need to find the 3rd item.

who cares if it sucks I like doing Quest. They do need to make this quest prize a Bit better than and 9DMG weapon with only 3 charges. honestly is just plain stinks.

I got the one from Frontier easily enough, but of 3 Arbors in BW, all three said I already had that item. Do the Arbors drop both types?

Courteous
# Oct 12 2000 at 2:45 PM Rating: Default
I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 26 2001 at 3:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yup its true, this Anonymous Mr/Mrs Courteous's mother was on the cover of crack ***** magazine!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 13 2001 at 10:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ever consider that some would find it equally discourteous to spam every single board with the same nonsense? Thanks for the lecture, but I can't find a single thread with "Looking for Dissertation on In-Game Etiquette and Personal Ethics" anywhere in the subject line or text.
RE: Courteous
# Oct 17 2000 at 3:48 PM Rating: Default
Someone's choice of doing a long camp and subsequently becoming grouchy doesn't give them a right to not also be courteous.

The other day I was in Q Hills and saw some skellie I'd never seen on track before so I went to investigate. When I got to the ruins there, some jerk ran up to me and demanded to know what I was doing. Excuse me, but if you act like that to me without me saying a word, expect me to be short with you. Also if you CONTINUE to be rude, I may find it in my darkside to wait and camp a spawn I had no intentions to camp in the first place.

Jeez, people, ALL the initial quests in Firiona are crappy (I loved my 3 elven trail mixes from the drolvarg teeth. Mmm-mm!). But they all lead to something better. Give the shillelagh to some newbie if it's so crappy. Chances are good you'll be killing giants anyway. And mantraps aren't too tough. Now, how about someone getting info on the Charm Plants spell?
RE: Want some cheese with that?

If you want info about Charm Plants spell look under that quest, The Dark Oak Shillelagh is a completely different quest from Charm Plants.

Sigh ..
# Aug 31 2000 at 12:04 PM Rating: Decent
This staff is almost identical to a Runed Totem Staff in damage potential .. a lvl 18 char's weapon at best; and for it you have to go to the Emerald Jungle and fight lvl 35 mobs, and FM where you have to kill lvl 27-28 mobs? I don't see the point to this at all.

RE: Sigh ..
# Sep 04 2000 at 2:06 AM Rating: Decent
I agree - how about some decent druid quests.
#Anonymous, Posted: Dec 07 2000 at 2:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Umm hello? Druids dont melee often. And when they do its out of desperation mostly. This does have an effect people! Begule Plants. Charm a Plant. Sure it might not seem good to stupid people. But what is one of the Enchanters best line of spells? CHARM! THIS leads INTO the CHARM PLATNS SPELL! Plus you get 3 charges to tide you over. AND this is NOT a hard quest to complete. Keep it in your invetory then switch it in when you need to charm something.

This weapon is an absolute piece of crap. It has 3 charges of Charm Plant. Don't see the purpose of doing this quest unless its just to lead into the next one. Absolute crap.

I was able to get a Kromdek stump very quickly at the giant fort in FM, however after spending about 3 hours I still had no Kromdul stump. I tried the giants in DL and the giants in Warsilks Woods. None of them gave up the Kromdul stump. Went to the Burning Woods and found a Kromdul stump on the very first Arbor Giant I killed.

You need two kinds of tump stumps, one Kromdul and one Kromdek. I got both of them from giants in Frontier Mountains. I also hunted strathebone healers in Kaesora. Didn't see them drop any tump stumps. Doubt they do drop any.
strathbone DO drop tump stump

Well, at least they used to in may (first kaesora exploration for me).. but i doubt they changed that kind of drop

both tump's come from giants ,both lore and no drop. thier is nothing in Kaesora for this quest.
