    This task begins with Alchemist Hesia in Katta Castrum at location 85, 67, 10.

    You say, 'Hail, Alchemist Hesia'

    Alchemist Hesia says 'I simply don't have time for this nonsense! I didn't spend years cultivating new strains of herbs for my experiments just to have them cared for improperly by a mess of snakes! I have some very important tests to run, and with the [greenhouse] under their control . . . You know, for all I know my herbs could be dead by now, trampled by those careless buffoons.'

    You say, 'The greenhouse?'

    Alchemist Hesia says 'We built a small but simply lovely greenhouse for my experiments, which are of the utmost importance. The life of, er, someone very important hinges upon them! Anyway, it is the culmination of my most recent work and I simply must have those [herbs].'

    You say, 'What herbs?'

    Alchemist Hesia says 'There are four new strains that I need to run tests with, and they were just about ready last week. If I don't get my hands on them soon I will have to start all over again. I cannot have this kind of setback right now. Someone must [retrieve] those samples!'

    You say, 'I will retrieve them for you'

    Alchemist Hesia says 'Would you? There are a number of herb tenders and alchemists in the greenhouse now, as though the shissar could possibly be as advanced as I! They have no idea what they're doing over there. Please hurry, and bring me back a sample each of Stingthistle, Wyrmvine, Bleakwort, and Blue Aloe.'

    You have been assigned the task 'Herb Retrieval'.

    Many of the rare plants available in the city were lost when the Combine had to abandon the greenhouses, Retrieve several specific samples from the greenhouse so that potions can be made. Take care, for the greenhouse has fallen under the shissar control.

    Explore the overtaken greenhouse (Katta Castrum)
    Collect 1 Stingthistle (Katta Castrum)
    Collect 1 Bleakwort (Katta Castrum)
    Collect 1 Blue Aloe (Katta Castrum)
    Collect 1 Wyrmvine (Katta Castrum)
    Deliver 1 Stingthistle to Alchemist Hesia (Katta Castrum)
    Deliver 1 Bleakwort to Alchemist Hesia (Katta Castrum)
    Deliver 1 Blue Aloe to Alchemist Hesia (Katta Castrum)
    Deliver 1 Wyrmvine to Alchemist Hesia (Katta Castrum)

    The first step updates at 3000, -2660. Stingthistle, Wyrmvine, Bleakwort, and Blue Aloe are dropped by Shissar alchemists and herbtenders.

    The scaling affects any reward that makes sense to scale. Essentially, anything where the norm is to give out many of them. It affects faction, experience, points, etc. It doesn't affect things like items, though, which have no inherent way to scale.

    There are caps on the minimum and maximum that a mission can scale to so you won't see missions dropping away to nothing.

    sorry for posting the incorrect info... here is the info that i could find..

    (table based off average popularity group missions.. 40 orux or so)
    ORUX EARNED < == > FACTION
    0[orux] - 199(faction) --> Apprehensive
    200[orux] - 399[faction] --> Indifferent
    400[orux] - 1099[faction] --> Amiable
    1100[orux] - 1699[faction] --> Kindly
    1700[orux] - 2399[faction] --> Warmly
    2400[orux] + --> Ally(faction)

    These are the numbers that I have posted. I tracked many peoples orum progress and found these to be as accurate as you are going to get.

    Higher orum missions are believed to give slightly better faction and bottomed out missions are believed to get slightly less. For this reason, someone who farmed nothing but 80 orux missions might hit ally at closer to 2200[orux] and someone who does nothing but 25 orux missions will hit it at closer to 2500[orux].

    on average, 2 orux = 1 faction point, because to go from appre to indiff = 100 faction points, on average most players had 200 orux or so when reaching apprehensive.

    2500(orux) / 25 = 100 missions to get to ally
    bottomed out group tasks = 1200 / 100 = approx 12 FAC PTS

    2200(orux) / 80 = 27.5 missions to ally
    Topped out group tasks = 1200approx 43 FAC PTS

    apprehensive to ally = approx 2400 orux, or 1200 fac pts, # of missions depends which ones you do !

    conclusion:
    the faction points you earn for a mission is the amount of orux divided by 2. if you are doing a mission for 50 orux, it is worth 25 faction points.

    here is the faction table (note that this is different than the table at the top of this post, which displays how much orux you should have when you reach that faction level)
    Quote:

    Generic Faction Levels
    -2000 to -751 ...scowls at you, ready to attack
    -750 to -501 ...glares at you threateningly
    -500 to -101 ...glowers at you dubiously
    -100 to -1 ...looks your way apprehensively (100)

    0 to 99 ...regards you indifferently (100)

    100 to 499 ...judges you amiably (400)
    500 to 749 ...kindly considers you (250)
    750 to 1099 ...looks upon you warmly (350)
    1100 to ~2000 ...Ally faction

    TO GO FROM APP TO ALLY = 1200 FAC POINTS

    BUT all this aside.. herb retrival is a Solo mission, and I Don't think the faction on solo missions ever changes? I did library heist a ton and each time it was exactly 10 faction points, i counted how many times it took to jump from each faction level and it checked out correctly. So unless they changed the way solo missions work when they nerfed library heist, this task should always give 10 faction points no matter how popular it is.

    the reward for solo missions does Not scale. this mission is always worth 10 points. to go from indiff to ally requires 1200 faction points (that's 120 solo missions)

    solo missions = 10 pts
    group missions faction reward = orux reward divded by 2

    (so a mission that rewards 25 orux is worth 12 faction points.. 50 orux mission worth 25 faction points, etc)

    Something ive seen with the scaling also, is that it isnt a Global scaleing, it seems to go by the person retrieving the mission, or some variable regarding the group doingit. I know people who will do a mission many times in a day, and it will scale a few orum down each time they do it ( 40, 35, 32, 28 ), then the next day it is back up to 50.

    And i have gone with one friend to do a mission, had had it give 35 the first time, then 32 the next, then gone with another friend the same day and get 42. So how exactly the scaling is calculated confuses me.

    Imagine there are 4 missions, ABCD, they range in difficulty, A being easy, D being hard. Each mission starts at 50 points:

    50, 50, 50, 50

    So everybody starts doing missions A and B to start out:

    40, 40, 60, 60

    People realize A is even easier, so some doing B start on A

    30, 40, 65, 65

    Now that C is worth so much, some decide to do that instead

    35, 40, 60, 65

    A few more of the folks doing B move to C for better rewards, and an exploiter figures out how to automate A

    25, 40, 60, 75

    As time has gone on, we see that the easiest mission is worth the least, and the hardest one which very few do is worth the most. Which is how it should be. If at this point a new casual decides to start doing missions, they can decide how big a risk they want to take, and get rewarded appropriatly.

    That's pretty much dead on. The total number of points in any particular grouping of missions (for instance, all pirate missions or all combine missions) doesn't change but the points get shifted around so that the missions that are done more often are worth less and the ones done less often are worth more. There are caps in place so missions won't drop or raise too much, but the net effect is to encourage people to try a variety of missions instead of finding the easiest one and doing it repeatedly as has happened in the past.

    The rewards are set at the time the mission is accepted so no matter how long it takes you to complete the mission, you'll end up with the reward that was offered when you accepted the mission.

    Yea, but it doesnt mean much when all the missions are being done, so they all end up 50 or lower.

    If they are truly all being done equal amounts, then they should all stay at 50, which is also as it should be since the missions are all average valued to the players. On the other hand, if they all seem to be at 40 or so... then either something is broken, or you are refusing or missing doing a mission, which is quietly being very valuable :)
