You say, 'Hail, Sir Hobble'

Sir Hobble holds a cracked monocle up to his squinting eye. 'I say!! A talking bear!! Squire Fuzzmin, come and take a gander at this rare find! The wonders never cease in the land of Kunark!!'

You say, 'Hail, Squire Fuzzmin'

Squire Fuzzmin awakens from a quick shuteye. 'Yawn.. Oh!! Hello. Don't mind the rusty old tin can. Sir Hobble is on a [quest] of sorts. I tell you, I would leave if he did not pay such good wages to carry his equipment.

You say, 'What quest is Sir Hobble on?'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'Sir Hobble is searching for [three special dragons]. For all I know, they're not even dragons. He can't see or hear very well. He still thinks I am the only troll squire around.'

Sir Hobble tries to slash a drachnid webstrander, but misses!

You say, 'What three special dragons?'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'Apparently he is after three dragons which are supposedly named Azdalin, Gylton and Xyfl. He will not rest until he holds their scales. I wish you could [find the dragons].'

You say, 'I will find the dragons'

Squire Fuzzmin says 'If you bring me three scales I will be able to place them upon the next three victims of Sir Hobble. Then we can depart from this accursed isle. He would never know the difference. Do this and I will give you a warrior weapon out of the old knight's armory.'

Get the first two scales from the named wurms in the Burning Woods, Azdalin and Gylton.

For the third scale, you'll have some running around to do. Begin by giving two Carnelians to Tektite, a gargoyle guard in The Overthere:

Tektite takes one hand and pries out one of his eyes, which he casts far into the plains. He then places the carnelian into his eye socket. He turns towards you and holds open his palm.

Tektite pries out his other eye and places the second carnelian gem in its place. His eyes burn brightly with scarlet fire. He then hands you a fragment of Tektite.

(In the alternative, you can kill him to get the Tektite.)

Then take the Tektite to the Temple of Solusek Ro and find Lord Lyfyx of Burwood.

You say, 'Hail, Lord Lyfyx of Burwood'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood bows as a courtesy. His face gleams as if tinged with red. 'Greetings, my friend. Welcome to the Temple of Ro, sanctuary to those who follow the words of the Burning Prince.'

You say, 'What Burning Prince?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood closes his eyes and shakes his head in sorrow. 'Far away and better forgotten.'

You say, 'Who is Doowrub fo Xyfyl Drol?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood says 'So you can pronounce my name backwards.. Is that your lot in life? Pronouncing names backwards? Be gone with your silliness! We need no court fool.'

You say, 'What is the Temple of Ro?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood closes his eyes and shakes his head in sorrow. 'Far away and better forgotten.'

You say, 'What about dragon scales?'

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood says 'Tektite and peridot shall get you what you desire.'

Hand him the Tektite and a Peridot.

Lord Lyfyx of Burwood places the gems inside an ornate metal box. He begins to tug at his skin. Your vision blurs as he performs his magic. 'This is what you seek. Now leave and bother me no further.'

Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro got better.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men got worse.
You gain experience!!

Head back to Squire Fuzzmin in Firiona Vie:

You say, 'Hail, Squire Fuzzmin'

Squire Fuzzmin awakens from a quick shuteye. 'Yawn.. Oh!! Hello. Don't mind the rusty old tin can. Sir Hobble is on a [quest] of sorts. I tell you, I would leave if he did not pay such good wages to carry his equipment.

I don't say anything cause I'm diggin in my bags for the scales, and he goes on to say this, twice in a row:

Squire Fuzzmin says 'I need the three dragon scales of Azdalin, Gylton and Xyfyl.'

Squire Fuzzmin tumbles around and stands on his hands. With his feet, he pulls a long polearm from a nearby weapons cache. 'Woohoo!! I can taste the brew in Freeport already. Here you are, my friend. A real Wurmslayer!!'

Your faction standing with Inhabitants of Firiona Vie got better.
Your faction standing with Emerald Warriors got better.
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got worse.
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got worse.
You gain experience!!

Last night after many attempts i got my wurmslayer. With a group of 4 people one in west east north and south we saw hobble spawn around the middle eastern part of the zone and hailed him while i turned in scales on run to get my wurmy it took about 2.5 hoursd of just refreshing on my track but it was worth it.
Still works

Ok after much frustration and scouring these message boards I was convinced that the trigger to Sir Hobble was broken. I tried for two nights every concievable idea posted here to no avail. I then ported up to POK and asked someone, Proetus, responded insisting the quest is not broken, that Sir Hobble will spawn but is killed rather quickly. So down we went, three trackers spread out over the zone while one talked to bar maid. First string named necro poped but despawned within five minutes after repeating the line I wish to see something interesting to Lenka. Anyway 2nd time no pops. Third time within five minutes group member says she has Sir Hobble on track. I followed and sure enough there was Sir Hobble tearing *** across the zone, did the rest of the line and up popped Squire Fuzzim, the real fun began, when trying to turn in the scales which was very unsuccesful. Anyway after defending sir hobble and accidently letting Squire die by a misplaced song on my part. I rehailed while still fighting with sir hobble, respawned Squire and he stayed in dock area. In short, this quest still works as of April 7th, 2003, and the battlemaster or timer theory is a bunch of b.s. It works

Quest at March 2003

This is intended as an update to quest difficulty (and details) in the Post Luclin era (Luclin is the defining moment in power shift pre 60th level for me - PoP is about 60+ and LoY doesnt change power).

We set out to complete the quest with a group of: -

39 druid
39 warrior
40 cleric
40 shaman
42 warrior

Scale 1 - Azdalin

We entered Burning woods from Skyfire and moved around the zone till we could take up a position at approximately -1600, -400. Near the road through an area of burned trees. As mentioned elsewhere Azdalin seems to appear frequently - we picked him off twice (once for each warrior) in less than 10 minutes. He conned yellow and blue to a 42 warrior, was pure melee and slowed easily after malaisement. ((Edit: Have revisted for another Wurmslayer and am 99% certain that Azdalin is on a spawn cycle with Gullerback (named undead gorilla) in the same way that Gylton and Entalon (see below) also cycle. Gullerback is tougher than the worms and highly Magic resistant (low Fire Resist though)))

Scale 2 - Gylton

We moved back to the Skyfire zone area and set up our camp on the downslope at the end of the zone 'tunnel', looking out over a clear flat area with a ruined building ahead and a little to our right. Our experience over the next 90 mins leads us to conclude that Entalon is indeed Gylton's placeholder. Both Entalon and Gylton walk on an eliptical path that comes across the flat area infront of the downslope and near the ruin. They will appear from the trees on the left and disappear behind the ruin on the right as they wander. One of these two names appears every 5 - 6mins. They can spawn either anywhere along this path or in one of several places. On two occasions Entalon appeared right in front of us by the ruined building. We camped for about 90 mins, killing Entalon often before we got 2 instances of Gylton. Entalon conned blue to red to a 42 warrior (I assume a range of 41 - 45 for his level). On all occasions he malaised and slowed, was pure melee and died easily.

Gylton conned blue and yellow the two times we met him - I assume a similar level range to Entalon is possible.

Scale 3 - Lord Lyfyx of Burwood

The way to get the scale is documented elsewhere - in short, a human Innoruuk warrior was apprehensive in the outpost and turned in two carnelians to Tektite the gargoyle (appears by the main gate inside the outpost) and recieved a Tektite in return.

((Edit: Included to make the quest description complete :- Tektite is one of four gargoyles who guard the 'main' gate into the evil outpost in The Overthere. The main gate faces roughly south and the dragoons walk out through it on their nightly patrols.

Two Gargoyles guard the outside of the gate, two guard the inside - Tektite is one of the two on the inside.

Anyone who cons apprehensive or above can do the turn in - and then do the turn in in The Temple of Solusek Ro - the scale recieved in the temple is not no drop so that person can then hand it to an otherwise KoS quester)).

The Tektite was Lore No Drop. We journeyed to Temple of Sol Ro and found Lord Lyfyx of Burwood on the balcony overlooking the main area inside (left hand side as you enter the temple from Lavastorm). Handing him a Tektite and a peridot yeilded the third scale, which is Lore (as are the other two) but not no drop (neither are the other two).

Acquiring the scales was the least frustrating part of the quest. Theories and stories abound about making the elusive Sir Hobble appear and then keeping him and Fuzzmin alive long enough to do the turn in. After several hours and two different approaches to spawning him - I can only list my observations - there are few if any conclusions to be drawn on such scant evidence of the details of how to spawn him.

First - The Long Day. We had read that speaking the 'trigger' line to a barmaid in Firiona Vie would cause Hobble to appear anywhere in the zone and set off to die at the hands of the various creatures infesting the zone. We spent many hours trying to track him while speaking the trigger line to no avail. It was the hours trying this that caused us to come here and read other peoples experiences. We certainly could not locate Hobble while trying this method. We left after 7 hours of frustration.

Second - the Good Day.

We sat on the road that leads North from the Firiona Vie settlement main gate - around the point that the Drixies and Pilgrims will meet the Driders and fight. (BEWARE - Drixies and Pilgrims will aggro on evil characters - a human warrior of Innoruuk was KoS). Occasional Frogloks appear and roam the road and would aggro us, and they would neither be attacked nor assisted by Pilgrims and Drixies. Another suggestion we read was that A Goblin Battlemaster was in some way linked to Hobble. We pulled him each time he appeared (roughly once every 5 mins) and we did not speak the trigger line - just pulled and killed the Battlemaster. After just 25 mins or so Sir Hobble spawned just over the hill to the right (East) of the road as we faced away from FV with the water on our left.

I cant draw the conclusion that what we did was right or wrong from one instance. I just list what occurred - draw your own inference.

Of course spawning Hobble is just one part of the challenge - famously he then runs (and run he does) off into the wildlands to fight Driders and inevitably die (Hobble cons blue at 40). Keeping him alive long enough to Hail him so that he will summon Fuzzmin (he responds by shouting for Fuzzmin to come to him) and then keeping him alive until Fuzzmin arrives is difficult. Once Fuzzmin does arrive the two keep on running and fighting - making the turn in particularly difficult.

We opted for simplicity :-

While Hobble was still among the Drixies and away from the Driders we rooted him. He resisted one root from a 40 shaman, but the second stuck. We then hailed and he called for Fuzzmin. I dont believe it was necessary but we Atoned him (worked first time) and he stood, calmly rooted until Fuzzmin appeared from the direction of the Outpost about 60 seconds later. As Hobble was rooted, Fuzzmin stood and waited politely for us to do the turn ins and receive our Wurmslayers, then the root broke and they trotted off to die.

(To celebrate we ported and ran into Jagged Pine and our warriors dual weilded Wurmslayers and Gnollslayers (Both weapons are 25 / 40 when fighting gnolls). Much fun was had by all).

Confirm the part with OT: I made a lvl 1 Warr/Human/Innoruuk to do the turn in with Tektite and Lord Xyfyl. It worked perfectly!

Excellent information Darenya! A couple things to note here. I tried sitting on the path leading North just out of the city and kept killing the Goblin Battlemaster for about 2 hours and no Sir Hobble spawn, finally had one of our group go into and speak the trigger line "I would like to see something interesting", and sure enough, Sir Hobble spawned within 5 minutes running North.
After reading your post, we came prepared with a Chanter in the group, the Ranger cast snare on Sir Hobble which slowed him and caused him to aggroe the Ranger. We lead him back to safer territory closer to town and the chanter rooted then cast memory flux to clear his hate list. The Ranger then walked and Hailed him. A short time later Fuzzmin arrived and stood calmly by Sir Hobble while the Ranger did his turn in.
We then went back to Burning Wood and got another set of scales for a Warrior in our group and did the same process again. Left the Ranger and the Chanter on the path just north of town. Had the Warrior go into town and speak the trigger, this time Sir Hobble popped right away. Ranger chased him down in Drider territory, cast snare and led him back to safer ground. Chanter then rooted and memory fluxed. By that time the Warrior showed up, hail him and waited for Fuzzmin to arrive. Warrior did his turn in and got his Wurslayer.
As a side note, we never killed the Battlemaster the on the second round so I don't believe that is necessary.
Thanks for the great info in your post, hope this one sheds a bit more light as well for all you Wurm Hunters!

Same here. I tried all that the boards suggested, and nothing. I finally petitioned, and a guide looked and told me he thought it was broke, and would pass it on to a GM. GM got me later, and said it was working fine. Said i needed to work at it more, and talk to other players. Jees it was easier killing the wurms. I'm about to give up.

I've been doing this quest forever without many problems, getting Hobble to spawn like most the messages on this board. As of March 22, I haven't been able to spawn him at all in the last 3 days. On vazaelle server, lvl 55 ranger. Any other information at all on getting Hobble to spawn would be aprreciated.
Can anyone help me?

I had originnally posted a question about this so as not to risk my scales due to bad faction. However i just complpleted this annoying quest today so i will give some updated info on how to complete it quickly as possible. Skip going to Fv to talk to sir hobble first off. And go ahead and get the scales. Azdalin is almost always up. Gylton is a lot harder to track i have heard that entalon is it's place holder. My group pulled him serveral times but Gylton never spawned. We got lucky a later time and he happend to be up. A word about the tektite Don't waste your time trying to kill tektite. Carnielans are like 9gold a piece and just get an evil player to with at least apprehensive faction to the outpost in the overthere to give the carnelians to the gargoyle. Boom head over to the temple of solusek ro. Don't forget the peridot to turn in with the tektite. The faction is beta neutral but if you have doubts go kill a lot of shadowed men. Now that you have your 3 scales go to fironia vie for the hard part. Any player not able to track, better have someone who can prefferably a ranger with a track skill of at least 163 (this is based on my current skill) or at least maxed for their level. Start out with Lenka Stoutheart. follow the dialogue and this will cause Sir hobble to spawn. (side note: if he dies while you are trying to get to him you can go back to lenka and respawn him over and over.) Don't waste time doing anything else head straight out of the due north till you reach the path. Follow the path to the first break the iksar statue should be to your left. stop and start tracking him. I say this spot becuase he spawns relatively close to the outpost the sooner you find him the better. Continue to refresh your track filter untill he shows up and catch him quick! He wouln't stop for me while i hailed him, so i had to spam him as he walked to get him to respond. as soon as he calls for squire fuzzman Start tracking again. The squire was green to me at 40 so i set it up so that he would show up at the top of my list. I might have gotton lucky because several times he would spawn really close to sir hobble. This is the hard part. Squire Fuzzman never stopped when i hailed him all the dialogue had to be done on the move. He follows hobble who is VERY slow! They are apparently not on Fiornia vie faction because they both conned indif to me. If you are unlucky like i was and had to turn the scales in, on the move get right behind him when you give him the first one then move up between him and Sir Hobble to keep the trade from being cancelled. Fuzzman spawned completely randomly and would despawn randomly while following sir hobble. Hailing sir hobble would respawn him at a random location but still within track range of sir hobble. It took a total of 6 online hours to finish this quest like i said bring a tracker for the turn in otherwise you will waste a lot of time trying to finish this quest hope this helps

Finding Sir Hobble and his wandering idiot
# Jan 14 2003 at 4:03 AM Rating: Decent
I followed the advise on these boards about hailing the barb woman and then asking her to show me something interesting. I then immediately took off, flying out of FV and heading due east (love sow potions).

I continued to head east, looking at every high elf I could find (Sir Hobble is a high elf paladin, who just so happens to dual wield. Go figure). After about my 20th pilgrim, I spotted a path and figured, what the heck. I turned north and followed the path. Low and behold, here was Sir Hobble, minding his own business. I spotted him along this path at approximately neg900 neg1500. After hailing him, his little friend showed up about 2 mins later.

Turned in the scales on the move (tricky) and got my wurmy.

Couple things I noticed. If they encounter a mob, they switch directions. They were originally headed south, then turned north, then south again, switching with every encounter. It seems that they reach a point of getting even with FV, then head towards town. I then heard over OOC that they will then turn after reaching town and head for DL (this part is rumor AFAIK).

Use this info as you will.

Actually, the components for this quest are easy to come by, and I got them when I was 35.

The named Dragon Scales drop from the named dragons Adzlan and Gylton. They Identify as being from them.

I got the scale from Adzlan by accident. When I looked up the quest and saw I only needed two others, I immediately looked in the Bazaar :)

They're not ID'd in someone's Trader inventory, so it's sort of a lottery, but I got lucky and for 50p got the Gylton scale.

I purchased two carnelians and went to the OT fort. I surveyed the scene for quite awhile, singing invis the whole time. The gargoyles are by the tunnel in the wall to the left of the south opening.

I sang Invis, ran into the tunnel, hit Sneak, stopped Invis (with my hand on Selos just in case :) ), saw that Sneak held, gave the two carnelians to the gargoyle and got the Tektite piece.

Bought a peridot and went to visit Lord Lyxfl in the Temple of Ro. Gave him the Tektite and the Peridot and received the third scale.

Now, almost 4 levels later I still have yet to return to FV to find Hobble, but that's another story :)

do i need to kill for the differnent scales? or could i kill the same thing for the scales? can i just buy them?
RE: can you buy all the scales

You don't need to identify the scales. They are LORE, so you can't buy two of the same.

Go to the Bazaar and buy the cheapest Dragon Scale you can find. Go through the rest of the vendors (starting with the cheapest) until you find a scale that you're allowed to buy. I checked the rest of the vendors, just in case all 3 scales were available for sale.

I got the first two scales this way for 70pp. The gems for the third cost around 15pp.

You can buy these scales easily enough in the bazaar. The drawbak is that the need to be identified. As well you need to look out for wurm scales being sold. They absolutely have to be dragon scales. Hopefully you can ask the person vending them which wurm they dropped off of but only buy the first 2 the drop off the wurms in burning woods. You will save a lot of money by buying the carnelians to gove to tektite then taking the tektite to lord whats his name (see quest above) in the temple of solusek ro who gives you the third scale for the tektite and a peridot
RE: can you buy all the scales

Well, since each one is lore, all you need to do is find two that you can buy. If you try to get two of the same one it will give ya a cant get duplicate lore item response. But since they have the same name, just go from cheapest one to most expensive till ya get two of em.
So . . . . .

Where does it say that letting the Hobble die despawns Fuzzman? I mean if it does it does, but why can you hail him, and just gotget about him and start hitting track? Just curious.
My experience questing a Wurmy
# Dec 15 2002 at 9:27 AM Rating: Excellent
I helped my wife who is a 47 Ranger quest a Wurmslayer.

We were just camping in Burning Woods kiting skellies and Sarnaks and wurms in beween the Forest Giant Fort and the Skellie Ruins. I saw Entalon on track and I pulled him and we kited and killed him. Then someone in our guild said that he was a place holder for Gylton. Not too long later we saw Gylton on track, pulled him, kiting him and killed him...

I didnt know what the Dragon Scale was for so I looked it up on Allakhazam here and found out it was for the Wurmy. I saw what else we needed to do, and not too long after we saw Az on track, pulled him, kited him and killed him. The Dragon Scale dropped on each the first time. It is probably there every time.

We then went and bought a couple of Carnelians and headed to Overthere. As a worshiper of Bristlebane, I was not KoS to the outpost so I went and turned in the carnelians to Tektike and got the piece of Tektite.

We took the Tektite and a peridot and turned them in to Lord Lyfyx in Temple of Sol Ro and got the third Dragon Scale (They are NOT no drop so I just gave it to my wife.)

Then the fun part...

We went to Firiona Vie to find Sir Hobble. We went all around the zone, both tracking, and couldn't find him. We went to the Elf town and hailed Lenka Stouthart and then ran all around the zone and couldn't find him. We seperated and couldn't find him... We tried talking to Lenka while one of us was in the Spider Fields... We tried running seperate directions after talking to her... All to no avail. Finally, We tried one last time and I ran straight east as fast as I could (and for a 51 Bard, thats pretty fast) and when I got almost to the other side of the zone, I saw him on track and found him.

My wife then starting tracking me, as I protected Sir Hobble from the Drolvargs seeking to end his life... My wife, the Ranger, hailed him once she got there and then we began defending him once again from a Drolvarg.

About that time...

...her Lupine Dagger proced turning her into a wolf...

Sir Hobble doesn't like wolves apparently because as soon as the Drolvarg was dead he starting attacking her! She clicked the wolf form off but it was too late, he was already mad. We weren't sure what to do but we knew that we didnt want to kill him after it was so hard just to find him :)

She ran and I charmed him so we could think of what to do next...

Only a few seconds passed and I saw Squire Fuzzmin on track. Squire Fuzzy appeared only a few seconds later at Sir Hobble. About that time the charm broke and Sir Hobble began fighting me again. She turned the scales into Squire Fuzzmin and got her Wurmy, then I hit speed song, she autofollowed and we took off...

.....happily ever after

A couple of notes...

1) I have never fought in Overthere, but I was not KoS to the outpost, presumably because of my deity (Bristlebane)

2) I ran directly east from the Firiona Vie bridge and found Sir Hobble on the other side of the zone after talking to Lenka Stouthart

But I'm giving it to my friend who is just starting EQ, so I'm getting another one. Do you think that me and 2 friends (a ranger and rogue) of lvl 60 and I can take this quest no problem at all? Thanks.

I was able to do this quest from start to finish in about 4 hours. I needed help with Gullerback, and the tektite trade. I tried Gullerback solo; however, I found out real quick that he is magic resistent. A level 50 Beastlord and myself (51 druid) were able to take down Gullerback. I tried the Tektite turnin camo, but got agro real fast and a train to the zone. I found someone that was able to do the Tektite turnin and just asked if they minded heading to the temple with me. The final turnin in FV was not an easy task as you have to do the turnin between the NPC fighting while he is runing to the next mob.

Good luck with this quest.

Hummm. I am a 54 druid halfliing.. I can do the turn in for the tektite.. I just sneak. Just be sure to be in the middle of the tunnel before casting. So you do not argo anything. When you gate out or camo again.

You DO NOT have to have good faction in OT to do the 3rd part of the quest (turn in for the scales). I just completed it on the Brell server. I'm a drood, just invis, walk up behind Tektite and turn it in - no agro. Takes 1 minute. Very easy.

2 Worms

Az spawns in the SW corner of zone up to the giant fort, same range as gullerback. Guller may indeed be his PH not sure. Gylton spawns in NE corner towards Chardok. Both easy fights, dont summon, about lvl 45. Fire resistant like all worms, about 6khp give or take, melee somwhere around 130-140.

I now think Gullerback is indeed the placeholder; last night got the scales again, in an empty zone. I had done this quest once before, but had gotten the scales at separate times.

Upon arrival, Glyton was up. A quick root/rot finishes him. Next to spawn, almost immediately, was Gullerback. Confirmed again that snare and root won't stick on him, though DoTs will sometime and nukes were rarely resisted (but hard to get off). Switched aggro on him between two druids - one would kite him around the other, who was then free to nuke, DoT, and heal. Sit aggro worked well as a tool to switch him from one to the other.

And about two minutes after Gullerback's demise, Azdelin spawned. Perhaps just luck, but starting to show a clear pattern I think.

I have to thank the person who suggested snaring/rooting Sir Hobble for the turn-in. Helps IMMENSELY. Snare him and pull him somewhere relatively safe, after hailing him to spawn the Squire. Then root him and wait. Also helps to have someone else with tracking making sure the Squire stays out of trouble till he gets there.

Entalon is the place holder for glyton. My guild camps the giant fort regularly and azdalian is up constantly. We killed him serverl times in a row and he shows back up on track almost immediately.
We attempted to get glyton to pop by killing entalon but entalon kept popping so we finnally gave up Recently we were back and glyton was up so we pulled him and he dropped the scale so they defenently drop everytime you kill them
How do you find Sir Hobble?
# Sep 04 2002 at 12:13 AM Rating: Default
I have collected the three scales and am now ready for my reward! However......I am unable to find Sir Hobble or get him to spawn. I have read the other posts on this subject and tried their suggestions to no avail. Can anyone give me some more specific advice? Thanks.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 11 2002 at 7:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you read the quest, it doesn't say anything about finding or spawning Sir Hobble. You give the scales to Fuzzmin to get the Wurmslayer.

I realize you need Fuzzmin. Everything I have seen reguarding this quest talking to Sir Hobble gets Fuzzmin to spawn. That is why I am looking for assistance. I wish you would have thought to tell how to get Fuzzmin to spawn. I can read the quest.........I could use assistance completing the quest.

I know this is months late on the reply hehe, but I dont understand why you dont understand, you hail sir hobble and fuzzmin will spawn...of course he doesnt spawn right in front of you, im not sure where exactly, but he spawns and starts running for sir hobble. Since you are a druid you just have to keep hitting track, while keeping an eye on hobble, once fuzzmin gets to hobble they chat and alls you have to do is hail fuzzmin and give him the scales.

If hobble dies to drolvargs and such, you have to wait till he respawns(dont give the scales if hobble is dead), try running along east-west path near the city, both of them hang around there.

hope this helps:)
Getting Xyfl scale easy
# Aug 18 2002 at 7:31 AM Rating: Default
Just got this scale today, was really easy. Character that has the first two scales is a 54 bard quite, KOS to the evil outpost and tektite. So I made a newbie DE cleric worshiping Inny dropped a couple of carnelians and a peridot behind a tree in the Nek forrest with my bard, logged on cleric and picked em up. Then I just ran to the oasis and took the boat to the outpost in OT. After I got there I found Tektite floating around the entrance to the outpost and gave him the 2 carnelians (made sure the were unstacked =)) and he gave me a peice of himself. The Tektite peice IS no drop. Since my cleric was only lvl 1 I just whacked the nearest guard for an instant port back to the newbie log in Nek =). Then ran north to lavastorm and then to the Temple of Sol Ro. Wandered around a bit and found Lord Lyxfl of Burwood. Handed him the peice of Tektite along with the peridot and bam theres my scale. Then I just jogged back to Nek to the same tree my bard was camped under, dropped the scale logged back on my bard and snagged it. Now I have all 3 scales, just gotta go find that squire now.
A little trick...
# Jul 30 2002 at 5:03 PM Rating: Decent
I just completed this quest today and by accident found a little trick to help with the Squire Fuzzmin handover.

I tracked Sir Hobble by accident, I've no idea how or where or when he spawns, pure luck.

I hailed him and he said the lines to get Squire Fuzzmin to spawn and run to him.

I'm walking around, keeping Sir Hobble alive and the Squire hasn't arrived, when I accidently snare Sir Hobble who then attacks me. Oops.

So I kite him a bit, then finally decide to lead him to the DLs zone and hopefully Sir Hobble he will still be in the tunnel when I zone back.

Then I found that keeping him alive is very easy when he is chasing you, you just steer him away from mobs and because he is after you, he leaves them alone. Trick one.

Then as I got near the river, Squire Fuzzmin arrived. Even though Sir Hobble was attacking me, Squire Fuzzmin wasn't. So I just stopped running from Sir Hobble, he stopped and attacked me, and the Squire stood nice and still so I could complete the trade. Trick two.

I lost about two health bubbles doing this, but very easy given a bit of luck finding Sir Hobble.
