This group mission is the first in a series of five. It begins with "Beal the Minstrel" (click for map image) on the island of Jardel's Hook in the Buried Sea, at about /location 140, 3035.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - None

You say, 'Hail, Beal the Minstrel'

Beal the Minstrel is humming to himself and finishes the last few bars before responding. He speaks to you in a sing-song voice, 'Hail back to you, traveler from far away. Before I rest my weary head and put my bones away to bed there's a mystery I'd like to solve. You haven't heard of the '[Windsong]' before, by chance?'

    You say, 'Windsong?'

Beal the Minstrel says 'Yes, yes, yes. I've stumbled across the lyrics to an incomplete song called the Windsong. It sounds good to me, but I'm missing the final lines. Also, the song makes references to an instrument - a flute, to be exact. I'm afraid I already know the answer, but have you heard the tales of the Windsong [flute]?'

    You say, 'What flute?'

Beal the Minstrel smiles, his melodic voice deepening, 'Legend speaks of an ancient ship, forced to sail the seas forever, mired in the mists until the end of time. The treasure aboard cursed the vessel such that it can never find berth. However, blowing this flute can call it forth from the mists. Eh, now tell me that isn't the best story you've ever heard? I think with the full [lyrics] of the Windsong I might have an idea of where to locate the instrument, and hence, locate the treasure.'

    You say, 'Lyrics?'

Beal the Minstrel says 'Aye! The lyrics in my possession described an island that sounds suspiciously like the one that Johnny the Black Crow visited recently. Maybe you could head out there and [have a look], eh?'

You say, 'I'll have a look'

Beal the Minstrel says 'Johnny said he heard music on the western islets of Redfeather. The way he described it, it could have been chirping possibly, but it could also be whistling. Start your search there and watch out for the natives.'

You have been assigned the task 'Mystery of Aviak Island'.

Get a ticket to Redfeather Isle from Dockmaster Angus and board the ship Isabeau.

Beal the Minstrel spun you a fanciful tale about a ship forced to sail the ocean, lost for eternity. A vile curse bestowed upon the overflowing chests of ill-gotten loot in the ship's rotting hold is what causes the vessel to be lost with no hope of finding land. Beal believes the legend behind the tale is true. He recently uncovered lyrics to a tune known as the Windsong that speak of the ship and a flute that's said to be able to call the ship from the mists. The song is unfinished and missing the last several lines, but from what Beal has been able to determine, it describes the landmarks on nearby Redfeather Isle. As a musician himself, he has taken a special interest in this mystery. Though his motivations seem genuine, there is a slight hint of an undercurrent of greed. He has asked you to travel there to uncover either the rest of the lyrics, or the instrument, or both.

Purchase tickets to Redfeather isle and catch the boat 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Redfeather Isle" from Dockmaster Angus at the dock (nearby) and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island. (Next to you is a rowboat that serves as your zone-out.)

Dockmaster Angus says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.'

Search the tower on the northern "raindrop" islet 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

Search the tower on the central "raindrop" islet 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

Search the tower on the southern "raindrop" islet 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

Fend off the Stormscape sentries 0/24 (Redfeather Isle)

Kill the Stormscape lookouts 0/3 (Redfeather Isle)

The "search..." steps are location updates inside the three towers on the three small islands to the west of the main island. You need to use the ropes to climb up to reach them, and you'll need to take off any levitation effects to do so. Upon each location update, you see an emote:

You hear a piercing shrill whistle, and there is a flurry of activity on the islet. A number of Stormscape sentries flock to defend the tower.

Kill the Stormscape sentries that appear below each tower as well as the lookouts in each of the three towers.

Defeat the Flutekeeper 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

Flutekeeper Jurumie can be found by the coast of the main island (just to the east of the three islets). It hits for a max ~2,100, single-target rampages, and summons.

Flutekeeper Jurumie has been slain by _____!
Your faction standing with Stormscape Aviaks has been adjusted by -6.
Your faction standing with King Peleke has been adjusted by -3.

Loot the Jeweled Box 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

Deliver the Jeweled Box to Beal the Minstrel 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Upon close inspection, Beal realizes that the empty case you returned is fashioned to carry a flute. He is certain that you've confirmed the existence of the Windsong Flute, and that it rests somewhere on the Redfeather Island.

Same problem. Killed 23 of 24 sentries. No idea what happened to the 24th. Could have been pet kill. Really annoying,

Solo'd with Merc at 85... just need 3rd to get mission.

Buy your ticket to Redfeather (merchant on dock) and get on the boat to zone in.

3 of the "explore" updates are on the three little circular islands west of the big island. Carefully climb the rope (like a ladder, but inch up adjusting your angle as you go.. drop levi, be invis) and go in the hut on top for the update. this will spawn about 8 A Stormscape Sentry (light blue at 85) on each island. You need to kill them all.

A Stormscape Lookout" also spawns in the top of the towers (one each, in the center of each hut) that you also have to kill.

It appeared I had to "explore" the center tower twice for the update (once to spawn the Sentries and once for the lookouts?)... that or I missed the update somehow.

So, essentially, you have to kill everything on each island.

Once you have the 3 explore points and 27 kills, the next step opens up.

That step is to "Defeat the Flutekeeper."

Flutekeeper Jurumie should be by the water main island, just to the east. Kill him and that opens the next step, which is to "Loot the Jeweled box" (it is not a container, so don't fret).

This opens the last step "Deliver the Jeweled box to Beal the Minstrel."

Click the canoe on the beach (main island, across from the center small islad) to zone out and go hand in the box.

The second string of this quest more or less goes like this:
Speak with Johnny the Black Crow
Purchase tickets to Redfeather Isle and catch the boat
Kill the Regrua Seaskimmers (I believe we had to kill 8 of them)
Kill the pair of Regrua Guardians (there were 2, snareable and rootable but they summon)
    Defeat the Regrua Chieftain (summons)
    Loot the Conch of Understanding
Deliver the Conch of Understanding to Johnny the Black Crow

The name of this mission is "Finding a Way to Understand" and it is a group quest. Me and another 75 ranger did this mission with cleric merc. It was a little rough at the end, but we weren't even close to dying.

Oh, almost forgot! the reward was 49 Doubloons and some faction.

Have done this twice with less than a full group of casuals. I even tanked it the second time with my 75 Ranger (11.5k HP buffed with 2199 AC). Enchanters make this even easier, if you don't have a Monk or Bard.

The named is simple and also doesn't hit all that hard.

    This mission is pretty easy

going off memory for the steps

    Buy ticket to redfeather isle
    Explore the 3 lookout towers
    Kill 24 sentries
    Kill 3 lookouts
    Kill named
    Loot book thing off named
Return book thing to task giver

The whole task takes place on the western coast of redfeather isle with 3 islands just off the coast. There is one lookout tower on each isle with 8 sentries on the isle around the lookout tower, 1 lookout up in the tower with several other mobs and several roaming animals that will assist the birds. None of the mobs see invis but are threatningly (at least to my Troll they were). each isle will be empty of sentries until you get the task update for each tower, once the task updates the sentries spawn.

Kill em all and named spawns, kill named, loot and head back to buried sea.

Zone out is the boat on the beach on the western side of the main island.
Getting up the silly rope to explore the towers

The beginning of the mission you need to explore these towers wtih ropes haning down from them. I could not figure out how to climb up the rope. I wound up levi on a horse from the eastern part of the island to 'land' on the platform. Later, much later and week or two I learned that you can climb up the robe as long as you don't have any form of levi on. DUH.

bottom line, take off levi when trying to climb the rope.
