is the note/message that the ghoul messenger drops No Drop?
I got a semi new Ranger that I wanted one of these swords for.
Figured if the note wasn't no drop I could trek my Druid (30) or Necro (40) out to get the note..

Morin Shadowbane, the ranger guildmaster of the forest, sends you on a Quest for the new Ranger only weapon, the Short Sword of Morin. There are two ways to get the sword. (1) If you trade in an Ebony Bladed Sword to Morin, you will get a Short Sword of Morin , a Ranger only weapon; or (2) Morin will also tell you that he will give you his personal sword if you find and kill the Ghoul Messenger, who is located "between Kithicor and the Karanas" and bring back his note, or whatever he drops. The messenger spawns somewhere in Western Karana, is tough to anyone not in his 30's, and is always running. He drops a map of Kithicor. Take that map back and you will also receive the sword. You get the same sword for doing this as for trading the Ebony Bladed Sword. He then might tell you about the Quest for the Orc Impaler, which I have listed under Lesser Faydark quests.
Some of the dialogue: You say, 'Hail, Morin Shadowbane' Morin Shadowbane says, 'Hail, Elina! I am the leader of this beleaguered troop of rangers. Even though the once fair Kithicor slowly succumbs to the [darkness] at hand, we shall not abandon the woods without a fight.' You say, 'darkness' Morin Shadowbane says, 'The denizens of these woods are slowly being overrun by dark fiends and shadowed men. As valiantly as we have fought, our numbers dwindle. We know very little about our aggressors, but if we [acquire some information] or perhaps [fine weapons], then we may yet have a chance to retake the woods once more.' You say, 'acquire some information' Morin Shadowbane says, 'Your tracking skills are invaluable to our cause, brave Elina. Our scouts have reported sightings of a ghoul messenger. They have spotted him traveling between Kithicor and an undead camp in the Plains of Karana. They have attempted to track the monster and obtain any strategic documentation he may be carrying. Perhaps you can succeed where others have failed. Perhaps you may even earn my personal short sword.' You say, 'fine weapons' Morin Shadowbane says, 'My soldiers are valiant, but poorly equipped. I have heard of a magical weapon of great power, some call it the ebony blade. Amongst the frogloks there can be found a minotaur who wields this sword of might. If you are a ranger and could provide me with this sword, I would gladly exchange it with my own meager weapon. If you prefer, you may attempt to [acquire some information] for us instead.' After turnin of the strategic map of kithicor off the Ghoul Messenger: Morin Shadowbane says, 'Excellent work, Elina! It is obvious that you are a highly skilled tracker and warrior. Accept this reward, my personal sword which has served me well in countless battles. Perhaps you are willing to perform [another service] on our behalf?' You gain experience! You say, 'another service' Morin Shadowbane says, 'Very well then. Your help will bring us closer to solving the mystery of Kithicor! Find Bryn Fynndel in the Lesser Faydark and tell him Morin sent you. His band of elven warriors are observing the activities of the Crushbone orcs and Mistmoore dark elves. I am a lvl 8 ranger on Bertoxx or whatever (the B server under the new A server) my name is Kuthar. I think I deserve one of these because a pally has one. PLEASE HELP :)

Success on first attempt at this quest. Waited just north of Brenzl McMannus' house (aprox loc neg 2000 neg 9000). Got the GM on track at about 3 or 4 PM game time, after two day-night cycles without having seen him (it may have been a shade later, but it was NOT at sundown). He travels faster than ordinary ghouls, but doesn't run with SoW speed. He was a TOTAL wuss against a group consisting of a 36 cleric, 35 wiz, 30 ranger and 22 warrior, so I can't say how tough he really is; however, based on how long he lasted with us, I think a well-balanced, full group of low 20s could take him. He appeared to be heading for the valley just east of Froon and Choon and just south of Ogre camp, travelling east-northeasterly, when I stuck an arrow in his behind and dragged him to the group. Got the Kithicor map on the first try. Great weapon with great stat enhancers, especially considering the relative ease of the quest.

can a lvl 28 ogre warrior and a 30 half elf warrior take him out with exe axes? or do we need group?

Pretty sure you could take the GM out, but why would 2 Warriors kill something that is for a Ranger only sword???

Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

I got the Ghoul Messenger to spawn twice, in the areas mentioned above, by killing the werewolf that periodicaly roams through.
I hesitated to kill him, since I was worried that I'd be weakened when the GH showed up.
Then I thought that would be better than camping forever....and it worked.
Killed the Werewolf and shortly thereafter the GH spawned. I have done this twice, since the GH eluded me the first time. Both times, the werewolf was killed shortly before the GH rambled by.

i recently was traveling through wk to try to get to qeynos to get bound, and some of my guild people were leading me, when someone shouted that the ghoul messenger was up, and they found him and killed him. i was only level 19, so i could'nt have gotten it without their help, and they let me loot it. i returned the map to morin only to be caught there at night, so i tried hiding out there in the cabin but an undead cleric found me and the npcs at the camp wouldnt help me, so i am currently an 18 ranger :^(. but it's a great sword, like a silvery war axe with the strength and dex buffs.

I hace tried in vain to search out some details for the sword Morin mentions after completing this quest (the bit where he tells you to go to lesser faydark and speak to bryn fyndel)i was told by another ranger on my server that the sword is called "Orc Impailer", 7DMG/23DLY,piercing, +3STR, +4WIS and +10HPS, any info would be gratefully recieved.

I am a level 28 paladin and I was running through Western Karanas at the time. I picked him up using sense the undead and I felt like killing something so I ran down and the GM immediately started to attack me. Hello spook the undead. Got him down to 1/2 when I used LoH and them whooped him. got the plans and since no rangers were in the zone or any adjacent zones I looted it =P Now I have a SSoM =D

Fought him 3 times with a full group. All 3 times he conned black to me at 27. Fought him yesterday and I was at 31 (ranger) and he conned blue. He was still hitting me for 30-50 damage when he did hit. I had 2 lvl 13's with me and if it wasn't for one of them being a druid and healing me through the fight he would've beaten me. He's tough. The 2 shops in the southeast area of WK is a great place to sit and track for this guy. First time I sat through 3 night/day cycles and saw him 3 times. Second camp for him I sat through 4 cycles and saw him once. All 4 times it was early morning, around 5am-10am game time. Good luck, great sword.

Well i had my fair share of frustration with this guy before i finally got him... Some say he spawns on the Bandit hill in north west WK, but i think you can reliably find him by hanging out on the hill above the ogres and froon/choon... he walks right through. Also note that some say a wandering bandit who comes through there is his place holder so i kill the wandering bandits to be sure... After dieing closely to him a few times in low-mid 20's, and losing him to another ranger while kiting him with a bag full of Mage arrows, i finaly got him quickly and painlessly with the help of a wizzie friend. Dumb luck sometimes pays off with this guy:)

I have successfully completed this quest three times. Every single time he had the map. First two times I tracked him at lvl 20 with a 27 Shaman and a 30 ShadowKnight. Was Easy. Last time was my 23 Ranger and a 33 SK and we didn't even have sow. Chase GM and shoot with arrows and he will attack you. I cast snare while my companion chopped him to pieces.

Fair warning; the GM doesn't spawn on a regular basis; a group of sat for two straight game days and nights, no GM.
One possibility: I DID see Yiz Pon both days; it's possible they are on the same spawn table.
