This group mission is the first in a series of five. It begins with Mer (click for map image) in the Barren Coast at approximate /location -190, -45.
Pre-requisites for Requesting: - None You say, 'Hail, Mer' Mer says 'Please, have you heard anything of [Renne]? I beg you, if you've heard even the slightest piece of information to tell me!' You say, 'Renne?' Mer says 'Renne, my beloved Renne. We were due to be married a week ago but he has disappeared. We were going to set up a custom boat shop and he was giving up [pirate life] for good!' You say, 'Giving up pirate life?' Mer says 'Yes, he is a pirate, but don't hold that against him. He is a wonderful man and we love each other. Everyone in town thinks I am insane for holding out hope, they believe he is gone for good leaving me a fool. I know him, he would never do that to me. You must help me find him . . . Or what became of him. Please [help] me.' You say, 'I will help you' Mer says 'I have Renne's pirate seal. There is a camp of pirates up the coast. They aren't terribly friendly, but Renne's friend Jor is there. Show him this seal and tell him it's from me. He will help if he possibly can. There was a storm recently, and it's possible the pirates have more information than I as to which ships were lost in it. Please check with Jor!' You receive a "Pirate Seal". You have been assigned the task 'Mer's Lost Love'. Mer is desperately seeking information on her missing pirate lover. Take his seal to the pirate encampment to the north and see what information you can recover as to the whereabouts of his ship and crew. Show Jor the pirate seal Mer Gave you (Barren Coast) Head over to the pirate caves in the northeastern part of the zone (along shore). Jor (click for map image) is in the back of first cul-de-sac on the left, after the main cavern. He is surrounded by KOS pirates. Give him the seal: Jor says 'Renne's seal, eh? You must be a friend of Mer's. Poor lass must be half out of her mind at this point. No word from [Renne]? You say, 'Renne?' Jor says 'Aye, well that's no good at all. I got word today from the high seas that his ship ain't been seen in days, not since the storm. We be fearin' the [worst] on that one.' You say 'The worst?' Jor says 'The sea be a dangerous mistress. we all know that. I have an inkling that there might be more to this here story. The last sighting of Renne's ship was near some fierce fog in the northwestern sea. Many a ship gone out that way and's never been seen again. I bet and industrious soul could find some evidence of it, if they had the [courage].' You say, 'I have the courage...' Jor says 'Well then, off ye go. Get yerself on a boat to the northwest then, off the docks. Oh and be careful out there. There's worse things than storms out that way, or so the rumors go.' Purchase tickets to Maidens Grave and catch the boat (Barren Coast) Dockmaster Weatherby says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.' Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Maidens Grave" from any of the Dockmasters along the coastline and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island. (Next to you is a rowboat that serves as your zone-out.) Search for any traces of Renne's ship 0/4 (Maidens' Grave) You need to loot 4x "Wreckage" off siren NPCs on the island. This is an uncommon drop; you can count on anywhere from 25-40 kills depending on your luck. Return the samples of wreckage to Mer 0/4 (Barren coast) Near the zone-in area is a rowboat that you can click to port you back to the Buried Sea: You get into the longboat and row out. You are quickly picked up by one of the many merchant ships sailing the waters of the Buried Sea and delivered safely to the dock on Jardel's Hook... Head back to Mer in Barren Coast, and hand in the four "Wreckage" items: Mer says, 'That's from his ship, I have no doubt. However, its just wreckage. There is no concrete evidence here of anything but a shipwreck. Those are common enough out there, and they dont always mean death. Many a ship has run aground and left the crew behind to speak of it. I am afraid I am unfamiliar with this [isle] you speak of.' Mer is taken aback by the wreckage you have returned to her, but the lack of personal effects from Renne leaves her with hope.
