This group mission is the final task in a series of five. It begins with Daemon Darkdawn (click for map image) on the Barren Coast, located at approximately 745, -625, on top of a large hill.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - Completion of "Sunstone Savages"
    - Completion of "Altar Call"
    - Completion of "The Tidewater Clan Goblins"
    - Completion of "The Tidewater Clan Goblins (Repayment)"

    Pre-requisite for Completing:
    - Must have "Sunstone Sun Charm" with you (item looted in the second task)
    - Must have "Amulet of the Risen Tide" with you (key looted in the third task)

At the end of the previous task, you saw:

Daemon is pleased with your work. At least as pleased as you've ever seen him. But he has concerns about the earthquake you experienced.

Brynden doesn't have anything new to say, and Daemon offered no [keyword], so just say "interested" to request this task.

You say, 'I'm interested in more'

Daemon Darkdawn says 'You've done well so far. Brynden told me that he thought that earthquake we felt was yer work. Hah! He also said that there was something he wanted from that place. Now I got the idea that it's time to pay him back for bein' so stingy with what he knows. Go talk to that bilge rat and see what he wants. Find it and bring it to me. Don't worry, I'll pay you way more than he would for it just so I can keep him from getting' it. Har!'

You have been assigned the task 'The Secret of Suncrest Ridge?'.

Daemon has asked you to go back to Suncrest and find out what that earthquake you felt might have done to the island. If it sunk, more is the better for Daemon. If not, he wants you to get in there and find out what happened from the locals. Book passage on one of the Freetide Merchant ships to get to Suncrest Island. Once you are on the island, you will be able to leave using the longboat.

If you hail Brynden Snow at the Blacksail Smugglers' camp, you see:

Brynden Snow says 'So, it's as I suspected. The religious split between the goblin clans on Suncrest Isle stem from their original mutual worship of some other being. I don't know what that might be, but I'm guessing that it somehow shared a dual nature, one of fire and water, that made it attractive to both goblin types. I don't know of any gods or demi-gods that would fit that requirement, so it must have been some lesser being. But to have that kind of draw, it must have been manifest, it must have been there on the island. I suspect it's gone now, and it's leaving might have caused the religious strife between the goblins. But perhaps it left something valuable behind.' Brynden stops paying attention to you and appears to be lost in thought.'

Purchase tickets to Suncrest Isle and catch the boat 0/1 (Barren Coast)

Dockmaster Weatherby says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.'

Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Suncrest Isle" from any of the Dockmasters along the coastline and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island.

Find the new leader of the Tidewater clan and find out what's going on 0/1 (Suncrest Isle)

Find the new leader of the Sunstone clan and find out what's going on 0/1 (Suncrest Isle)

The above two steps actually require you to kill the targets. Head to where the fire and lava waterfalls meet at the southeastern corner of the island. You will see an army of Tidewater and Sunstone goblins, and two goblins at the base of the mountain. They do not attack until you speak to them.

"Prince Tondin" and "Prince Argorat" each hit for a max ~2,300 and have ~140,000 hitpoints. They do not summon and flee when below 5% health. Every 20 seconds, the prince will call two goblins from the armies to come assist him (they don't actually assist him, but run to where he was when he called them and stand there - they will aggro if you get within their usual aggro range).

If you want, you can kill the armies before engaging the princes.

    Prince Tondin:

    You say, 'Hail, Prince Tondin'

Prince Tondin says 'You no hail me! Stupid _____ must [flee]!'

You say, 'I will not flee'

Prince Tondin says 'You kill King! Why do such [bad thing]?'

    You say, 'Bad thing?'

Prince Tondin says 'You kill King, stupid! Nobody stop [danger] like he did!'

    You say, 'What danger?'

Prince Tondin says 'Danger when Steam Lord rise! When he wake up, everyone [dies]!'

    You say, 'Everyone dies?'

Prince Tondin says 'Only amulet stop cold death! Me take from you with last breath!'

Prince Tondin says 'Fire and flames consume you!'

Prince Tondin has been slain by _____!
Prince Tondin's corpse says 'The flames of Solusek shall cleanse me!'

    Prince Argorat:

    You say, 'Hail, Prince Argados'

Prince Argados says 'Why you [talk] to me? You wake it up, you see?'

    You say, 'Talk?'

Prince Argados says 'Me wish you harm. You kill King and take [charm]!'

You say, 'I took the charm...'

Prince Argados says 'Only charm stop hot steam cloud. Take from you, make you cry loud!'

Prince Argados says 'Fire and flames consume you!'

Prince Argados has been slain by _____!
Prince Argados's corpse says 'The flames of Solusek shall cleanse me!'

Suddenly the entire island begins to shake as a massive elemental forms out of the lake of steam!

Kill 1 Calderon, the Steam Lord 0/1 (Suncrest Isle)

"Calderon, the Steam Lord" is the final mob in the task. It spawns upon the death of the Princes in the area where the fire and water meet. This mob is Level 80, hits for a max ~2,800, and rampages. It is immune to root/snare, is faster than RunSpeed5, and is tethered to the base of the mountain. It has approximately 500,000 hitpoints.

Calderon is immune to slow spells, and if it's slowed, it actually increases its attack speed. It summons health-based adds (80%, 60%, 40%, 20%) called "a boiling water elemental" (stunnable, mezzable). It casts the spells "Freezing Wash" and "Steam Cloud":

Freezing Wash: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 8000
    2: Blindness (-1)

Steam Cloud: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 1100
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 1100 per tick

Loot the Orb of Elemental Steam from its corpse.

Calderon, the Steam Lord has been slain by _____!

Deliver 1 Sunstone Sun Charm to Daemon Darkdawn 0/1 (Barren Coast)

Deliver 1 Amulet of the Risen Tide to Daemon Darkdawn 0/1 (Barren Coast)

Deliver 1 Orb of Elemental Steam to Daemon Darkdawn 0/1 (Barren Coast)

Near the zone-in area is a rowboat that you can click to port you back to the Buried Sea:

You get into the longboat and row out. You are quickly picked up by one of the many merchant ships sailing the waters of the Buried Sea and delivered safely to the dock on Jardel's Hook...

    Upon hand-ins, you see:

You have defeated many goblins, two kings and one giant steam elemental. Daemon feels somewhat avenged for what happened to his crew.

    Rewards:
    - Doubloons (number varies)
    - Faction with Blacksail Smugglers (+25)

You can now request any of the five tasks in the series by saying "interested" to Daemon.

Daemon Darkdawn says 'I think ye knows what I need ye to do, mate.'

The "find" steps are actually kill steps. They do not aggro at same time and neither one aggros until you hail and follow along.

I fought them in place (me, cleric merc, cleric, warrior -- all 85) and had only about 8 adds to deal with before they died.

When 2nd one died -- zones shook big time.

The Steamlord is a hard fight. As we were finishing off adds, it came up and attacked, killing the merc. It was a good fight, but we won.

When he is dead, make sure you loot the Orb of Elemental Steam that he drops.

The turns ins are that Orb and the charm & amulet from previous tasks in this series.

Do not attempt to slow him, did that tonight, and it said "Your Spell may have had the opposite effect of what you desired" He then ate through my merc, my 85 mage pet, and mage, within 20 seconds all together

PS that boss is quite a step above the King.

Died 3 times with a subpar group each time getting him below 40%.

Needed a dedicated healer for certain.

Also the 8kDD doesn't necessarily go to the Tank or Ramp. Had it go to the Mage several times and seems like had 4 or 5 different targets for the DD each time with no rhyme or reason.

The Steam Lord calls for 2 adds every 20 secs, and casts a 5k dd and blinds.

After killing the Steam Lord, you are asked to hand in the two amulets you got from the previous tasks in the series, plus a drop from the steam lord himself.

As of 4-29-07 "they do not actually assist him, but run to where he was when he called them and stand there. " is not true. They assist.
